Discover why this pre-Columbian city played an important role in the Mayan civilization and is still considered a scared site today. Choose from tours in English, Spanish, Italian, or German.
What to Expect

Make the most of your visit to Cancun and take this unique tour opportunity which guarantees a guided visit and personalized attention from a professional. You get to choose the language that best suits you and your group: English, Spanish, Portuguese, German and French options are available.

Arriving in Chichen Itza, a specialized private guide will give you a detailed tour of the site. Throughout the tour, your guide will provide archaeological essential background so you better understand the history of Chichen Itza.

Chichen Itza, which name means "Mouth of the well (Chichén) of the water wizards (Itzá)" was the most important city of the Maya area during the whole Classic and the beginnings of Post Classic periods. At the arrival of the Spaniards, it was the most visited center of cult and pilgrimage of Yucatan Peninsula. Along with the Chichen Itza and the Cenote of Sacrifices they are still sacred centers for the remaining Maya people.

Due to its cultural importance the site was inscribed in UNESCO World Heritage list in 1988.

Discover why this large pre-Columbian city played an important role in the Mayan civilization around 600 AD to 1200, and remained a center of worship and pilgrimage until the arrival of the Spaniards. Even today, it is still considered sacred by the Mayan people of the Yucatan site.

Like many of the cities of ancient Mexico, the site was abandoned, and its ruins were hidden in the jungle.

This archaeological site has earned the protection of UNESCO and today it’s considered one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
