    A Chocolate Lover’s Delight
Paty is an engaging and knowledgeable guide who happened to be celebrating her birthday on the day of our visit. Our small group of four thoroughly enjoyed the full tour, including chocolate making and margarita assembly. The Mayan Cacao experience is a unique dip into a cultural treasure, runs about 90 minutes end-to-end and is worth the very reasonable price of $45. Playa Mia also has an access point to one of the best free beaches in the neighborhood and is not to be overlooked—very much recommend the effort!

    An Amazing Experience
Our tour guide Angel was very knowledgeable and fun. I didn't expect to learn so much and have such a nice experience learning to make margaritas. We even got a chance to try some of the best tortillas and the best chocolate I've ever had.

Margarita, chocolate and a little Mayan history with Angel
We joined the "margarita making class" as an excursion from our cruise - but it was much more than that! We learned some of the history of the island and the area, information about tequila-making and its unique characteristics that help distinguish it from other spirits, and about the importance of both tequila and chocolate to the Mayan culture - all in addition to having an opportunity to learn to make excellent margaritas! Angel was friendly and informative, and the chocolate margarita was different enough from other "dessert drinks" that we will make it again. Five stars for sure!

    Fun and Informative!
My partner and I did the Chocolate & Margarita Workshop and had an excellent time with our tour guide, Patty. She engaged us in the history and culture of the Mayan people as well as the connection to things we know well today. She was knowledgeable and charming. Making chocolate was a cool process and the chocolate margarita was delightful! Highly recommend doing the whole thing.

    Fun small group experience
We did this as an excursion with our cruise line and really enjoyed it. Our guide Angel was very knowledgeable, showed us some beautiful views of the coastline on the way to the Mayan Cacao company, and taught us a lot about tequila. The experience itself consisted of making a lime, mango and chocolate margarita, and all were tasty. It was a nice small group alternative to the beach.

    Mayan Chocolate and Margarita Experience
We did the Chocolate and Margarita Experience at the Mayan Cacao Company. It was amazing. The tour started off with our guide Angel giving us some history on Mayan culture and what chocolate meant to them. Then we go to sample some of the best tortillas we have ever had. After that we got to make our own chocolate bar and then craft in a blender a chocolate margarita. Angel was an awesome guide and we never felt rushed. It was a 5 star experience that we will do again on our next trip to Cozumel.

    A Cultural Experience
Our guide Angel was amazing. He was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We learned so much about the culture behind and history of cacao. Then, made our own. We spent the rest of the day smelling like chocolate. All the staff was very friendly. The gift shop has reasonable prices.

We came for a tour on a rainy day and there was almost no one around so we got a private tour with Eduardo (they graciously provided us with umbrellas). Eduardo was knowledgable and gave us a fantastic tour including mayan history of the cacao plant, corn tortilla tasting (made by Maria), demonstration of how the chocolate is made, and chocolate tasting. They had a boutique to taste and purchase the different chocolate flavors and we stopped at the bar to get a chocolate margarita and mudslide... both delicious (made by Michael). Well worth the $15usd or $285 pesos, we would definitely recommend. Muchas gracias!!

I found this activity noted in a blog about unique places to visit in Cozumel. We decided to book their first tour of the morning, which allowed us to be apart of a smaller group and resulted in a little shorter of a tour(No complaints here). We were treated to fresh corn tortillas with a chocolate mole sauce, a taste of the mouth watering Mayan chocolate made during the demonstration, and plenty of samples at the gift shop afterwards (some interesting flavors that are worth sampling!). The information from our guide Eduardo on both the chocolate process and the Mayan culture surrounding it was impressive, additionally had us laughing throughout the tour! Definitely would recommend for those who like chocolate or want a break from the beach/water activities.

History and the present come together in the tasting of chocolate at the live demonstration. Our tour bus guide led us through the small history display. A lively factory guide demonstrated how chocolate was developed as a food. Angel truly enjoys his work! I wish we'd had more time to explore the shop and taste the chocolates. This is not a theme park in the way Hershey is, but they share the same spirit of fun and play and beauty in their surroundings.

My wife and I were travelling on our own so we were able to make time for the tour (last time we were here we just stopped to shop). The tour was informative and enjoyable. It was even better since we were part of a group of 5 while other tour groups were as large as 25-30. This gave it a much more personal touch since we could easily see and here everything. The history was interesting and the demonstrations were hands on and enjoyable.

We took this as a tour booked from our cruise ship. The tour guide was very informative. They had a quick demonstration of how they made the chocolate (and tortillas). At the end of the tour we could sample all of the chocolates that they were selling. They did not limit you to 1 taste of each chocolate, you could have all you wanted of them. Fun tour.

What a beautiful place they have created, a lot of detail and intention was put into place. Our guide was very informative and she walked us through sharing so much with us. This is great for kids and anybody interested in cacao and the process of creating chocolate. As a cacao enthusiast I was impressed with this entire experience.

Four of us did the general admission tour. We saw a video that was narrated telling us about cacao production in Mexico. Four regions within the Country. We learned the relationship between the Mayans and cacao. Very interesting and informative. We got to taste chocolate that was made by our tour guide. We learned the recipe to make it sweet. We ended up in the gift shop that was rather nice. All four of us made purchases. Nativity scenes, butter dish, chocolate. Good way to spend an hour and a half. Thanks.

Angel gave us a wonderful tour at the Mayan Cacao Company in Cozumel. It was the first of 3 stops on a Carnival Cozumel by Land and Sea Tour.

The whole family enjoyed tasting the ceremonial chocolate the way the Aztecs used to have it.

The best part were the many chocolate drink options afterward. We tried the Chocolate Daquiri (the best), Chocolate Margarita (also good), and frozen hot chocolate (excellent non-alcoholic choice for kids or adults).

We were looking for something my 79 year old father might enjoy. So our expectations were low. This experience from start to finish was amazing. Roberto was our tour guide and he took us the tour answering all our questions and slowly going when my dad was slower moving. They make homemade chocolate at the end and my dad doesn’t have a very sophisticated taste pallet but it was wonderful and he loved it as did me and my husband. At the end there is a bar and I had a chocolate margarita and he taught me what was in it. Mike the bartender was great!!
Highly recommended and highly reputable. I never once thought anyone was trying to take advantage.
Go!!!

Visited here on our cruise stop but, did not take a excursion tour. We booked a separate general admission tour on their website. And it was worth every penny. We got our own guide “ROBERTO”. He was awesome very patiently answered all the questions asked my my kids. Was very interactive and told lots of facts cool stories. The place itself is very nice. There are macaw perched on every corner of the tour. They are so cute. Loved the tortilla and the pumpkin seed dish. The store has lots of chocolates which we can sample and buy if needed. Also the chocolate making process shown by Patti was cool. All in all kids would love this place.
