About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- bethrY1746GI0 contributionsHow to ride the rapidsGuides were very saftey conscious. I did not appreciate the manufactured water fight at the end of the ride. The rapids were just enough to get your heart pumping.Written August 7, 2024
- 704stella0 contributionsGreat TourThis was a fantastic trip where we got so much packed into one trip - waterfalls, lakes, wildlife and a boat trip on Maligne Lake. Our guide was quite knowledgeable and mature. We had younger and less experienced guides on other tours (including the boat ride) who were fine, but this guide was a step above. He showed us everything, was attentive to our needs, worked really hard to find us wildlife (we saw a bear, a moose, eagles, marmot, and a dear) and provided an incredible wealth of information. We could not have been happier or more appreciative.Written August 1, 2024
- timothybX5931OI0 contributionsWildlife TourSam did an excellent job driving us around and seeing the animals in Jasper National Park. It was a great tour. I was really sad about the wildfire which came through on Monday. Our trip was excellent!Written July 28, 2024

Our guide Rory did an outstanding job making sure we had fun, and he was so good with the kids. Can't wait to go rafting again with this crew.Written July 26, 2024
- WanderingScott0 contributionsUnmissable wildlife tourOur guide was amazing - saw loads of wildlife including deer, elk, marmots, moose, bald eagle chicks and grouse and chicks. This was the evening we were then evacuated and advice was excellent. Hope everyone did get home safe and you will be able to resume as soon as is safe. It was a brilliant tour and thoroughly recommend.Written July 24, 2024

- P8005JLmichellem0 contributionsSurprisingly awesome! We did this tour and I was slightly skeptical that we would actually see anything. Boy was I wrong. The tour was AMAZING. Sam was our guide and was incredibly knowledgeable and charismatic. My family of four (2 children 11 and 7) enjoyed the entire trip. We saw a mama black bear and two cubs, multiple elk and bull elk and some calves, 2 moose, a white tailed buck, and two immature bald eagles. Sam even let us try buffalo berries which my kids thought was great. Thank you for such an amazing tour!Written July 19, 2024

This tour was a great way to experience Maligne Lake, Spirit Island and see several animals along the way. We were lucky enough to spot bears, elk, big horned sheep, bald eagles, mule deer and marmots. Our driver (I think his name was Tom) was knowledgable about where the best chances to spot wildlife would be and gave us time to photograph them (safely from inside the vehicle). Due to our numerous wildlife stops, we had less time to explore Maligne Lake (a fair trade off).
While the stop at Maligne Canyon was nice, it could have been 1/2 the time and we could have explored on our own. I wish we time at Medicine Lake as well, as we were only allowed a 2 minute photo op.
Our excellent boat captains were Delilah and Shauna. They were incredibly knowledgable about the geology as well as the indigenous history. They were able to answer any questions the group had. I do wish we had more than 15 minutes to spend looking at Spirit Island, but I understand they have to keep to a schedule.
Overall, I'd recommend this tour for someone who is interested in spotting wildlife (not sure we could have done it on our own!) and for those looking to see Spirit Island, as a cruise is the only way to see it.

Kelly was our tour guide and she made the experience very informative and enjoyable.
The bus ride was comfortable while she was explaining about the surrounding environment. We saw Elk, 4 types of dears, moose and a black bear. She stopped and made sure that we see them closely and take good pictures. The Maligne lake cruse was nice and Spirit island views are breathtaking. After that she took us to the Maligne lake canyon and we did the trail together and that was nice too. She picked us from our hotel and dropped us back there at the end. We loved the whole experience!

Well worth the time, we learned a lot about the lake, the history of the area and how the first person "Curly" who settled the area. The view of Spirt Island and the "Hall of the Gods" were amazing. Our tour guide Amelia was super knowledgeable of the area and really funny. She made it really enjoyable. Jordan was the ship captain and very friendly. Our family were very happy we took the time to go see the island. Also we went in June 2021 and it was not crowded which made it really private and felt secluded in the mountains which magnifies the Beauty of the mountains.

Favorite part of the trip is we that we got to sit back and relax. Although it was raining lightly and the temperature was around 8 degrees, we enjoyed the tour, our guide was experienced, friendly and a good driver. I Highly recommend the tour for those who want to see that part of Jasper, sit back and relax.

We had Sam and Jordan R. as our tour guides. It was a 1st time experience and we had a group of 7 people. We had a lot of laughs. Sam shared important information about the lake and the mountains and the native land. We would highly recommend this tour to any one. We also would encourage tourist to take a trip with Sam and Jordan they are so relaxed and easy to be in the company of. Thanks for the experience!

We had a wonderful tour with our guide/ driver. He was well informed about the area and the sights both from the vehicle and on the tour of the gorge and waterfall. He made sure his tour was boarded first on the boat ride and gave clear instructions as to meeting points. He also did his very best to give us the best views and photo time when we encountered elk, a cow moose and a family of bighorn sheep. He answered all our groups questions and was especially kind to a young boy.on the tour.

While the scenery was beyond beautiful, the best part if this tour was our guides. Our land guide Trevor was completely informed about the flora, fauna, geology and history of the area. Our lake guide Becca was funny and equally informative and our captain gave us a safe and fun journey out to Spirit Island and back. We would recommend this tour and these guides to everyone.

This was the highlight of our two weeks in Canada! Our guide Jamie was very very knowledgeable and he ensured we had the best possible chance of seeing wildlife. We saw two black bears, a moose and her calf and two bald eagles. The trip was well organised with collection and drop off at Whistlers Campground on schedule. Whilst we were fortunate with the weather the boat trip again was excellent with Cam & Delilah affording us spectacular views of the mountains at Lake Maligne.

Thank you for joining Maligne Adventures for the 5.5 hour Maligne Valley wildlife and waterfalls with lake cruise. Maligne Valley is defiantly a fan favourite, especially when you get to hang out with Guide Jamie. Wow what a wildlife experience! You saw all the good stuff through out the day. Thank you for letting us know how your positive experience was!

If you have your own vehicle save your money and skip out on this. The guide added no benefit to the trip, they were very condescending, unpleasant, and unfriendly. If you want to do the lake cruise to spirit island book it separately from this experience if able.

Nice tour overall with all the great scenery you would want. Our tour guide and driver was Kate and I was impressed with how she could drive the bus so well while keeping up an almost non-stop flow of verbal information. '
Our one criticism of the excursion was that we thought a little too much was attempted in the way of extra stops to see lakes, etc. This limited the time available for the main advertised attractions. I was really wanting to do the skywalk, but when we got there, we parked at the end of the parking lot, and we were told that we had only 20 minutes before the bus would need to leave. I looked at the walk to the end with the see through overlook, and realized that I would never be able to make it down and back in 20 minutes, as I cannot walk very fast. Had our driver not needed to save time for the two more stops she made at the end which are not even listed as stops, she could have let us have more time for one of the advertised events on this tour.

Someone mentioned the walk to canyon was steep - I’m not a strong walker ...should I be concerned?
Written August 29, 2019
If you are on the tour you will only be going to the first and second bridges and not to all six of them. The first one is relatively flat. There are a few inclines.. Going to the second bridge also involves an incline. However there is an alternative route from the parking lot to the second bridge that is shorter. Altogether the walking is less than a mile. Going on a walk with ski or walking poles are a great way to see the falls and still keep your balance on the pathways. Also contact the tour company to voice any of your concerns. The tour companies were very helpful.
