      Good bus ride
Met in the zocalo area for the first bus. It left on time and was comfortable. Took the 11 o’clock bus back. Monte Alban was an interesting place to visit. Lots of uneven steps and hills. But beautiful. Did not hire a tour guide. There were a few signs in English.

      Oaxaca with Lescas Tours
Angel is an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide with a deep love and respect for Oaxaca. Mitla and Teotitlan del Valley are must sees. I really like that Kesha’s Tours is a family business and would definitely choose to tour with them again

      Disorganized return trip
Ride out to Mount Alban was great. Getting back was a different story. There was a crowd of people trying to find the right van to board. We thought we were on the right van but then we were asked to get off. We then had to search for the right van. It was chaos.

      Fantastic tour and guide
This was an amazing tour with an amazing tour guide Angel. If visiting Oaxaca this is a tour not to be missed and was much more interesting than we anticipated. Much of what made this tour so good was the tour guide Angel. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the history of Mitla and the Zapotec culture. He is also very good at explaining it. Angel is very positive and described the different views of the structure and culture which I greatly appreciated. beyond the guide Mitla is amazing. It may be a small site but what is there is exceptionally well preserved. Additionally the stop at the rug manufacturing site was very fun though I wonder if the rugs are actually hand made. If they are made in Mexico by locals that is good enough for me though. The large tree was fun to see and the restaurant for lunch was fantastic. The restaurant was a buffet which was surprisingly good with some fantastic fruit and traditional items. I will look for tours from Lescas for my future trips to Oaxaca and highly recommend them.

      Beautiful, entertaining, educational
This tour was fantastic! There is a great diversity of destinations and you learn a lot about local indigenous cultures. Our tour guide Angel was very knowledgeable and entertaining. The van was very comfortable and everything was well organized. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour and would recommend it to anyone looking to get out of Oaxaca for a full day!

      Incredible tour
This was a really great experience! Most of the stops felt a little short, but the information packed into each stop was EXCELLENT. Angel was an incredible guide, weaving history and language and cultural significance together while seamlessly switching back and forth between English and Spanish. I learned a lot, and appreciated the thorough explanations, especially of the different dyes in teotitlan and of the palace at mitla. Definitely recommend- I’ve been to Monte Albán before but I’m considering going again and booking a tour with Angel because I can only imagine how much more I’d learn and connect with the place with his explanations! Really well done!

Great guided tour, picked up right at our hotel
We were picked up right at 8 am from our hotel when we were booked the night before, and dropped off in the location we requested. Tour was great, we got to see some things that we may have missed if we were to go on our own to Mt Alban. 100 pesos per person as per new 2025 rates. Be aware that when you receive the confirmation email, it may bring you to another tour!

      Very good service
Everything went well and was as described. Tipp: I would recommend taking a guide at Monte Alban as the information boards are not that informative.

      I highly recommend this trip
I took the all-day tour that included the giant tree in Santa Maria Tule, the hand-dyed and hand-woven rug factory in Teotitlán, Hierve de Agua, the ruins in Mitla, and a mezcal factory in Tlacolula. Moses was our guide, and he was excellent. He had a lot of energy and had lots to say about every place we visited. He made the trip very interesting. I was blown away be the processes involved in making the rugs. From how the sheep’s wool is turned into yarn, to how it is dyed, and then woven – all was very interesting and impressive. Hieve de Agua was unique. I walked down to the third viewpoint and was impressed with this amazing, gigantic statue created by nature. The restaurant we stopped at for lunch had lots of different choices and everything I ate was delicious. The mezcal factory was a fun finale to the day. One word of advice – Bring a snack to eat along the way. We didn’t eat lunch until 3:30pm.

      Shuttle bus to Monte Alban
Turned up to Hotel Rivera Ángel to book a last minute shuttle to Monte Alban. Cost $100 pesos for a return trip. The van was very comfortable and punctual - I left Oaxaca at 1030am and got the return shuttle at 2pm. A good service, the guy taking bookings could speak a little bit of English which helped with my basic Spanish. Please note once you arrive at Monte Alban, due to road constructions you have to walk approx. 30mins through a little hiking trail - it is beautiful and scenic but rather steep, suitable shoes are a good idea. Until the road is fixed, if you have mobility issues, this may not be the best place to visit.

      Good day learning about Oaxaca.
We had a wonderful time seeing the Tule, Mitla, and weaving. Our guide, Angel, is great and the van was comfortable. It’s nice to have someone explain what’s going on at the various sites. I recommend you give it a try. It’s well worth the time and money.

      Well worth the money!
I've come to really like these Oaxaca tours. We visited a weaver, a mezcal distillery, a bakery, El Tule, and Yagul archeological site. All within the space of 6 hours. We learned so much and really got a feel for the area and its claims to fame. *Mitla was unavailable on this day due to wild fires, so the guides came up with an alternative that was just as interesting!

On guided tours it’s all about the guide and Miguel was excellent. Best guide during our two week Mexico trip. He was able to convey the essence, feel and facts about the place in concise descriptions. And he was able to answer questions and engage in interesting conversations. The logistics were also perfect. Lescas Tours is a large company and so have vans going back every hour so we were able to stay longer, have lunch at a cafe with a great view, and jump on the next ride back to town

The place is fascinating. The guide, Moises, was knowledgeable and eloquent. Worthwhile. We walked 8,000 steps on the first half of tour. That was enough for my wife and me, who are seniors. We had INAPAM, so we did not pay to enter. Others paid 100 pesos. I do not know why we paid tour company 581 pesos for a bus ride. Public transportation is about 30 pesos each way from Oaxaca city, I believe.

Transportation went smoothly with several stops. Miguel’s knowledge, passion for history, anthropology, and culture was contagious. I was concerned because the group was rather large, but he answered questions thoughtfully, shared so much information. Monte Alban is a treasure. Highly recommend morning trip, because it gets very hot mid-day

Our guided tour to Monte Alban was by far the highlight of our 10 day trip to Oaxaca, specifically because our tour guide Miguel was INCREDIBLE. Miguel is so knowledgeable and had our entire tour group enthralled. He is so passionate about the history and culture of the Zapotec people. He was so much fun to tour with as he has so much information to share, he even pulled out periodicals about Monte Alban and passed them around to give us a tactile point of reference for the things he was teaching us about. I highly recommend doing a tour with Miguel, you will learn so much. He needs to have his own tv show!

He guides the truth is that he did very well....but the transport was terrible.... We were told there was a shuttle at 11am back. We were already in the parking lot at 10:50 waiting for the shuttle along with other members of the tour. Time passed and the van arrived 11 25. We were welcomed at 4 and just before the driver started he turned off the cart and told us to wait. He returned 5 minutes later saying that that shuttle would leave until 12 o’clock that the eleven o’clock shuttle had already come down and that we had arrived late! We told them that we were there before 11 and that there was no way we would have been late because we were super attentive to every cart and van that came in and went out to the waiting place. They kept insisting that we were late and that's what made me angry. It is easier to be told the truth .. (that they do not want to take a trip with 4 people or that they arrived almost half an hour late and if they took us no longer gave them time to return to the other times.)... to want to see our faces and blame us. In the end we leave until 12. A super unpleasant experience really. If you can leave with another better organized conpania do it!!! It hurts because of the guide that he did want his chamba and explained well but because the transport system makes the experience bitter.

This is one of the best guided tours I’ve taken. Miguel is able to paint the picture of the Zapotecs at Monte Alban in a relatable and engaging way. I learned so much and I am so impressed by how knowledgeable he is. I also liked that the tour was very well organized. Highly recommended!

My partner and I did the 4 hour tour and it was one of the most engaging tours I’ve done anywhere. Our guide Miguel was incredibly knowledgeable and also had a great sense of humor. He is an understated intellectual in the sense that he is able to make connections between the cultural dynamics of Zapotec society with other cultures and time periods (including the present) in a manner that brings great depth without losing portions of the audience. He was also very skilled with handling a range of personalities. Our group included a group of boomer (apartheid-era) Afrikaners (ie South African colonizers) who behaved in an entitled aggressive manner. He was able to skillfully handle them. I highly recommend this tour company and Miguel (who is a member of the Lesca family).

I went with my 9 year old son, who is not much for walking or history :D and he complained the whole time. I knew this going in, and still managed to get some good bits of history and experience out of it. The tour guide, Miguel Lescas, was kind and knowledgeable. When the tour was over and it was time for the self-guided part, my son was ready to go back to town. I asked Miguel when we could catch the next shuttle, and he took it upon himself to guide us back to the parking area, engaging my son with warmth and interest in the things he was interested in which perked my son up considerably. When the shuttle ended up departing early before we made it down, he made sure we made it back anyways. He went above and beyond and really made the experience for us. Thank you!

Miguel was very knowledgeable of Zapotec history and the history of Monte Alban. He also had knowledge of multiple ancient civilizations and delivered the information as if taking us back in time. He is one of the best tour guides I've had. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone with an interest in Oaxaca and/or the Zapotec civilization.

Our guide, Miguel, was very knowledgeable about the history and the politics of the region and of archeology itself - both historical and present. He did an excellent job of presenting the history as a living thing that continues to impact the region and the movement of peoples throughout the Americas. Highly recommend!
