The trip started with some delay ( 30 minutes ) from the previously communicated time. The pick up service at the hotel was done by a clever guy, but accommodating us on a old and quite stinky uncomfortable private car.
Nevertheless we were brought at the cenote, where we stayed for 1,5 hours.
Later we went to a beach restaurant where the driver told us to let him know the pick up time for returning at the hotel at least 20-30 minutes in advance.
at 2.30 pm we alerted the restaurant reception that we will be ready in a hour at 3:30.
at this time the receptionist told us that the driver was coming in 5 to 10 minutes, but 5 minutes later he informed us that probably the waiting time could last 30 to 60 minutes.
in front of this uncertainty, and also because of other commitments, I opted out for a Uber driver and returned to the hotel.
in the evening I was contacted by the tour operator , who apologized fro the happening and promised to send me back the money I paid for the Uber fare: apparently a nice way to excuse themselves, which i gladly accepted although it was only for 10 USD.
however, as per today, no back payment received, confirming the lack of trust we already perceived.

Iguana Maya excursions. Waited on the curb 10 minutes, then put on a shuttle to wait longer at their office(?). After at least 30 minutes in this office, we were put on a shuttle to our excursion which was to visit a natural cenote reserve with swimming. During the trip, we were advised that no sunscreen was allowed off the shuttle because of the raccoon population. Once we arrived at the cenote reserve, we were rushed to put on sunscreen only to go down by the river to wait another 10 minutes to get on a small boat to cross to where the cenotes were. This trip was about 3 minutes long. When the boat arrived at the destination, the guy driving the boat started shaking a container of what looked like dog kibble which was for the raccoons who came up to the boat begging. We all got out and were taken to 3 very small cenotes. Only 2 were large enough to really "swim" in. The other was about as big as a plastic kiddie pool where you could put your feet in and the fish would eat the dead skin off your feet. The water was super clear with the temperature like bathwater. My granddaughter enjoyed it. The other two cenotes were just mediocre sized pools of fresh water. Nothing impressive. Not what we were expecting at all. After maybe an hour there, we left and were taken to the beach. It was just ok. I feel it was not worth the price we paid. Probably could have just taken a taxi to the beach for much cheaper. Disappointing.
