My 11 year old son and I met Alexia and Diana at the Occidental Xcaret. After a trial run with them we wanted to go further and get our certification. What an amazing experience. Karim was very patient with us and helped us learn so much. All the instructors were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. We were lucky enough to see a bull shark on our third dive. My son had a blast and won't stop talking about it. Anytime I'm in playa I will be diving with these folks again. Even if I never dive again, it was worth it. I was scared to even snorkel before this, don't be intimidated, you'll love it. Thanks team.

Not Safe- This is my first negative review that I have ever written. We vacationed in Oct and knew the weather wouldn’t be perfect. There was a hurricane that hit 50mi north a week prior. We had booked 3-2tank morning dives. Our first dive was not safe at all. The surge and silt was so bad that I couldn’t see more than a foot in front of me. Looking back I should have surfaced and called it- that was on me for not doing that. The dive was awful, it was hard to see my buddy evening staying very close with each other. The shop should have cancelled dives as it wasn’t safe at all. We tried another location that was worse than the first. When we descended and couldn’t see in front of us at all we went back to the boat and didn’t dive. We tried to cancel our 2nd 2tank dive and they would not refund our money saying it cleared up. Talking with others it was still horrible. The dive shop should have refunded/cancelled both days as it’s not safe when you can’t see your buddy or group. We dove the third day and while not ideal, it was safe. Staff were friendly but it wasn’t safe diving. I do not recommend them at all.

ProDive is one of the top companies in the district, covering Cancun all the way down to Tulum. Instructors are excited to share their passion of scuba diving with their customers. Sales and admin on the other hand are a whole different matter. After equalization issues and bad weather, we decided to rest for the couple days left of vacation that we had, and when we visited the dive shop for a refund, they became argumentative and combative. 30 minutes of argument later, and the worst Customer Service on the planet, they were adamant to no refund policy. BUYER BEEARE! We have dives across the planet and would never use this company again. ProDive international occidental Xcaret.

We have just came back from our vacation with a lot of positive emotions about our diving experience with Prodive PADI center. My son got a diver certification and I enjoyed a discover diving. The unforgettable diving was possible due to an amazing PADI team at The Royal Hideaway in playacar,especially due to Jonah and Vero our diver masters who showed us all the skills we need for successful and joyable diving. The are highly professional divers and the biggest enthusiasts of their business. Special thanks to Alex who gave a lot of practical advice and suggestions. Thank you for the beautiful time we spent during our trip to Cozumel.

My review is broken down into (1) initial contact/booking online (2) payment (3) customer service prior to arrival (4) the diving experience. Overall if we hadn’t had the significant problems with 1-3 then based on 4 alone we’d have rated 4* but as it is the grading is a 2*. (1) Pro Dive have a good website with plenty of information. Don’t be fooled into thinking their live team who you can chat/email will do you anything better than rates offered on their site. I initially emailed a few months before our trip, was quoted for sixteen scuba tanks - effectively eight dives for my wife and myself. There was an intention to book more once we had used these up as well as a trip to Cozumel and some cenotes. I received a payment invoice and this is where things started to go wrong. (2) Their credit card processing is done via a company who insisted on converting the USD into my local GBP currency at a very poor exchange rate. I asked to pay in USD but was told Pro Dive were calling the shots on that but they denied all knowledge. The monetary value was about $40 worse - more of a principle I guess but why issue me an invoice in USD if you want payment in GBP? Although I paid promptly it took over a week for the funds to get ti Pro Dive. (3) To make matters worse a few days after we had paid/before our trip we were told that both engines on the dive boat were faulty and we would need to get to their other dive centre about forty minutes drive (each way) away. The cost for this was ours to sort out! No apology, no initial offer of a refund but instead a short and poorly positioned email saying there was nothing else that could be done. Very much “our boat problem is your time/financial problem”. We came very close to cancelling at this point but faced with navigating the payment company again we resigned ourselves to spending hours in a taxi and $$ on taxi journeys. Then the day before our trip we had another email saying the boat was fixed! What sort of customer service proposition is Pro Dive offering? This should have been a relaxing vacation and instead it was hassle and concern that with better communication could have been reduced. As it is we booked a bunch of additional dives with another centre in Puerto Morelos where the experience couldn’t have been more different. Friendly/helpful/accommodating with payment at the end of our trip! (4) All of the dives done with Pro Dive were using a twin engined skiff with room for probably twelve divers and tanks. You need to wade out and then climb on board which was OK but you would struggle if you have weak upper body strength. We did four dive sites so although others were available there was a degree of repetition which wasn’t ideal. The dive team are well organised albeit if you are diving EANx free if you are qualified) then bring your own analyser as we had two occasions where you couldn’t test the gas you would be consuming. **OVERALL** Would we book Pro Dive in any country/town/resort again - no. Their customer service prior to arrival is that of a large business with no real idea of how to meet the needs of divers who should be easy to look after and then upsell more trips. Instead they operate a “tough luck” attitude which leaves you feeling like their problems are yours to try and fix. The dive team were safe (two EANx tank analysis opportunities missed aside) and helpful enough. The repeated dive sites when others are available wasn’t great albeit all dives were 50+ minutes so no short changing there. If you intend to use Pro Dive then I’d suggest bypassing their online team and booking face to face so you can see what you are getting for your money. This will also remove their payment company from the process who were terrible!

This was a return visit to Pro Dive in Playa and although all the staff had changed since 2022, it was still an excellent experience. Many thanks to Sol, Esteban, Hannah, Alex, Esme, Oliver, Rene, Carlos and all the boat crew for looking after me and my bad back so well; not to mention making my birthday very special!!

Excellent dive shops are hard to come by. Not in Playa del Carmen. ProDive International is the must-go-to centre in the area. Not only are the folk there excellent guides with whom you feel totally safe diving with but they are a super bunch of people with whom you can have some good fun whilst you do it. Highlight of my visit was the cenote dives; spookily brilliant! Thanks to all at ProDive 👍🤿

Fantastic dive shop, highly recommend Pro Dive. This is my second time with them. I’m an experienced diver, 450+ dives but was a bit rusty as I hadn’t really dived over the last 2 years. All the staff were so helpful, and they planned the dives around my experience. Really enjoyed the 10 dives I did with the guys here, and had so much fun!

I just complete my open water dive course with Esteban here in Cancun and what an experience! A brilliant instructor who showed me some incredible dives in the area whilst training. Highly recommend for anyone looking to get their certification

Absolutely fantastic dive centre. Perfect communication before arriving to Mexico. Spot on pick up times. In the past I experienced some "skip" of the safety procedures in tropical destinations. Not here. Proper briefing, proper buddy check . Safe, friendly and just amazing. Strongly recommended.

An absolute amazing time with Esteban, Marlon and the rest of the team. The friendly, calm and reassuring atmosphere was perfect to learn in and gain the skills required for the ocean. They looked after our 12 year old son like he was one of their own. They were kind and patient with him. Diving in the ocean you couldn’t have had a better team to be with. Tommy the photographer is also a massive plus added to the team. Friendly, fun and managed to capture amazing moments for us to take home for us to keep on the start of our diving journey. Can’t recommend this place highly enough!!!

Do learn to dive at Padi Pro Dive Mexico at Royal Hideaway Hotel, Playa de Carmen. The staff are very professional namely Sol and others there. This is an extremely professional run dive site and I felt very safe letting my 16 year old son learn to dive here. My son was taught to dive by Boris Brinker and I did my refresher Padi with Boris also. My son Alexander really enjoyed the Padi course with Boris. His brother is jealous so we must come back so he can do the Padi course also at Royal Hideaway. After my son passed the Padi course we went diving together in Cozumel. Fabulous clear diving. Large fish and saw stingrays. We really enjoyed our time together and we will be back.

My wife and I had the absolute pleasure of being able to gain a few Padi certified diver certifications while staying at The Royal Hideaway in playacar. First off the boss lady, Sol, is an absolutely outstanding, friendly, personable, knowledgeable, professional who runs a great establishment. Her over 30+ years of diving experience is emulated in her teachings and through her actions throughout the diving excursions. We expierenced an unexpected setback while in the heart of the class to which she had no problems adapting and ensuring my wife's success. My instructor "Coté", Maria-Jose, was superior in her own way. With multiple dives around the globe in multiple countries her knowledge and skills were both shared and taught in helping me understand multiple facets of diving throughout my OW, EANx, and AOW certifications. From dives in the Centoes, to Cozumel and back to Playa del Carmen each one was a unique and extremely fun adventure. Everyone from the dive shop staff, Mr. Santiago or "Santi" with his expertise is all things dive equipment, to the rest of the divemasters and Staff we throughoughly enjoyed and recommend this Padi 5☆ location! We'll definitely dive with them again in the coming year! Cheers

I did 8 dives with prodive from the base in Playacar, they were highly professional and the equipment and boats were great and never overcrowded. Special thanks to Olaatz who looked after me throughout, she is a great asset and excellent diver. Also thanks to Carlos for the two dives in the Chikin Ha cenotes, he was also very professional and it was an amazing experience not to be missed
