My 11-year old son and I visited Mexico and decided to join one of the tours. This one seemed quite interesting, especially the snorkling part, so we booked it.
Even with the first impression of our driver and our guide Boaz, I knew this was going to be an amazing experience.
We started with Tulum, the Mayan ruins, continued with snorkling at a coral reef in Caribbean Sea and ended in Cenote caves.
The guide tried all the way to give us as much information as possible, he was assisting us at every stop, he appeared highly skilled, well educated and supportive.
Even though the snorkling part was fun with all the stingfish right beneath us, the best part was definitely the Cenote caves. The water in the cave is quite cold, but Boaz told us so many interesting things on the way, we would forget about the cold and enjoy the stories. The best came at the very end, where we would all jump in to the water from about 3 to 4 meters high rock. With a story why we're supposed to do that included.
At the beach and in the cave, we were met by our photographer Tony, who called himself a paparazzi. He would constantly take beautiful pictures of us, which we could later purchase for 40$. We couldn't have had better memories.
I would also like to compliment the entire group. They were all so sweet, kind and cooperating with each other, it makes me sad to say I'll probably never see them again.
Additionally, I would like to commend the online support from the agency. When I received the link to my pictures, it wouldn't work because of the improper reservation code. I contacted them and they solved the problem in one day.
Overall, there are some things you have to know before going on this tour. Firstly, you have to be physically fit to endure all the activities. Our tour lasted from 8 am till 6 pm. You make about a 45 minute walk with the guide at Tulum ruins, then at least 30 minutes of snorkling and lastly about a 45 minute swim and walk through the cave. My son did years of swimming training and quite some snorkling, he also took a 2-week course of kayaking, so he was able to manage. But the tour is definitely not appropriate for poor swimmers. Secondly, the van is pretty uncomfortable, packed with chairs, and the road to the cave is extremely bumpy. Not for the people suffering from motion sickness.
However, for the people looking for an unforgettable adventure, I'm absolutely recommending this tour. I promise you, you'll have the best time in your life.

We were picked up from our hotel by Arturo and Marianno who provided us with snacks and information about our day. We then proceeded to pick up a few other tourist couples and families for our trip. I will admit that the van we used was quite small and I did not feel comfortable knowing that one girl was coughing every five minutes for the entire trip. We headed to the first stop which was the Tulum Ruins. It was about an hour drive from out hotel in Cancun. The tulum ruins were beautiful but also crowded and it is a bit of a walk so I recommend bringing comfortable shoes, sunglasses, a hat, and sunscreen. To be honest we did not get to take many good pictures due to the crowds and the sight itself is much smaller than Chichen Itza for example. I would suggest seeing this site before Chichen Itza so you are not underwhelmed.
We then went to a lagoon to snorkel due to unfavorable weather conditions in the sea where we had initially planned to snorkel. This part of the trip was definitely worth it. Marianno was very accommodating and even helped those of us who did not know how to swim make our way into the lagoon. After this point, we continued into the forest where we had lunch provided for us. It was a nice area to rest and relax. The next part of the trip was into the underground cenote which was by far the best part of this experience. It was gorgeous inside in a way that I cannot describe. I would say this was the highlight of our trip and surpassed any other cenote we had visited. Pictures were provided to us for an extra cost of $40. However, I will say that more pictures were taken of couples and families and since my brother and I went on this excursion together, we didn’t feel that the pictures taken of us were as good. However, due to the fact that we were not able to take many pictures while participating in the activities and left our phone behind in the cave due to poor visibility, we did purchase. They had also informed that we would receive five folders of additional pictures with our purchase which would include the ruins, fish, cave photos etc. We never did get those files and my email was left unanswered. Nevertheless, I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone visiting.

Thank you very much for taking time to write a detailed review. Your opinions are very valuable to us, and will be taken into consideration for the future. We purposudely leave the cenote for the last part, since we know clients are flabbergasted with the beauty of the underground caves and rivers. We are glad that you enjoyed them as much as we do. Crowds are always unfortunate for any traveler, however, they are outside of our control. Regarding the photos, please send us an e-mail once again so we can send you the extra pictures. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your experience with us, and we hope to see you again in the future. Dario Ocean Tours Team

Due to the pandemic, my family was on a modified version of this tour. Instead of walking around Tulum, we visited Muyil instead and later admired Tulum from the sea as we snorkeled. We had a great time. Our group was pretty varied, and our guide Pepe (bb) handled every challenge seemingly effortlessly. He and our driver Zach were both absolutely lovely.

We particularly enjoyed touring a cenote where Pepe's enthusiasm really shined. The trip also included a giant, safe lunch that was very tasty! There was more food than I could realistically eat, but I enjoyed everything I tried.

Ocean Tours sent a photographer with us on our tour, with an option to buy the full album at the end of the day. Tony's photos were definitely worth the price, which wasn't actually as much as we'd expected. We also took plenty of pictures on our own phones, of course!

One thing we'd recommend for future travelers: remember that sunscreen is not permitted in many areas. We'd recommend bringing an SPF shirt and watershoes. Alternatively, Ocean Tours will sell you a long sleeve shirt and lend you watershoes, if needed.

Joaquín was an incredible guide, full of energy and kept everyone entertained. Activities are amazing and a must do excursion! Best way to spend my 30th birthday and Joquín really made it a day to remember. It’s an early start from Cancun and takes the whole day but definitely worth it. My only gripe would be the all inclusive lunch, although it’s a buffet and you can have extra servings etc, the food unfortunately isn’t kept covered and had flies hanging around and landing on the food while serving. This isn’t the operators fault as it’s a 3rd party company who do the lunch but maybe something that the operator could look into as it is quite unhygienic. The photographer was also incredible, got some AMAZING shots of everyone in the waters with the turtles and stingrays, and in the caves and cenotes and excellent value for money to purchase, looking forward to recieving them in email, 100% recommend!!!!

My first solo trip out of the country. I booked this tour after talking with a random lady by the pool at my resort. I felt was reasonably priced for a full day of activities, transportation and lunch. Since I was solo I was paired with this awesome family of 9 for the day. I was picked up from my resort and we headed out to the ruins. Our tour guide was hilarious and knew everything about everything. Next stop was snorkeling. All equipment was provided. I can't swim, like at all. My tour guide made sure that I was able to participate and felt safe during the whole thing. I was scared out of my mind but it was really awesome!!!! Next we drove to the cenote, there we had a buffet style, homecooked authentic Mexican food. Everything was delicious. Life vests and water shoes were provided here as well. There was even a photographer that followed up for the whole day so we didn't have to worry about taking picture. This was easily the best money I spent while on my trip and I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in these activities while traveling in Mexico.

What a fantastic trip! Our guide (Nora) was superb throughout the day. Pickup was on time, there was plenty of information given about the trip and the Mexican history. There were plenty of bottles of water in the minibus for us to help ourselves to.
The trip to Tulum was really hot but Nora provided umbrellas for shade. The tour guide was perfect for us, just the right balance of information without going overboard.
Nora was exceptional at helping my daughter with the snorkelling as she was very nervous about it (1st timer), even pulling us around the sea to different areas and pointing out the turtle, rays, etc as they passed underneath us. My daughter and myself held onto a buoy as we are not confident swimmers; together with the lifejackets we felt 100% safe.
The trip to the cenote was amazing and swimming through the water was a memory we will never forget. We forgot our watershoes but luckily, they do provide them if you don't have any with you. Again, plenty of information was given by Nora, with lots of interesting things to look at.
Lunch was lovely, I am quite fussy and not adventurous with trying new foods, but the chicken tacos and rice and black beans provided were just the right balance of Mexican/British that made even me enjoy them!
Photos were available to purchase ($65 for a family of 4), payable by cash, card or paypal, and were worth every penny!
I would 100% recommend this trip and would even go again myself given the chance.

The whole tour hosted by Arturito with Neftali driving was great! The van was well airconditioned and comfortable. Arturito gave us a great lesson on the history of the area, equipped with an ipad with pictures for reference. We made one quick stop to pick up Wendy the photographer (who takes beautiful photos throughout the day). Once at Tulum we saw the ruins, learned about the people and of course took some amazing pictures. There was a fully stocked cooler of water in the van waiting for us, which was much appreciated given the extremely hot day we had. From there we went a few kilometers up the road to the beach where we got our snorkel gear, we did a little photo shoot with Wendy on the beach before heading out to the reef. Arturito was very vocal the whole time and kept an eye on all 10 of us to make sure we stuck together as group and nobody wandered too far away. He was also keeping an eye out for schools of fish or turtle sightings. We were lucky enough to get to see a sea turtle and a stingray during out time. Wendy the photographer was also in the water taking pictures of the group above water, underwater, pictures of the coral and the other sea life. After we returned to shore we were able to rinse off at a beach shower before boarding the bus for the cenote tour (cave part). We were given a snack bag in the van with a delicious spinach and cheese empanada. Once we arrived to the cave site the team on site already had the lunch ready to go, there were several options of empanadas, meats and sides (rice, beans, vegetable mix, tortillas, etc.). Along with 2 fresh juice options in addition to water. After lunch we were provided water shoes (you can also bring your own) for the cave tour. The cave tour by far was my favorite part as it was an experience I had never had before and once again Arturito went above and beyond to make sure we all had an understanding of the history and significance of these caves. You do a mix of wading and swimming through the natural spring waters while taking in the sights of the stalactites and stalagmites. The total time inside the cave was probably about an hour, Wendy was also there to take pictures. Once out of the cenote there was amble time to shower again, dry off, relax and review the pictures Wendy had taken throughout the day before boarding the van for the return back to our hotel. The picture package is $40 USD and in my opinion totally worth every penny (you can pay cash or credit card) We received our pictures via email within 24 hours. The photos captured the amazing memories from the day. 10/10 would recommend this trip!!

The entirety of our trip was amazing! Our tour guide Paul Calmus was super knowledgable - Paul, Guille Demarchi and the entire crew were extremely friendly and made our entire experience unforgettable! (The authentic Mexican cuisine was also excellent!) There wasn't a moment in our trip that was boring and I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in knocking out multiple excursions in one day. Thank you to the entire team for an amazing experience!!!!

A few things to note -

The customer service representatives for Ocean Tours via Whats App were extremely helpful. We are staying at Bahia Principe Akumal and wanted to double check our pick up time, they responded almost immediately and verified our pick up time for 8:40am. If you're unsure of your pick up time, I would recommend doing this.

Bring a change of dry clothes and a towel. You're not permitted to apply sunscreen in order to preserve the wildlife and coral reefs, so be sure to bring long sleeve shirts to swim in to avoid being sunburnt. (They also have some for purchase for $25 US Dollars) They provide everything else you will need including snacks mid trip!

This excursions was INCREDIBLE. I would do it again in a heartbeat. The activities were all fun and the staff were friendly and kind! During the entire trip you have a photographer taking pictures as well and can pay for a package of pictures - which I recommend they are stunning! It was my first time snorkeling and the staff does a good job of explaining the equipment and making sure you feel safe and comfortable. The cenote was breathtaking and an experience I’ll never forget. I also want to give a shout out to Sofia, our guide - she was friendly, funny, and knowledgeable and made our trip that much more fantastic. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

I have mixed thoughts on this review. I thought the actual excursion was fun. The snorkeling and the cenotes were great! Our tour guide Marcela was wonderful and so was our driver Johnnie. The trip was long though altogether like 11 hours. I would not take young children on this excursion. I would rent a car and go yourself. The stops at each hotel picking up people and dropping off everyone made for a very long day. So the excursion itself I’d give it a 5 for the review. The cenote was breathtaking and the snorkeling with the turtles and stingrays was fabulous! There was a guy that took pictures while we snorkeled and he was at the cenotes. We were a party of 5. Couples were charged $40 for their pictures and we were charged $90, all reasonable for professional pictures.

There was definitely something shady going on with pictures. I saw a couple give $40 cash to the photographer guy at lunch when we were reviewing the pictures, but when they got dropped off Marcela (guide) said no, he can’t take money. (He sure did) so they paid again. We paid cash to her as well and provided our email. Several days went by and no pictures. I called, text, and WhatsApp the company several times and was very frustrated. We did finally get the pics after complaining and not giving up. I saw others on here that gave a credit card and got scammed, I’m not sure if they happened to others on our trip. I’d dispute those charges, but not sure how that works in Mexico. They sure were not giving receipts. I’d be very careful purchasing pictures on this excursion, well I would not do business with shady people, so until they fix this.. I would not do business with them. It’s really sad, because everything else was great!! Hope this helps!!
