Itinerary
- 1Let's start with an enjoyable 45-minute ferry ride to Playa del Carmen from Cozumel, we then take our air conditioned minivan to the awe-inspiring cave area. Your guide will entertain you with fun and educational tales about the area and this stunning natural wonder of the world. When you head into the centre of the jungle, you will be amazed at the amazing structures that formed over 65 million years. We recommend this tour for anyone who loves an adrenaline rush or people who love nature and a scenic tour. We wonder through these incredible caves on a walking tour whilst learning all about the stalagmites and stalactites that have formed over the long periods of time. You can then jump into the fresh crystalline water and swim through the chambers connected by long, incredibly beautiful, low ceiling caves. This is a true work of art courtesy of Mother Nature and was considered by the ancient Mayan civilization as a sacred place used by priests and warriors for important rituals. After your memorable tour, we head back with a tasty light snack whilst traveling back to Playa del Carmen, then you will catch the ferry for the return ride to Cozumel. If you love exploring destinations that are off the beaten track, then our excursion is perfect. Book today to take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity. Please Note: Water shoes, wetsuit, helmets, lights and life jackets are provided on this tour although do not forget to wear your swimsuit underneath your clothes. This tour is for eight years and older and a great choice for your day in Cozumel.

- T5418PCjuliet0 contributionsIt’s ok for a ruin tour, not a great beach stopThe tour guide was great, the transportation worked out, but they switched drivers a few times and it was a little inconvenient, the beach part of this excursion left something to be desired, we were rushed and beach was small and crowdedWritten June 2, 2023
- Deziray L0 contributionsTRY IT! Nothing like it!Wow. What a beautiful experience along the Aqua Dream 2. Big thanks to Carlos, Pictor and Giel!! They made our trip very fun and safe!! My husband and I mixed up our flippers and they were quick to the rescue during the swim when my flipper fell off. So happy with this company!!Written September 14, 2019
- claysadventures0 contributionsGreat way to experience Cozumel!!This is by far the best excursion I have done on a cruise ship. Carlos our main guide was great. He and his crew were very friendly and knowledgeable. The reefs were fantastic and snorkling was easy in the ocean current. Following snorkling, the staff provides you with free margaritas, rum punch, and beer. The food at Playa Mia was the best on the entire trip and loaded with activities for people of all ages. Definitely will return!!Written August 8, 2019
- teachersbettravelin0 contributionsPotential but noIt has everything for a great fun beach break. We went here off a cruise ship. There is not wait service you have to get your own drinks if you do a package. The packages are very limiting. (Only Dos Equis draft) and the fruity drinks are fake sugar and lots of syrup. The pool toys looked fun but were pretty far out to swim. I was concerned that jet skis were being driven by people up to beach on one whole side. Seemed very dangerous for children. The beach chairs were sub par if I am being nice. Many were broken and uncomfortable. We liked the pool especially since you could bring drinks in it. The buffet was more of random snacks... and made me nervous since they had sour cream out in the heat all day. All in all this may have gotten a 4 if the drinks were good.Written July 20, 2019

This was one of the coolest things our family of four has done. I would highly recommend it if you’re up for a little travel from the ship and an adventure! Our tour guide, Pablo, was knowledge and clearly loved and cared for the caves. He told us about the history of the Mayan people using the caves to make religious offerings and then led us into one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. The water is pristine. While cool, it’s like spring water. I didn’t find the offered wet suit necessary. And there was a photographer with the group who documents it all and will send the pictures for a very reasonable price (esp by cruise ship standards). We also loved this tour because it was just us and 1 other family so we were able to escape the maddening crowds of the cruise ship. There are closer underground river experiences but apparently they are very crowded. Do bring your own food though. The water provided wasn’t cold (I have a thing about drinking warm water) and the snack was only a granola bar and banana, so we were glad we had our own provisions for the ride in and out of the forest.

Our family of four really enjoyed the experience of the underground cave. Truly a one of a kind opportunity to experience this underground cave. Pablo was really knowledgeable and attentive to our group. Wetsuits, water shoes, and a helmet (not needed) are provided. Less than half our group wore wet suits. Water refreshing in June. Our two teen boys really appreciated the amazing opportunity. Not strenuous and limited swimming. Only down side is if coming from a cruise ship it will take most of your port time. We had little over an hour. Take motion sickness pills for a bumpy ferry ride and 30 minutes of a bumpy bus ride to make trip better for those prone to motion sickness. Id also suggest to bring hearty snacks. HIGHLIGHT of our trip.

The cave swim was amazing and very memorable but the pictures that their "photographer" took of our family were never sent to me after I paid him for them. $40 down the drain but even worse I will never have the pictures that I paid for!

The excursion was canceled by them the day of the event. We were so disappointed. And it was too late to book another excursion. Makes me leary about not booking through Carnival.

We were most excited about this tour on our trip to Cozumel. Unfortunately, all automated communications offered conflicting information, and most concerningly, did not offer a departure time. Neither I nor Viator could get in contact with the tour operator. To avoid losing out on $300+, we were forced to cancel the tour. Pro-tip: you can find nearly identical tours on other websites for much cheaper - save yourself the money and headache and don't book here.

How much walking is involved. We are perfectly ambulatory, but would be unable to walk 5 miles in uneven ground.

What time do they pick you up and drop you off at the cruise terminal? We want to do this, but also want to make sure we don’t miss our boat!

How strong of a swimmer should you be for this? I have 3 strong swimmers and one that doesn't swim (but likes to float).
