About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Maps5588870 contributionsWonderful island with fantastic tour guidesElsy and Jesus were fantastic hosts in a country that was previously unknown to us. We felt very comfortable from the start and let them both let us in on the secrets of Cozumel. The tour, in which we learned a lot about the island, the people, the history and of course about tequila, was excellently organized and always exciting. The recommendations for the photo stops and especially the lunch break were sensational. In the few hours we were on Cozumel, we felt like we were able to immerse ourselves in life on this great island. Elsy and Jesus made this tour an unforgettable experience for us. Auf geht‘s!Written March 9, 2025

- joni w0 contributionsRuins & Beach! Our guide was Felipe and he was great. He was on time and friendly. We started at the port and headed to the Zona Arqueológica San Gervasio Parador Turístico San Gervasio Mayan ruins for a short 1 hour self- guided tour and bought a few souvenirs in the shop. Next Felipe drove us to the east side and we followed the coast line and stopped at a nice beach spot that was a perfect place to take few photos and grab a beer. Our final stop was a small beach club that was absolutely perfect with great food, (shrimp tacos), margaritas also a nice sandy beach entrance perfect for swimming, and lounge chairs in the shade under the palm trees. Felipe got us back to the ship on time and we really his stories about the island and its history and would definitely 10/10 recommend this tour. Perfect day!Written March 3, 2025
- Relax039615692730 contributionsDon't MISS the magical Bee Sancutary!Amazing! Such a wonderful experience. Our guide was fantastic and it really felt like we were contributing to the local economy. Mrs. Martha started her sanctuary before she began doing tours, unlike other locations that simply started as a way to attract tourists. Trust us, come for the honey but stay for the handmade tamales and incredibly warmth and generosity fo the staff.Written March 2, 2025
- Barry H0 contributionsWonderful tour of the entire island of Cozumel with Enrique as our guide, driver and historian.Enrique was very knowledgeable of Cozumel, Aztec and Mayan history, which he generously shared with us. We also visited all the excellent beach areas on the east side of the island, and he also took us on the Carretera Costera Sur for a great view of the swim spots, as well as resorts, dotting the seashore along this winding road. Excellent guide!Written February 27, 2025
- tammycW5608PZ0 contributionsDo not hesitate to use this company! 10 Stars! My husband and I were looking for a private tour guide for Cozumel. Philippe was the best tour guide ever. He and his family are native to Mexico. His mother being a native Mayan! He had so much knowledge of the island. We asked to go outside of the tourist areas so we could actually dive into the culture. He took us to a wonderful little roadside stand where we got the freshest agua's frescas anywhere in the world! He took us to a bee keepers stand where they specialize in medicinal honey. We got to learn about the bees native to the area and the different types of honey that they produced. He took us to the San gravasio ruins and his favorite restaurant on the other side of the island where they have fresh fish, fresh tacos, fajitas, mixed drinks and beer and some of the best guacamole on the island. He was a lot of fun and very informative. A very good driver. It was a nice day so he allowed us to roll the windows down and fill the fresh breeze off the water. We will definitely use this company again. And we will definitely be asking for Philippe to guide us on our next excursion. T&D Tampa, FlWritten February 25, 2025

- CKnight680 contributionsWe always use this companyWhenever we are in Cozumel, we always use this company, and we have never been disappointed. Last time we arrived in a thunderstorm and practically had to wade through the streets to our meeting place, but we pretty much had our run of the island after the storm because everyone else stayed on the boats. This time, however, we were lucky to have a beautiful day. We do our homework and usually have a general itinerary in mind. Our guide suggested a bee sanctuary on the way the east side of the island. Go to the "Bee Friendly Cozumel Conservation Park" just down the road from the tourist trap "Mayan Bee Sanctuary." The smaller place is actually run by a local lady. It's a smaller operation, and pretty interesting. You'll get to taste the various honeys, get historical information, and see some active hives. There is a small souvenir shop at the end where you can buy different types of honey. Next we went down to Playa San Martin along the coast. We came used to eat at the restaurant across the street; however, it was recently demolished in a hurricane and all that remains is the skeleton. Fortunately, an enterprising person has set up a restaurant adjacent to the former building, and the food is wonderful !! We had a very large platter of chicken and steak tacos, guac and chips, beans, etc. for about $95 that fed our family of four, plus our driver, and extra to go home for the driver's dog. Very good. We made a stop further down at the blow holes, which is always fun, and then it was back to the port as the day was getting late. We had time to wander around outside the port for awhile to do some shopping.Written January 31, 2025

We had a great experience. Our guide was Enrique, he was great. Asked us what we wanted to see and do and made sure we were happy with the locations and activities. The Mayan ruins were a must see and did not disappoint. At his suggestion we went later in the day to avoid larger crowds. He took us to a great "local" restaurant as our last stop and we had some unbelievable authentic soft tacos - many different types, all equally delicious! We highly recommend taking a Private VIP Tour with Visit Cozumel Transfers and Tours!

Great Experience! We've been to Cozumel in prior years but this year we decided to hire a tour guide and Mario was exceptional, courteous, knowledgeable and humourous. We toured the island in a very nice Jeep Renegade equipped with AC and refreshments. Mario knows the best spot for local food straight off the grill and for the right price enough to feed a whole group. I definitely will recommend his services to anyone who visits Cozumel that wants to better understand the island's history and landmarks! Will book again in the future!

Elsy and Consuelo became a part of our family! They made sure we visited the places on our wish list and recommended other places that we loved. Our group had 11 with ages from 50s to 1 year old, and we all had enough room in the van and we all had a good time. Elsy is very knowledgeable and friendly, and we learned a lot about the island along with having fun! I would definitely recommend this tour because it's just your group and you create the itinerary! This is worth more than 5 stars!!

We had a wonderful time with Rick & Jesus for our island tour. They were very accommodating for our group of 5 older ladies, making sure we were comfortable and helping us in and out of the van. We did choose to go on a "tour of Mexico's flavors" which was easy to navigate and informational, but did cost a few dollars to enter and more to provide tips to several staff. The van headed to the east coast as we were looking forward to seeing the ocean on that side of the island. Due to the scarcity of restaurants in the area we stopped for lunch. This restaurant may have been the only one to accept credit cards on the east side. Our drinks were not very good, our food was ho-hum and we were pestered by vendors every few minutes. Our guide then asked what we'd like our remaining time to include and all of us wanted to see more and not be asked to spend more money. Made several "photo" stops and enjoyed the scenery. We made our way back to one of the Cozumel signs in town and had photos there. Was a great day!

We did this instead of an excursion through our cruise ship, and were so glad we did!
Elsy, our guide, and Manuel, our driver were great! Elsy was very informative and accommodating. We wanted to see the Mayan Cacao Company and the San Gervasio Ruins. We didn’t have enough reservations for either, but she called ahead and got us reservations at Mayan Cacao Company, and then she turned out to be an official tour of San Gervasio so we were able to pay her extra to be our private tour guide there. Then, she recommended a lovely place for lunch that was a place frequented by locals.
Manuel had the van stocked with water and we felt very safe with him driving.

Our family had such an amazing time on this tour of the island. There were so many stops that we choose along the way to take some great photos, eat, and learn about the history of the island. Our tour guide Elsy did a great job at explaining interesting fun facts and the history of Cozumel, she was very knowledgeable and a lot of fun! Our driver Mr. Chuy was also very attentive to our group. We highly recommend this tour because you choose the stops and how much time at each stop without ever being rush.

Based on our experience, this tour is really only worth it if you have a large group (maybe 8+) and maybe just want an island driving tour. There were 5 of us and we ended up doing 3 stops, all which cost quite a bit extra; and there really wasn’t much to see on the drive for the guide to talk about. We did a chocolate factory tour ($70+), spent time at a beach ($100), and did the Mayan bee tour ($45) as well. All worth it but none included in this tour. The most disappointing was to pay $100 to ‘go to the beach’. When we asked if any options for a free beach, the guide informed us that the free beaches really aren’t maintained so wouldn’t be a very good option. The beach we went to was ok and had drinks and food available for purchase (but we weren’t looking for that) and also shops, but that is not why we were going there. I think the tour operator should make it more clear that if you want to do anything other than drive around, you will have to pay for it, including going to a beach. For us, this was very overpriced transportation that we wouldn’t have booked knowing this beforehand.

Visit Cozumel Shuttles and Tours created a beautiful day for us on a last minute online reservation as our ship was pulling into Cozumel on a seven ship day! Mario was an online star on their website chat function to find a way to meet every need. Communication was clear and helpful at every step.
The only difficulty of the day was not their fault. We had a crazy time trying to get through the retail rats maze onshore at the International Pier. Once we extracted ourselves and got to our appointed meet up in front of the Hard Rock, we met smiling Anna. She confirmed with Mario and Jesus quickly arrived in a comfortable taxi/van. We went through our hopes and desires for the day…mostly centered around avoiding the other 20,000 visitors to the island today. They came up with a perfect plan for us. Very quickly it felt like we were touring with young friends eager to show us their home island. They took us to local places that they loved…an amazing ice cream shop, a simple produce market that became a classroom on local cooking, a wonderful surprise tour of a bee sanctuary (another great Mario was our guide there). We viewed the beauty of the eastern shoreline, talked trees and flowers and bird life, took a long easy time on the beach talking family and life in our respective worlds and picking up shells. No tequila required.
We passed up all the popular tourist haunts for lunch and visited a small family restaurant in town that was one of Jesus’ favorites. The owners and their customers treated us like family there and we ate all we could eat for under 15usd…from soup to flan, it was family dinner.
We saw the beauty and flavor of this island away from the ports and crowds. Our guides were kind, patient with our unusual nerdy requests and unguarded about how much they loved their hometown. Brilliant teamwork from this company and these kids.
Perfect day created just for us…and did we mention at a very reasonable price?

We were 2 families of four people and Jesus was our driver/guide and he was fantastic. He was very nice, honest, knowledgeable, he fulfilled every request we had + he brought us to hidden gems on the island and stopped at place he believed we would like, bottom line he did not disappoint. I highly recommend Cozumel: Private VIP Excusion and especially Jesus as a your guide! Thank you Jesus for the memories you help create for my family, I will forever be grateful. I hope to see you again one day! Gracias! Amigos de por vida! I will say hi to your friend Perry in Ottawa!

April 2023:
We planned our visit some months ago, yet bad weather altered our cruise and arrived two days earlier, the operator quickly adapted and accommodated our changes, thank you.
The pick up place is very easy to find and just a few minutes from the port.
On the day our tour guide Alizon and Sevier were great, found us a tequila tasting tour for $5 which was great value and took us to the far side of the island and a beach club organising a covered seating area for lunch.
Only recommendation from us is an option for a longer days tour to maximise the beach club rather than getting to the port too early, perhaps ask for this option when booking.

I would like to discuss with someone regarding setting up a tour for us and what we could do for 7 passengers (3 kids 12-7) adults (41,44,52,74)
Written January 24, 2023
Dear AshleydL6381NN,
This is a great tour option for 7 passengers, just make sure that you select the VAN OPTION for up to 12 Adults. This is also a great option for families, teens and kids. Although the tour takes almost the whole day, you will still have time after the tour to walk or do some shopping, in case it is a shore excursion from a cruise ship. You will make a loop around the island and the only thing you need to establish your itinerary with the guide/driver before you go on your tour or at least at the meeting time. You can adjust the itinerary and it depends on how much time you want to spend at a beach. If not, you will have more time to do all the recommended stops. Let me know if you have any questions regarding specific stops on the tour operator's suggested itinerary.

We are traveling to Cozumel on the Oceana Insignia, arriving in Cozumel on November 21, 2019. We are 6 adults and are interested in taking a tour that would involve snorkeling/ seeing animals/birds or taking an easy hike/walk. We like doing things that are more active, rather than just seeing churches or ruins. Can you suggest an itinerary and the cost that might work for us?
