We booked the all-day excursion from our resort (Secrets Akumal) through the same company that we had our airport transfer through (Lomas Travel, rep on-site at resort). The pick up time was early (to be expected), and the Grupo Xcaret staff on the bus was cheery and helpful. She explained things and what to expect well.
Purchasing additional activities was easy at the drop-off. **TIP: if you get the photo package, don't forget to take a picture of your receipt with your login code, just in case you lose the receipt (like I did; I'm working through that now).
Wear comfortable walking shoes/sandals/water shoes, etc. Just like any theme/water park, you will have to walk from place to place. Lots to see and do, fun for literally everyone! And the fact that all food and drink, life jackets (mandatory for all to wear while in the water), goggles/snorkel/flippers are included is pretty amazing! **TIP: you CAN bring in your own snorkel gear, which I recommend.
There are also spots to sit and sunbathe with stairs/water access, and also lots of hammocks to catch a quick snooze (also recommend!). I hope to come back again in the future with the kiddos :)

2nd time going to Xel-Ha. Easy booking. On-time pickup at our hotel (Moon Palace). Took about 90 min to travel, guide detailed all that’s offered at Xel-Ha. He spoke fine English and Spanish. Offered the ability to buy a cell phone water case in case you forgot yours at a buy 1, get one 1/2 off on the bus. Spent a fabulous day at the park. Followed guides initial directions to pick up location and was then directed to our bus for return. Lots of traffic on way home (hint, pack a snack/power bar or eat food right before departing park). Dropped us off at hotel after stopping at other guest hotels too. It’s a well oiled machine, go with the flow and you’ll have a great time with no issues.
Will book again next Thanksgiving trip!

SO SO GOOD!!
if you’re thinking about doing this and enjoy swimming, snorkelling, zip lines, big slides and beautiful scenery you should definitely book this.
We did the dolphins and park. This included our bus ride and all food and drink.
The dolphin part was great. It’s been on my bucket list since I was small and chose this park specifically due to the accreditation’s Delphinus has to do with animal welfare and treatment. The dolphins seem very happy and are just like puppy’s, willing to do tricks for treats. I will say however, the dolphin experience seemed very commercialised. All of it was done for the purpose of photos which we weren’t bothered about, I went for the experience. After, when we said we didn’t want photos a lady came rushing out to offer us discount - we ended up saying yes to 2 digital photos for $10 instead of $200 for the whole lot (albeit printed etc). So my advice would be to say no until they offer the price you’re willing to pay!
Dolphins were the cherry on the cake, there was so much to do in Xel ha so if you don’t do dolphins don’t feel you’ve missed out. The snorkelling in caves and the mini cenotes were a personal fave, but the absolute best part was the snorkel river with the mangroves next to the tubing. This was honestly incredible, crystal waters, but no fish.
The best spot for snorkelling is definitely under the big tap or next to any of the rocks in the middle of the water.
I would recommend this to all my friends visiting Mexico. Food, drink and towels are included.
The only negative I would say is we wanted more time, we felt a little rushed. This was because we were on the other side of the park when it was lunch time so we had to walk back to eat then walk back again to where we’d last been. Maybe a restaurant on the other side of the park would be good for this.

Very disappointed in this trip.
It cost over £160 for the day for two of us and when we arrived there was no direction or instruction on where to go or what to do from the bus dropping us at the front.
When we finally worked out where the entrance was we discovered that about 90% of experiences were to be payed for.
You’ll wait at least 40 mins queued on the steps of the slide to go down it.
And the food wasn’t great.
I have absolutely no idea what benefits the ‘priority’ pass gave us.
Given you are there from 8a.m til 6p.m id do some research before booking this trip.

Dear Gary,
Thank you for your comments.
We're sorry to hear that your experience in our natural park didn't meet your expectations. Let us share with you that Xel-Há Park has more than 20 activities included in the regular admission such as unlimited snorkeling in the natural inlet, zip-lines, cenotes, Mayan caves, Jungle Trails, huge slides, The Scenic Lighthouse, suspended ropes over the river, The Meliponary, bike rides through jungle, cliff jumping, The Floating Bridge and more. Certainly we offer extraordinary activities, which are optionals and they're not included due to their high logistic maintenance cost, in addition to being more personalized experiences with a limited capacity. We don't include them in the admission in order to keep the entry price as accessible as possible.
The priority pass gives you quick access to our facilities since it's not necessary to go through the ticket office as the regular admissions. Besides, we have 3 specialty restaurants available with a wide variety of dishes designed to cover different tastes such as Mexican food, international food, grill, snacks, vegan food, desserts and unlimited alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages during your visit.
You can be sure that we'll take your opinion into consideration in order to keep innovating and improving our experiences.
Kind regards.

Don’t go unless your hotel is close.
We talked to several different companies selling tickets before booking and no one mentioned the fact that there is ongoing construction on the highway.
We were stuck on the bus for 4 hours on what should have been 1.5 hr trip
As I’m writing this we are 2.5 hrs into the trip back and still saying 1.5hrs away
We were told Xel-Há would compensate us by giving a discount on other paid services which we did use, but didn’t amount to anything in the big picture of losing almost half our time at the excursion and losing an entire evening at our hotel.
They knew about the massive delay.
Xel-ha was a cool destination but was packed and felt like cattle being pushed thru pens.
Eric at the sting rays was awsome as well as the guy at the manitees.

Dear Steven,
Thank you so much for visiting Xel-Há!
We'd like to share with you that we are constantly working on optimizing the transport times in all our services. Some factors such as the distance from a hotel to the park, the traffic, constructions or even the weather affect the transfer times. Certainly, we recommend staying in hotels near the parks to speed up transportation times when our visitors contact us through our Reservation Center.
Even so, you can be sure that your feedback will be taken into consideration in order to keep improving and innovating our experiences. We hope to see you again soon!
Kind regards.

Very good day out, loads to see and do with two young children 7 and 5. We paid extra for the dolphin and stingray experience. Unfortunately we ran out of time to go on the water slides which close before the park at 5pm. All inclusive food and drinks were good. There are two negatives and opportunities for improvement and one serious complaint.
One whilst paying for the extras I couldn’t pay in dollars only pesos which didn’t make sense as we could in the store. I wanted to use a pre paid travel money card but couldn’t so had to use Apple Pay so I expect to be stung on the exchange.
On the transportation I was requested to wear a face covering which I declined for medical reasons, Isabell said I’d have to sign a form which I did, she then rang her boss an insisted I wear one or I would be refused entry to the park. I tried to explain why request, then ask for a form and then threaten with the removing service.
When leaving the bus I was greeted by Michelle the boss who was extremely rude and would listen to my view and told me I didn’t understand that it’s a pandemic. She then told me it’s her boss who makes the rules. I told her that unless we stand up for our freedoms and stop these rules then tourism will continue to suffer.
It’s ridiculous to insist on face coverings which don’t work, in the park it’s also ridiculous and as the day went on less and less people were wearing them. I guess Ovid goes away after lunch.
What is more ridiculous is that I didn’t have to wear a mask on my return transfer due to the distinct lack of a Karen!
Wake up and start putting customers first.

Dear visitor,
Thank you so much for visiting Xel-Ha!
We are really thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the Dolphin and Stingray Encounter activity. We are very sorry that your perception of some members of our staff attitude hasn't been the best in your last visit. What you mention without a doubt is far from our standards of service. Nevertheless, part of our protocols request the use of facemask during your visit to any of Grupo Xcaret's parks in order to guarantee the well-being of all visitors. We are sorry to hear that you do not agree with our safety protocols.
In order to better address to you message, we have sent your comments to the corresponding department and you can rest assured that we will take all the necessary measures to strength our customer service skills with all the staff.

Xel-Ha was a nice park. The restaurants are amazing. So much variety of foods and service is great. The snorkeling area is big and beautiful. Bring reef safe sun screen otherwise it will be confiscated at the entrance! I DO NOT recommend the sea trek activities for children! The helmet was falling off my 9 year old son and water was getting in. Can be quite scary for kiddos. I recommend getting to the park extremely early as the park does get super packed and it’s less enjoyable. It was a bummer that all the fun activities were not included and you had to pay 74 per person per activity. I don’t think I’ll come to this park again. Staff was quite rude.

Dear Rose,
Thank you so much for your visit!
It's great to know that you enjoyed the snorkeling in our beautiful inlet and we're glad to hear that the buffet meal met your expectations. It's important to mention that the Sea Trek activity requires a minimum age of 8 years old and it's essential to try on the helmet and make sure that fits well before diving into the water. In case there's an inconvenience with the helmet, it will be necessary to notify the guides.
Certainly we offer extraordinary activities, which are optionals and they're not included due to their high logistic maintenance cost, in addition to being more personalized experiences with a limited capacity. We don't include them in the admission in order to keep the entry price as accessible as possible. Even so, there's more than 20 activities included in the regular admission. We're really sorry to hear that your experience in our park wasn't the best. However, you can be sure that we'll take your comments and feedback into consideration in order to keep improving our experiences.
We hope you give us a second chance and visit us again soon!

We loved this place so much back in 2016 we came back in 2021. It has not changed much since our last visit except some newly added bus and tour drop off area. The park was crowded much more this time then our last visit and we went on a Tuesday. I cant imagine how bad it gets on a weekend. I recommend bringing your own snorkel gear as the gear they charge you for is $25 and of low quality. The food and regular beverage is all inclusive but it is just average not that great. The line when you want to eat is long. At least 45 minutes to over an 1 hour depending on when you try to eat. I love the mangrove tubes and snorkel. The best spot to see sea life underwater is over by the inlet by the water spout by the island rocks. This is just around the bend of the area where they offer the snuba. Found a huge stingray by the snuba area. There is a lot to see and a lot you can do. I dont recommend this for children under age 5. If you want to enjoy yourself make this a trip with older kids like teenager age, bringing kids under age 10 is just not going to be fun. The activities are for older kids and adults NOT little ones. Honestly, I dont think the park should allow kids under age 5 as a safety issue. After all it is a water park in the ocean.

Fun for teens and adults. Lots to do and see. We took shuttle service from resort. Picked us up at 7am but park doesn't open til 8:30 and no food untill 9:30 so huge lines once food opened... would be better to open at park entrance so could trickle in as people arrive. Lazy river through mangrove trees, cliff jumping, ziplines, snorkeling. Lots of fun without paying for extras.

The park is huge, so wear comfortable shoes or sandals. They have lockers for about 400 or more people, lockers and towels included in admission. The food and drinks are also included in admission, and the service was very efficient. The greeter had several people seating visitors at tables, and waiters brought drinks really fast. Cafeteria style with about 10 different stations, so almost no wait to serve yourself. The food was good cafeteria-style food. Pasta, chicken mole, lots of fruit, rice, beans, chips.
However, the snorkeling was disappointing. The water was not crowded, because it is spacious, but there were a lot of people in it. We saw no fish except one little barracuda. The lazy river wasn’t so lazy because the single inner tubes were not designed for (mandatory) life jackets, and were over-inflated. We kept tipping forward and to grab the handles to keep from falling out. The two person tubes seemed better. To get to the lazy river was a half hour walk if you walked fast. Or you could walk for 15 minutes to a tram that took you close. We were tired by the time we finally got there on the tram.
Also, we had to do the dolphin encounter immediately after our van arrived and we got our swimsuits on. No choice. When we saw the dolphin tank, we were shocked at how small it was, and we decided not to do it, even though it was included in our admission with the Go Card. We ended up just swimming around. We didn’t want to pay for any of the extra activities, given how lame the free ones were.
When I made the reservation, the person wouldn’t tell me when the van would return to Cancun. I kept asking, and she kept saying, ‘the driver will let you know.’ Turns out that the van was leaving at 5:30, so we took a taxi back to Cancun at 4:00 for $80 since we were exhausted and didn’t have anything else we wanted to do. Also, we had an evening tour with a 6:15 pickup that we would have missed. The van picked us up at our hotel in the Hotel zone at 7:35 AM and got to the park around 10:00. Leaving at 5:30 makes a 12 hour day by the time you get back to your hotel.

The only zip line I did was what they offered for free, you go off the platform and you end up in the water. Not a long zip line.
