Lots of great information through the tour about Cabo and San Jose Del Cabo. Did not make us feel pressured to buy anything and neither did the stores we visited. Boat tour to the arches and around Cabo( the captain was amazing on the boat don’t remember his name) Glass blowing, Jewellery store(the velvet box) and Tequila tasting(west coast tequila tasting) all were fantastic. I'll be honest, I was a little hesitant this little adventure would even pan out. 2 Hour drive there along with a 2 Hour drive back. What if we go through all the hassle and we don't even find the whale sharks?
The trip started off very early in the morning, meeting at Cabo Adventures before we boarded our huge bus that would be transporting 40 of us adventurers up to La Paz. **Recommend that you do NOT wait to be the last to board the bus, like me, or else you'll get the way way way back of the bus, middle seat.
Mario was our bus guide (not driver) and he was funny, friendly, and very very clear on what to expect from our day! He passed out sandwiches at the start **recommend that you eat the sandwich as your taco lunch comes after your swim with the whale sharks and that could be hours! We stopped at the cutest organic farm/market about an hour into the drive for a restroom break and shopping (there is only one toilet there so the line is long - another reason to not sit at the back of the bus).
When we arrived at the marina in La Paz, they had a hang out area for us to change into our wet suits, place all items we didn't need on the boat in a secure spot, and wait to board the boats. We were introduced to our guide, Joe! He was fantastic. He was fun, friendly, and again very clear with directions and expectations. **Recommend that you practice some endurance swim training before you go! This was a swim, my friends! You will work your little booty off trying to keep up with the whale shark. This is not a jump in and fly with the current kind of swim. You will WORK! But, Joe was there to help anyone that needed help! Joe assisted 10 swimmers, each taking 3 jumps in our short 2 hours on the water. He was incredible and insanely fit to do this (day in and day out!). Joe really ensures that you have an amazing experience with the whale sharks.
This establishment is truly ON IT with regard to how organized they are. I was impressed with the process by which they take care of 40 people so seamlessly. Part of this adventure that is very much out of their control is working with the MX Authorities. But, you could tell they knew the process very well and were very organized and prompt so they could ensure their boats would have access for their customers.
I highly recommend this tour. Mario and Joe made this such a fun day for us and it was 100% worth the very long day! Also, bring tip money! These guys work so hard to make sure we are having an awesome adventure, making memories! They deserve some financial love for all their incredible work.

This was an amazing adventure and my husband and I had a terrific time! Swimming with whale sharks was a bucket list item for me and I had questions about the trip, so I reached out to Cabo Adventures via email and Karen R. was great at answering all of my questions and helped me arrange and pay for the Swim with the Whale Sharks in advance of our trip to Cabo.
It is a long day but I considered every part of the day an adventure and enjoyed it all, including the stop at the coffee shop/market on the way to La Paz. Mario was a great teacher and host on the bus to La Paz. He was excellent at explaining what to expect and kept us all interested with his knowledge and humor. Luis, our driver, transported us safely to and from La Paz.
Our guide on the boat, Joe, was excellent and helped and encouraged each of us to prepare and then swim with the whale sharks. The number of boats going out into the bay is controlled by the Mexican government and is a lottery system with different time slots. Our bus group (divided into 3 boats) all got the same time slot (lucky!). The 5 couples in our boat each swam successfully 3 times with a whale shark with the help of Joe and our boat captain, Beto. It was great to have 3 different chances because (at least for us) it took that long to feel comfortable with setting up, jumping in, swimming to Joe and then swimming along side the whale shark! Joe also took amazing videos and photos and we did purchase those separately ($50USD). It is helpful to have previous snorkel experience and be comfortable in the water. I am so grateful to have experienced this and Cabo Adventures helped make every aspect enjoyable.

we just stayed in San José for 2 weeks and this was high on my list of things I wanted to do and I'm so glad we did, the absolute best and most incredible excursion I've ever done! it leaves at 6 am so be aware it is a long day, it's also a 2 hour drive each way to get to La Paz. on the drive up Mario gave us a good idea what to expect and the rules of being around the animals, when we got there we had a bit of time before our boat was to leave so we even got to check out the malecon. when it was our turn to go out it's a quick ride to where the sharks feed and we quickly saw several, the boat is divided into groups so there's no more than 4 people in the water at once so the sharks don't get overwhelmed. once in the water with these huge animals our guide Joe who was amazing makes sure you get close but not too close, it was the most amazing experience swimming alongside them and being close enough to look it in the eye and watch it's huge mouth open as it feeds and seeing it's gills working. their was over a dozen sharks in the bay and we also saw manta rays, afterwards we went to a restaurant just at the dock where we started for lunch which was very good! overall this was the best thing I've ever done and can't recommend this enough, such a unique and special experience. also Joe takes pictures and videos which you can by for $50, quite a good price!

Mario made the realistic unpredictability & expectations of the nature adventure clear which was essential to making the very long day fun!!!
Captain Luigi & Mario made an awesome team to successfully give us an AMAZING EXHILARATING experience swimming with the whale sharks ~ I highly recommend!!!
Bring towels & warm sweatshirt for the return ride on the boat to stay warm in the wind when your wet (I was COLD)
Luis Torres was a professional, pleasant great bus driver!

The whole tour was very fun, and our guide Mario did a great job at explaining the day's itinerary as well as the rules for swimming with the sharks on the bus ride to La Paz. The whole operation was very organized and ran smoothly, despite the potential for uncertainty with following all the regulations set out by the government. We were lucky enough to have Mario as our guide for the swimming portion of the tour as well; he captured great footage of the swims and gave clear instructions that made us feel comfortable in the water. The food provided back at the marina restaurant was amazing as well: chips and guacamole before swimming and delicious chicken (or fish) tacos afterwards. Overall a great experience!

Snorkeling alongside these majestic gentile giants is definitely an experience of a lifetime! Mario has a gift for efficiently explaining the rules, procedures, and what to expect. Our captain, Beto, skillfully navigated the boat to optimize our opportunity to safely experience the sharks as well as helping us to know how to move on the boat. Our guide for the whale shark encounters, Joe, clearly explained what we needed to know prior to entering the water. He carefully and adeptly gave us guidance while in the water to safely view their gills moving, mouth opening to take in plankton without disturbing these magnificent creatures. Joe also took professional quality video while keeping both us and the whale sharks safe. We were also given sandwiches and water for the bus ride; stopped at a strawberry farm for an opportunity to purchase more food and refreshment; as well as a delicious and hearty lunch (this was excellent with locally prepared and fresh food and included in the price). A very full day filled with amazing food and quality experiences. This crew, from the bus ride to the boat and snorkeling, are highly professional, friendly, helpful and fun to be with. We LOVED this unique and incredible experience!

A must do if you visit Cabo! We have been chasing the elusive Whale Shark for a while now and finally got to see it up close and in the wild. Despite not optimal conditions due to weather and animal habit patterns, Mario , Cesar, Dante, and Juan were able to find a 24 foot version of this elusive creature for us to see.
A really professional operation from pick up to drop off. And even if we hadn’t found one, the day was well spent cruising the bay and enjoying a fantastic lunch by the water.
Highly recommend and would love to do again if the opportunity presents itself.
Planning factors:
1. the day starts early bc there is a 2.5 hour transit to the marina. Snacks and water provided on the bus. However there is a small cafe at the check in that has coffee and small snacks for purchase as well.
2. This activity is highly regulated by the government so the team has to stick to the timetables provided and the windows from which they can work. So key word of the day in the words of Mario is „patience“. Sometime the boats all can’t go out at the same time and therefore there can staggered starts and stops for all involved. No big deal. Just don’t make plans for the evening, throw away the watch and enjoy the day. And if you finish first the tacos are great and the bar is open at that point.
3. You are going to get home late. So again just don’t make plans.
4. This is people vs Mother Nature and while their rate of success is high, nature always gets a vote. So weather, animal patterns, and other factors that you haven’t thought of might preclude you from seeing these creatures up close. Mario was very honest with us at the beginning that this might be one of those days but the whole industry bonded together to find a shark willing to hang out. But had it not happened, it still would have been a great day.
A must do, and the team making it happen cannot be better!

We had a really great time on this adventure. Our guide, Mario, was very knowledgeable and passionate about the animals. He was so obviously experienced and comfortable around them and took care to protect them as well as keep us safe and comfortable. We were very close to these amazing creatures. The food was good. The only downside was that the day was a bit longer than expected because of the way the boats get the lottery to go into the area every day. It ended up being a 13 hour day, so I don’t recommend planning anything for afterward. But HIGHLY recommend this tour

If you enjoy wildlife encounters, then I definitely recommend a trip to swim with the whale sharks in La Paz - just don't use Cabo Adventures. They are not up front about the lottery system. On our first try, we were picked up a 5:50AM and didn't learn until 7:00AM that there was a lottery, and we were not selected to go. We wanted to do this so badly that we tried again later in the week and did get to go. However, we were picked up at 5:50AM and dropped off at 9:00PM and shared this experience packed shoulder to shoulder with a total of 14 other travelers on the boat. With a smaller company, you should be able to enjoy this amazing experience with better communication, a shorter day, and fewer other people. That said, our individual guides were terrific, and they got us up close and personal with the whale sharks.

Hello Guide,
We are wondering if you could show a picture of the vehicle that we will be riding in to get to La Paz, Our experience has been that we are crammed into a mini-van with no air-conditioning!
Also, How should we dress for this tour?
Will you pick up and Gran Solmar

Is the tour available in mid October? About how long is the boat ride out to the whales...I know, they
move around, but is there a general area? Is it a 30 minute boat ride...or a 2 hour boat ride? Thank you!

I don't think so...websites state their dates. You might get lucky, but it might be too early? It is VERY strenuous (I'm in my 60s and did it) and well worth it. We went in April and there were only a couple around by that time, but we did get in the water and up close! Only need one.

ello! We would love to book your tour. We live in the Caribbean on a boat and go snorkelling weekly so this is an extension of our life. We have a 5 almost 6 year old who would live to do this. He is a strong swimmer and snorkels all the time. Would he be allowed to join us, we would take responsibility for him.

I’m not the your operator, you should contact them. I do believe that there is an age restriction and I believe it is 15 or 16. Even in Mexico the government has rules.
