    Delicious food tour!
Food tour was excellent. Panda was our guide and took us on a food tour where the locals go. We ate so much food I wish I had another stomach because the food was so good. Panda was very friendly and knowledgeable, making sure he answered all of our questions. Communication was excellent with directions and everything

Great day in Playa Del Carmen
Ivan, our tour guide, was very friendly and knowlegable. I always enjoy exploring new places and trying new foods, so this was right up my alley. We went with the lunch time tour and the only thing we did wrong was eat too much for breakfast. We were pretty full at the end but still had to do the tequila tasting.

This tour was easily one of the highlights of our trip!
This Food Hoppers tour allowed us to experience all the local food, beverages, and history of the city. Our guide, Ivan, took us away from the tourist area to bring us to a variety of authentic little places. Everything was delicious, and we had a great time! Would do it again!

Enjoyed trying a few local bites but expensive for what it is
A group of five of us took a street food tour with David and were joined by another couple. Pros: - 80% of the tour is off the crowded touristy part of 5th, you really get to experience local flavor and businesses. - We tried 2 tacos (1 from a stand, 1 from sit-down restaurant), aqua fresca, 2 different types of tamales, 2 marquesitas, ice cream, and tequila samples. - We caught a glimpse of the daily show where performers swing from a pole, which was a nice surprise. - Our guide David was very friendly, pleasant, and answered our questions. - We felt safe walking around the streets (even though a drunk local guy joined our group for a few moments) - The food was delicious! Cons: - I messaged the company via What'sApp to confirm the exact meeting location and they never responded. - The printed meeting location is not an address, it says, "Tell your taxi driver to drop you off at the bus station downtown" which is very vague, especially since there are two different bus stations in downtown PDC. We picked the "ADO BUS STATION" and spent a few minutes aimlessly wandering the chaotic area out front looking for the guide as there is no sign or anything to indicate a specific spot to go to. Luckily, we found the guide in and another couple in the crowd. - While it was great to experience all the local restaurants and street vendors, we were disappointed that the tour ended with a taxi ride to the busiest part of 5th avenue where we stopped at an ice cream stand and then went into one of those giant tequila/tourist souvenir shops for a "tequila presentation and tasting". - Each person ate no more than $10 in food, but the tour cost $60 a person. Recommendations to the company: - Tell people the EXACT meeting point, where to meet at the ADO bus station. - Finish the tour with real Mexican ice cream and tequila, then take a taxi back to the tourist area. - Lower the price to $40 or $50 a person. $60 is way too expensive for this kind of tour.

Perfect way to have a taco lunch.
I have to start with I love tacos. At home I have tacos a minimum of once a week. No Taco Bell, no cheap crunchy grocery store shells, just real ,simple, delicious taco truck tacos. My love has been elevated. Our guide David had trouble parking so he was a little late. He more than made up for it with his knowledge. We started at a little aqua Fresca stand. I’ve had horchata before but this was another level. We got to try several flavors. Very refreshing with the cucumber mint (I think that’s what was in) being my favorite. We then walked about a block to a little cart with some of the best corn tortillas I’ve ever had. David pointed out he loved this spot for how fresh the tortillas were. The were delicious. Two steps away and we tried Cochinita pibil. A very good pulled pork. Made a great taco. Each stop David would give us a little food history and why he likes each stop. The barbacoa was quite possibly the best taco I’ve ever had. We ended with some ice cream and a tequila tasting. The tequila was good but a little over priced for me. Over all, David gets a huge thank you and solid recommendation. We ended stuffed and ate tacos and empanadas we would have never found on our own.

Walking food and tequila tasting in Playa del Carmen
We signed up thru Viator and Foodhoppers was the company we met with. The instructions for meeting up were easy to follow and the price we thought was fair. We chose the three-hour walking tour in PDC and my wife, daughter and I had a wonderful time with our guide Ivan. We tasted several off the beaten path food spots including street carts, cute small restaurants and other venues (including the tequila museum on 5th Avenue to end the night) and it was an experience we would highly recommend.

Great way to launch your Playa del Carmen visit.
We use food tours (around the world) to help us get to know the culture, food and find new places to eat (non-touristy) while visiting a new city/country. We enjoyed our (primarily) street food experience with David. Though we had a few hiccups finding our guide at the beginning, Sina took my call and all was well. This is a great way to start your visit to Playa del Carmen!

The food spots that we went to with David was great. He took us to the areas where the real locals go instead of the tourist to experience authentic tic Mexican flavor. He was knowledgeable and accommodating great tour.

    Local food tour with David
We had the best time eating at all of David’s favorite local options. Mostly street vendors and we loved them all. We got to taste real and rare ethnic cuisine around the city. The walking was minor even though I suffer from RA. It was nothing to worry about. David was a friendly and knowledgeable guide with lots of tips and advise about the area. He knew a lot about the food, the people and the history. We couldn’t have been happier with the tour we booked and the experience we had!!

    Amazing food!
This was our first time to Mexico and we wanted to try authentic food in Playa del Carmen. Our food tour guide was David. He was very friendly, out-going and knowledgeable about the food and the area. To be honest, we were a bit nervous about eating and drinking from the street vendors but David was very good about taking us to the best vendors. Each place that we tried was delicious but we enjoyed the Conchinita Pibil the most. The website for the food tour mentioned that you try grasshoppers but thankfully that wasn't part of our tour. Overall, David was amazing and the food was incredible. I definitely recommend David from Food Hoppers Tours. Safe for families!

    Food Tour
This is a MUST DO food tour when you are in Playa del Carmen. The guide (David) took us to authentic and quiet places to get real taco's, fruit drinks, ice cream, which was delicious. At the end a tequila tasting. He was friendly, thoughtful and told us about interesting food culture of Mexico.

    Delicioso!
David walked us around to places where all the local people eat. First time I tried Conchinita Pibil and was the best! My niece and nephew hated fish overall until they tried Tacos Pescado, and now they really like it. As for Tacos Carnitas, it surely goes well with that bottle of Coca Cola (even better with Corona, which I should have tried). Overall, great food tour guide and highly recommended. Muchas gracias amigo!

It was great to go off the beaten track and visit various food places around town, seeing a bit more of Playa del Carmen than just la Quinta and the beach. The guides were very friendly and spoke excellent English.
The juice tasting and drinking was our favourite. The food itself (other than the first birra) was actually a bit disappointing. Why? All of it (other than the corn stand and the churros at the end) could be described as: meat, melted cheese, grease. Also, other than at the juice bar and the birra-place there was hardly any explanation regarding the origins/background etc of the food.
Personally I found there also to be too much food, but I can imagine for many people this would be considered a plus and good value for money!
Also, we were promised an e-mailed link to photos of our tour. What we received was a non-functioning link to the company's facebook page. I could not find the photos of our tour on that page.

My wife and I did the nighttime walking tour with Ivan and it was amazing! Best food in Playa, hands down (and we ate at lots of places). Be prepared -- this tour is not for the light eater. We put down over 8 tacos each, a Mexican hotdog, some Mayan/Yucatan food... and that was all before dessert. Couldn't recommend this enough!

This tour was one of the highlights of our vacation in Playa del Carmen. We almost didn't go, because of the rain - but we were so glad we went. All of the tacos were delicious and were the "real deal" - not anything like they serve you in your hotel. Each spot that was pre-chosen by our tour guide and the food was all different. P.S. go on an empty stomach!!!!! Our tour guide Ivan was extremely knowledgeable and fun!!! Thank you Ivan, for making our last night so memorable!!!

The food on this tour was wonderful. Ulysses was a great host and he talked to us about the history, region and process for making all of the food we tried. He also told us about Playa del Carmen and we walker through many different areas of the town. I would recommend saving room for the dessert because it was amazing!

My miyhet and I were the only ones on the tour, and it could not have been better. Our guide was excellent. We learn so much about the different foods. He picked out the best selections. The only thing i would change is if they would offer drinks throughout the trip. Not just at the first stop. After eating some hot salsa and walking a lot, we were very thirsty

We had a fantastic experience on the Mexican Street Food Crawl in Playa del Carmen! There were just two of us so it really was a private tour. We went to 5 different places. The food was excellent, and the amount of food was more than we could finish. Our guide, Tony (Panda), was really fun, agreeable and accommodating. We would recommend this tour to everyone.
