Sea turtles - Akumal Bay snorkelling trip
We just did the snorkelling trip in Akumal Bay where we saw lots of sea turtles which was just amazing. The guide was very informative and pointed out lots of animals you might’ve missed without them - like a baby squid! Although the bay is very busy with lots of other tours which is a little concerning for the welfare of the wildlife, the guides are very organised and strict, making sure you give the animals plenty of distance and remain still so you don’t scare them if they’re moving about. Definitely a little on the pricey side for just 1 hour of snorkelling and transportation from the hotel, but I think you pay for the convenience of booking from your hotel (Catalonia). However, as I was desperate to see the turtles, it was completely worth it in my eyes as it could be a once in a lifetime experience to see that many - plus rays - in one trip.

Excellent instructor Camille; central reservation could have done better
We stayed at a hotel next to the The Pro Dive shop at the Westin which is more on the north end of the island. We prebooked our kids' beginner dive lessons, but when we got there, they recommended the dives be done from their other shop on the south side at the Occidental Hotel, as it seems more of the better dives for beginners are down there. That location is a 30 minute drive south from where we were staying. Had I been informed of that detail by the Pro Dive central booking, I would have booked to stay closer to that end, especially since morning dive boats leave at 8 a.m. Breakfast at our hotel didn't even open till 7 a.m. but were required to leave from our hotel at 7 a.m. for the taxi ride down. That made for a bit of stress and grumpy tired kids. So I recommend making sure where's the best place to stay based on where you really want to dive, your expertise, and weather which can affect the location of the dives. Our children learned to dive from Camille, who was a very kind and excellent teacher. She explained things very thoroughly. She was very attentive underwater and after the dives, took the time to show the kids, some of what they saw, from a little booklet of marine life. I've never had a dive master ever do that, so that was very nice. She put them at ease and made the whole experience enjoyable. They passed their certification! I highly recommend her. The rest of the staff of divers to helpers on the boat were also extremely nice, helpful, and efficient. Just to let you know, this dive shop has you assemble your own gear together on the boat. However, if you need help, ask, and they will help you. 5 stars for this shop staff. 3 stars is for central reservation which could have better informed me of the actual dive location for beginners.

      Mediocre Dive Experience.
I purchased "the Ultimate Dive Package" through Allegro Cozumel. One would think that that would cover most of my diving for my 10 night stay. Instead it covers one dive per day for the 9 days. Now anyone who dives knows that each dive drip includes at least 2 dives (usually 2 in Coz) so I had to pay $70 per day extra. Nitrox 32 was $14 /day cash extra. If a dive was cancelled for any reason such as bad weather the dive credit is lost and does not carry over. To their credit Pro-Dive broke this rule a couple of times for me as a favor. My biggest complaint about Pro-Dive, and I used them before from Occidental, is that dives are mediocre, shallow dives that are geared to beginner divers. Any experienced diver is better off not buying a dive packing with the resort but hiring of the many dive operators on the Island, who will gladly stop at the dock and pick you up. We spend thousands of dollars and go through much trouble to go to Coz to expect better than bland beginner dives. The rinse tanks and gear storage facilities at Pro-Dive Allegro were quite good.

      Decent experience w/ some hiccups
Getting there (this is not clear from the details in this listing, so adding them here in the hopes that it'll help someone): - If you're coming from the mainland you'll need to get a ferry that costs about $15-20 per person, each way. You'll find a lot of resellers as you walk towards the ferry who only take cash, but you can pay with credit card at the actual ferry building. The ferry takes about 40 mins to get to the island. - Once you're on the island, you need to pay $20 / 300 pesos for a taxi to get to the dive shop. Taxis on the island only take CASH according to our driver, so make sure you're prepared, since hitting the ATM cost us a good 10-15 mins. The taxi takes about 25 mins to get to the dive shop. - When we got to the dive shop the security at the gate of the hotel (the dive shop is in the hotel) wouldn't let the taxi into the hotel, even though the shop owner later on told us that they should've let us through. From the side gate, it's about a 5-10 min walk to the dive shop, so be prepared for this. Pre-scuba diving: - The equipment rental process was smooth, and we got gear that fit us well. - Our scuba guide was a younger gentlemen who spoke decent English and gave us a decent briefing at the beginning and mid-way through the boat ride. That said, he wasn't around otherwise. I've been on tours where the guides are a little more engaging and attentive. - The tank and BCD weren't set up for us so we had to assemble it ourselves, which I personally hadn't done in a while, since most companies do it for you. While inconvenient in one respect, it was a good refresher and there were some other divers on the boat who were willing to guide us. - The boat was fairly packed after we picked up a handful of folks from another location. This made the set up piece a little more challenging since there wasn't as much space to prep or sit (probably not an issue if you're an experienced diver though). Scuba diving: - In the water, our guide showed us a decent amount of stuff, and the visibility in the area was great. Saw some sting rays, eels, crabs, and a variety of colorful fish. - My partner had issues with her weights, and one of the other divers had to go up about half way through, and the guide handled both those situations in an experienced manner. - We only did one dive since my partner wasn't feeling great after the first one. Pricing: - Pricing was on par with what other shops were charging. Last words: - I felt somewhat rushed getting to the dive shop, so I would recommend taking an earlier ferry and spending some time in the downtown Cozumel area for a bit before heading over to the dive shop.

Snorkeling with the Allegro Cozumel Dive Shop, especially Moises was great
I did three snorkeling tours with this operation. I was staying at the Allegro Cozumel so Pro Dive was a obvious company to snorkel with. Their snorkeling tours are very reasonably priced and give high value. They take you to two reefs (sometimes three, the Turtle Sanctuary is absolutely spectacular) each tour. The reefs are about 15 feet down, but the water is very clear and the all reefs are a world class swim. (The Dalila reef I found less interesting than the others -- but the whole swim was still unforgetable.) I just wanted to give a special shout-out to Moises who was my guide while I was doing my snorkeling tour. He was an excellent guide, easily friendly; he pointed out turtles and rays in the vicinity where we were swimming, and went out of his way to make sure I was safe and happy and knew what was happening and where where the tour was going next.

      Super accommodating and flexible staff
We stayed at the Westin Cozumel where there’s a Prodive shop. We scheduled our dives and pool refresher with Edgar, and the refresher with Marcello was a great way to go over all the basics after a four year hiatus. Then bad weather hit and we were stuck on shore for two days. We discussed going back to Playa del Carmen to dive the Cenotes, and Edgar made a bunch of calls to make it happen. Carlos picked us up at the ferry and took us to two Cenotes where he lead us on two dives. It was so nice to have the option to dive the Cenotes while the port was still closed.

      Avoid & Never Pre-Pay Anything
We spent over $2300 on a family set of dives with this operation. Unfortunately, one of our children was arriving a day late in the customer service that we received after having purchased, the package was horrible to say the least. The people at Pro Divers International were rude, and would not give us a refund for the equipment that we rented or the dives for the missed day. In today’s day and age, when respectable businesses appreciate the customers and tend to be quite accommodating and thoughtful about providing good customer service, this operation stands out as well below expectations and at the bottom of the barrel. The main dive reservation leader, Coralie Godard, was especially rude and uncooperative in fairly resolving the issue. I would do everything I can to avoid renting or working with this operation and rent from neighboring dive shops that we have found over the years to be much more accommodating and thoughtful in customer service. If you are considering using this operation, DO NOT PREPAY anything or you’re at their mercy. Arrange everything at the resort with the actual shop on the premises. It has been a horrible experience, and one that I would not want anyone else to have to endure. Avoid this place!!

      Exceptionally Great
My daughter and I stayed at the Westin and took both the open water and advanced scuba diving training through Pro Dive International right at the dock. Our instructor was Andres Galindo and he was fabulous. Speaks Spanish natively and English exceptionally well. He described every thing to expect clearly during the pre dive meetings on the boat. Always watching out for you and the group during the dive! Diving should be taken seriously and Andres made sure you were comfortable with getting to know the skills so you knew what to do in case of an emergency, and yet his humor made us laugh many times. In addition, the boat crew, Katy Yaren the wonderful lady who scheduled our multiple training sessions, and the other instructor were all very professional, and all had good sense of humor. They made it both fun and safe!!! Can’t say enough about the abundance of aquatic life. True Amazing 👍 Highly recommend this scuba place or outfit if you make it to Cozumel Mexico. Thank you all so much for making our vacation safe and memorable🙂.

Amazing diving experience with a fantastic guide
This was my first time diving in Cozumel and I had a fantastic time with the team here. Before one of my dives my personal equipment had a malfunction (burst O-Ring on the first stage). I was given rental equipment to use for the dive, and afterwards the shop fixed my regulator, all for no charge. Our guide, Javi Torres, is truly passionate about both diving and the marine ecosystem. His wealth of knowledge and confidence while diving really brought our experience to the next level.

      Amazing team to dive with!
I’d just been certified and my wife finished her certification on this trip so we’re beginners. That being said Javier Torres and Danny Whitmore were amazing to work with and instilled confidence in both of us! My wife even ended up having a medical emergency while we were diving and they were prepared and well trained to deal with it appropriately. The entire team was helpful, professional and great to work with. Can’t recommend them enough!

      Top Notch Dive Experience
Edgar and.Carla were extremely knowledgeable and helpful during the planning phase of our dive trip. My 17 year old daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our 2 tank excursion. Ana took us to San Francisco Reef on the first dive which was and extremely relaxing wall/drift dive. We then went to Bolones de Chankanab where we saw many lobsters and a nurse shark. It was an amazing experience! Highly recommend!

      Life Changing Adventure
I had the most magical adventure with this team. I completed my certification with Javier Torres- marine biologist extraordinar. Other than being my instructor, he was my teacher. He took the time to explain the biodiversity of the sea, the more scientific side of my new favorite hobby, and helped me look like a "pro". He was patient, supportive, and excellent in his clear communication of expectations and safety concerns. He made my first underwater adventure the best experience of my life. Once my fun dives began, my husband and I got paired up with Danny Whitmore. Most chill, passionate dive master I've ever met. He was the best leader we could've asked for. He was quick to point out all the best creatures and led us through caves and canyons full of bright, beautiful life. He was also quick to meet my needs when I had a little itty bitty mishap underwater. Like our instructor, he was clear in his expectations and made sure we were having a fun and safe experience. The entire crew was awesome! Everyone was extremely helpful with paperwork. You NEED to go with this location to have one of the best experiences of your life.

Me and my dad stayed at Allegro where pro dive is based and while the resort itself sucked for multiple reasons, our dive experience through pro dive was excellent. Eddie helped us with our pool check, said something to my dad about the way he was breathing(can't remember what) but something clicked for him and he went from being the first person out of air every time to having more air than anyone by the end of a dive. We dove mostly with Nate who was overall one of the best guides either of us have ever had and had one night dive with Saba who was also a great guide. The ladies behind the desk were very helpful and patient and all the equipment we rented was clean and fully operational. Highly recommended dive shop, just avoid the allegro resort itself.

We went diving with Pro Dive International July 18th 2022. It was our 1st and 2nd time respectively, and we went with the tour doing pool training before going out on the sea.
Everyone made us feel very comfortable and safe during the training and later the dives themselves.

The dives were amazing, with lots of wildlife, that our guide point out with handsignals we learned beforehand. Definitely recommend going!

Eat breakfast before arriving. Lunch can be bought on the resort for 20 USD or you can go eat at the restaurant right next to the resort for some cheaper food - there's 1-2 hours between pool training ending and the boat leaving.

I went to Pro Dive International in Cozumel with my son and his girlfriend to the 8-hour PADI Discover SCUBA Diving Tour. I would like to commend Sammy and Nanu for their welcoming demeanor and providing a professional diving experience. Nanu taught us the classroom portion and she conducted the pool instruction. Sammy then was our dive instructor in the ocean. They both come across similarly with a raw sense of wonder that is contagious. They took the time to go over every concept and were able to explain it in a very understandable way (both had an appealing French accent).

During the dives, Sammy took the time to constantly check to make sure our group stayed together and stayed safe. Sammy would call us over and point out interesting fish and hermit crabs. We were able to see a giant lobster, a giant eagle ray, several barracuda, and a vast assortment of fish including a large group of fish we were able to swim close to.

I highly recommend diving with Pro Dive International and specifically with Sammy and Nanu to guarantee maximum enjoyment. They were very informative and displayed such a pleasant relaxing demeanor that completely takes away any nervousness a newcomer may experience. I cannot wait to dive again based on this experience, and my son feels the same way. Thank you for the great experience checked off our bucket list!

So we came in on Virgin Voyages. We have had great luck in the past using trip advisor. So we booked 7 weeks prior to our trip. Mind you this is my second visit to the island in 5 years. We emailed Coralie Godart in the reservations department. She asked that we confirm our departure time on the cruise as most cruises leave at 5pm and ours does not leave till 10pm. We told her we arrive in port at 8am and can be at their facility by 830am. The event was suppose to start at 8 but in an email we have from Coralie Godart she stated as long as we arrive by 9am we are fine. We walked up at 825am and found Niko and he walked us to the desk and we tried to check in and they denied us as we were late! I said no we were told we would be ok to arrive at 830. The employees seemed mad at us until I pulled out the email and showed them. They called a manager over and he said that they could not take us because the class was already in the pool. He said that they would refund us. We got home and I reached out today to start the refund process and we were told that we were no shows and no refund is to be given. We spent $25 on a cab to the hotel dive site and $25 back to the port and didn’t even complain about that as we understand things happen. If we would have been told that no you must be here by 8am then we would not have scheduled it. The only concern they had was our departure time. I am highly appalled at how they have handled this today. If your staying on the island your probably fine but if your coming in on Virgin DO NOT BOOK with them! Not only am I out the $398 that the dive cost we are out an additional $50 in cab rides. All we asked for was a refund so now I will take this up with trip advisor to escalate it.

Sami was the BEST instructor who truly cared about our diving experience! He was patient with all 5 of us and took the time to ensure we all felt comfortable with what we learned in the pool before going out into the water. Best Discover dive EVER! I highly recommend this group to anyone who’s considering getting their PADI certification. This was our second time with this group and they once again exceeded our expectations! I’ll come back again and again!!!

My girl and I had a blast! I have to start off by thanking our guide, Gustavo. If you can request a guide, then he’s out #1 pick. He was very knowledgeable and a funny guy, full of fun facts about the area and animals. We were able to swim and see a lot of turtles and fish. The second part of the trip was the best in my opinion. We went to the underground cave and it was amazing! Water was refreshing and crystal clear.

Great time scuba diving at this location with this company. They were very easy to deal with and Jesse was a great dive instructor to my three children. I am a certified scuba diver but they are not and they ended up having a great time learning in the morning with the pool instructions and then out to the ocean for the real deal. My kids ages are 11,15,17. All did great and had a great time.

This was one of the best experiences I'v ever had. I did the PADI discover scuba diving tour 3 weeks ago with Caleb and loved it! He was awesome. I enjoyed it so much that I recently went back and received my PADI Open Water diver's certification. Andres, who is very funny and put me at ease immediately, gave my first lesson and Anna was my scuba instructor. She was a fantastic instructor and very patient. In 2 days I completed the program and was able to go on 4 incredible dives. I can't recommend them enough if you are interested in exploring the ocean! I can't wait to go back and continue my underwater adventure!!
