About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- robertsW501AW0 contributionsDay tour of CozumelOur driver was outstanding. Supremely knowledgeable and experienced, he crafted our day on the fly and our family had a wonderful time. Highly reccomended!Written December 2, 2024

- denisedN870IA0 contributionsGerry is the Best - Great Driver! We have used Tours Plaza many times and each time we have been lucky enough to have Gerry as our driver (we always request him). We just have him drive us around the island and stop wherever we feel like. He patiently waits on us to shop or eat or have a drink. We always have him take us to the "far side" and stop at Mezcalito's and Senior Iguanas. Those are always are "must stops". He has driven us as a couple in a sedan or when we're with friends in a van. He is great I give 100 thumbs up for Gerry!Written September 12, 2024
- Monica M0 contributionsFantastic!I will never travel another way in Cozumel! We were able to go everywhere we wanted and enjoyed beverages without fear. Sergio was our driver and I will absolutely request him every time!! Pick up and drop off was perfect. He had connections around town that helped us. Absolutely recommend!Written February 29, 2024
- starvenger0 contributionsPrivate tour in CozumelWe are a family of four that wanted to go a little bit off the beaten path in Cozumel. We signed up with the Cozumel Taxi Tour as they offered us the ability to customize what we would see. The first thing you should know is that the cost for this tour covers the taxi, the driver, some soft drinks, and a guided driving tour. Any entrance fees are additional, and paid at the location. Pickup was simple. We were given a description of our driver Cantaro, and finding him was easier than getting out of the cruise terminal. From there, we confirmed our tour length and locations to visit, and we were on our way. We had a quick tour of the city, then went to the ruins at San Gervasio. From there, we drove along the far side of the island and stopped at El Mirador. Finally, we took a trip into Punta Sur and explored the area there. Cantaro was very professional, gave us a lot of insight into the history of the island, and gave us a lot of time to look around without rushing us. He recommended some food venues, but we passed as it was getting later in the afternoon. The minivan was old, but very clean and comfortable. Would certainly recommend the Cozumel Taxi Tour if you're looking to change it up from the day resorts and walking around town.Written February 22, 2024

- Renee22410 contributionsGreat day in Cozumel with Gerry as our tour guideWe have used Tours Plaza several times in the past. I contacted Eduardo and asked if he had availability. I asked if Gerry was available after I researched and found several positive reviews for Gerry. Gerry was the BEST!!!!!!!! He was the most polite, helpful tour guide possible. He made sure our day in Cozumel was perfect. We went over our bucket list for the day and he made sure every item was checked off of it. He took the best care of us. He would walk us across the streets while we were shopping, come inside the stores with us to insure our safety, carry our bags for us. We saw several parts of Cozumel we had never seen before. We thoroughly enjoyed our day with Gerry.Written February 8, 2024

- terrylees20170 contributionsprivate Tour CozumelThis is definitely the way to travel and see Cozumel your way rather than the excursions offered by the cruise line. Excursions offered by cruise line are typically one event. If they do offer lunch figure you and 50 others in a buffet line. Yuck! You can set your own schedule and do more than what cruise lines offer. We had a 10 person van so the cost per person is way less than cruise line. We even did a few extra stops at a pharmacist and the beach. Try doing that on a cruise excursion. One word of warning, there is ship time and Cozumel time which can be an hour difference. For some strange reason RCL did not mention this so my schedule was an hour off. Still worked out but no reason the cruise line should not tell you actual shore time.Written January 5, 2024
- RussA90 contributionsPerfect Day at CozumelWe had the perfect day with George! It was such a marvelous time on our private tour. George got us to the chocolate factory before the rest of the cruisers arrived. We had a private demonstration of how to make chocolate and got to make our own from scratch. We then went to the Mayan ruins, and George set us up with the best private tour guide. We were there for an hour. That was a lot of fun too. We then went to the opposite side of the island from where the cruise ships dock. Our restaurant for lunch was quiet and peaceful right next to the beach. We're not really "beach" people, but George took us to a place where there were only three other people. The water and beach were perfect. I found myself wishing I was a beach person, and we'd planned more time. It really was the perfect day.Written December 29, 2023
- CharlesV1060 contributionsExcellent day exploring CozumelGerry was great! We booked based on solid reviews and a desire to not go to a beach club again. He met us at the agreed on spot on time and we quickly put together a plan. We saw more than we could have imagined in 5 hours and would gladly book with him next time we are in Cozumel.Written December 18, 2023
- georgeminStA0 contributionsJust what we wantedMy wife and I were on a cruise with our first stop in Cozumel. We were meeting three friends there and mostly just wanted to be together and get a feel for the area. I read all the reviews on Trip Advisor and decided to get our own personal van to tour the area. What a great decision! We had a wonderful driver and a wonderful time. We saw the ruins and went to a little chocolate factory. We told our driver that we didn't want to do a "major tourist thing" so he took us to a little out-of-the-way chocolate factory that was great. It was just the five of us in the tour. We learned a lot about making chocolate and tasted over 20 types of chocolate before leaving. We ended up at a local restaurant and had delicious meals. We couldn't have asked for a better day. Thanks!Written December 10, 2023
- 226carriew0 contributionsGreat experience with private driverGerry was an excellent guide. He provided helpful information, steered us to the right restaurant, bar, and sights at Punta Sur, and was super nice.Written November 30, 2023
- Luckydriver0 contributionsFantasticJerry was our guide. He was very easy to find right outside the cruise terminal with his yellow hat. He has stated he forgot something at home and would we mind driving back there and it was nice to see the real parts of Cozumel not the tourist section. We had him drive out to punta sur. We wanted to climb the lighthouse. We were also given the opportunity to look at alligators but since it was wet and raining we declined that. We did climb the lighthouse and Jerry also had some interesting local information. For those going on the same journey be aware that the road to get into the park is extraordinarily bumpy. It is impossible to avoid the potholes.. Then we just drove up the beach and he stopped and showed us the place to get a good margarita and some fantastic pictures. There are really neat rock formations and great for unique pictures. Along the way he knew lots of history of the island and we learned all there was to learn about turtle eggs which was fascinating that every morning the government comes out and searches for nests and marks them and the road around the island there is closed all night. He is a wealth of information and I recommend asking for him if you book The tour and he even brought along soda and water which was nice.Written November 4, 2023

Our group of four adults had an amazing day in Cozumel on a private tour led by Victor. Victor was the best!!!!!! He made sure we were taken care of. He filled every single request on our bucket list and delivered much more. He would even walk with us as we shopped, took us to the best places, carried our purchases for us, and made our day in Cozumel the best. We asked for photo ops, pretty beaches, sightseeing, wanted to go to the east side of the island, asked to go to Coconuts, shopping, etc. He made sure we got to do every single thing we requested and had us back at our ship in plenty of time to look around at the port.
We found out during the tour that it was actually Victor's day off but he agreed to come in and guide us since we requested him. Such a nice gesture on his part!
If you have a day in Cozumel, please check out Tours Plaza and ask for Victor if he is available. You won't be sorry! You will leave feeling like he is family.

Absolutely the best way to see Cozumel! We booked a private driver for 5 hours and requested an experience that included history, culture, lunch and tequila tasting. Alex was our driver and was so accommodating to all our requests.
We visited a Mayan cultural center that included us making tamales, chocolate and learning about Mayan culture. Excellent stop. We requested lunch at a local/non touristy spot and Alex took us to the perfect place located on the beach that served freshly caught fish. Fabulous.
The tequila tasting however was a disappointment. I had done a tequila tasting in Cozumel on another visit that was presented very differently. Much more educational and enjoyable. Unfortunately, this location was a rushed touristy spot that was a letdown. But I would definitely book with Alex again and overall, say this was the perfect way to see Cozumel.

We had a great tour with Miguel as our driver. He shared info about history of the island while we drove to the San Gervasio ruin and showed us a cool “sunken” cenote along the way. We hired a guide to take the three of us around the archeological site, which I highly recommend. Our guide had Maya roots and was able to tell us a lot about the history of the place. We then drove along the east side of the island and stopped for lunch along the beautiful beach. Then onto the tequila and chocolate tasting tours which are included. I am aware that “included” tours are expecting you to purchase - it we truly enjoyed both tours and happily purchased tequila and chocolate. It was nice to have a driver navigate everything for the day.

Our tour guide, Gerry, was so amazing! It was an extremely hot day when we visited Cozumel, so our afternoon in Gerry's van was incredible. He was such a great tour guide and customized our trip for us! We did the chocolate tasting (excellent!) and the beach club (we had an hour in the clear blue water!), and had lunch on the island at a fish restaurant he recommended (the fish was so fresh, we picked it out straight of the cooler). He knows all the best spots on the island, having lived there for 30+ years! Since we were so hot, we opted out of the tequila tasting and asked Gerry if we could go to the Mayan Bee Sanctuary. He said sure! On our way there, he stopped on the side of the road so we could try a roadside snack - puffed flour chips topped with a sweet and spicy red sauce. Also, on our way to lunch, we also stopped for a fresh coconut drink with some young coconut strips and pineapple topped with tajin spice.
I definitely recommend this tour as the best way to see Cozumel! We had an incredible time.

Our Tour guide was Geraldo. He was fantastic! We was waiting for us right outside the port as promised and I picked him out right away from the yellow hat. The van was clean, spacious and had a/c. I loved that he had a cooler with some drinks in it. He showed us all around Cozumel pointing out and discussing different landmarks. We did the chocolate tour, a tequila tasting (only 1 in our group likes tequila, we almost asked to skip this one but we were thrilled that we didn't. The guide at the tequila place was really fun and loved the history of it), and we visited the Ruins. His knowledge and expertise of the island was fantastic. We learned so much! We had a group of 9 - 4 Adults, 3 Teens and 2 younger kids. Everyone had a great time. We really enjoyed having a tour guide and van to just our party. When we returned, we had plenty of time to walk around the shops right there at the port and had plenty of time to relax before getting back on the ship. 100% recommended

Antonio was superb, showing us many interesting spots on the island of Cozumel. Highlights were the gorgeous east coast with its beautiful beaches, the tequila distillery with taste tests, and Antonio's in depth knowledge of the history of Cozumel. He gave us many choices of what to visit along with recommendations, and it turned out great!

My husband and I recently took the private tour for 5 hours with a driver from Tours Plaza in Cozumel seeking to maximize our time and avoid the cruise crowds. We were fortunate enough to get Aldo as our private tour guide!!! He was very friendly and knowledgeable. Since we had been to Cozumel several times, I felt that there was probably nothing new to be seen, but Aldo was able to customize our day so that we had new experiences, as well as a repeat of my favorite, tequila tasting! Can't go wrong with this tour operator as everything was smooth from booking to drop off. Thank you Aldo for a great day!

Roger was a fantastic guide! We arrived early and he was there waiting, easy to locate thanks for the detailed instructions provided upon booking our tour. The chocolate tasting was delicious and very interesting, tequila tasting too, and then we opted to go to the Lighthouse and Park where we had a delicious meal, snorkeled on a gorgeous beach, climbed the lighthouse and Roger walked us through the museum: our own personal guide to Mayan history on the island. We learned so much, had so much fun with Roger, and only wished we had a longer stop in Cozumel to continue exploring together. Thank you Roger for the memories! Highly recommend this excursion to everyone!!!

We had a really nice island tour with Eduardo. Our young adults especially liked the tequila tasting tour. Eduardo told a lot about the island's history and everything interesting about the island. The time passed very quickly, although at first it seemed that 5 hours is too much to go around the island.

Two travelers on Royal Caribbean. Landing 4 October. We want a private tour but need to go to Tequilera Reyes for a pick-up and tasting instead of your featured Tequila tour. Can we make this change? How much for the tour for us both of us?

Hi, what would you like to know about this attraction? Did you book Gerry, your driver, through 5-hour tour? I believe the person I corresponded with was Euardo, but Gerry was my driver while there in 2011. Gerry was my driver....an older man with thinning hair, but that was in 2011. Thank you for your assistance.
