        Wonderful tour
Family of 3 had a great time. We booked day of and found our own transportation there and they provided our return ride. Only 2 other people were on our 3:00 tour. Great safety intro and directions. 4 cowboys came along and well as a photographer. Horses and animals were very well taken care of. We highly recommend this place!!

        Perfect Day!
Perfect Day in the Perfect Place - pony trekking through the jungle on beautiful, calm horses - Cinnamon and Aventure. Fabian was our guide and was very informative and friendly. The horses are generally retired or rescued by the team at the ranch - so we'll cared for - a sanctuary for horses. A day not to be missed - we will be back!

Unforgettable Adventure: Jungle Trek and Cenote Swim in Mexico
The jungle trek on horseback, capped off with a refreshing swim in a cenote, was an absolute highlight of our trip to Mexico. Fabian and his team were incredibly knowledgeable about the area, sharing fascinating insights that added so much to the experience. The horses were stunning and clearly cared for with great attention and love, which made the ride even more enjoyable. It was such a memorable adventure—we couldn’t stop talking about it afterward! We were also really pleased with the photos taken that documented our adventure perfectly!

        An unforgettable experience
This was a very informative and beautiful experience. If you are unfamiliar around horses, you will safe and well taken care of. We rode Garotto and Macarena through a Mexican jungle with lots of opportunities to learn about the jungle and the ranch.

        fabulous!!!
We booked an excursion at Rancho Bonanza a few months ago through TUI. My husband has never ridden a horse and I am an experienced rider. We were the only ones on our transfer bus which was prompt, comfortable and air conditioned! When we arrived, we were early which was no problem as we had a chance to see the donkeys! Michael Jackson was our favourite. Heehee! Turns out we were the only ones on our ride too which was great! Our guide, Fabian, was fabulous! He was very knowledgeable and friendly and spoke amazing english. We rode the horses Tomato and Macarena and they were very docile and friendly. It’s quite different riding in Mexico than it is in England! You can absolutely tell that the horses are very very well looked after and Fabian gave us a background story for a lot of them which was sad but also heartwarming to know how much they are being loved and cared for now! Fabian was very informative about the Mayan culture and history of the cenotes and jungle. We swam in the cenote too which was a lovely experience and very refreshing! We tried some Mayan gum and honey too which was a lovely touch. All in all, we had a wonderful time and would recommend this trip 100%!

        Must Do!
Such a good experience! Fabián was a great guide and provided great detail on what to expect, education on horse riding and explaining the ecosystem. You can tell the staff take pride in what they do. They're mindful of the horses personalities and take their past into account. The cenote was such a fun experience too and was at the end of horse back riding so we could cool off. Paparazzi (Orlando) was all over getting pictures of us riding in the jungle. Getting to see all the animals they care for was such a great experience with maya their dog, and tequila the goat standing out the most. 20/10 experience, and would absolutely do this again if we are in Playa del Carmen.

This was an amazing experience. Fabian was a great guide. Paula was also great. The horses were so gentle. The forest was very inviting. And Orlando took great photos. The whole experience was the BEST! Plus they rescue the animals to give them a second chance in life.

Perfect Morning at a farm sanctuary.
What an amazing morning with Fabian and the horses. I rode Rosita. We spent time with dogs, donkeys, peacocks, goats and , of course, horses. I couldn’t be happier with how today went. The whole crew here at Rancho Bonanza was amazing. They took such good care of us. This is something different to do in Mayan riviera and it’s so worth it! I love that this is a farm sanctuary. What these guys do for the animals is so special.

        Had the best time
Had such an awesome experience at the ranch! Everyone was so kind and helpful, Fabian was our guide and taught us a lot about the land as well as its history. It was my first time riding so they gave me a great horse for beginners named Cinnamon. Swimming in the cenotes was also really neat. If you plan on going I’d recommend bringing goggles so you can see the fish under water! Highly recommended experience

We were incredibly lucky to have Fabian as our guide on a horseback riding tour through the forest
and we couldn't be more grateful for the experience. From the beginning, his kindness and professionalism made us feel in the best hands. Not only did he prove to be an expert and responsible guide, making sure the whole group was comfortable and safe at all times, but he also gave us a fascinating explanation about Mayan culture and its history, enriching every moment of the tour with his deep knowledge.

His passion for what he does is evident, as he not only limited himself to guiding us, but really took the time to answer our questions, share anecdotes and teach us about the flora and fauna of the place. In addition, her patience and attention to detail made the experience even more special.

If someone is looking for an unforgettable adventure, with a guide who really cares about making every moment something unique, we definitely recommend Fabian. Thank you for your dedication and for making this ride an unforgettable experience!

This was a genuinely authentic and refreshing experience for us both. This was my first time riding a horse and they gave me the "lazy" Tomate who liked to slow down a lot, but all of the horses were well behaved and well tempered. My other half had cinnamon who was a little sassier but also well tempered mostly.

It was well informative and it appeared to be setting us up to buy lots of "souvenirs" like honey and gum but then there was no push for this at the end (in fact wasn't even mentioned, although one member of our group did buy some honey).

The staff genuinely love their job and love their horses so we were happy to tip and pay for our photos (for the price you'd expect physical photos rather than them emailed to you though). On that note it seemed somewhat as if the prices were made up on the spot and different for different people, some charged $60 US for 2 people and 80 for 3 people, it didn't seem to add up to any form of fixed pricing (and there was no price list). That was the only the slightest part that was misleading and should be improved.

I’ve had the best morning tour with these guys! Everything was very organised and seamless, I simply had to enjoy. We were originally a group of seven but as three of us were experienced riders and the other four were beginners, we went in two groups. I’ve had the pleasure of riding Julio and have been extremely happy with this sweet boy. Our guide Paula told us a lot about Mayan culture and the history of the ranch throughout the ride, always in a fun entertaining way that made it really easy to listen to her. We took a short break halfway through the ride so the horses could rest a little, which I really appreciated. Throughout the entire experience and my stay on the ranch I could really feel how the workers and the team truly care for all the animals on site. They’re all rescues, from the horses to the dogs and donkeys, and each animal is being treated with respect and the time it needs to adjust. During the ride there was always on cowboy per guest, so in case you would feel a little wary they would’ve gotten off their horse to lead you for as long as you need. After the ride we had the chance to enjoy a swim in the cenote on the ranch, towels are being provided. If you don’t feel like going for a swim, they’ll take you around the ranch to tell you about the animals and their stories. I have been riding for 16+ years and can wholeheartedly recommend the Bonanza Ranch for a ride, where one can be sure that the horses aren’t just used as a tourist attraction!

We loved the activity- it started on time and it was extremely well organized. Small groups, we had so much attention from the tour guides, who shared a lot of local knowledge and interesting chats with us. We had a beginner rider and a medium level rider, and we were paired with horses that behaved perfectly while being very cute. All the animals in the facility are rescues, and we got to talk about their histories and personalities with the guides. Everyone was incredible. Funny, friendly, and super accommodating of us. They got beautiful photos which we purchased without a second thought. The denote was gorgeous, and we happened to be swimming alone, so it was romantic and a fantastic experience. Bonus points: there were two lovely resident dogs we got to pet!!! 100/10!

Me and my mom had a great time with our tour guide Paula!! As a first time rider she made us feel safe & educated on how to guide our horses. We had a great time on the trail with our horses and then went for a swim in the Cenote! We also got tons of pictures taken as well as snacks & drinks. 10/10 recommended. Thank you Paula!

Rancho Bonanza was the biggest unexpected treat of our last vacation. We were staying next door at Generations Riviera Maya, and decided to check out the “jungle tour” we heard about from our concierge. Turns out that description doesn’t really do justice to the experience.

What we discovered is that the “tour” is really a horseback ride through the private grounds of the El Dorado hotels. This is the vast area that stretches from the main road to the hotel buildings themselves, which line the beach. In other words, it’s the front yard. Except the front yard is part of the massive Mayan rainforest.

I have been coming to this area of Mexico for over 20 years, and have stayed at El Dorado Royale many times. But it was a complete surprise to find out that they have such beautiful grounds. These include cenotes, which are naturally occurring sinkholes in the limestone. They are connected to underground water networks that seep through the stone.

At Rancho Bonanza you have the opportunity to ride out through the jungle, and then cool off in a cenote. What an amazing experience!

The staff who guided our tour: Lilly and Paula were awesome. Paula was both knowledgeable and engaging in her presentations about the cenotes and the local flora. She included storytelling and information about the Mayan way of life. We even got to sample some naturally-made chewing gum made from tree sap!

Of course the true stars of the experiences are the horses. Most have been rescued from the racing industry or farm labour, and some from the meat market. They were a bit larger and in much better condition than the other horses I have ridden in the tropics. Each person was asked about their level of experience: novice, intermediate, or expert.

As an intermediate rider I was given a horse with a bit of attitude. But after a little while in the saddle, Capriccio was very well-behaved and responsive. My wife’s horse Macarena was a definite princess who required lots of attention. But there were so many staff riding along with us, that they immediately attended to her. When Macarena lost a shoe, they were right there to help. It was a Cinderella story.

On the whole I would highly recommend taking a half-day during your holiday to enjoy Rancho Bonanza. You will come away feeling richer for having experienced something of the true beauty of the Mayan Riviera.

The tour was fantastic. They were accommodating and helpful regardless of your past experience with horses. They had multiple staff members on the ride to help should the need arise.
On the tour, there was also very interesting Mayan history and stories shared that really added to the experience.
At the end, the cenote was beautiful and was great for a quick swim and photos.
As a side note, all the horses are rescues and the cost of the trip is what pays for the ranch to continue operations and provide for the animals. I thought that was a really cool mission and made the cost feel like it was for a good cause.

Overall, the trip was 100% worth it and I would highly recommended it to anyone, whether or not it's your first time or one hundredth time on a horse.

This ranch is amazing! I'm always a little nervous riding in new places, not knowing how they treat the horses. All of the horses and other animals on the ranch are exceptionally well carried for. In fact, most are rescued and rehabbed, which I absolutely loved supporting! The guides were extremely knowledgeable about the jungle and culture as well as their horses and gave so much fun information about all. I would recommend this to any level rider as a wonderful experience that I will repeat anytime we return to the area.

All guides were amazing and shared great info about the ecosystems, wildlife, and Mayan lore. Super interesting and everyone was overly accommodating. Our guide Favien was incredible! We ended up having an unplanned private tour because the weather wasn’t great so I’m assuming others cancelled or rescheduled. We didn’t mind riding in the rain because you were covered by the trees the majority of the time. They seemed to really love what they do and care about all of the animals there. Very cool to hear about the horses backgrounds and where they came from to be rehabilitated. We rode for roughly 45 minutes with about a ten minute break to let the horses rest. While they rested, we got to learn about cenotes and some of the important trees in the area. After riding, we got to have a private swim in the cenote which was amazing. Very refreshing and beautiful! They offered water and other non-alc beverages while we were there. Would highly recommend for anyone interested in horseback riding because you get a bit of everything while you’re there. Thanks again!

Fabin did a great job leading our group and sharing the story of the Rancho Bonanza. I was able to ride Tomato, it’s great to hear of these guys taking care of injured horse and bringing them back to life. The story of the two trees and princess was intriguing, the jungle beautiful and the horse were all well mannered and taught.
