Absolutely brilliant day out!
May 2019
My sister and I took my 2 year old son on the covered wagon ride and cookout in May 2019. It was an amazing trip from start to finish. The horses were beautiful, staff were knowledgeable and friendly and the food was amazing.

Even having the only child on the wagon was no hassle and every attempt was made to make us feel welcome.

It was such an amazing experience and I would love to do it again if I am ever fortunate enough to be back in Banff.

our group of 8 very middles aged (mostly) novice riders decided to partake in this little adventure whilst sitting at home in our comfy chairs drinking a glass of wine or two....
7 of us went on horseback with one taking refuge in the wagon.
Whilst the weather was a little unsettled the ride was good with us all feeling very in control - the ground is very muddy at the moment through no fault of the stables but the horses didnt miss a step. It was lovely to have just one other guest with us on the ride with two members of staff, sorry girls I cannot remember your names :(
And then we had our steaks - oh my goodness they were delicious...who knew you can cut steak with a plastic knife and fork?? well let me tell you their steaks are totally melt in the mouth served with jacket potato, bread rolls and salad.

Two thumbs up
We went with kids 7 and 10 so rode the wagon and really enjoyed Max, he was knowledgeable and funny. Petting the horses was fun for all, the ride really pleasant, and the food was super delicious. Everyone enjoyed the western games after dinner, overall it was a big hit in our family and we would recommend.

Aug 2019
A very peaceful ride in the wagon, with the driver giving information on the way. A very nice, peaceful and relaxing bush setting for bbq meal. Meal was absolutely delicious. The steak was melt in your mouth tender, so yummy! It poured on part of the way back, but wagon is covered, so no problem. Would recommend this experience.

Friendly guides but ride is on a paved road with the view of the river blocked by trees. Lunch was in the middle of the woods with no view at all. All in all not out in the open. If your looking for scenery this is not it. Save your money on this one. May be better in thr fall.

Great evening ride with dinner.
Jul 2019 • Couples
I was a bit intimidated at the start, I have only ridden once. Our three female guides were great. I felt there probably should have been one more guide for the bunch of us though. It rained for days before, so the trails were extremely muddy, difficult for the horses. Guides kept things going quite nicely and the ride along the Bow River in the evening was just beautiful. The cookout was excellent, steak cooked to order, baked pot., baked beans, rolls, salad, and desert, definitely worth it.

A great picturesque ride through the forest with good food.
Jul 2019 • Family
This was a fantastic way to see the Bow River and Banff national Park. Our ride was dun, our guides were helpful and informative, when I showed apprehension about my assigned horse at the stable they quickly assigned me a new horse (Spider) who was an absolute delight and so well behaved. The scenery was amazing and our guides were great to chat with whilst we rode.
The cookout was fun too, the food was certainly good and filling.
The highlight had to be the horses themselves by the end of the ride me and my family were arguing about whose horse was best since we had all bonded with them so well.
A great experience for any family.

Must Do Banff Experience
Jul 2019 • Solo
There are few places in the world as spectacular as Banff, BC and the best experience you can have while here is venturing into the back country on horseback or in a covered wagon with a great meal waiting for you on the trail.

The staff are tremendous, making sure your experience is as awesome as your surroundings. The animals are rescue horses that are well trained and well behaved making it fun regardless of your skill level and heartwarming knowing you helped save a great animal.

I strongly recommend carving out some time for this activity or any of the other ride options offered, but reserve your spot early.
