During most snorkel tours one simply goes snorkeling after being given the equipment. In contrast, this is an educational snorkel tour suitable for the entire family. The tour starts with a short PowerPoint presentation on the ecology and natural history of the area, and also covers the most common species encountered on the reef. The presentation provides an understanding of the reef and enables one to recognize the many species of fish and invertebrates encountered. Coral growth is poorly developed in the central Gulf of California, but this tour takes place on the only reef with extensive coral growth in the region. During the snorkel tour you will be accompanied by a marine biologist that will assist you in finding and identifying the many species of fish and invertebrates on the reef. After the snorkel tour the group reconvenes to address the observations using a variety of field guides provided, while enjoying freshly made ceviche together with a variety of refreshments.

      Three hour cruise…lifetime of memories.
Once in a lifetime views of Sea of Cortez. Some of the most beautiful views on planet Earth. Mike was kind, friendly and explained various aspects of nature, history, and more. We measure life by experiences that take our breaths away…this is the golden ticket. Beauty beyond description.

Great pair of hikes in the desert.
There were five of us in total, including our guide, Mike. He was very informative about the landscape and habitats that we encountered during our hikes! It was very surprising to find some very (temperature) cool spots out in the desert. The foliage is so powerful in that sense. Afterward, we ate some ceviche on tostada shells. It was such a refreshing way to end a hike! The timeline was accurate, too.

      Wonderful experience in San Carlos
What an absolutely amazing experience!!! Michael is so knowledgeable, friendly, funny and easy going. We learned so much as well and saw things that most people have never seen in this region. The hikes he takes you on are not ones others are doing. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking. I loved every minute of it. We ended with a little picnic and even that I learned a little secret on how to make ceviche even better. It was such a wonderful treat that my children had bought me as a birthday gift. I can’t thank them and Michael enough for allowing us to see and do something that would never have been on our radar and to learn so much along the way.

Best tour ever!!!!! It was beautiful, fun and the ceviche was delicious! You will have a blast!!!! Make sure you use the restroom before your tour. There are no restrooms on board. Wear your bathing suit and water shoes because you will get wet. We saw dolphins and it was breathtaking!

I recently took a cruise tour in San Carlos, and it was an exceptional experience! Mike led us on a fascinating tour where we saw dolphins 🐬 and blue-footed boobies 🐦. He also organized snorkeling 🤿 and treated us to delicious ceviche 🐠. Throughout the tour, we learned a lot about the local marine life. It was an educational and enjoyable experience that I highly recommend!

Amazing experience with an amazing guide
I took a tour of the Nacapule Canyon with Mike as my guide both because of the great reviews on TripAdvisor and because he is a biologist. Let me say up front this is a hike that is mostly trail, but does includes clamoring up and down some boulders, so, you would be wise to wear shoes with tread on the soles and the hike is a bit challenging. That said, what an experience this was!! Despite the fact the wider area receives only about 10 inches / 30 cm of rain per year and essentially is desert, the Nacapule Canyon is a micro-climate which collects rain and actually has pools of water. Consequently, the flora includes palms and other deciduous plants which thrive in the canyon, but almost nowhere else. Mike, meanwhile, was awesome. Not only did he take the time to point out specific plants, but he explained what roles they play in the eco-system. One species of palm, for example, forms shirts as the palm fronds die and hang down covering the trunks. Those 'skirts' serve as the home for birds, bats, and other small animals. There were plants with flowers which sustain a particular species of hummingbird. There were pools of water which were some of the few places where Leopard Frogs live. And then, at the end of hike, Mike set up a table. covered it with a table cloth, and served ceviche and drinks !!! Mike was exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable. I simply can't say enough good things about him and the hike was amazing in the sense the flora and fauna of the Nacapule Canyon are such a contrast to the surrounding area. This simply was a great, great experience.

We recently went on a snorkeling trip guided by Michael, a knowledgeable marine biologist, and it was an absolutely amazing experience. Michael was a great guide, sharing fascinating insights about the local marine species before we headed out to see them in their natural habitat.

Seeing the fish and other marine life up close, after learning about them, was truly impressive. Michael's expertise and friendly demeanor made the experience even more enjoyable. My 10-year-old particularly loved it, being able to connect what we learned to what we saw in the water.

This trip exceeded our expectations, blending education and adventure perfectly. We left with a deeper appreciation for the marine environment and memories that will last a lifetime. Highly recommended for families and anyone interested in marine life!

This tour was excellent, first we saw a presentation of the species of the area and topics of general interest of the Cortez Sea, then we moved to the dive point and everything was very good. Michael always with excellent availability to show us the species in the snorkeling area, it was a very pleasant experience. In the end the very rich Cochito ceviche. Highly recommended for the whole family.

Mike is absolutely fantastic!!! He took the time before we even got to the water to explain the geographic diversity of the reef we were going to explore. We saw an abundance of super cool fish species and got to handle some starfish and other cool marine life!! After the water time we spent some time talking about the things we saw and snacking on some fresh ceviche. I would highly recommend this tour with Mike!! You get way more than just a snorkeling tour!! 👍👍

Number one, Michael is highly knowledgeable and knows the reefs and marine life very well and personally guided our snorkeling experience, pointing out special corals, different fish, and other marine invertebrates. Number two, we met beforehand for his presentation and overview of the ecology, the waters, and geology of the area and he provided copies of the information to take away with us. Number three, Michael set up a beach canopy and canvas chairs for us to relax with cold drinks and fresh cerviche after our snorkel trip. A very enjoyable experience with a friendly, qualified marine biologist with attention to detail. Highly recommend this adventure!
