About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- marisolz9560 contributionsBest hosts and paradise ever!!The best Word that describes it: ESPECTACULAR! Trip is really good, especially because of the cruise staff. They are the best party promoters.Written December 4, 2024
- Copper1210 contributionsEvery stay at XPM is an experience. One that is filled with a beautiful resort and meeting old friends and making new.If you haven't been to Excellence Playa Mujeres (XPM) then you are missing out on a wonderful experience. This our 26th trip to XPM and it always seems to get better each time. Not only is the resort beautiful, but the staff is so family like. Each visit we renew old friendships and make new and wonderful friends. Everyone, at the resort, just can't do enough for you. When you get out of the transportation you are met by the ones who set the tone. This time we were met by Mario who escorted us to the Excellence Club there we were checked in by Valeria. She was quick and got us through checkin and to our room in minimal time. We changed and went directly to the Excellence Club Pool where we were met by Jullybed and Alejandro who were the Pool Concierges who were excellent and made sure we had everything we needed for the duration of out stay. Our pool server was Vigilio who has an every present smile with, what can I help you with. It was great to meet up with Jakeline Zacarias who is the director of Guest Services. She is the epitome of perfection. She is always there and makes a special effort to meet with you each day to see if there is anything she can do and makes dinner reservatiions for us. Such a lovely and talented lady. Another super talented lady is Vilma Montalvo, the resort manager. She too is always there and makes a special effort to speak to you personally to make sure all is well. We had dinner and lunch at the Oregano and Estaban was our server for dinner and Benjamin for lunch. Both excellent and very attentive. For dinner we ate at the Magna restaurant. There we had Lorena as out server, who was awesome and we always request her, Griselda as the hostess, and Gloria is the manager. A wonderful experience all around and for breakfast at Magna our server was Alan. Very affable and super attentive. One dinner was at the Spice Restaurant and most of all our very favorite server, Ceasar, was there and served us. A great person and all around family man. At Chez Isabelle we were met by Candelaria, the manager, whom we have know for many years and is a super lady. We were fortunate to dine at the Grill two times. Each time we were met by Gina, the hostess, who is a lovely lady. We had Celso as a server the first time and Silva the second time. Each were very attentive and excellent. The Grill Captain is Josafaf. What a wonderful gentleman he was. Very gracious and affable. We even requested a special seafood dinner and Chef Jose prepared and brought it to our table. Hopefullly I didn't leave any friends out. If I did, I certainly apologize. We have out reservations for April and look forward to seeing all of our friends again, and making new ones.Written November 30, 2024
- Laura S0 contributionsAvoid this tour operator who tries to sell you their goods instead of looking after youThis trip could have been incredible and should have only taken half the time! It could easily have been 7 hours instead of 13! Firstly we were not collected from our hotel due to a mix up and we were then asked to delay our trip by 1 day and go the following day! We should have left it there! The Chichén Itzá was amazing as was the cenoté however our guide Roberto was only interested in selling us overpriced merchandise. Three hours was wasted in the morning changing and waiting for our coach only to be taken to a local ‘village’ and given the hard sale of their hugely overpriced goods. We were in the middle of nowhere and couldn’t leave. All this took until after lunchtime when we were fed at the village and finally got on our way to the Chichén Itzá, now 1.30pm!! We were told not to buy souvenirs from the local stalls there when I fact they were cheap and much better than at the local village’. Thankfully we had a different, excellent Mayan guide who made the attraction come to life with his excellent t knowledge and enthusiasm. The cenoté was great but we were not looked after at either attraction by Roberto. We only had an hour here and everything cost extra - life jackets, lockers etc which was not explained beforehand. On the bus on the way home we had another hard sale experience when a n invited ‘student’ tried to talk us all into buying his alcohol with our pictures imprinted on, which had been taken at the ‘village’. All in all I would avoid this tour company and go with someone else for a much shorter, caring experience where you are looked after.Written February 27, 2024
- I7783SYsarahh0 contributionsPick someone elseI would not recommend Cancun Tours. While it was one of the cheaper tours to Chichen Itza, we still had to pay fees… when we checked out with trip advisor it said $20 usd per person when we got to the tour it was actually $30 per person. Half of the bus was Spanish speaking and half of the bus was English speaking. The tour catered to those who were Spanish speaking, giving an entire hour and a half of information in Spanish and there was very little (maybe 5 minutes of english). The bus was very hot, with several people looking like they were going to pass out. The road was rough and made several people feel sick. It was a terrible experience overall… would not recommend this company.. get a smaller group with an actual tour guide where they will provide you with information. If I could leave a zero star review I would. I also understand that they had a large bus full of people… but saying there is a bilingual tour, but provide ing 5 minutes of information… or saying $20 extra a person, but when we go to get on the bus it is an extra $30. Maybe a different company would be better, but I would not recommend this one! Chichen Itza and a visiting a cenote are well worth it, but you will regret picking this company..Written November 11, 2023
- colinv5030 contributionsGood experienceOur experience was better than expected. We had read the negative reviews and were apprehensive about our tour. However it turned out to be a good experience. Galo was a good guide and although his English is not his first language tried hard to accommodate the English speaking passengers. The tour was not rushed and we had time to do everything.Written July 27, 2023
- aacienski0 contributionsRent a Car and See Chichen Itza on Your Own!Similar to other reviews, we were disappointed to find this tour did not stick to the itinerary positioned and found opportunities to nickel and dime us along the way. My husband and I visited Cancun on our Honeymoon and wanted to see Chichen Itza for our one excursion and throughout the entire experience kept telling each other how much we wish we would have just rented a car and gone on our own (it would have probably been cheaper too). It was our crazy Honeymoon story that so many couples have, but on the bright side it did bring us closer as we sought to cheer each other up through a 14 hour day in which we had no autonomy. Ultimately, we should have gotten off once our guide said we wouldn't have gotten back until 10pm (4 hours different than what everyone on the bus expected), and even considered paying for a cab back to our resort when we were done at Chichen Itza, as our tour guide informed us of a stop to a 2nd (unnecessary) cenote and a stop for dinner that we had to pay for. I also want to note that our tour guide felt the need to lecture us on how we should not buy any cheap souvenirs and yet every single place we went had at minimum 15 gift shops. Additionally, our guide, who posed himself as a spiritual expert, made an odd comment speculating about a bodily issue he thought I had (he told me he suspected I had an issue with my hips, which I do not) which added to my discomfort that day. My husband and I had many ideas for improvement, but mainly that this was all communicated on the Trip Advisor page prior to departure. If we had known what we were getting into, it would have allowed us to plan appropriately, but we felt trapped and misinformed. Net net - skip the tour and go to Chichen Itza on your own. You'll have a much more pleasant experience!Written July 7, 2023
- karenhappyhollibobs0 contributionsGreat day with a couple of nigglesWe booked this via our TUI rep. The bus to port was awful, we were the last pick up so four adults squashed onto back seat with those in front basically sitting on your lap , it was very cramped minibus , very uncomfortably crammed in , I was travel sick on arrival to port due to this, we did however get better seats on the way back as I told our guide about the trip going out and she was very helpful. We had no AC working on the way back on the same size cramped minibus, some of the guests had enjoyed many cocktails though the day and this was not a good ride home!! However It was a lovely day, we got a “ privilege “ tour which meant there were only 25 on our catamaran, which was great , wouldn’t have been as comfortable with more than that. The team got you on board swiftly and were very good, drinks served straight away and a snack,.then stop off for snorkelling, Oscar was helpful and informative throughout. We got to the private beach pretty much first off before anyone else, lunch was served straight away at 11. 20, bit early for me, but that’s just me. you get 90 mins for lunch, drinks and use of beds on the beach, food and drinks ok, felt like the drinks were watered down as no flavour in them so we only had one drink. Once your 90 mins is up you need to pay 150MXN for the use of your bed and could pay $10 for further open bar . We didn’t pay the bar just had a walk along the beach and bought a beer overlooking the beautiful ocean when we wanted one. Our privilege package meant we had 3 hours on the beach, the water is gorgeous and the atmosphere is relaxed. Once back on the catamaran drinks offered again, then a quick dip in the ocean if you wish. The team on board all excellent, we really enjoyed it. Quick tip though, the guide when booking says towels included, so we didn’t take one, towels are only included on the boat, so when on the beach, you’re just lying on the beds which isn’t great. Take your own towel!Written July 3, 2023

- 184queh0 contributionsFind a different tour if you interested in Chichen Itza only.Overall ok experience. Pro 1. get to see Chichen Itza, wish Trip advisor find a tour just for just chichen itza and nothing else. Con. 1. Tour company Guide speak more Spanish than English, 2. Feel like a sales pitch when you are a the 1st Cenote. you are herd into a shed with souvenirs that you get pressure to buy from local Mayan worker. 3. Lunch was Ok. nothing special at the Cenote. 4. Both Cenote we visited the water look Stagnant so i did not swim. Its ground water but its not moving so you can see the algae growth. Not what i expected. 5. Once at Chichen Itza the tour company hand you to a Chichen Itza Guide. quite informative but if its a hot day Just skip the guide and walk on your own where you can find shade. 6. Vallalolid visit was short 25 Mins but i found its was perfect. 7. Wish the Bus allow you to take number 2 in the restroom as all town and bathroom stop was short and crowded.Written June 1, 2023
- terkaca0 contributionsA mass tourism trip with no unique and local experienceThe tour was a bit disappointing. First there was a stop at a "Mayan village" that was not in the description of the tour and was basically just a tourist trap to get you to purchase various goods that they claimed were made by real Mayans. It was all very cheap (selling 3min "Temezcal ceremonies" for 200 pesos etc.) and totally pointless. This was also where lunch was served at 11am(!). Lunch does not include beverages and your water bottle is not welcome. You either don't have anything to drink or you have to pay. The lunch was average at best. After that, we went to Chichen Itza - since we stopped at the "Mayan village" we arrived right at noon time and with no shade around the pyramid, it was quite an uncomfortable fry fest. But ok, the guide has insightful information (talked for one hour) and we got an hour to wander around afterwards. Next stop was the cenote - I want to be clear here, if you are expecting that this is in the nature, you'll be disappointed. The cenote is nothing but a tourist attraction with restaurants and souvenir shops all around. This is also where you'll have to pay extra if you want to swim in the cenote (which you should, the water is really nice). You HAVE to wear a life vest if you want to swim and the vest is 60 pesos. Plus another 60 pesos for a locker. If you really want to experience Yucatan nature and the cenotes, this is not the best place. Last stop was Valladolid, a beautiful city, but unfortunately you'll only get 30mins to see it. Over all this is a mass tourism experience. Unnecessary stop at a tourist trap "Mayan village" takes away the time you could have spent in Valladolid or driving to a cenote that is a little less tourist attraction and more a connection with nature.Written May 24, 2023
- 773daisyr0 contributionsCool experienceThe tour guide was great! He had us laughing the whole time. I rated it a 4 stars bc the ATVs are old and in terrible condition. I’m an experienced driver and mine kept pulling to the right and felt like it was going to tip over. The food was good. The Ziplines were fun but climbing up to that big one was scary, half the group ended up turning around and walking back down half way up lol also don’t expect caring staff bc they will not try to help calm your nerves! It’s more like pull up your big girl/boy pants and go.Written May 16, 2023
- tprez20190 contributionsWould recommendWe really enjoyed this excursion, even though it was a very long day. The only complaint we had was, we had to transfer transportation twice before meeting up with the tour bus, and once again on the way back, also our bus stalled 3 times on the way home. The tour guide on the bus was hard to understand at times, There are extra fees, if you want endless drinks, $18, if you didn't bring your own bug spray they sell a small bottle of it on the bus for $10, and the $20 per person environmental fee, so bring extra cash for that All in all it was a good dayWritten April 24, 2023
- G7311WVsharonb0 contributionsIsla Mujures day excursionBooked a trip with Tui shop before leaving UK,they do offer several trips to this island, this is advertised as: Isla Mujures Catamaran cruise with beach club lunch. We were told this trip was 8hrs long, but it was actually 13.5hrs. we were not advised of 2.5hr drive first to pick up other passengers then travel to Cancun to pick up Catamaran, same coming back, so actually over 5hrs were traveling. Trip was not organised very well, got to Isla Mujures told we had 2hrs free time, but first had to go and get a band to allow us to get back on boat, so crossed the beach, through a shop to high Street, cross the road into a silver shop where we get the band. Had 2hrs free time, got back to boat, boarded, then told we were moving to next pier to Dock for lunch, why they couldn't just tell us to meet 4hrs later at next pier was beyond us and other passengers instead we had to get off boat again,go to beach club, where buffet lunch was served, and told we had another 1.5hrs free time!! We believe we were miss sold wrong trip,as told by sales advisor in store, this was small island, with no cars, just golf buggies to get around, so imagine our surprise when we docked and beach was rammed with people, walk behind beach and busy road with shops and holiday makers. Spoke next day to rep in hotel about trip, was promised I would hear back by time I went home 5 days later via Tui app messenger, but nothing, left till Saturday before I came home Sunday, spoke to a different rep,who again said he would look into it,but no reply as yet from anyone at Tui.. Staff on board boat could not do enough for us,but organisation needs to improve as well as information given.Written April 11, 2023

- Patrick K0 contributionsRecommended!Booked half a day in advance and were afraid that it was probably too late and the trip will not work out for us, but everything went pretty well actually! The instructions were sent at around 7:30p.m. and were clear. Read carefully, because they will most likely pick you up on the outside of your hotel next to the main road. The people saying they were not picked up were most likely waiting at the wrong spot. Ivan and our driver (forgot the name unfortunately) were pretty nice and entertained us during the trip. When they picked us up they were driving a green bus which does not have a writing on it. It is just a neutral regular green bus, so do not look out for a bus which says something like „Tour bus to Chichen It‘za“. Ivan told us a lot about Mayan history and culture. Very interesting! I would have given the trip 5/5 stars, but the time we could spend in the last city (Valladolid) of just half an hour is pretty short. Especially because the city is so pretty and you don’t have time to explore. Instead we spent probably the longest time in a place where some Mayas live with shops and a restaurant and so on. I think the time there could be shorter to have more time for the last city. Be sure to bring a lot of water with you, sun blocker and a hat, because it is really hot in Chichen It‘za! Overall a great experience.Written April 6, 2023
