Local community and natural resources tours for sustainability
My group had a very memorable and amazing experience in Yucatan with the Co'ox Mayab (thumbs up to Abraham, our passionate and very kind guide!!). During my group stays in Yucatan (especially Merida), the Co'ox Mayab helped and provided comprehensive information and location for our study (ehm vacation). From mangrove tours, cenote tours, and local heritage tours - they made sure we got the knowledge and the fun that we needed (important: always providing us with some ice water during the hot weather). Not only did they give us choices of the places we wanted to go, but they also helped translate almost all of our conversations with the local community (one thing we appreciate the most since no one in our group speaks Spanish or Mayan). Overall, we appreciate everything that Co'ox Mayab has done. We had a very wonderful experience during our study trip and had a great time learning about the Yucatan livelihood through its amazing community

          Memorable experience
I had a memorable experience with Co’ox Mayab. From visiting the community in Ek Balham and learning about their milpa production, to spending a day at Carey Centro Ecoturistico in Isla Arena with their birdwatching, fishing, and mangroves tours activities, I got to see the different facets and landscape of the Yucatàn Peninsula. Alejandro knowledge goes beyond expectations: he is not only a guide, but a university professor, student, and local. If you want to see the authentic Yucatàn, Co’ox Mayab is a no-brainer.

          Unresponsive and mediocre tour company
Unfortunately, my client's experience with Coox Mayab Tours in Merida was extremely disappointing. We booked the tours for December 28, 29 and 30 after planning it meticulously since April or May, and the reality did not meet their expectations at all. The tour in Mérida, which was promoted as a multi-hour experience, was limited to a quick visit to the main square, lasting only one hour. Despite having a competent guide he was hurt and had restricted mobility. The activity did not offer the richness and depth they advertise. The tour in Izamal was even worse. The guide drove at dangerous speeds, causing concern among the participants. Additionally, the vehicle used showed poor quality which negatively affected our overall experience. Customer safety and comfort should be a priority, and clearly, Coox Mayab failed in this regard. Lack of proper communication was also a significant problem. Even though we planned our tours months in advance, any interaction with the agency took at least two weeks to receive a response. Failure to respond promptly shows a lack of professionalism and commitment to customer satisfaction. The agency's response to our concerns was not satisfactory. We feel neglected and disappointed with the lack of professionalism in addressing these issues. The only positive thing was the knowledge of they guide they hired for the visit of Chichen Itza.

Well worth it. A terrific trip.
This was a full day of interesting experiences. Ek Balam is probably my favorite Mayan ruin , as it is beautiful and not crowded. You can feel as if you are exploring the ruins by yourself. We loved being guided by Manual At Tuz through his village of Ek Balam and trying different crafts. The tortillas we made were pretty good and hot off the grill. Our main guide, Eyder Pacab, did such a good job. It turned out that there were only 2 of us on this tour. He explained a lot of things in excellent English and took good care of us throughout the tour. There was a lot of driving involved, so a short nap in the car was a good thing. I have been coming to Merida for several years, and this was a chance to spend time in a Mayan village. I always enjoy cooling off in a Cenote. This one even offered several extra possibilities, like zip line, repelling, etc. As usual there were steep stairs with handrails. Water was a perfect temperature. Highly recommend the tour.

          Great Day!
My fiancé and I had a great time on this tour. Our tour guide was on time and helped us translate to English when needed. First we had a yummy traditional breakfast and then we headed to learn about the bees. We learned so many interesting facts and loved tasting the variety of honey. Seeing the mangroves added variety to the tour before having a local lunch (their coconut shrimp was delish!) We didn’t spend too much time at the beach as it was hot and we didn’t have umbrellas but it was nice to cool off in the water. Overall we had a great day and would recommend this tour.

          wonderful tours!
We took two Co'ox Mayab tours and they were both great. Each tour segment is very well thought out, so that it's like taking several tours in one day. We did the Maya of Today/Yesterday and the Flavours of Honey and Coconut. When your tour includes eating grapefruit and oranges that were just picked from the tree, or special stops for coconut candies, you know it's good! The beach segment of the Honey/Coconut tour didn't work out because of the smelly seaweed, but our tour guide Jan made up for it with a beautiful drive home along the coast, complete with spectacular sunset. The important thing about these tours is that they are connected with the communities you visit, so that benefits go back to the communities. But aside from that, they're just fun and we hope to do more next time we're in Merida. Highlights of both tours were the bee experiences, and the small-scale nature of the activities (especially the guayabera workshop) was fascinating. Highly recommended!

          Incredible experience!
Our visit to Tekit with Co’ox Mayab was fabulous! Our guide Jan and everyone we interacted with in town were very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about local history, culture and the environment. Everything ran very smoothly day of and in setting up the tour; Gloria in the main office was extremely responsive as we were making arrangements. We loved every part of the day and found it to be the perfect combination of activities!! The farm was absolutely beautiful, and our visit to the solar Maya at Ana's house was fascinating -- the beekeeping and honey tasting was a real highlight for us, and Ana, Manuel and Luis' passion was infectious! The guayabera workshop was also very interesting and gave us new appreciation for this tradition. Our visit to Mayapan was short but beautiful during sunset and to top it all off, we saw an incredibly colorful motmot bird. All in all one of the best day tours I’ve ever taken - highly recommended!

          Sabor Miel y coco
We did an amazing day tour, Sabor miel y coco. We spent the day in a small group. The guys at Co'ox mayab are warm friendly and speak great english. The highlight was definitely the mangrove cenote and the coconut sweets! We also saw flamingos and the guys brought binoculars which was great.

I cannot day enough about this amazing experience! Ismael was such a great guide. He was courteous and kind and accommodating. He took care of everything and made sure we enjoyed all of our experiences to the fullest.
Now the excursion itself...humbling is probably the word I would use the most. Chichen and it’s history as massive story was our start. Next...we had a personal cooking class with the most amazing women at the Yok Co-Op. They were patient and funny and so very informative. They take great pride in traditional Mayan cooking and we were in awe of the freshness and flavors that come from such traditional methods. These women are collectively doing so much for the town and community and the pride in their work and efforts is just incredible. The Cenote was a great finish to our day. Refreshing and beautiful and calm. We wanted one away from the main tourist type places and one that was easy to get in and out of and Yok was just ideal and perfect.
This excursion is a journey and a lesson rich in Mayan history and we are so deeply grateful for a perfect day.
