Light your way through this narrow, water-formed canyon as your small group follows your guide to the Canyon’s lower falls. The suspended catwalks, built into the limestone walls, make this an easy trip for everyone. Along the way, your guide will highlight unique features by powerful flashlight and pause for moments of darkness and quiet to foster an appreciation for spending time in the canyon at night. At the turn around point, your guide will illuminate the expanding ice that encases the rushing water and escort you through a natural tunnel onto the viewing platform, beside the cascading Lower Falls themselves. Warm up with hot chocolate and maple cookies while you look around the Lower Falls, the turnaround point. The return journey is your opportunity to travel without your headlamp (should you wish!). You’ll be amazed as to how quickly your eyes adjust to the darkness, enough for you to travel through the pine forest guided only by the ambient light of the moon and the stars above your head. What to expect: • Walking Time: 1 - 1.5 hours • Return Distance: 1.4 miles (2.2 kilometers) • Elevation Gain: 213 feet (65 meters)

      Unsuitable safari vehicle
Worst wildlife safari I have ever done. They use a totally inappropriate bus to get as many paying customers as possible, but if you're one of the last hotels they pick up from, you're inevitably at the back of the bus and will struggle to see animals in front of the vehicle, and if you want to take photographs there are too many people to get round and windows that create too many reflections. The immature guide thought it amusing to drape a bearskin over a guest : that's simply not what I paid to see. Desperately disappointing end to two weeks in Canada, and by far our worst treatment by any operator.

Landscapes so perfect you’d think it was fake
Great tour guide, spent about an hour at both stops. Never a bad photo at these lakes! Guide was knowledgeable about history, wildlife, and very friendly.

More fun than a grizzly bear!
Really great overview of the Lake Louise and Moraine Lake areas. Bear stories of Boss Bear and Split lip. Stories of mountaineering, and lake discoveries. An hour of free time at Lake Louise and just about an hour at Moraine (time enough to climb the Rock pile). Make sure you get on the right tour bus. So many busses in the parking lot departure area.

Excellent half day tour - two iconic locations without the stress
In advance we spent a lot of time looking at buses and logistics to visit both Lake Louise and Moriane Lake. Many public buses were fully booked and the bus links on Canada National Park pass bus to Moriane were not available. We then looked at tour options and booked on-line with Discover Banff Tours. On-line booking experience was very easy and clear and charged directly in GBP. Also an option to get a hotel pick-up was easy to organise via e-mail. Our guide Jake was very flexible and gave huge amounts of information. The huge plus of the tour is you avoid the parking/access chaos at both lakes access points. The small 24 seat bus parks and Jake directs you to exactly where to go for best views. Time at both locations was enough to really "soak up" the bautiful scenario and views. A great half day tour seeing both iconic locations without any stress. 10 our of 10 !

Amazing lakes - do not miss
Barry was our tour guide yesterday for our trip to lake Louise and lake Mouraine. Barry from Donegal was great - informative, witty and provided a very good service and really made the trip. It also took the pressure out of worrying about where to park - if we could get in etc as the lakes are so popular. I would highly recommend this excursion.

You can do the toughest hikes very comfortably with Discover Banff Tours
Did the Larch Valley trek which was tough but made easy by Discover Banff tour. We had two guides in Andy and Rob who made it look very comfortable. Andy was always at the back and while we were trailing the group , he kept on telling stories to keep us going. The views of the ten peaks at the top was amazing. We missed the larch season by two weeks but it is still worth it. We asked to do the rock pile trail to start with and got some beautiful pictures of the moraine lake. We exceeded the time by more than 90 minutes but nobody was complaining. Now that we have completed two hikes including the Stanley glacier, will do the remaining hikes with Discover Banff tours next year.

      Great Views, Terrible Tour Operator
The views at the destinations were great, especially at Moraine Lake, we actually liked it better than Lake Louise. The tour bus was FILTHY - the windows had several layers of dirt making it impossible to get any pictures of the scenery along the way, and the drink holders were so dirty I would not put my coffee cup in them. The tour guide talked very fast and continuously, driving past several viewpoints, and all lavatory facilities without announcing them, then told us to 'use a bush'. Instead we will tell all to 'use a different tour operator'.

Perfect first day hike in Banff
We took the guided hike to Constellation Lake , picked up from our Banff hotel at 730 am and returning about 4 pm. Georgia was our guide and she was personable and a joy. Traveled to Moraine Lake for the start of our hike, and except for a few boulders and rocks to traverse in the beginning, it is an easy, gradual climb to the small but beautiful setting. Great , fresh made sandwiches for lunch then a return to Moraine lake with enough time to climb Rockpile viewpoint or walk the shoreline. There is a small grab and go cafe and gift shop at the lake.

      Banff - Wildlife Safari Tour
Although we only saw 3 white tail deer and 3 to 4 mule deer on the trip, it was still great to see parts of Banff that we hadn’t had a chance to see yet. Cameron, our driver/tour guide was great! Very knowledgeable and personable through out the 2 hour tour. We had hoped for more wildlife sightings but we knew it was a possibility of not seeing any, at least we got to see a few.

Don’t waste your money on this!
Did the wildlife Safari tour (see animals in a bus) at Banff on an afternoon for 2 hours. Didn’t see any animals at all, this tour should not exist because it is misleading and only takes advantage of the people that have the hope to see a bear or a moose… this tour plays with your feelings and humiliates you at the end, when you don’t get to see anything at all. Please don’t waste your money with this tour, you will see animals while staying at Banff, don’t need to hire a bus to see them at all.

      Fabulous day out
A wonderful day spent on this tour, made all the better with Rob as our driver / guide. Rob was extremely knowledgeable about all areas we visited including details of the mountains / ranges, the history, the wildlife as well as the flora and fauna. Additionally he kept everyone amused and engaged individually with all of the guests on the tour. Visiting a number of beautiful lakes and getting the chance to walk on the glacier was amazing, as well as the walk on the glass skywalk. We would thoroughly recommend Discover Banff Tours as their vehicles are well kept and extremely clean. Oh…and the packed lunch included in the price of this all day tour was also excellent. If in Banff and you want a fabulous day out, book this tour.

We were picked up at our hotel by our guide, Jeff. A very knowledgeable gentleman, he took our group up the canyon on a perfectly clear - and moonless - night. We were provided head lamps, but often walked in the darkness so we could take in the whole experience. I don't believe we have ever seen so many stars so clearly, being urban dwellers. The hike was not overly strenuous, so it would be a good experience for virtually anyone as long as they don't mind the cold ;) We highly recommend this excursion if you are in Banff.

Tim from Strathroy, ON was our guide. He was very polite, adjusted the walking speed for the group, drove safely and shared his knowledge of the area with us. Hot chocolate and maple cookies by the cave was a nice little treat. Recommend as an activity. Pics are limited :) rather able to take the time to listen to the quiet and the running stream.

Hey, The Evening Johnston Canyon tour is unique as it allows you to be on trail alone and use all 5 of your senses. Nature is beautiful in daylight and it has a certain magic to it at night time. We are glad you were able to join us and hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay in Banff!

Beautiful hike during a snowy, winter night. We didn't see any nightlife or stars since it was snowing, but that didn't stop us from learning a lot and seeing the beautiful canyon! It was surprisingly brightener than we anticipated so we didn't need our headlamps the full time, which made it even more exciting! Nick was full of knowledge and seemed genuinely happy to be there. I loved going at night because it made a simple hike, more mysterious. Hot chocolate and maple cookies at the end were a nice touch.

Great night hike of Johnston Canyon! My friend and I booked a tour online beforehand and we got picked up from a different hotel (only certain downtown hotels allow for pickup). Since it was in February, we dressed very warmly. Handwarmers and foot warmers would be advised. They provide headlamps which you can keep as a souvenir as well as snow shoes. Our group had about 12 people in it and we all fit comfortably in their van. The night hike was short and not too strenuous. We saw a waterfall and stopped at various points to gaze at the stars. One good tip for those with iPhones is to change the night mode setting from 3 seconds to 10 seconds in order to allow the photos to develop better. We had hot cocoa while on the trail and were given a packet of maple cookies. Overall, the night hike was a nice way to explore safely at night and view the beauty of nature.

This was a very fun evening walk through Johnston canyon. It was a cold night in Banff, but in the canyon there isn't much wind and is not as cold. The night we went was a particularly bright night from the full moon. We were able to turn off our headlamps and walk via the moonlight along the trail and it was very beautiful. The trail is very easy to walk and our guide gave us strap on ice cleats. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend it.

We had a wonderful experience with Discover Banff Tours, and our guide Jeff. Picked us up from our hotel, heard some great stories from Jeff on our drive up, and walked through Johnston Canyon under the moon lit sky. Equipment all provided, and kept our headlamps afterwards. Our group didnt want to use lights throughout the walk, which was a great experience and definitely increased other senses. Very easy walk, delicious hot chocolate and cookies, and Jeff took pictures of us while stopping at various points to ensure we were all okay and to speak to some interesting things along the way. Would recommend this unique experience to everyone, thank you Discover Banff Tours and Jeff!

What a great evening! We were met at a convenient location and driven to the canyon, maybe 45 minute drive. Tim our guide/driver was very engaging and informative. We had a little history during our drive. Once at the park, we put on ice cleats, head lamps and set out on our Icewalk. It was a gorgeous clear evening, Tim gave us history of the Canyon and family who still runs it. The views were beautiful. This was a pretty easy walk, wear hiking shoes that are warm. Not a big change in elevation, walkways very clear and safe, railings the entire route. we did the lower falls as it was an evening walk, had a delicious cup of cocoa and cookies and headed back. The time frame of this was perfect. highly recommend this easy, beautiful tour.

Just returned from a snowy chilly evening tour with our great guide Neil. It was snowing all the time and the roads were covered but we were safe in his care. Lovely stroll up into Johnson’s Canyon with several stops to learn about how it was created, fossils and the hot chocolate/cookie stop welcome on a chilly evening -11. Would recommend both day and night tours with this great company. Thanks Neil for all your knowledge and insight.

A beautiful place to hike and take in the winter landscape. It’s not likely that you will see much wildlife because the tracks are well travelled and you frequently pass other walkers (unless you go off the beaten track which could be dangerous) because of the caverns and rock structures underneath the snow and ice.
Very beautiful natural ice and snow sculptures. Not too challenging a walk.
