While wildlife sightings are frequent, the experience differs significantly from a zoo visit. Due to the unpredictable nature of wild animals, sightings occur intermittently during the 3-hour tour and vary from day to day. Based on our observations, young children often become restless as there are no scheduled stops on this vehicle-based tour. Therefore, we recommend a minimum age of 5 years. Although not recommended, children and infants under 5 years old are welcome, provided a seat is purchased for them at the child rate (all passengers regardless of age are required to be allocated a seat on the bus). For those bringing infants, we recommend bringing a baby carrier which can be secured with the provided seat belts on our buses.

Great day of wildlife and information
This was a great trip, Brent our guide was amazing, local to the area all his life, he had a huge amount of knowledge and stories to share. There were only 4 of us in total and a trainer guide - whose name I forget - apologies. On driving out of Jasper to collect the 3/4th guests we saw Coyote, followed by Mule Deer, White Tailed Deer, Elk, all whilst being given a full commentary on the wildlife and the area, it was a great trip from start to end. We made several stops on the way up by Medicine and Maligne Lakes, and although either empty or frozen over the views across the lakes were amazing, stopping at one point to see the Eagles nest and a random Marmot hidden in the rocks. Saw trout spawning in the river, rounded a corner to a moose in the road, lunch and a lovely walk at the Canyon, all in all a well worth it trip. Only downside Maligne was not yet open so only saw a limited area of the lake, but it didnt spoil the day at all.

        High jinks at bed time!
Situated right on the main road leading into Jasper, this hotel was amazingly sound proof. My room was large , clean and comfortable and I slept soundly after I made a little step to let me climb into a very high bed!, Breakfast was a full breakfast and serves were very generous, Staff were keen to make my stay pleasant and could give advice about sightseeing around. Maligne Lake was still frozen over but amid beautiful scenery,

This was a great tour and Jamie, our guide, was so helpful and very knowledgeable. We were so lucky to see a grizzly, black bear, coyotes, eagle and osprey. Easy pick up and comfortable journey.

Sam is the one who made this a great trip. He was not only knowledgeable, he was passionate about what he was able to.
We saw amazing scenery at Maligne Canyon and Lake. We were able to see several bears and Sam, our tour guide made sure all got a safe view.

        Do it
Worth every penny. I get that everyone’s experience will be different, as you can’t control the wildlife you’ll see, but we saw a few bears, one of which had two cubs that were scaling trees like squirrels. Saw coyotes and deer, too. Sam, our guide, was very knowledgable and had an answer for every question thrown at him. Small tour as well so you get to know the people you’re with a bit as well. The lake cruise was great and the views from Spirit Island were something else. If you are wondering whether to book, just do it, it’s great.

        A Great Trip
Our tour guide, Jake, was excellent - he knew so much about the area and all that we saw. We were collected promptly and as we drove down to pick up the other members of our party we saw deer. Jake had had a report of a bear feasting on a dead deer and was able to pinpoint the area and take us. Jake was also concerned about cyclists in the area, warning them that there was a bear with its prey. We later saw coyote pups (very cute), longhorn sheep and elk. The time went too quickly and we absolutely loved the whole experience. We would highly recommend the wildlife trip.

        Must do!
We were so glad we took this tour! Our guide/driver Sam was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the area, its history, and the abundant wildlife. We saw bears, sheep, elk, coyotes, fox, eagles, moose, marmots, and deer. And the hikes along the lake and canyon were also fabulous, with Sam explaining important features along the way. Wonderful tour!

        A worthwhile excursion
We really enjoyed this tour. The shuttle bus ride out to the various points of interest is a big part of the tour as the driver gives an excellent commentary and stops to view wildlife along the way. We saw lots of wildlife, deer, elk, bears and a couple of marmot. The Lake cruise was okay and the guides were great.

Great day with a great guide. We were lucky to see wildlife - bears, elk, coyote, fox, deer and eagles. We had beautiful weather so the short hike to Maligne Canyon was enjoyable. Our guide, Brett, was very knowledgeable of the area and the environment. The boat trip was great with a stop on Spirit Island. This was a relaxiing day and a must do trip.

Interesting trip to some beautiful places
The trip was really interesting and the views were great. Sadly the tour guide gave brief talks starting them when only a few people were listening rather than waiting till everyone had gathered round. The information was not very detailed.

To start our tour guide was well informed and had lots of good information to share with us. We saw more wildlife then I expected and a few spots I never new before in Jasper. The HUGE downside to seeing the wildlife was that we could not open the windows to take good pictures. The windows where dirty and our reflections were in them so all the pictures where blurred. So why have a wildlife tour for this amount of money if you can’t take good pictures? Highly disappointing to say the least. Keep in mind these photos where taken with my phone not my camera

Hello, thank you for attending our 3 hour vehicle based tour. The windows on our bus stay closed for the safety of public. Wildlife are very wild and can react in any way so that is why we have to keep the windows shut. The guides do clean the windows as much as possible some times spots are missed. We are sorry to disappoint you on the photos, we hope you still had a great tour experience.

What a fantastic experience. Jake was a really warm, friendly and very funny guy. Asking about our favourite music, I admitted to the Backstreet Boys which he then proceeded to sing on the way. So silly but it made it really fun. We were incredibly fortunate and saw both a female and male moose. The male was so close to us, Jake even went to take a photo, which tells you enough really. Saw a majestic elk stag too. Non of it was rushed. Jake didn’t leave until everyone was happy to do so. Sadly meant that we ran out of time to get further into the Maligne upper valley were bears had been spotted but then again, this isn’t jurassic park where you lure the bear with a goat. Just seeing a stag from so close by was worth every penny.

We saw two Caribou and about four deer. We did also see an eagle and its baby, however this was not due to the tour and there is a sign in the area is closed off. Not really sure if this is worth the money, and be aware this is not an especially child friendly tour. The mini bus has windows that do not open, and if it is raining, it will become quite foggy and difficult to see. The bonus was when our tour operator/bus driver took out some antlers to show us.

Hello And thanks for letting us know that you were somewhat disappointed with your recent Wildlife Tour. All though our guides do their best to locate as much of a variety of wildlife as they can, the wild animals don't always cooperate. Three hours can be a bit long for younger children to ride in the shuttle and again our guides do try to keep everyone entertained and informed along the way. Although complaints are never pleasant to receive they are in fact very much appreciated. Your comments bring to light our deficiencies and remind us of the constant care and attention necessary to provide the best possible service to our customers. We hope to see you again on future excursions. Regards Trevor

We originally wanted to do a wildlife tour in Banff but it was fully booked. So we booked one for Jasper instead and I'm so glad we did, as we later found out there's much more abundant wildlife in Jasper.

We got picked up from our hotel at 5:30 and drove around until 8:30pm looking for wildlife. We saw mule deer, several groups of Elk, big horned sheep and a black beer. The black beer we saw was the best of the five we saw on our Canada trip as we were very close, there were less cars about and we go some excellent videos.

Our driver gave us good information about the animals and tried really hard to find us a grizzly, going a little bit past our tour end time to try and find one.

This was an excellent Wildlife Tour (and we've done a few!). Jake, our guide, was very knowledgeable and knew just where to go to get the best views. He was determined to make the experience a memorable one for us and he succeeded. With his determination (going an hour over our allotted time) we saw deer, elk (including a large bull elk), a young eagle near its nest and - the highlight for us - a young black bear eating berries by the road. During the drives, Jake kept us entertained with information about the animals, the area and how best to preserve the animals and their habitats. Would definitely recommend!

If you want an evening on a bus learning some great information about wildlife in Jasper with the chance that you won’t see any then this tour is fine. To be fair we saw one elk and two coyote - though the coyote were en route to a drop off at the end.
I know you can’t predict the wildlife but we saw more the day before (elk, deer, sheep, pika) and the day after (elk, marmot, deer, sheep) just driving too and from various places.
The info was good but it was disappointing not to see more. I also thought the guide could have mentioned the birds we saw. There were lots of ravens and Canada geese but I also spotted heron and some ducks I couldn’t identify.

Good Afternoon, Unfortunately wildlife are very unpredictable and the main goal is to search and hope we can see something while out and about. Sometimes we just aren't that lucky. The guides try the hardest to try and see and talk about as much as possible when they get a chance too. We hope you still enjoyed the tour and you enjoyed the commentary on the tour as well as the beautiful area to look at.

Great commentary by our knowledgeable and engaging guide. We saw numerous elk and got the full explanation of the bull's behaviour with his harem. We also got to see a pair of bald eagles, a pair of beavers and some whitetail deer. In each case we had ample opportunity to take photos and ask questions. In addition, we learned of other wildlife such as bears despite not spotting one. Three hours flew by.

The wildlife tour ran by Maligne Adventures was a fantastic evening and great value for money. Our tour guide, Brent, was brilliant. He had an incredible knowledge and experience of wildlife and made the tour really entertaining too. We were very lucky with Elk, getting really close to some big groups. We also saw deer and a coyote. Unfortunately, despite Brent's best efforts, the bears remained hidden on our visit, but we were still able to get to some amazing places and views around Jasper. This was great for ideas for places to visit later in our stay too.
In honour of Brent, and his amazing stories, we've since purchased a (toy) bear from a gift shop and named him Brent Bear. He's sitting proudly on our RVs dashboard!

Brent sounds like an incredible guide, and we're delighted to hear that his extensive knowledge and entertaining style added so much to your tour. The close encounters with elk, deer, and a coyote must have been truly remarkable. While the bears remained elusive, it's great to know that you were able to explore amazing places and gain ideas for further adventures in Jasper. Your story about purchasing a "Brent Bear" in his honor is heartwarming and a testament to the lasting impact of an exceptional guide.

We loved this evening tour with Chloe.
Unfortunately, we didn't get to see the big two - moose or bears, but we saw bald eagles, osprey, marmots, white deer and plenty of elks.
Chloe was brilliant, she was so knowledgeable, funny, open and genuine in her interest of the wildlife around Jasper.
My only criticism was that we had another Maligne Adventures tour bus in front of us, running the exact same tour with a different group. Because they were in front, they kept arriving at the wildlife first, taking the best view point and waiting there until the animal disappeared. On our way up the mountain, their van was pulled over at the road side they'd pulled up next to an adult male elk - he was fantastic, but they stayed next to him, until he disappeared across the road. So I'm sure that bus got some brilliant photos and had a fantastic view! Us, not so much. Just wish the bus ahead had been a bit more considerate of those of us who've paid the same money and arrived 3minutes later - it's not like they were from a rival company!

Thank you for Joining Maligne Adventures for the 3 hour vehicle based Wildlife Search. We understand how exciting it can be to spot wildlife during the tour, and we're glad that you had the opportunity to see bald eagles, osprey, marmots, white deer, and plenty of elks. These encounters with various animals undoubtedly contribute to a memorable and enjoyable experience. However, we're sorry to hear that you missed seeing the big two - moose or bears. Wildlife sightings can indeed be unpredictable, and despite our best efforts, we cannot guarantee sightings of specific animals on every tour. Regarding your feedback about the presence of another tour bus from Maligne Adventures, we apologize for any inconvenience caused. We strive to provide the best possible experience for all our guests, and we'll take your comments into consideration to improve our tours and ensure a more enjoyable and considerate experience for everyone.

We were a little worried for our tour as it had been raining all day (and still was) and we thought we wouldn’t see much wildlife as a result, but we definitely did!
We saw 4 bears, lots of Elk, a juvenile Bald Eagle and some ospreys. Our tour guide Jamie was excellent- incredibly knowledgeable and 100% committed to finding wildlife (and giving us the best view). We were really thrilled that we did this tour and would definitely recommend it!

Hi Jodie Great to hear that you had such a successful Wildlife Search with Maligne Adventures.
