Begin with pickup from your Cancun hotel, and travel to the archeological site of Muyil, where you’ll find ruined pyramids in the Peten style set between thick jungle and the Sian Ka’an lagoon. Learn about the lives of the ancient Maya on a guided tour of the site, then visit the surrounding jungle and wetlands as guides share local knowledge about plants and animals.
Board a boat across the Chunyaxché Lagoon, following ancient canals towards a mangrove river, and navigating into the heart of the Sian Ka’an Biosphere. This is the perfect time to spot some of the wildlife that thrives in the protected area: coatimundi sleep in the mangrove trees, crocodiles hunt and live in the lagoon, and sea turtles use the Sian Ka’an shoreline for nesting. Bird species in Sian Ka’an include frigatebirds, brown pelicans, and flamingoes, and Sian Ka’an is considered an important stop for migratory birds from around the Americas.
Come to shore at a scenic beach for lunch and drinks with a view of the Caribbean water, and soak up the sunshine far from crowds and resorts. After lunch, leave Sian Ka’an for the return trip to Cancun, where this tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.
