Terrific way to see the area

While in the Jasper area, we had the opportunity to take this trip with Sun Dog. Samuel was our guide on the Maligne Lake tour. He was very knowledgeable - explaining the history of the area and the sites we visited. In addition to a Maligne Lake boat tour, we stopped at a viewpoint of Medicine Lake, a bald eagle nest (he set up a telescope for us to use), and he guided us at Maligne Canyon (to the first two bridges which provided excellent views of the canyon and the rapidly flowing water). The Maligne Lake tour took us through the lake to a dock next to Spirit Lake where we had 25 minutes to walk a short path for several viewpoints of the lake with the mountains in the background. Overall, it was an excellent trip.

Great & informative shorter tour
After 3 days of 9+ hour tours, the Maligne Lake tour was a great palette cleanser for our 4th day in the Rockies.

A comparatively shorter but highly informative tour, our driver and guide Ben provided insightful and interesting commentary throughout, and remained courteous and professional.

Lake Maligne and Spirit Island were highlights of our Rockies experience and well worth the price of admission.

The bus was spacious (which was ideal for a 6ft 3inch man) and allowed fewer passengers which again was ideal after days of 'mega' bus tours.

Recommended.

Great activity, but the options are not clear

This is a six-hour tour where you are taken to the famous Jasper view points and small trails with a guide. I enjoyed hearing the animal stores on the bus and exploring wildlife in the trails. The ticket was a bit confusing though. This tour has two options after we explore the attractions from the bus. One is the hiking option and the other is the cruise to spirit island option. The prices are different. My friend found out the difference and we changed our option. Fortunately there were spaces when we made the change. The description of this activity didn't make it clear there are two options of the tour.

Better than expected
Reading some recent reviews we were a bit worried but needn’t be. Dieter was a great guide, lots of knowledge delivered with a great sense of humour. Nothing felt rushed, like can happen with other tours. We had a small group in a very comfy bus. Dieter went the extra mile when, due to fires in the area, he made sure to put our mind at ease and give sensible advice.
Sure you can drive to these spots yourself but to be able to sit back and let someone else drive, and gain local knowledge was worth it.

Not worth the time and expense

I would not recommend this tour as it really does not give you value for what you pay and takes too long. You can do these activities yourself. There are too many long breaks. When time is valuable you want to cover the locations and not spend so much time in one place. This tour would be worth it if it was 2 hours. The guides are helpful and friendly.

Fun and informative

This tour was very informative and interesting. We loved the stops- especially Maligne Lake and that cruise to Spirit Island. Our tour guide was fun and interactive. I would say if you’re debating doing this or just seeing it on your own, you can just book the boat tour alone and see the lake, etc. by yourself and spend a little less time, but this was more informative and the stops were interesting, so it takes some of the guesswork out of doing it yourself. We had fun. I would recommend.

Beautiful but not worth the money

The trip was fine but not a great value for money. It started by getting picked up nearly 40 minutes late. Our bus driver was ok, but I got the sense she felt a bit overwhelmed at times. She did have some interesting stories but her tone was the friendliest. Maybe she was having a bad day.
The cruise was not really a cruise, but more like a, let's bomb over to Spirit Island as fast as possible. We only had a few minutes to take some photos because the line up for the best spots were long and people took a long time posing and taking ages when it was their turn.
It is a beautiful spot, but there are many other places in Jasper that are just as beautiful and not nearly as much of a waste of money.

A must-see sight

I had the immense privilege to take a cruise ride with our tour guide Nat and captain Nick. Each of them were incredibly enthusiastic about not only creating a thoroughly engaging experience but also ensuring the safety of each passenger. I had an amazing experience, and I definitely recommend going on this trip at least once - the view begets no regrets.

A great Day Trip from Jasper!

This was a wonderful day tour from Jasper! Our driver was Jim with tour guide Flora (from Scotland!). We learned a lot about the area and saw wonderful sites! At Maligne Lake we had Captain Kat and tour guide Bea take us on the lake and explain the history of the area. A wonderful day!

Lovely tour, great company
John was a great driver & guide. Unfortunately we were unable to go to Lake Maligne as the road was closed following storms a few days earlier, Company gave option of refund or part refund & reduced tour which we decided to take. John took us to some beautiful places, spotting wildlife on the way, including Bear. Lovely tour with great guide. Sundog also retrieved husbands jacket left on bus & got it to us before we left Jasper the next day. Great company.
