Loved it so much we went twice!
Jul 2021 • Couples
So much fun! Had a great experience on our 2hr ride as well as the 1 hr ride we did 48 hr earlier (we had so much fun the first time we came back again!). Horses were terrific and easy to manage whether it was your first time on a horse or if you’re more experienced. Guides were knowledgeable and friendly, trails great with beautiful scenery. Tip: bring bug spray!!..especially for morning rides unless you enjoy red itchy welts from ravenous Banff mosquitoes (they love tourist blood apparently). Also, best to wear full length pants - not shorts, not capris and not leggings with mesh design (those make the most interesting mosquito bite mark designs which you’ll get to enjoy for days along with keeping everyone else guessing what the heck happened to your legs ;) And this should go without saying, but don’t wear white. It’s a dusty trail with horses..you will get dirty and so will those white pants/shirt. We can’t wait to come back again and do an even longer ride (with our bug spray, long pants, non white clothing of course)

Great Experience
Oct 2020 • Couples
Awesome activity to do while in Banff! Great for anyone who is new to riding horses as they just walk the whole trail. Guide gives some information about the landscapes around you during the ride. Definitely glad we chose the 2 hour ride as I feel 1 hour would go far to quickly.

Boring
Sep 2020 • Couples
Did the 2 hour Sundance loop with my boyfriend and was pretty disappointed. We thought it would be a fun activity and a different way to see some good views we may otherwise not have seen. Unfortunately, other than at the beginning and end of the ride, this trail ride just follows a road and walking path and is through the woods so a majority of the “views” are just trees all around. There were no water crossings, we weren’t allowed to trot for even a small period of time (which I’ve experienced on every other trail ride I’ve been on) and the speed of the horses walk is excruciatingly slow. At the beginning of the ride, we were given some basic instructions on how to control your horse on the ride. I’m an experienced rider, so when my horses nose was literally touching the horses tail in front of me, I gently pulled the reins to slow him down (as instructed at the beginning of the ride so as to safely space the horses out and not get kicked) to which I got yelled at for having too much pressure on my horses reins. Guess you don’t really need any of the instruction at the beginning if you’re just supposed to let the horses do whatever they want anyways. Trail guide in the front was not really friendly nor talked to us at all during the ride unless it was to bark instructions at someone. Worth mentioning, though I forget the names, that our trail guide at the back was chipper and friendly, as was the woman who checked us in for our ride and gave us the basic instructions. Overall not a “bad” experience, just boring and disappointing for paying $270. My boyfriend who has never been on a horse was also very bored. Would save your money and just hike/walk the route instead of paying to ride it.

Nice trail ride

We did the 2 hour trail ride and really enjoyed it. Saw lots of great scenery along the way and the guides shared their knowledge of the area which added to the ride.
Nothing too strenuous for us and just long enough.

Elk and mountains and Bears, Oh My!
Jun 2020
The wonderful care of the staff: whether you are on four legs or two, everyone is treated with great care and respect. We had extraordinary views of the Rockies and the trip was at a wonderful, relaxing pace that the whole family enjoyed...and that's hard to do for us since our age range is 8 to 63-years-old.

When in Banff, if you get a chance, take in the Horseback BBQ. On our ride, we were guided by the nicest cowgirls. They were able to answer questions about the names of mountains, and types of wildlife we may possibly see.

Great way to see the scenery
Sep 2019 • Friends
What better way to see the scenery than from the back of a horse.
Did the two hour ride with Gringo. Other than the fact that I don't like western saddles I had a great time.
Lovely to ride through the trees and we even saw a couple of elk.
It had been raining though we got sunshine for our ride. It was muddy but the horses handled it well. They are obviously very fit and well looked after.

Great, Relaxing Ride!
Sep 2019 • Couples
We had a great time on our ride and we got lucky with amazing weather. The horses were all very calm and easy to ride. The whole process of booking and arriving to getting on the horse was a breeze! Our trail guide, Mark, was friendly and talkative. Great ride for beginners or riders who don’t ride frequently. It’s a park requirement the horses must remain walking and cannot trot so expect it to be slow and relaxing! Also, you must wear a helmet.

Truly terrible service I have never met such unreasonable and profit-focused people
Aug 2019 • Solo
I showed up a few minutes after my 30 minute window and was refused to be given a waiver and helmet for the ride. I have ridden horses before and felt very comfortable signing a waiver and putting on my helmet in the span of twenty minutes, but they spent those twenty minutes lecturing me instead of trying to help me get geared up.

Furthermore, even though they had open spots the day of for a two-hour ride and several one-hour rides that were not booked up and not likely to be (a single open spot), they refused to put me on them unless I paid more. Even when I asked to have the credit of my ride be used for a cheaper one-hour ride instead, they insisted I would need to pay more.

I truly have never met such unreasonable people who seemed to have no concern or compassion for their customers and were purely driven by profit. I have paid for a lot of outdoors experiences before and have never come across this.

My only consolation is that the ride also looks very boring. The horses walk slowly on flat terrain and trail leads are not willing to accommodate to more experienced riders.

Thank you for your comments. We do try and accommodate late people but its not always possible, just like an airline if you are late and can not make the gate intimate then you are asked to pay for another flight. Im sorry you do not agree with our terms.
