- Gabriella_rubio00good experienceWe had a great time at this tour. We visited Mitla and 2 other places, El tule and a mezcal place. I wish we had more time to explore Mitla. It seemed a little rushed but its understandable. I also wish we had time to visit the church in Mitla. Overall I do recommend this half day tour.
- studior89300Worth a visitHierve el Agua was absolutely amazing! Such a beautiful place, with the mountains as a backdrop. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes, as you will be doing LOTS of very high stairs. Our guide was incredible fit and nimble, and helped us take great photos. The visit to the weaving workshop taught us all about the weaving methods traditions there (bring your $$). The mezcal tasting tour was informative—and tasty. Mitla and Tule were cool as well. We had a great driver, who kept the vibe pleasant with great music. His ability to navigate those narrow mountain roads is nothing short of commendable. A great trip!
- willbS8559UJ00Enlightening and BeautifulThis Mitla tour snuck up on us as perhaps our favorite day of our trip. Mostly due to the thoughtfulness and hospitality of the tour guide, Angel. We learned so much about the history of the area, and would recommend to anyone!
- Fearlesscoward00Truly the Worst Experience of this LongTripThey lied about the return time repeatedly and only were forthright about how late we’d be back once we were somewhere I had no rideshare or public transport options to make my flight. They cost me time, 1000s of pesos in unseen cost, and a night of potential homelessness in oaxaca of all places. I wish they were honest, as any of these tours are doable by public transport. They also booked me for a tour in Spanish which meant no information gained. Also wasn’t fun having to wait on the side of the highway in podunk nowhere because I didn’t want to eat at the tourist trap buffet they took us to. Sure they have buses to Monte albon, but they have no respect for the customer, and will say or do anything to make a buck. Like an American! Give your business to an honest company if you value your time.
- John O00Very straightforward and low-stressThis was exactly what I was looking for, i.e. an easy way to get from central Oaxaca City to Monte Albán and back. We left from the central Zocalo. it more or less says this on the confirmation, but it took me a minute to figure out that their office is on the side facing the Cathedral -- right where Google Maps has "Lescas Tours Oaxaca", which makes sense. We went a few minutes early, waited for the van/bus to leave, and got to Monte Albán in less than half an hour. The driver helpfully told us to come back to the parking lot any hour on the hour, and sure enough when we got back at noon there he was. I strongly recommend going in the morning when the sun isn't too hot. My wife and I went for three hours and found that to be perfect, although I think you could fit it into two if you just focused on the highlights. On the other hand I think you could also do four and really take in all the signs (which are almost all trilingual), the museum, etc.
- Well_Travelled_TO00Good Tour, Good PeopleI booked with Lescas after a bad experience with another agency and I'm so glad that I made the change. They are very friendly and accommodating. I especially appreciated help that I received from the driver and tour guide when I got to the top of a pyramid and then fainted from the heat. They got me safely down to ground level and into an air-conditioned car, which drove me back to Oaxaca. In spite of this incident, I enjoyed the rest of the tour. We visited several locations before we got to Mitla and our guide provided detailed information about each place, but in Spanish, although he speaks English well. Most of our group did not understand Spanish and the English explanations were brief and less detailed. However, that was a small inconvenience and overall it's a good tour. A problem for Lescas is that the agency office, through no fault of their own, can be difficult to locate. Because construction is underway on the other side of the square, their entrance is blocked by stalls. There's a passage between stalls, but you have to look for it. I hope for their sake that their office will soon be more visible.
- RoloDeLaFrance00Good family tourWe really enjoyed this tour. We were picked up from our hotel at the time they told us they would pick us up. Our tour guy, I believe his name is Angel, was awesome. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. We visited Tula, Artisans/Rugs house, Distillery, Restaurant and Mitla. They took the group in two vans. Good thing to know about this tour is that nothing other than the tour guide and transportation is included. You have to pay for admission to all the sites you visit and pay for your buffet at the restaurant. The food was really good. I recommend this tour. My 8 yrs old really enjoyed it.
- 771bruceg00Best Tours in OaxacaThe best tour company in Oaxaca!! Whatever you do, make sure Angel is your tour guide. Monte Alban is really great. Mezcal tastings & tours. Wool dying and weaving. Much more.
- E7452HCmariannev00Monte Alban shuttleThe shuttle was well organised, and Monte Alban was impressive, worth the trip! However, in retrospect, it was not really necessary to book before. All other passengers in our shuttle had booked just before at the actual pick-up places. This is cheaper and more flexible re departure times. It is also more clear for the drivers as unlike the others we did not have a paper ticket to show, only the voucher which Tripadvisor sent by mail (paper ticket especially useful for the return) . We were visiting in low season, so in high season it might still be worth the commission to book before.
- toastie_travel00Monte Alban half day tourMiguel was really knowledgeable as well as entertaining! One of the better tours I’ve gone on, would thoroughly recommend the half day tour to monte alban.
- James G00Great experience visiting Monte AlbanFrom pick-up to drop off, A great experience. Angel, our guide was articulate, clear and interesting. He did a masterful job setting out what archeologists know and don't know about this Zapotec site. The tour was just the right length. Excellent all around.
- Paul P00Day trip to Mitla. The half day was great from beginning to end. El Tule the magnificent giant 2000 year old tree was awe inspiring. The rug making facility had a lot of interesting demonstrations and info on all the organic dyes used. The Mescal distillery was tasty and I came away realising that they are not all over the top smoky. The lunch buffet was large with lots of choices. Mitla is a small but important archeological site set in a cool little village. The bus trip was comfortable, picking up right off the zocola.
- patsN4581NF00Okay for the money. But not as described. The trip was good. However we only had an English tour guide for the first part. The last half of the trip I had to get someone to translate what the driver was saying. There were also a lot more people than 20 on the trip. It was okay because we were in two buses. Hierve de Agua would have been much better with some explanation. However, It was nice to swim on a hot day. The company should consider adding all of the admissions to the total price. It was very annoying to have to come up with payment each time for a site admission.
- Anita G00Wonderful, fun and informative!Wonderful well paced trip - we especially enjoyed the parts we didn’t think we’d like- the mezcal factory and rug artisans were really interesting. Miguel our guide and Jorge our driver were professional and fun. Our van was extremely clean and nice. The 11 hours went by very fast . When I left my cell phone on board the van , they went out of their way to return it to me. I would highly recommend this tour company. Really loved the day!!
- Mayatravels202300Be careful! Not a pleasant experience with them. The lady who sold the ticket put a return time on my ticket without consulting with me or my knowledge. When I tried to take the return shuttle, the driver refused to take me on an earlier shuttle because the return time was later. Only then I realized that I was spammed. The communication with the head office was not useful and they said to wait in the parking lot for another hour and take the next shuttle (because that is what we like to do when we travel!). So all I can say is be careful with what they write on your ticket! I would not recommend them,

This was a terrible arrangement! Due to Covid, the ruins were only allowing 200 people at a time to enter. Our van carried 16 passengers and by the time we got close to the entrance, there was a two hour wait! There were hundreds of cars, vans and even buses loaded full with clients! We had to sit in the cramped van with little ventilation. I was VERY nervous about this. My husband and I ended up getting out of the van and hailing a taxi to take us back to the hotel. We never did see the ruins.
The tour company never explained the situation and how the 3-4 hour tour would be spent primarily waiting in line to see the attraction. If we had known, we never would have gone! This was extremely unprofessional!
I would like a full refund based on the misinformation about the tour and the constraints in place.

Due to covid 19 there are restrictions at Monte Alban , like you mention 400 people allow every day , that's why we leave earlier than usual (10 am) plus 31 oct - nov4 is holidays in mexico , that's high season and monte alban is one of the most important attractions in oaxaca .
We try to contact every one of our clients to give insight in the way the this place is manage and you can be prepare and know what expect .
But remenber the way the arqueological site is manage it out of our control and we do our best to visit it in the best way possible , we really sorry if we didn't share that information with you too.
we would have liked to know about your feelings before your review or at our offices to solve this for the benefit of both parts
if you would like a refund we need to know when was your tour and your tour guides name and follow up on that

We did the half day tour and it was enough time to see Monte Albán. The tour leaves early between 8-9am because there is a 400 person (due to covid restrictions) limit to visit Monte Albán, and people start getting turned away by 11am. The van ride was short and comfy. Our tour guide made sure we got there early enough. They were patient, kind, and knowledgeable. Our guide has been leading tours for 30 years! The tour is offered in English and in Spanish. We were not going to do a tour to Monte Albán and try to do it ourselves, but we were so glad we did this tour. It’s an incredible, historical site. I highly recommend this tour!

Monte Alban was truly a special experience! You really feel transported in time as the buildings are so well taken care of. Our guide was Miguel and he was so energetic, informative, and made you really excited to learn about the history of this area. The half day also is so quick and you can be back in time for dinner or whatever activities you have for the evening. I would 100% recommend everyone visit this site!

This was a great tour after doing several throughout Mexico this tour was the best. Miguel is an excellent guide with perfect English. He has a love for Monte Albán, archeology and ancient civilizations making his tour standout to others. I highly recommend this tour as it offers a deeper understanding to ancient civilizations and how little we were taught about these early civilizations!

Amazing half day tour. Miguel made the tour- he was so knowledgable and passionate. 100% recommend this tour for a half day visit to Monte Alban. We were at the site 9am-noon and got a really good overview of the site before the crowds and heat set in.

Great English speaking guide. Tour was in English as requested. Other tour to Hierve el Agua we paid for English was mostly Spanish & omitted the Mitla ruins we had paid to & planned on seeing.

I had not been to Monte Alban in 12 years. My guide, Miguel (son of Miguel) was deeply informed, entertaining, responsive to questions - a great guide. The site is fascinating and more so with Miguel’s help. Do visit if in the great city of Oaxaca, and a good guide is well worth the money.

Our guide, Moises was a wealth of information! We had some people with walking issues, so he made the walk as easy as possible for them while still keeping the rest of us engaged in the symbolism & remarkable history we were walking through. This was one of the best tours we have ever taken. Monte Alban is huge, with amazing views down to the valley in all directions. A must see experience with a knowledgeable guide!

We visited Monte Alban to take in the heights, sites and archaeological ruins of the pre-columbian Zapotec people.
We had a great time, it was all very simple.
We were collected from our hotel and taken up to Monte Alban in an air conditioned mini-bus.
When we arrived there was also another small bus of people. Miguel was our guide, he spoke clearly and concisely and offered a lot of information about the historical site.
Miguel was a great guy, easy to talk to, answered all our questions and was very relaxed and calm in his delivery. A pleasure to be on your tour 😁

Monte Alban is astounding. Only a quarter of it has been excavated and it is huge. We have been to lots of Mesoamerican ruined cities, but this is one of the best. Quite a few people but not overwhelming like Uxmal or Chichen Itza. The minibus there and back was efficient and comfortable but the absolute best was the wonderful guide we had, Miguel. His English is better than ours, his knowledge of the site encyclopaedic, his sense of humour dry and infectious. His father was a guide and he was taken to the site many times as a child (much to his disgust!). But now, his enthusiasm and ability to bring the ancient city to life made the trip memorable. Frankly, the best guided tour we have ever had.
