My family visits Mexico frequently and have gone on all sorts of "excursions" from the resort. This visit, we received a recommendation to try a private tour and we found Absolute Adventure. The experience far surpassed any group tour we have ever been on. Juan was our guide and he is exceptionally engaging. Even the drive time to get to the various destinations was fun and informative.
Definitely go with the recommended start time! We were so delighted that we had both the Coba temple AND the Cenotes we visited 100% all to ourselves. Literally NO ONE else was there but we saw the hordes of people coming in as we were leaving. I felt like that privacy allowed us to absorb the beauty and history of the places we visited so much better.
Absolute Adventure (and Juan) goes out of their way to accommodate any special requests. I just can't recommend them enough.
One other tip... book directly through their website if you can. 3rd party sites like trip advisor do take a big cut of the payment you make. We work in hospitality and knew this in advance but not everyone knows and you will want to make sure the people from the tour are receiving the funds. They absolutely earn it!

This was a fantastic tour! We had a private tour of Coba with our guide Salvador. He was very knowledgeable and shared lots of interesting information about Mayan culture with us. The cenotes we visited were beautiful and refreshing, and not commercialized - at one cenote we were the only people there! He brought goggles for us so we could snorkel, and swam with us to show us interesting parts of the cenote. Throughout the trip Salvador took pictures for us - so we have lasting mementos! The authentic Mayan lunch was delicious, and I highly recommend it! Even the time travelling was filled with great conversation. Highly recommend!!!

Hi Carolyn, could you remove this review from our profile? We don't have a guide named Salvador in our team, so you didn't this tour with our agency. Thank you, best regards

I have booked multiple private tours in the past and this one has now jumped to the top of best ever. We have visited Coba before, but this was the first time for one of the people in our party. There were 2 adults and 3 young adults. I am a diver and have dove probably 20 different Cenotes in Mexico. The rest of the group are non divers and have never seen a Cenote. The day started early 6:45 am pick up Manuel (the guide) and Rodrigo (the driver) arrived on time. After introductions and a description of the day off we went. Manuel had a goal for the day first to see Nohuch Mul the largest temple at Coba and to visit to Cenotes before the crowds.
We arrived at Coba and took bikes directly to Nohuch Mul. We have a first ever picture of the Temple with no people on or near it. We were first to climb. Then we took a leisurely ride back to the parking lot stopping at the various sites and learning about them. Manuel has an amazing knowledge on the indigenous people of Mexico and we learned a lot about classical and Pre-classical Mayan history. He just kept making the day better. We had over two hours to visit and learn about Coba, Mexico history and the indigenous people.
Next off to the two Cenotes. Each site had one other small group (2 people), however it felt like we had the Cenote to ourselves. As a diver these were PERFECT for people that have never experienced a Cenote. The formations, water clarity and the natural look made them perfect. He could not have picked two better Cenotes to visit and swim in. One person in our party said “I did not know that Cenotes were on my buck list, they are now and are amazing”
Next a stop in the city of Coba for an amazing lunch and then on the road home at approximately 1 pm and back to Hotel around 3pm. Best adventure best guided trip ever. Thank you Manuel for all the amazing information and knowing when and what to do. Rodrigo thank you for the quick, smooth and safe trip. What a great team.

We had an amazing time on our tour of Coba and the nearby cenotes! Our guide Juan was not only informative and super knowledgeable about ruins and Mayan culture, but went above and beyond to make sure the whole experience was so much fun. We were picked up on time by Juan and our driver Carlos and on the way to the ruins learned about the region and its history. We were some of the first people at Coba and got to ride through the jungle on bikes by ourselves. Then we went to two cave cenotes nearby where we were the only people swimming — something we'll never forget. Lunch afterwards at a nearby restaurant was delicious. We had the best time and would not hesitate to recommend booking with this company!

This was our first private tour. It was also our first visit to Coba and to the cenotes. Private is the way to go! Our guide was great! We got to Coba before the rest of the tours and rode our bikes in. No one around and the sites and sounds to ourselves. Amazing!
We then headed to a cenote in Tulum with a stop for lunch at a local restaurant. Wonderful local fare. Once again we had the cenote to ourselves to scuba and learn about the formations. The water was crystal clear and we even saw some fish.
With a private tour, you have flexibility and beat the crowds. I would recommend Absolute Adventure to anyone looking for a one of a kind experience with your own private guide.

This was mine and my husband's second time in Mexico and second time booking a tour with Absolute Adventure Mexico. We have only had wonderful times both tours we took with this company. There is something to be said about having a PRIVATE tour with extremely knowledgeable guides. Visiting Coba was exciting and adventurous. We climbed to the top of the large Mayan Pyramid, (the views were beautiful), but a little nerve-wracking climbing up. Juan was incredibly kind about my slow pace and I never felt rushed or like I was holding him or my husband up. All along the entire tour of the historical site, Juan, our guide, was knowledgeable, very nice, answered any questions and made the tour exciting, showing us a few yet to be excavated ruins off the beaten path. We next went to swim in Cenotes, which personally were very neat but a little creepy for me. Turns out I do not like being in underground caves, but that is a personal preference. They were very neat to see and be in, but perhaps not for me.
Honestly, my favorite thing about both times we went with Adventure Mexico was the lunch afterwards. I LOVE authentic Mexican food. Living in Texas, it is all Tex-Mex, not a fan. The tacos and the little restaurant we went to were beyond delicious and the fresh Salsas, oh my. I want to go back ASAP, just to go to lunch. I can't say anything but positive things about this tour company. I truly can not wait to go back to Mexico again, so we may use there services. It is a wonderful experience to have when you are on vacation and looking for a tour. Thank you so much again Juan and the entire Absolute Adventure Team!

Such a wonderful day. Manuel brought it alive! Perfect mix of laughter and insights. The experience was unforgettable. Clair (the owner) was very responsive and helpful with booking, even with spotty Wi-Fi on my end. Couldn’t be happier with the whole experience.

We wanted mainly to see monkeys in their natural habitat and the guide (Jose) worked hard to get that for us. And we did! Howler monkeys!
This tour is full of experiences: the “family challenge” which is getting from one side of the lake to the other in a row boat, zip wire through the jungles, and an amazing deep (ish) Cenote all in the Mayan jungle (so cool and fragrant too) followed by an amazing local
lunch and then a visit to Coba. Take the tricycle drive round, it’s lots of fun!
Our driver Carlos and (very dry) guide Chris made our trip safe, fun and informative.
Wonderful and unforgettable. Many thanks.

JJ and Pasquale picked us up bright and early at 7AM for our day long adventure. Since it was so early, our hotel was not even serving coffee yet. As soon as we got in our (private) van, JJ asked if we would like to stop for coffee. I said, "YES, and could we go to Starbucks?" To which said, "of course." From that moment, I knew it would be a great day.
JJ knows his stuff and gives a lot of great detail about the Mayan ruins and the cenote, we visited. We had intended to visit Tulum, which was closed due to Covid. Claire suggested Coba and I am so glad we went.
The cenote was a lot of fun as well, for a dip in cool fresh water.
Finally, JJ took us to a great local restaurant (included in the package) for a delicious Mexican lunch.
We will be back for sure!

Wow, where to start. This tour was the best! We had Juan as our guide and Willie as our driver, both of them were phenomenal. We did the Coba and snorkeling tour and added on the excursion to akumal to see the turtles, they were super accommodating in creating a custom tour for us. Juan was HILARIOUS and awesome, we had super great chats and he tailored the historical info at the ruins to match our knowledge level and my interests in Mayan culture. We were the first to get in the ruins and we felt like we had the whole site to ourselves practically. Snorkeling in the cenotes was awesome as well, we had the whole cenote to ourselves at one point and it was magical. Lunch was fun, it felt like we were just hanging with our friend and chatting while eating. The trip to Akumal was amazing, seeing sea turtles in their habitats was just glorious. Honestly, this tour was the highlight of our time in Mexico and I'm so happy we booked and got to experience the tour with Juan! Highly, HIGHLY recommended!

We will be staying at the Unico 20 87 resort along La Carretera. What would be our estimated time of return? We are looking for a half day trip to Coba and a quick Cenote stop.
Thank you.

This company does that combo. They pick you up really early 6:30-7am done by 2-2:30pm. I think your hotel will be south of where we were so it maybe be a shorter period. It was a great time, they really consider timing to beat the crowds & heat.
