What to expect
Make your way to the Riu Yucatan Hotel to begin your tour. Prepare for your ocean dive with a scuba theory class and a shallow pool dive with a PADI-certified instructor. Spend just enough time getting acquainted with the equipment and feeling comfortable in the water.  Then, board a diving boat and head out on the Riviera Maya, known for its population of tropical fish, octopi, sea anemones, turtles, and more. Dive down to a maximum depth of 36 feet (12 meters), with an instructor on board the whole time. At the end of your dive, return to shore, enjoying the clear view of the coastline along the way.

The folks at Scuba Caribe are awesome!
Oct 2019
We recently returned from Playa del Carman and had a wonderful diving experience with Scuba Caribe. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Our dive instructor,Javier, was very knowledgeable. While diving he pointed out lots of sea life such as seahorses and moray eels that we might of otherwise missed. My son is new to diving and this experience has him talking about a return trip!

Wow wow wow
Wow!!!
Me and my partner had the discovery diving experience today with Loth, we enjoyed every minute. What a professional service from all staff involved. We felt at ease immediately around Loth and the team, information was extremely well presented and we instantly knew we were in safe hands. The practice in the pool really put us at ease as first time divers.
In the ocean everything was as Loth explained, but we did not expect the beauty that was beneath the waves. Seeing the turtles was the highlight for us both. A truly breathtaking, relaxing and all round amazing experience!, a must do if staying in playacar!!

Thank you Scuba Caribe

PADI scuba Dive
Wow! What can I say apart from I am never going to forget this experience.
Myself, husband and two children aged 16 & 12 years, fancied giving scuba diving a go after a few free trials in the hotel pool. All four of us signed up to a Scruba Caribe PADI course. We were just a bit nervous to say the least, especially diving for the first time with your own children; nail biting stuff.
We nervously approached the Caribe water sports office at the Rui Yucatan and was greet by Lot Miranda. We knew straight away we were in safe hands for the following reasons :

The site was well organised
High standard of training & teaching
Lot never once got frustrated or annoyed- even if he had to explained the same thing a few times
Excellent equipment
All staff were professional
Safety was paramount

So we successfully dived together as a family for 38 minutes. It was truly magical. We were also followed by a cameraman, who captured all our precious moments.
So with a 1:2 ratio we felt pretty safe down there.
The pictures were reasonably priced too.

So if like us you are sat round the pool slightly bored of the water aerobics & bingo - have a go & sign up, it will not disappoint.

Worst experience yet doing scuba diving
This is my 9 time doing discover scuba diving, I've been lucky enough to have done it in quite a few places around the world , this by far was the worst I put it down to the instructor as I've been out with quiet a few before I have a fair idea of what's good one should do. I took my girlfriend with me who had been once before in another country with me and loved it as the instructor was very helpful in guiding her around were as here she wasn't even helped at all while the scuba instructor just swam in front not giving a dam just wanting the thing done in me eyes, giving my partner a terrible experience I was having to try and help her myself even tho I'm not even qualified to I could clearly see she was struggling and needed help. Far to many people as well at the one time which didn't matter to the instructor because he wasn't interested. Myself and my girlfriend went snorkeling a few days before this had a far better experience and seen far more. The only reason I'm not giving this one star is the instructor that we had at the start was very good doing the skills so this is y I'm just hoping it hasn't put my girlfriend off doing it again because of one man's inability to do his job

Introduction to Scuba
Mar 2019 • Solo
Highly recommend the Discover Scuba Diving course which I did while staying at the Riu Tequila. The instructor called Lot was very good and was completely professional and patient throughout. The course consisted of a brief demo in the hotel pool then back next day for a one-hour theory session in the classroom in the morning followed by an introductory 45 minutes dive in the afternoon. It was an excellent first diving experience and felt completely safe and well supervised.

My wife and I also went on an afternoon snorkeling trip a few days later (we'd enjoyed this last time we were there so wanted to do the same trip). We were taken to Inah reef which is approximately 20 minutes by boat down the coast from Playacar and quite near Xcaret park. Had 45 minutes snorkeling here which was fantastic and it turned out to be much better than anywhere we'd snorkeled in Cozumel the previous week. Saw turtles, sting rays and lots of fish. The coral looks healthy and colourful.

wonderful experience, felt safe the whole time
Nov 2018 • Family
We did the pool try-out one day with Patricio and he hooked my 12 year old daughter (and me). She was so excited that we had to book the Discover to Scuba Dive (DSD) course. - Katy (a young dive instructor from France) did a wonderful job during the theory, the pool instruction, and the afternoon dive. Lotu (or Lot - not sure about he spelling), a dive instructor with 20 years of experience, accompanied my daughter and me as well as 4 other DSD divers. - He is very chill and pleasant but very much paying attention to all the important details. - Both of them were very supportive and encouraging especially when my 12-year old second-guessed her decision. We couldn't have felt safer and saw lots of fish, including a ray.
Rod who handled a lot of the paperwork/payment was a pleasure to work with.
I usually do not write any reviews (I had to sign up for TripAdvisor to write this one) but I cannot say enough good things about them.

Discovery dive riu tequilla
Enjoyed the diving experience at scuba caribe at the riu resorts. It was our first time to go diving. We starten in the pool with the very nice instructors Noemi and Gustavo and after that went diving at the perfect depth of 9m with instructor kathy(france) and Pedro (antwerpen)

They all were patient and calm and the experience is worth every penny/peso

Thank you @scubacaribemex at riu tequilla

Let down
I stayed in the Hotel Riu Palace Riviera Maya.
I booked scuba dive for the following morning.
Book with the sales guy at the pool.
I arrived down in the morning and the sales guy and equipment guy was there but no instructor turned up. I was left waiting 2 hours for an instructor. Completed instruction.
Then told come back after lunch as there was no morning dive set up.
When book I was told it was a morning dive an finished by lunch, with messed up evening plans with my new wife. On honeymoon.
The dive it's self went well and I really enjoyed it. But the days organization was terrible.

My wife and I book to swim with whale sharks.
We were picked up my wife informed the instructor that she cannot swim and never snorkeled before. Instructor put her at ease by promising that life jacket and he would take care of her and instruct her every step of the way.
Just before boats left the instructors swapped boats.
My wife informed the new instructor she cannot swim and never snorkeled before and he told her, you better learn fast. He spent he's time enjoying himself and was not bordered with the paying guests.
To make things worse I sat beside the boat engine and the carbon monoxide fumes were making everyone feel sick. And made me very sick, to the pint of getting sick over the side of the boat and going in and out of consciousness.
I spent a couple of hours getting sick and going unconscious. The instructor never paid any attention to me. My wife was very upset. Even the boat driver showed consern for me. I was unconscious until the boat stop at a beach to let the people swim. My wife moved me to the front of the boat away from the engines and within 20 minutes I started to recover. The other guest told the instructor to take me back to land for help. Long before we got back I was completely fine again. But the other guest that went back to set beside the engines started to feel sick from engine carbon monoxide.
We wrote a 3 page complaint and gave it to sales staff with our room number, email and contact details. We were told manager would be in touch.
After a week we heard nothing. The day we were to travel home I had give up, but my wife said no, you could have died I am going down. She went down and after they stringed her along and tried to fob us off, they gave us half our money back and two t shirts that would fit a 5 year old child.
They wanted to waste time until we were going home.
They wasted 3 days of my honeymoon, upset my wife and put my life danger.
The instructor we had was a disgrace.

A bit disappointed.
Mar 2018 • Family
I booked a discover dive for my son and I while staying at the Riu Tequila. My son has his Padi certification for open water dive and this was the first dive for me. We met with Emily in the morning. She was fantastic at going over everything with me and refreshing my son as he hadn't dived in over a year. I was a bit nervous but she made me feel comfortable and took her time with me.
In the afternoon with met with Katy. At this time we learned that we were going to be diving with 2 others who had to be tested for their PADI certification.
Katy was excellent at comforting me to get me to descend. She initially told me she was going to go down with me. But she deflated my BAC and I went down to the bottom of the ocean on my own, where i waited for everyone else to join me..
It was explained the dive would be for approximately 45 minutes.
The water was not very clear and there was not much more than a few school of fish to see.
We had to stop for 5-7 minutes while Katy tested the students cutting into the dive time.
Approximately 30 minutes into the dive one of the students left the group. After gathering for 2 minutes he could not be located. We ascended to the surface without making any stops to equalize for decompression.
The lost diver had surfaced on his own and the dive ended.
Given that we paid for a 45 minute dive it was a bit disappointing that the dive was used to test other students and was cut short by nearly 1/3 of the dive time.
When I later explained to Cecilio who sold us the dive package, he basically just said, "sorry to hear that and thanks for letting me know."
I know they have no control over the sea life that will be available at the time of the dive but when putting everything together my son and I were disappointed.
My advice for people, if you sign up for the discover dive insist that you are not grouped with people there to be tested for their certification.
