This was exactly what we were looking for and our excursion guide, Gaby, exceeded our expectations! We wanted a relaxing “inside look” at the natural flora and fauna of the local area. Gaby was very knowledgeable and navigated us quickly past the main motorized boat routes into the selected areas of the lagoon. Once inside the estuary, we saw barracuda and needlenose fish, baby starfish, baby crabs, puffer fish, interesting insect nests, a white stingray, and heron and other birds in the mangroves. Gaby was very patient with one of us who had never kayaked before and she caught on quickly. Three hours was the perfect amount of time. We highly recommend this kayak tour over the motorized boat tour to protect the delicate balance of nature in this vulnerable environment.

Thank you Gaby! Yola & Shelly

Loved this trip! We did the 12.00 trip and our family of 5 were the only participants. Our guide, Gaby, was lovely: relaxed, patient, informative and flexible. She showed us stingrays, starfish, nosefish, pelicans, barracuda, herons, eagles, huge insect nests and crabs which climbed trees! It was lovely to kayak down the very narrow channels and then have a rest on the tiny picturesque beach with a drink and a banana!
I shared a kayak with my 5yo and my husband shared with the 8 and 10 year olds. We could take our waterproof bag on the kayak which spare clothes/ money etc. Gaby took loads of photos for us and whatsapped them to me which was great.
A really good value trip compared to what else is on offer and a really peaceful way to explore the mangroves and get close to nature.
The children all loved it too.
Gaby also gave us other tips for things to do in downtown Cancun which was great.

During our recent vacation in Cancun we wanted to go Kayaking but didn't want to commit to an entire day-long outing with a tour company. The Nichupte Lagoon tour was exactly what we were looking for. To be clear, this is not a large tour company. It was run by a local guide. I believe his name is Axel but I can't remember. Scheduling the tour was easy. We met the tour guide at the appointed place and quickly went over what to expect. Got the kayaks in the water and we were off.
The tour itself was exactly what I needed. We weaved through the mangroves while the guide took his time telling us about the history and wildlife of the area. The entire time, I was amazed by the views and how tranquil it was. There was a short time where we had to kayak through choppy waves but for the most part, the entire tour was scenic and calming.
If I had one recommendation, it would be to offer shorter tours as an option. This tour lasts 3 hours, which for me was perfect. However, my wife felt it was a bit long for her. She still enjoyed the tour very much but felt it was a little long for her. I'm betting that if we had asked for a shorter time period, the guide would have been accomodating. Overall, we both enjoyed the tour and were glad we did it. I'd do it again.

This tour was a wonderful opportunity to explore part of the mangroves of the lagoon. I chose the eight am outing and was able to relish the peace of the smaller waterways, see the different coloured waters, see baby herons in the tree adjacent to their nest and feel good that I got exercise in an environmentally friendly way. In the midst of so much noise and comm
ercialism this is a gem of an outing. If you go with expectation of seeing specific things you may be disappointed, but that's how it is in the natural world. In the mangrove we are the guests. Thank you Axel.

In the 1st place, there was very little to observe by way of the mangrove ecosystem as advertised. The pedal did not occur in a lagoon as is indicated surrounded by birds, trees, and other things to observe from the relaxed posture of a paddle that we signed up for. Rather, we had to cross a mile and a 1/2 of open water against the current only to get over to a mangrove that we were inside for 5 minutes. Also, as noted in the advertisement, during this paddle you are not allowed to land on that beach. So they should take that off there, because that is one of the reasons my friend and I signed up for this is because we like to take breaks and little beaches while we kayak. But in this case we were not allowed to stop as we were told the government does not allow that period perhaps that should be in the notice so other potential paddlers know this period period finally we had to cross the same mile and a 1/2 of open water to get back to the starting area only this time and a pretty dangerous cross current. Fortunately common my friend and I are young, strong, and experienced paddlers and I totally object to the language in this advertisement pointing to how it is perfect for young, beginners, and couples

Good morning James, thanks for your comments, unfortunately the weather is not under our control, yesterday the wind was 5kts, your decision to return at the middle of the tour did not allow you to enjoy the full ride and stop at the beach where it is allowed to relax, we recommend the tour, for youth, families and beginners as they are groups that have enjoyed the ride, we are really sorry that it was so tiring for you. We wish you a great return to your country next Friday.
