Amazing!
We had a blast at the Mayan cacao company. Our tour guide Roberto was very knowledgeable and kind. He answered all our questions and he also prepared some chocolate for us. The chocolate was super good and we were able to take some with us after the tour was over.

I 100% recommend this tour. You can learn a lot of interesting stuff and also have delicious chocolate (original - not one of those fat based Hershey ones)

We enjoy chocolate
Nov 2021
Four of us did the general admission tour. We saw a video that was narrated telling us about cacao production in Mexico. Four regions within the Country. We learned the relationship between the Mayans and cacao. Very interesting and informative. We got to taste chocolate that was made by our tour guide. We learned the recipe to make it sweet. We ended up in the gift shop that was rather nice. All four of us made purchases. Nativity scenes, butter dish, chocolate. Good way to spend an hour and a half. Thanks.

Exceeded Expectations
We were looking for something my 79 year old father might enjoy. So our expectations were low. This experience from start to finish was amazing. Roberto was our tour guide and he took us the tour answering all our questions and slowly going when my dad was slower moving. They make homemade chocolate at the end and my dad doesn’t have a very sophisticated taste pallet but it was wonderful and he loved it as did me and my husband. At the end there is a bar and I had a chocolate margarita and he taught me what was in it. Mike the bartender was great!!
Highly recommended and highly reputable. I never once thought anyone was trying to take advantage.
Go!!!

Must do!!!!
I had half a day after my morning dive to tour the area when I chanced upon the mayan cocoa factory. There's actually 2 chocolate factory tours in town and this one is next to Playa mia. I arrived around 245 and they graciously ran one more tour for me and it was grand! Roberto took me on a private tour where I learned a lot of chocolate history. I was given some bomb sweet mole on handmade tortillas and ended the tour with a chunk of hand ground spiced honey chocolate. Oh i got to try all their flavors aaaand they threw in an extra bar of their divine dark chocolate with my purchase. I plan to come back to try their margaritas chocolate tour next time!! ( their choco margarita was wonderful).

Tip. They said you can book ahead of time through Facebook

Follow up tip. Try the banana cardamom chocolate. It's to die for

A must do on the Cozumel Island visit checklist.
My husband and I stopped here on our skooter trip around the island and we were very happy we did. Our tour host Angelo was a pleasure and a Cozumel native of 30+ years. Angelo kindly showed us around providing terrific information about the Mayan culture including, bit certainly not limited to chocolate crafting. We learned that the nibs were used as currency and chocolate was a luxury item for only the most important people. Angelo ground the husked nibs and added spices right in front of us and we sampled the delicious creation. If the culture of a vacation destination is important to you please visit this lovely company. There are gorgeous macaws perched around the property too. We were allowed to sample all of the varieties of chocolate made there before we bought any and they made perfect gifts for family and friends. They are wrapped securely so they don't leak even if they melt. I plan to visit again and do the chocolate workshop when we go back to Cozumel. Thank you Angelo for sharing your knowledge with us.

We took this as a tour booked from our cruise ship. The tour guide was very informative. They had a quick demonstration of how they made the chocolate (and tortillas). At the end of the tour we could sample all of the chocolates that they were selling. They did not limit you to 1 taste of each chocolate, you could have all you wanted of them. Fun tour.
