Amazing tour guide, service, and caves
We had an amazing time in the caves. The service at the place was impeccable, the cave exploring was one of the best, and at the end we had some tequila shots

        Great experience
This was second time on this tour. Everything went great they picked us up at our hotel and we went to the cave. The staff at the cave was so helpful and friendly. The cave was spectacular and so fun to float in parts. The buffet lunch was delicious.

A fun adventure with amazing staff
We had so much fun on the tour we did...quadbiking, ziplines and then a swim in a cenote. CJ was the most patient understanding and informative guide ever...thank you for an amazing time!

        It was fun and overhyped
We got the gold pass as it got us seats and an elevated view. We'll I'd say save your money as there were no seats availible which was a disappointment. It was very hot up there and rammed! The bar service was ok, the drinks were ok. XXX Beer and some no-name tequilla. We left there as it was so hot and rammed and went to the main level to go get the sliders and fries that were included in the ticket. It was hard to get to the area to get your burger as it was again rammed. The shows were really good, was it worth what we paid? I don't think so. I've been there, seen it, and likely would not go there again! Not impressed we paid extra and didn't get to utilize whatever paid extra for.

Very wonderful excursion to take while staying at Hard Rock Riviera Maya
This is my second visit to Rio Secreto Cenote. My family was staying at Hard Rock riviera Maya. The excursion was well organized. Our guide was Danny, he was very good and my grandchildren loved the scientific explorations during the excursion. They had fun swimming through the underground pools in the Cenote. You did have to buy their photos if you wanted keepsakes of the experience but it was worth it.

        Photo Scam
Experience was great but they scam you with photos at the end. First you're not allowed to take your phone or camera. They tell you they have an 'expert' photographer taking pictures of the experience. This expert is using regular camera with stock lense. In the end of the excursion they try to charge you 30$ for one picture! Or 120$ for the whole set which is about 75 pics out of which only about 5 were good. My wife and daughter post lots of pics on social media and I like to show off pics to guests on my TV. Unfortunately we won't have any pics to share or remember this experience.

Rio secreto is a must visit if u r near palaya de carman area in mexico. We booked our tour via sunwing and our guide NAOMI was amazing. She is very knowledgeable and kind. She explains everything in detail and was very patient as i did not know swimming. She was very kind to help me float in the caves. I recommend book plus tour that’s worth ur money

        NOT GOOD FOR KIDS
This was a miserable experience for my 7-year-old. The water was way too cold for him, but there was no way to turn back once we got to the cave. So he had to spend more than an hour shivering and crying while swimming around sharp rocks in a dark cave. And after it was over, our guide got mad at us when we skipped the overly air-conditioned photo-viewing room and went straight to the warmer eating area (food was lousy). He learned the phrase "stink-eye" after seeing how the guide looked at our group. I know we were a difficult bunch, but one would hope they would make allowances for a seven-year-old boy. No such luck. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

        Nice cave but no pictures
This was a very cool tour with a real underground cave experience. However I had a really big issue! We were not allowed to take our own pictures, and the pictures you see posted which are the same as every one else, have to be purchased for $30 each. This would still be fine, if my pictures were crap quality, many of them a branch was blocking face. This completely ruined my experience because I wasn’t told about this before. I was impressed with the tour, Leslie our guide was great, but the only memories I will have are about the sadness of not having memories.

Awesome experience with Diana as a terrific guide. I suggest that all who visit take this excursion. The water was a bit cold and putting on the wet suit was a challenge but fun on putting it on…..

        Amazing experience
This tour was so incredibly fun. The staff could not be any nicer. They were so amazing, super funny, very welcoming and made you feel so safe. The zip lining was so much fun and the cenote was beautiful; the food was great as well. We had the best tour guide. He and his crew were beyond great!!

        A wonderful challenge!!
My husband and I absolutely loved the tour of Rio Secreto. Our guide, "David" was fantastic and told us so much about the history of the cave and included info on the Mayan culture. If you are extremely tall, or are physically challenged, this may not be the tour for you. There is a section of the underground river where the space between the ceiling and the cave bottom is maybe 3ft. and nothing more. We loved the quiet and darkness in the cave. As I am 68 and overweight, I found it somewhat difficult to navigate over the rocks underfoot. But David guided me through and kept telling me to walk where he had shown the flashlight. Although I was quite dehydrated after about 2-hours in the cave, with David's help I made it. Be aware that no food or drinks are permitted in the cave.

All Things considered It Has Potential to Be a Great Day Out.
What great expectations we had for the day. Pick up from hotel On Time 06.45:) Unfortunately B/Fast is at 07.00. So organised with Chef Night before, to grab Danish and a bit of fruit at 06.35, no such luck. Waiter insistent on B/Fast is 07.00 and NOT before, after 5 mins of back and forth left empty handed and relied on "All Night Bar" fridge (got 2 rather soft and partially soggy cheese and ham rolls and 2 rather sad bananas). Needless to say Waiter reported on return and Day did Not start well. Travel to Cancum disrupted by Large Lorry overturning and spilling load of Rock and Stones, Delay 35 mins. At least we had a giggle at motorbikes/scooters that had squeezed through returning (The wrong way) 10 mins later:) even the Mexican driver had a smile although its normal. Damien, our Guide for the day. was Brilliant from the outset. Hers French, married to a Mexican lady who is the spitting image of Cher (When she was 30) living and working in Cancum, Dive Master, Photographer, general all Round " Bon Oeuf". Loads of Info and safety brief to take in, Basically NO SUN Products at all during visit to Contoy (its an Eco Park) & Life Vest MUST be worn on the boat. Can give Chat in 6 Languages fluently:) Arrived at Marina for refreshments (Coffee, Tea, cake, water or juice) and a ciggy as this last opportunity for a smoke for 5Hrs (Not a prob). Boat left with us all wearing our Vests:). Intro to Boat crew. and we sped off with 4 Very large outboard engines at the back making it an exciting trip out:) Saw several Sea Turtles on way to Contay and overtook numerous "Lesser" crafts. Contoy is Beautiful, dominated by a rather tall Guard/Watch Tower. Beach is pristine, water clear and marine life abundant (if u don't like smaller shoal of fish swimming around you - DONT go in the water) :). Dont Pick up, |Touch or remove anything u will get Told Off. Lunch was simple but very tasty (Cooked by Crew) : fresh fish, Chicken, salad, rice and Taco Chips LOTS of it with Juice/water or Beer. Watched by local wild life. Back on the boat and onwards to Coral reef for snorkelling, Yay:) Warned about possible strong currents, so if not a strong swimmer don't do it, I'm PADI Trained and have done a LOT of snorkelling in my time. Arrived at Barrier Reef with Waves rolling over them and boat swaying in the current, issued life vest snorkels and masked, Dropped into Choppy waters, turned and followed our guide as instructed, Got 25 yds and had to turn back, the current was seriously strong :( during our stay on Reef 4 others turned back. On the return of Damien and the stalwarts who "saw it through", it was reported "There was not a lot to see, because of the strong winds and currents crashing around the reef" Only last week it was like a Mill Pond soooo Calm and an abundance of things to see, REALLY!!!! Onwards to Mujeres, Fast 15 min trip from Reef. Arrived at Jetty, told to remember which Jetty as there are 50 identical ones, Remember "The Black Pearl" Bar and u wont have a problem. The bar is 25yds wide and has 2 Jetties???? Hey Ho. Off to first bar for a deserved drink NO SUCH LUCK as it was "Election Day" and drinks only served if you Order food, We had just eaten an hour ago and were stuffed. So off to find another venue that did serve you, the Local Pharmacy which Not only Provides Cold drinks but also a variety of "UK Prescription Drugs" so i was informed by the helpful lady:) The place was Rammed and you could hardly move, so we found a shady area on the main street and watched the endless "Anti Terrorist" 4 x 4's Vehs, heavily armed with 5 up in back and 3 in front doing their patrols, 1 Hr of my life i will not be getting back. On return to "TBP" we are offered jetty 2 or 3:) We choose 2 and actually our boat which had gone to refuel came in on jetty 3, typically. There is an exit and and entry to Jetty 3, (NOT Marked i may add). we got to the boat and we are asked to go back along jetty for 5 mins as crew not ready, of course we comply and head back along the jetty The wrong way and are ushered off the jetty by some Officious bureaucrat with loads of gesticulations so we exited and re-entered jetty the correct way and 5 mins later were on our boat heading home. Disembark from Boat, quick Ciggy and toilet Break then on to Bus. Trip Back to hotel was shortened by Stories and Mobile Phone Photos from Damien, He has a great life on the Mexican Caribbean coast, as he says he could be elsewhere earning more money but have so much more stress. All the best for the future. That was it Left at 06.45 got back 17.30 Sadly only 1/3rd of the trip delivered, NOT due to anything Damien or crew did wrong but just down to Bad timing and weather conditions. At least it was hot and Lunch was really nice :)

        A must Do
Firstly, the lift was no way close to 30 minutes - realistically 15 minutes which is secondly, okay. It’s a lull not a thriller but enjoyable all the same. The crew works for tips, offer bottled water, and snap photos. Definitely a must do while in Cancun.

The tulum tour doesn’t give you a sandwich IN THE BUS. BRING SOME SNACKS.

It’s very hot with our mask.

They give you a bottle of water before the tulum tour. It was nice but OMG very humid with our mask 🤩🤩

We did snorkelling, tubing, train ride 😆😆( it’s a truck). Cenotes are amazing.

Amazing day but super tired 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

After reading reviews and had a bunch of questions ready if we should buy this package from the official sales persons in cancun office.
      - Is this a direct bus line or are we going to stop - no you have no stops. WRONG! Stopped for picking up people at hotels and also at their bus center where they moved people around to their specific bus transfers. So the transfer took 45 minutes more than promised.

The seond complain is from Tulum bus transfer. In the bus the guide mentioned 3-4 times that the bus will go exactly 12:00 to XelHA. Not a minute later. So we were of course in time, but after been waiting in the bus after 12 I'm asking the guide why are we waiting.. the time has passed 15 minutes ago...I must ask my supervisor if I can leave even if we are missing passengers. I would say the tour company had no respect for us that we should get less time at XelHa...

Conclusion - Don't trust what ever the tour company are saying when buying tickets !!

Both Tulum and XelHa are intressting "parks" to visit. Tulum is depending of the guide you get. IN our case we had a good guide. The most annoying was that it was crowded and it where sometimes 4-5 guides talking at the same time at the specific ruin..
XelHa wasn't that crowded and we had a good time. Think there was no real difference for the buffe's. The buffe's was well maintend and fresh all the time...

I would go again to both places but use a rental car instead to get away from the tour operator...

I hate to give anything less than 4-stars, but it's important to be transparent. Tulum and Xel-Ha are wonderful on their own, but together, there's just too much to see and do in one day. If you book this combo, I would suggest NOT signing up for any additional activities that aren't included (i.e. swimming with dolphins, zip bike, sting rays, etc.) only because lack of time to get the most out of the Xel-Ha park. If you really want to, I would go with only your top choice.

The morning is spend at Tulum and it's absolutely gorgeous, but somewhat crowded. You don't even get to Xel-Ha until 12:00PM-12:15. By the time you get to the park, get the run down from the tour guides, purchase additional activities, purchase a photo pack if you want, etc. it's already around 1:15PM-1:30PM and you only have until 5:45PM before you have to leave. So around 1:30 you still have to account for changing clothes, getting a locker, and eating lunch. Then you really only have a couple hours to enjoy the countless activities the park has to offer. It feels rushed, and in my opinion Tulum and Xel-Ha are each so incredible on their own that they warrant a full day to themselves.

We booked swimming with dolphins at 2:30, had to show up at 2:10 and weren't finished until 3:30 because of pictures afterwards. We had to be at the zip bike all the way across the park by 3:40 and when we finally got on the zip bikes, my friend got stuck and my radio didn't work so I had to leave her and finish the course myself to tell one of the workers to go help her.

In the end, I would definitely go back to Xel-Ha beacuse we technically only got to eat at the buffet, swim with dolphins and do the zip bike. We didn't get to enjoy snorkeling, zip lines, cliff jumps, lighthouse scenes, etc, so I'd love to go back and get to do all of those things. The swimming with dolphins was TOTALLY worth it though, it was a highlight for sure, just wish we got more time at the park to feel like we got our money's worth.

Extremely hot and there is a serious seaweed problem along the coast making it impossible to swim and odor is terrible. Rather than the Xel-Ha trip we took the bus from Playa de Carmen station for less than $10 dollars US and the entry fee is very small to get into the park. There are white buses to take you back for a small amount. Two of us did the entire day in Tulum for less than $30 US

This was an amazing day excursion from our hotel on Riviera de Maya. We were collected by minibus at 7.30am and after a couple more collections from hotels were taken to Xel-Ha by 8.15am. Some people went straight into the park, others like us on another bus for about 15 minutes to the archaeological site at Tulum where we had a 1 hour tour of the ruined, walled Mayan city next to a fabulous beach. Upon arrival there we were provided with a free bottle of water and lanyard to carry it with, which we got to keep as a souvenir. Our driver Cesar and guide Jesus were both excellente! We had some free time to explore by ourselves before rejoining our bus back to Xel-Ha at 11am.

Arriving at the park c11.30am we learned that all our food, drink (including alcoholic drinks), lockers, snorkelling gear, life jackets, towels were included which was great. The snorkelling around the natural river and inlet to the sea was fantastic with lots of different kinds of fish and places to explore. For the energetic and adventurous there were zip lines into the water, a lighthouse with slide-tubes wrapped around it and the ability to interact with Dolphins and Manatees. This would make a day out alone, but we also we chose to purchase a couple of the extras - zip bike through the jungle and sea trek using a modern version of the old divers helmet and also the photo package. I'd particularly recommend the photo package as you have a wrist band which you scan at various places around the park to take photographs of yourself or your group. There are also a number of roving cameramen on land and in the sea/river who also take photos, including underwater photos, and they are included in your package. The only exception is Dolphin photos, for which I suspect there is an extra charge. The quality of the photos which you can download in about 24 hours (available for 20 days after your visit) was superb, far better than we could have taken ourselves. The zip bike through the jungle, over water, through a connote (underground river) experience was unique, and the sea trek amazing, with lots of fish and sting rays playing with the divers who accompany you, and they came so close that you could even touch them.

So what about the "free food and drink"? Wow, something for everyone, with three different restaurants offering all you can eat buffets, though banquets might be a better term. No shortage of quality or quantity anywhere. As the warm rain arrived c4pm they were very busy, but queues to enter the restaurants were short, only a couple of minutes wait, and the staff extremely efficient in seating you and clearing tables.

The park closed at 6pm so after visiting the reasonably priced gift shop we returned to the entrance at about 5.45pm where staff guided us back to the right bus to return us to our hotel. With thousands of people doing the same thing it could have been chaos, but it wasn't. There were plenty of staff to guide us to the right bus and shortly after 6pm the buses departed as planned. No great queues of them to exit the park, and we were back in our hotel by 7pm.

This was a truly Impressive excursion.

Me and bunch of my buddies staying at resort in Cancun decided to take a day trip to Tulum and Xel-Ha. We booked the tour with a local tour operator. The bus ride was relatively long drive. Tulum is a beautiful Mayan ruin located right on a cliff by beach.
Looked gorgeous with blue, turquoise water of Caribbean in the background. Then
we were bused to Xel-ha which is a mostly natural lagoon /water amusement park.
We were given lunch which was pretty good then spent the rest of the day in the water snorkeling around the entire park. It was awesome to see so many different tropical fishes. All in all one great and memorable time!

The highlight of this trip is the Cenote.. Tulum is interesting if you have a guide who is knowledgeable of the history of the Maya. MIne said that iI should take the pictures and then research them. The snorkeling is interesting specifically if you have young children, the water is not that deep and its safe to see big fish.

My husband and I recently booked this tour through Amstar. It took us a while to get to Tulum because the bus picked up many passengers, and then we stopped at a transfer center to get on another bus to go to Tulum. Once we were at Tulum, we were glad we went because it's a beautiful site and definitely worth seeing. Still, it was very hot, and the guide didn't tell us much about the Mayan ruins. I read more about them on my own.

Then we went to Xel-Ha by around 12:30 pm and did some snorkeling, but we had to stay until the park closed at 6 pm. During that time, we snorkeled, ate, and lounged by the beach, yet to stay here for 5 1/2 hours was a long time. Food is okay at the park but nothing to praise.

By the time we returned to our hotel, it was 8:30 pm. So we had a 13 hour day, not an 8 hour day. 6:50 am pick up and 8:30 pm return. That's one long day. In hindsight, I should have found a better tour and probably done a half-day at Tulum and a separate all-day snorkeling trip. Just be aware of the amount of time taken by bus transfers and the time you have to stay at Xel-Ha. Xel-Ha is fun, but for 5 1/2 hours?

We were picked up in Cancun, taken to a transfer station to connect with another bus leaving for Tulum. The buses were very nice and comfortable. Thew trip to Tulum is 1.5 hours, once there we had a walk through some of the market shops to get to the shuttle carriages that took us to the ruins (the cost was included in our tickets) I would recommend keeping an eye on the time as we didn't have much free time at Tulum after the guided tour and some people missed the shuttle back to the bus with one guy passing out on board from heatstroke after running all the way back!
Tulum itself was a nice enough scene not as brilliant as some of the other ruins, however the many iguanas and coati were fun to watch and lifted way overall score of Tulum.

Once back on the bus we headed for Xel- Ha, once there it was a bit confusing as to the extra things we could do and book. My friend and I head straight to the booking kiosk and booked a swim with the manatees and the photo package option. Around the park they have conveniently placed cameras which you can swipe to take images of you including in the water. This meant we didn't have to carry our cameras around with us. There are also lockers and many towel stations all over the venue.

The manatees were an absolute highlight, we also did the underwater walk which wasn't much better than the free snorkelling however the photos taken down there were also great.
We rode the bikes up along the jungle path, did some snorkelling and ate at the restaurants which was all inclusive including the drinks.

I would have loved another day at Xel-Ha as I really think there is too much for a half day to enjoy the full offering of the park.

I'd love to return with my kids but spend at least 2 days there. Beautiful fish to see and loads to do.
