Our tour guides were Dale and Denver. Dale is very experienced and ran a tight ship, although one did not feel hurried despite the action packed day. We had a great group and together with the beautiful backdrop of the Canadian Rockies, it was a magical day. I had no intention or inclination of seeing the Athabasca glacier, but it turned out to be one of the highlights of the day for us. Peyto Lake was ethereal. We even got to see bears and deers. This was a memorable and magical experience for myself and my daughter, We would definitely recommend it. Thank you Dale and Denver!

Incredible mountain, river & glacier scenery made special by our friendly & very knowledgeable driver guide Susan. Walking on a glacier was an experience like none other as was the glacier skywalk. Do this tour if traveling Banff to Jasper!

My wife and I did the Colombia Icefields tour on 11th July.
We were picked up by our tour guide Norm at our hotel in Banff and were scheduled to stop at a few sights including the Columbia Icefields and Glacier walk prior to being dropped off at our hotel in Jasper.
The scenery is stunningly beautiful at times, and along the way we managed to see bears and elks as we were driving. We stopped several times to see the bears closer and allow pictures to be taken from the bus.
The Columbia Icefields was interesting and separate guides provide commentary as it’s a stand alone attraction. The Glacier skywalk was probably my least favourite of the day.
That said this trip was one of the highlights of my holiday due to the outstanding tour guide Norm. He clearly is proud of his country and provided interesting commentary throughout our journey. He told personal stories which were fun and interesting, and he also stopped at some unscheduled viewpoints and locations just so we could see them. He assisted everyone on the bus in taking photographs.
I cannot do justice in this review to how good Norm was. He really made this tour one of the most memorable experiences ever and I would recommend it to anyone considering travelling the Icefields parkway. Thank you Norm.

The transfer was strictly a job to be done by the driver. There was no communication to the passengers on what was happening whenever he stopped ie was it 5 minutes or more, could we leave the bus to stretch our legs or not (it was a 4 hour journey)?
The driver dropped us at our hotel in Jasper, as expected. Did his job, no more no less.

Our driver (Harry I think) was brilliant and very knowledgeable. It was great to combine a tour and transfer in one. The ice fields were very cold and we got soaked but interesting to see. I didn’t like the skywalk as I don’t like heights but that’s a personal thing. On the whole an enjoyable trip and worth doing.

Norm our driver was fantastic. It was raining and sleet on the glacier, with the wind making it very cold. Make sure you have appropriate gear just in case! The weather created issues for the people who run the ice explore and sky walk and they made some errors with our activity scheduling which meant that we ended up being very delayed getting into Japser. Unfortinately this too meant that we were unable to make any of the planned stops after the ice fields and I missed seeing Athabasca falls. Our driver tried to resolve the issues the Ice Centre staff created, but there was nothing he could do to make up the time. We had sufficient time at every stop we were able to make. Would definitely recommend this trip to anyone looking at travelling from Banff to Jasper or vice versa

Headed off on the icefields Parkway and on the way saw some cars up front stopped on the side of the road so pulled up and noticed there was a Black Bear near the side of the road. There was a person out of their car and about 20 meters from the bear photographing it. The driver of our bus let him know that he should be at least 100 meters from the bear for both his and the bears safety. Apparently, this is too common an occurrence.
Stopped at the Athabasca Falls and walked down to take some photos with the crowds of other people there. Quite spectacular.
Then off in the bus again. We saw another black bear in the bushes on the way but didn’t get a great view of it.
Stopped to pick up lunch then off again.
Views started to get spectacular with mountains on both sides and quite strongly running rivers.
Arrived at the Glacier Discovery Centre for lunch and then went on the Athabasca Glacier Icewalk tour which took us up onto the glacier to walk around and take photos. Spectacular scenery. The Glacier is the start of the Columbia Icefield which runs for 25 km’s. The Ice where we were was as deep as the Eifel Tower is high. Then back to the Centre where we then went down to a skywalk where there is a glass walkway counter levered out over the Athabasca river canyon about 280 meters above the canyon. Was a bit disconcerting seeing the canyon under your feet.Then continued on down the parkway (supposedly one of the top ten drives in the world) passing more mountains, Glaciers and rivers. Lots of small waterfalls coming down from the mountains.
Stopped in at Peyto Lake which was a brilliant green. Then back on the road again where we saw a number of cars up front stopped with people out of the cars. Ended up being a black bear and only about 10 meters away from them. Crazy. Got a good view of the bear from the bus. Then another quick stop to look at the Crowfoot Glacier and then off to Lake Louise

It’s one of the Dreams of thousands .People come from all over the world to travel on this road. It’s like travelling along Glacier Alley but a serious word of warning, these Glaciers are endangered, seriously endangered. They are melting down at an ever increasing speed. Global warming is visible every Kilometer you drive. We know this road intimately, we have travelled it many, many times. I have taken dozen’s of photos and COMPARED.
SO GET OUT AND TRAVEL THIS ROAD, IT IS IN GREAT CONDITION, RARELY WILL SOMEONE SPEED, What for ?
Take your time, there are many places to stop and enjoy nature at its very finest. You will NEVER regret it, honestly.

Thanks to our guide Dave we had a tremendous day. He went above and beyond all day to inform us and keep us amused as well! I was not going to go on the Skywalk even though the ticket was part of the tour as I am afraid of heights. Dave came with me and to ensure I experienced the attraction. The driver/guide we had was very informative & gave us good commentary as well as humour during the whole tour. I cannot remember the drivers name but would travel with him again & recommend to anyone travelling from Banff to Jasper to use the Sundog Company.

If you are touring by bus it is one large case 30kg and two carry on bags per person (and also a handbag is allowed as well for women) hope this helps you.
