- Criden00A wonderful day in the Po ValleyA terrific experience. Marco took us on a fabulous odyssey through the great natural food products of the Po Valley. Most tour members bailed after the second leg - prosciutto and lunch - but we soldiered on through the sweet balsamic end and we’re glad we did. Highly recommended.
- Jeff G00A Foodie’s Italian dream come true!I was only going to have one day to explore Parma and Modena and didn’t know what to do without a car. What I did know is wanted to try the Cheese, Prosciutto and Balsamico produced in the region. I booked this tour based on the stellar reviews and can confirm they are right on. Mattia was our guide and his passion about the region and the manufacturing of these products was definitely evident. I got a far more personal experience than I expected, and got to buy some of the products on site as well! More importantly, it was an amazing educational experience, and I learned so much more about these food products than I would have otherwise. If you’re short on time and want to do it all I highly recommend spending a day with the team at Parma Look. Gratzie Mille!
- 595pats00An Exceptional ExperienceWe took this tour...and it turned out to be one of the best experiences in our two week trip to Italy. The reason for its sucess was due to the tour guide, Mat. We spent thousands on various tours duirng our vaction and Mat was far and away the most exceptional tour guide of them all. Why? 1) He enuciates english execptionally well. Thus, when he talks....you can understand him....as he has much to convey. 2) He is an expert in the Parma cheeze industry with deep technical industry knowlege. Many thoughtful questions asked by our group....he never got stumped. 3) He is warm, patient, kind and very approachable....and takes pride in his job and the industy. "There is a link between Parmigiano Cheeze and Parma Ham" I will never view Parmigiano cheese, Parma Ham or Balsamic the same way again... Thanks, Mat
- Adamjonesaj9600Amazing Tour A Must DoAfter always loving Parmigiano cheese, Parma Ham and Balsamic the one thing me and my girlfriend must have when we come to Italy it was a obvious to do this tour. The tour couldn’t of been better was very interesting to see what the cheese masters have to do every day and learning about all the processes for all of the cheese, ham and vinegar. Was so glad we went deffo recommend!
- Road1581400Fabulous day with Sergio! We had an amazing day with Sergio! Learned so much on each leg of the tour and had some fabulous tasting selections. We would highly recommend this tour!
- Nonnaopa00FantasticThis was a fantastic tour, really a great look at a small operation that still takes great pride in their products. Our guide was really informative and we got to see first hand from the beginning to the finished product.
- williamaV6918PL00A great tour of Parma food productionThis was the experience we wanted. A great guide, whose family had worked in the cheese business. It was amazing to see the process of cheese, making, ham, production, and balsamic production.
- kathysS5251KA00Definitely Take These ToursI took all three tours and our guide, Mattea, was great. The Parmigiano tour was so interesting and informative. Parma Ham was also very interesting and getting to sample the cured meat was great - so delicious. The Balsamic tour was very informative and I really enjoyed it. I would highly recommend taking all three tours. Seriously.
- 198kristenv00Get to know your cheese! Our guide, Matteo is very knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. The tour was well paced and informative but in a small enough group to be able to ask questions. We enjoyed meeting other travelers and have a much better appreciation for the work and legacy of the cheese, ham and balsamic of Parma/Modena area.
- Laura L00Fantastic Tour!!What an incredible experience we had with Matti! He made the tour most enjoyable- he clearly has a passion for where he was born and raised in Parma and is very knowledgeable with the intricate processes of the making of parma, ham and balsamic in the best of the regional areas! Driving was fantastic- we felt very safe and didn't get car sick!! The factories selected were perfect and the Masters were so accommodating and proud to show off their heritage and the perfection and hard work they go through to make the best for us to consume. This is definitely a must do tour- worth every cent! Grazie Mille!!
- SonomaWC00Fun, food and a family atmosphere on this great tourSo much fun! This a great way to learn about the AMAZING food in this region. The tour guide was great - very friendly and charming. There were two of us and the tour consisted of a small group (about 8 people) so it was social but not overbearing. The tastings are also quite substantial so you will not go hungry!
- DPark8800Best tour to enjoy all the traditional food of Emilia-Romagna에밀리아 로마냐 지역의 특산품을 한 번에 즐길 수 있는 최고의 투어였습니다. It is the best tour to enjoy all the traditional food of the Emilia-Romagna region. We booked an English tour, and the tour guide is very fluent in English and has a lot of background knowledge. Thanks to him, we could fully enjoy the tour with useful information. The only thing to note is that the balsamic tour place was different from the place written in the tour information. Of course, the new balsamic factory was great too, so we could try a variety of delicious balsamic products. I recommend that the tour company update tour information avoid misunderstandings.
- Robert D00A celebration of the essential ingredientsAn excellent tour. Each stop had its own individual appeal and Matteo was a phenomenal guide. Seeing the artisanal approach to each of the three small producers makes one appreciate the superior quality of these staples of local cuisine. Additionally, the chance to taste, compare and contrast the different ages of each was something that one doesn't often get the chance to do. Highly recommended.
- Teri121700Wonderful Food Tour in ParmaWe are foodies and the chance to tour the production facilities where some of our favorite foods are made was the highlight of our trip to Italy! We were picked up at our hotel and enjoyed a small group tour. Matteo was an EXCELLENT guide! He explained the process of cheese making and ham curing from start to finish in a way that was easy to understand. Then he took us to the balsamic vinegar facility and the family representative took us through their production. Matteo made sure that everyone understood - English, French and Italian. It was a full day tour because these farms are spread out in the Parma region. However, after sampling the cheese, ham and vinegar, we didn't mind the drive at all! Matteo spoke excellent English, was a careful driver and had a deep knowledge of all aspects of this tour. We highly recommend this experience.
- Q2405AMjoshuak00Not to be missedGreat experience with the host (Sergio). It was his first time going truffle hunting as he was only 1 week on the job. Despite this, he was professional and well versed in food having been a chef in a previous life. On to the experience, we were lucky because despite it raining, we managed to still find truffles even managing to find a (rare) giant white truffle on top of the regular black ones. Afterwards, we were treated to a light meal with some of the truffles found. The farm makes their own olive oil and the quality of those were superb. Not to be missed if you want something different other than the standard parmesan cheese or parma ham factory tours. Though note if you are solo travelling you may need to pay a bit more.

This was such a lovely experience. We were the only ones on this tour so we really felt like VIPs as it's currently low season and we took the afternoon tour. Matteo our host was very friendly and chatty. It was so easy to get along with him and converse. His English was really good which was great as we spoke no Italian. Note that the cheese process happens in the morning so if your doing the afternoon trip you will miss seeing how it's all made.

Review: The cheese tour was very enjoyable. Our host Matteo was very knowledgable and really explained the process from start to finish perfectly. We were told in detail about each step and how it worked which was so fascinating and interesting. It is very labour intensive so you really have to love your job and be passionate about what you do to enjoy it.
From collecting the milk from the different farmers, to stirring the milk and turning the cheese every hour once in their moulds etc. There are so many steps involved and it was great to discover about it. I loved the drumming of cheese which is the part the inspector does to test the quality of the cheese and be able to grade it. If it grade one it gets the seal of approval.
The best part of the journey was also getting to meet Matteo's dad who was the cheese maker. It was lovely to see him at work and really admirable how he was able to turn each of the cheese wheel around. He also cut off a tiny slice of the rind for my hubby and I to try. It was definitely as our host Matteo described it rubbery and at some points slightly squeaky when you chewed on the cheese.
The last part of the journey was to go into the shop and taste the assortment of different aged Parmigiano Reggiano. We tried the 12 months, 18 and 30 months I think with different dips from balsamic to pear jam each paired to go with the ageing of the cheese.
I highly recommend doing this tour if your coming to Parma and have a few hours to spare.

Really enjoyed our tour with Mattia. We learned so much about the making of Parmigiano Reggiano cheese. The cheesemaker, Mattia's father, made sure we saw each step of the process. Mattia was knowledgeable and friendly. The drive to the Parma ham factory was lovely and the tour informative. We will never again complain about the cost of authentic, DOCG Parmigiano Reggiano or Prosciutto de Parma - absolutely delicious!

Matteo did a fabulous job of taking us to to both locations (we also did the vinegar tour and i highly recommend it, especially when they bring out the samples with vanilla gelato). Sabrina (in the office) did a great job for us as well. This trip was planned for a year ago and our hotel had closed due to the virus. Sabrina gave me confidence in my hotel pick. She also arranged for transportation from the airport in Milan to our hotel doorstop. We needed to get to Lake Como (for a wedding) and again Sabrina was able to arrange for us. I thought the prices of the tour and the transportation were all very reasonable. Everyone that we dealt with was very professional (and they all spoke English!)

I joined this tour in late Dec as last minute, we only booked this the day before as it is recommended by the hotel we stayed. It was a fantastic experience as the tour is so special and the tour guide, Mattia is very nice and knowledgable, his English is very good and he explained the cheese making process step by step. In addition, we are in a small group only 5 ppl which allow us to ask many questions. The cheese maker is his dad and I see the passion when he showed us all the details.
The tour would pick us up in the hotel and drive to the cheese factory early in the morning, we spent about 2 hour there, we tasted the 18,24 months aged cheese after the visit. The cheese is so delicious that you can’t stop eating. You can also buy some cheese at the shop. The price is much cheaper than outside.
After cheese factory we went to the Parma Ham factory which is also a very special experience. As a city person you would definitely live it. You can try Parma Ham and wine after the tour
Around 2pm the tour finished and mattia will dice you back to the hotel!
Really worth and must do in Parma! Highly recommend

My family and I took this tour to experience the process of making parmigiano cheese and Parma ham. Since my family and I were travelling from Bologna, we had made arrangements to get picked up from the train station in Parma by the tour company. We were picked up by a tour van and taken to a farm which was attached to the cheese factory. Our tour guide Mattia was very knowledgeable in the process of making Parmigiano cheese since he had worked with his family in a similar setting for several years. We were able to experience the process of making cheese with the exception of milking the cows and carrying the milk. We were able to taste Parmigiano in its earliest stage when it is warm, soft and unsalted. The process to get it started is quick, though it takes a lot of patience and time to let it age. Tasting of aged Parmigiano at 24 and 36 months was done with some red wine and infused balsamic. Once we were done with the cheese tour we were transported to Langhirano where the Parma ham is made. The factory provided us with hair nets and coats to enter their facilities to prevent any contamination. Mattia explained the process, answering all of our questions. At the end of the tour we were treated to a tasting of the ham with some wine and bread. We wanted to buy some to bring home to the US, but after a quick google search discovered that it is not allowed. Both tours were super informative and flavorful, highly recommended.

Mattia, our tour guide, explained the process of making Parmigiano Cheese so well that we came to appreciate the labor intensive work of the cheese makers (his parents), the farmers & others much more. Now, every time we eat a piece of cheese, we would think of these workers. Mattia was patient in answering our questions, especially my husband’s who is very inquisitive. He hesitantly agreed to join this 5 hours tour- thinking it might be too long. He enjoyed it so much that he was surprised that the hours passed by so quickly. The Parma ham visit was also interesting. This tour was fantastic and a must for all visitors who like Parmigiano cheese and parma ham. Thank you Mattia.

Half day tour, very friendly guide, prompt on time pickup from our hotel very convenient service. The cheese production very interesting and learnt a lot, especially as the cheese maker was our guides father. Includes a tasting of the three different aged cheeses with wine. Then on to Parma ham factory, to see and learn about its production again very understanding with a tasting. This tour is not as long and comprehensive as some in the area but it does offer good value for a first time traveller.

Excellent! It was a very informative tour, our guide Mattia was amazing and gave us all the details and answered all our questions about the manufacturing of Parmiggiano Reggiano and Prosciutto di Parma.
We were able to taste some cheese of different maduration stages and a delicious ham both accompanied with good wine.
All in all it was a great experience and we recommend anyone visiting Parma to book this tour.

We had a great experience with Mattia. We started out in a small Parmigiano production, met the cows and the cheese makers (watching them complete their morning work) and tried the delicious cheese. We moved to a prosciutto factory and learned the methods of production. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the process for both artisanal productions. He connected each aspect of our prosciutto and Parmigiano tour from grass to wheel of cheese and farm to beautiful leg. He was personable and curious, also giving us recommendations for restaurants in the city as well as insisting we go to the Parma game that evening (and recommending where we sit). This was an unforgettable couple of hours of cheese, meat, wine and great conversation.

The guide is a family member of a cheese family and has worked at the exacting, 365 days a year, magical process and explains it beautifully. I recommend this experience highly. It ends with a lunch of Prosciutto di Parma, delicious!! Small group of 7-8 is perfect. It starts at 8:30 AM because that’s when the magic happens every day. The owner greeted us also and we saw it from cows to counter!

I will be training in from Bologna the early morning prior to the tour. I saw in reviews people said they got picked up from the train station? When I look at the Itinerary it says it starts at Parcheggio Est which appears to be over an hour walk from the train station. Is this true it is far from the train station and if so is there taxi or how do you get to the starting point?
Thanks!

Sorry, I haven't been keeping up with the Italy posts. I hope you were able to make the tour. If you email him a question, he will respond quickly. The pick-up was in front of a big hotel just across the street from the train station in Parma.
Hello,
Can we meet at the location of the tour as we will be staying in Torrechiara?

My family would like to take the tour but we have 8 adults and two children. I see the van only holds 8. We have cars is it possible to have one car follow the van so we can accommodate 10 people on the tour.
Is this tour completely booked for the rest of 2022? I want to book for later in May but everyday has a line through it. It is the same throughout the year.

Did you ever get an answer on this? I'm trying to figure out the what train I should book after the tour. It says the tour is 5 hours, so I'm assuming 9-2 but I'm not sure when we will be able to get back to the train station. Grazie.
Where are the two locations? I noticed one tour group offered a location inside Parma for the cheese and one inside Reggio Emilia for the ham. I am looking for more country side with the tour, if possible. Also, how is Covid affecting the travel. We are three adults who have our vaccinations but we want to be careful.
