f you are looking for a reliable, friendly, and safe driver in Mexico City, do not hesitate to contact Aaron Cruz. He took us to Teotihuacan, la Basilica de Guadalupe, Cacahuamilpa Caves, and the colonial town of Taxco. We were fortunate to have met someone who was flexible and most importantly, a good, honest person. We would not hesitate to hire him again.

Staff was very nice but we felt very rushed when we got there. Pushed us to get out very fast. Course had a lot of work going on and two temporary greens. Club house closed and a temporary building. They had also just sanded. Not that huge of deal but never mentioned it prior at all and no break on price. We also rented clubs at a very high price but they gave you no balls with it and we had to buy balls. Just never seen that before. Staff was nice once done but just not worth the cost right now.

Played yesterday solo as the first off T time, so pace of play was not a consideration. II’ve seen reviews of other courses in Riviera Maya where there were complaints about lost T time reservations and “up charges” at the clubhouse. This could not be said of El Chameleon Mayakoba. Arrival at the security gate confirmed my T time and identity before I was granted access to this secure resort. Arrival at the clubhouse went smoothly and the fee was the previously agreed upon $200 usd. The staff inside the clubhouse and on the course was courteous, friendly, bilingual in all of my contacts. The beverage cart was around several times during my round and I played in 2.5 hours as the first off that day. The carts are new, clean and have gps that is state of the art. Cold water bottles are in the coolers on the cart and the sand bottles are full to the top. If you need clubs or other supplies they are available but I cannot address specifics as I brought clubs,shoes and balls. The club house is in temporary facilities as the main club house is undergoing renovations. This I suspect is in anticipation of the LIV event planned for February ‘24 unless global golf politics intercede. Nonetheless, the temporary facility gets the job done. The club is bermuda grass throughout and the turf is in pristine condition. The greens had been “punched and sanded” about 10 days before my play. They’d been watered a lot and rollled several times and were slower than they will be obviously but quite playable. The course itself is hewn from the costal mangroves so jungle and freshwater rivers traverse the course and are ever present. Having said that, I would also say the fairways are wide, forgiving and the turf is soft so runout into trouble is not much of a problem. If you put a ball in the jungle, it’s gone so bring spares if you think you’ll need them. I put only one ball out of play on a blocked T shot into the jungle. Fairway and green side bunkers are manicured extensively and filled with copious amounts of white fine grained sand. There are some utility “bunkers” on the course with the more typical coarse material that could be in play as well. On the coarse, there are two par three holes undergoing renovation for the anticipated LIV event, so temporary greens and short holes. There are beer and water beverage coolers on those holes with free beer if you want to placate the disappointment in playing two holes in abridged conditions. Just beware. The day I played the driving range was also being renovated so hitting from mats into nets was all that was available. I hit a few shots to loosen my older bones and then headed to the short game facility that is extensive and lovely. Once the renovations are complete (and even now) this is a beautiful golf course that is very well maintained with excellent support staff inside and outside. Should I be in Rivera Maya again in the future, playing here would be an absolute yes. Book a tee time, I don’t think you’l be disappointed. Having seen many negatives about other area courses, this seems a sure bet to avoid the uncertainties the other reviews may pose for you. I’m NOT on the payroll and I sometimes wish people with good things to say were more of those willing to post. Adios!!

My wife and I rented a private driver/tour guide for 2 days in Mexico City. His name was Roberto (through the Sofitel hotel) and he was terrific. Fluent in English, flexible, helpful, took us too fabulous sites around the city. He charges $45 an hour American, but while worth it...his number 55 38 09 0777 or 56 2035 1357.....

Esteban Barrera was our fabulous private driver while we were in Mexico city. He was ready to contact and communicate with on What'sApp, made some amazing recommendations and showed us sites in the city that we would never have seen without him. We also went to the pyramids and took a hit air balloon 🎈 ride which was a highlight of our trip.!!! Thanks Esteban, you were the best.

Awesome golf course. Thoroughly enjoyed start to finish. I played here a couple of weeks before the LIV event that is scheduled on 24th Feb. The course was in fantastic shape. I am a professional from the UK and the staff could not have been more obliging and welcoming a credit to the facility and services offered. Great test and great practice facilities. Will be back. A wonderful PGA tournament golf course . Very scenic. Superbly presented . Simply the best Golf service team I’ve encountered. Joaquin and his team of Juan , Eduardo,Elfego,Miguel,Manuel,Oscar, Adrian , Freddy and also Julia in the office are providing world class service. The course was being aerated the week of my visit. I wanted to play there so I called. The front nine was being aerated on Monday so I played the back nine twice. On Wednesday I reversed it and played the front nine twice. On Friday I played the entire course. Even after being aerated the course was in perfect condition. The greens and fairways were perfect. Very challenging course but super fun to play! The best part of the whole experience was the staff. They were very accommodating and very friendly. They made sure I was taken care of! It was hot and humid but they made sure I stayed cool with water and a nice wet towel. I played as a single and the Marshall made sure I was happy and could play through if I wanted to. All of the staff was on top of their game. I really felt like I was appreciated and they cared about my experience there! At the end of the round they gave me a popsicle! Not a big deal but it hit the spot. I sat there enjoyed my popsicle and chatted with the staff. I never felt pressured to hurry up or move on. In fact they told me over and over to take my time and do whatever I wanted. I was in Playa del Carmen for a week and played there 3 times. My next trip I will play there every day and bring my golf buddies! It’s not the cheapest golf course in town but worth every penny! Budget accordingly and you will have a great experience too!

As a non-golfer, I wasn’t nearly as excited about this trip as my husband. After spending the day here, I’m excited to go back again in the future. We’re staying off property so needed a ride to the course. Jerry was a great driver who navigated expertly through traffic and road work like a pro! He gave us some great restaurant recommendations and was overall great to spend some time with. On the course, Liz took some amazing pictures of us and took great care of us across the entire course of play. Our experience at Mayakoba was second to none and we’ll DEFINITELY be back - in large part because of Jerry and Liz. Thank you!!!
