- 768carliec00Cool experienceJesi showed us the murals around the city and taught us about the sociopolitical art that we find in the city. We learned about the protests of 2006 and how people used art as expression. We saw many examples of how Oaxacan art celebrates the ancient and the modern. We visited a student workshop that produces mostly prints from linocuts and wood cuts and another artist studio / printshop in a gallery. Bring a backpack so that you can carry anything you might buy. I would recommend bringing at least $1500 mxn to purchase some prints from the students and the artist studio. The bikes we used are mountain bikes with decent suspension which made it easy to ride on the cobblestone streets. We explored the neighborhoods of centro, xochimilco and jalatlaca. Jesi provided trail mix an eco friendly bottle with purified water which was easily stored on the holder on the bike frame. Be sure to eat breakfast before you head out!
- rickwX9441ER00Good tour to see local art muralsCoyote Adventures are well located in the historic centre next to a bike shop… convenient for a cycling tour. We met at 09:00 and were given bikes and helmets - quality was good enough; nothing fancy or new. The tour spent the first 2.5 hours visiting various areas around the outskirts of the city seeing mostly murals by professional artists. There was also some paste-up art. Our guide explained the history and background as we went and provided adequate free time to take photos. Doing the tour on foot would be simply impractical. We visited a local community art-collaboration-project which creates the stencils for the paste-up art. The property is authentically run-down and in need of some renovation but really engaged us with its vision and explanation of its socio-political objectives. They also explained how they engage outside Oaxaca expanding the impact of the work and taking the artists on tour outside Mexico. Finally we visited a modern print works seeing how stencils are made using wood, lino, glass or metal as the basis for printing. Both stops offered opportunity to purchase art which we did at the community project. The quality and variety of art was comparable to other international cities we have visited and is well worth taking the time for art enthusiasts.
- Jil G00Exquisite beauty and cultural appreciation of OaxacaBreathtaking and enriching experience, wonderful guide, lovely small group, culturally and environmentally respectful. Food was great too, from the snacks along the way to our breakfast in a small family comedor, and the gracious lunch at our hosts textile workshop. I will seek out Coyote Adventuras experiences again!
- brendabO2881QA00ExcellentMy group and I did multiple adventures and had a great time. The Coyote team was super helpful and we really enjoyed the time we spent in Oaxaca, Mexico. We really enjoyed the hiking in Cerro del Jaguar and the adventures to the archeological sites.
- Jdorsa2400Breathtakingly Beautiful Mineral Pools, Great Hike and Wonderful visit with a local family for lunch and textiles. This was a truly terrific excursion. We started out early and headed to Hierve El Agua. We stopped for breakfast outside Oaxaca and had some tasty Mexican treats. Hierve was fantastic. What an amazing sight. The hike afterward was challenging but fun as well. We then visited a textile shop inside the home of a local family. They prepared lunch for us and then gave us a workshop on wool rug making. It was a wonderful day. I would highly recommend Coyote. Our guide was Jessi and she was lovely and fun. Jorge was our driver and he was great as well. Take this adventure, you will enjoy it.
- Masika H00See Oaxaca by bike!Jesse our guide, was knowledgeable, patient, friendly, and helpful. It felt that I got so much more than what I paid for, with the snacks, bike, water, and other gifts. Highly recommend!
- coacht4000Incredible!I loved the tour and its organization. Everything was well thought out and planned. My guide Melanie was awesome, very knowledgeable, and easy-going. I got lots of interesting information and great pictures. Great time! 100% recommended :)
- jenniferbR886GL00Fun, beautiful, and informative! The tour was fantastic! Diego, our guide, gave lots of information about street art and Oaxaca. You could feel his love and pride of this place. It is not a flat ride, but there are plenty of stops, so you can rest a bit. I highly recommend this tour!
- jonj66100Wonderful day with many great stopsThe entire experience was amazing. The van ride was pretty curvy through the mountains, so if you get car-sick I would recommend bringing some medication or anything that helps you feel better. The views were stunning from the first location. The hike was a little longer than I expected, but I can't complain because we were surrounded by mountains and beauty. Our guide was incredible, she made sure we were staying hydrated and we took a couple breaks along the way. The end of our hike was another spectacular pool. Once we got to the rug shop, we ate lunch, (at about 4:00pm, so be prepared for that) and then learned about the entire process. Overall a fantastic day, with great adventures and great people.
- ShelleyM22300Arty Take on Oaxaca!Spent the morning with Yesi cycling around the different quirky neighborhoods of Oaxaca! It was a fantastic experience to visit different neighborhoods and see all the amazing artwork that abounds. Mexico’s street art fills my heart with joy! Visiting the different art projects was also interesting. Yesi was fun to spend the day with, very professional, took good care of us in the traffic etc, explained the art pieces well and clearly is passionate about what she does. A great day was spent by all and I loved that we could cover so much ground on the bikes. I would highly recommend this tour.
- X2199ZVkristinc00Highly recommendIt was amazing and so worth it. Yesi spoke perfect English and shared so much information about each mural. It provided us with a perfect basic knowledge of the local culture through the lens of street art. It was great to do this out first day so we could build on the information shared. We highly recommend it!
- BRBSte00Incredible experienceCoyote Adventures is an excellent organization. The guides are highly knowledgeable, welcoming, and booking an adventure with them was an experience I will never forget. 1000% recommend!
- HaileyS9500Magical Forest ExperienceMy husband and I went on a hike with coyote adventures and had such a great experience. Our guides Armando and Diego were so knowledgeable and passionate. We learned about the plants, food, the land, oaxancan culture and more! The hike itself was beautiful - about seven miles of easy to moderate terrain. I would love to return to Oaxaca and do another tour with our guides who felt more like friends in the end.
- masonkroll00Amazing rock climbing experienceWe did "Rock Climbing at San Sebastián Tutla" with Armando and Diego and it was honestly one of the highlights of our whole trip to Oaxaca. They were excellent guides and made rock climbing approachable and fun for us (beginner rock climbers, beginner/intermediate at indoor bouldering). The climbs were varied and challenging, the location was beautiful and Armando/Diego were knowledgeable/funny/good hangs. The food at the end was satisfying and the whole experience was wonderful. Highly recommended!
- znegin00Incredible tour of the Sierra NorteWe couldn't have been more happy with the Coyote Adventuras. The amazing Shai and her dog Mesa along with Choche our driver took us up to the Sierra Norte Mountains and were very adaptable to our needs. There were four of us and we asked if we could do a more intense/longer hike, and Shai easily adapted the plan to allow for this. The area we hiked in were unbelievably beautiful and rural. We hiked from one village to another on the first day, and then to old gold processing ruins on the second day and went swimming in the river!

We really enjoyed this tour company and what it offered. Breakfast in a local home (basically a dirt floor kitchen and a huge traditional clay pot for making everything) and a sandwhich for lunch. The hike was intense. People say it's not that bad, which parts weren't. But there was a lot of downhill hiking with rocks that caused a few falls for multiple people in our party. I skinned my wrist and leg pretty badly. I don't hike a lot but am very fit so if you're reasonably fit you will get a good workout.
Pros: Jessy the tour guide was sweet, personable, and very educated on the area. The bus was air conditioned, on time, and flexible on final destination (we opted not to do the mezcal tasting, they took us to a local loom for an eductaional class and the Tree of Tule instead).
Cons: The information guide says 7 am hotel pick up - it actually came to be that we had to meet at their van pickup at 6:30 am. Recommendation for a walking stick or shoes with more ankle support for us less savvy hikers. Recommendation for water shoes when visiting the caves. (Our feet were beat up after walking on all of the sharp rocks).
Overall would definitely use this company again, just would have liked to have a more accurate list of what to bring/expect.

Had a phenomenal time exploring Hierve el Agua with Shy! She was a lovely guide who’s passion for the region and for nature came through in every moment of the trip. The tour felt intimate with only ten guests total and i felt like each if us had a moment where something we were excited about what highlighted in a one on one moment with the guide. They made sure to get us up the mountain early to see the sight before it became crowded with tourists and emphasized the local community that stewards that place with care. We had a couple of bumps along the way due to heavy rain but our guide led us through them with grace.
Fair warning though- this hike is not for the faint of heart. Remember lots of water and good hiking shoes. We did about 10 miles in total due to the trail being rerouted by rainfall so come mentally and physically prepared.

Our guide Juan was so lovely, he was so generous with the meaning of local traditions and the meanings behind them as he has indigenous roots as well. The tour was really well run and even with all 11 of us there it felt organised yet relaxed.
The secret waterfall and pools were absolutely spectacular, and were only accessible through Juan and Coyote's relationship with the zapotec community, these are not to be missed! A cascading waterfall into a cave made of calcium deposits made for an incredible experience
The Mezcal experience was far more than the tasting i was expecting, we met with Geronimo who offered his way of enjoying mezcal and offered a very generous amount of tastings of all of his different mezcal varieties, then we took a ride on his truck around his agave plantation and were offered more mezcal and another way you enjoy it and one of us were lucky to be given a mezcal cleansing
All of the guides and members were friendly and patient, thank you to Juan, Daniel, Geronimo and Sergio
If you want to see more then just Hierve del Agua and understand the significance behind the pools and see the secret limestone cave and waterfall then these are your people

The experience is amazing. Our host, Shai, is lovely and knowledgeable about the area and the traditions. This was one of the best parts of our trip to Oaxaca, but I would leave it to the end of your trip because it is a long, strenuous day. It starts at 6 am to avoid crowds, and you are provided a nice breakfast at a local's home. I enjoyed it thoroughly but be aware that it is a TRUE hike, it is not a trail. You will be going uphill on the first hike and the thinner air made it difficult. This for your personal level- I am 47 years old, average weight & activity, but other youngsters n the group had no problem! You must bring hiking boots or shoes with great traction for the second downhill trek, or you risk falling and slipping, and don't be shy about asking for a hiking pole. Shai was very supportive about stopping for breaks, and the local guide was a great support for us slower folks in the back. You also have the option to skip the 2nd hike and drive up in the van. I am sure the host would make other accommodations for anyone who is having a difficult time. Also, add ECO friendly sunscreen & ECO friendly bug spray and water shoes/swim shoes for the rocky second swim, to your packing list, as chemicals are prohibited. Even though it was tough, and I have the scrapes & bruises to prove it, with preparation I recommend it.

We booked a hiking tour to Hierve el agua with Coyote aventuras and had a great time! Our guide, Diana, was super cool and informative. The tour included a stop at a traditional town for breakfast, a hike to a private waterfall, and a stop to a mezcal distillery. The tour group was small so it felt intimate. I would recommend Coyote Aventuras to all!

This was an amazing tour/hike/mazcal tasting. We were looking to see and hike the petrified falls and so many tours spent so little time at the falls. Not this tour. We hike around the falls, had plenty of time to swim and then hiked to an another amazing waterfall that is exclusive/no one else was there. Then we went to a very small/amazing family that brews their own mezcal for tasting and delicious homemade food.
I highly recommend them over all the other tours we took as the others are just interested in quick trips to commercial shops and don’t let you experience the true Oaxaca. This is a must tour.

I booked the Hierve el Agua Tour with Coyote Aventuras, and I'm happy I chose this tour over other cheaper ones. It was totally worth it. It was very well organised and our guides Fernando and Shai were amazing! We arrived at Hierve el Agua early to avoid the crowds. After taking a lot of photos, they took us on a beautiful hike and to a hidden waterfall. Definitely the highlight of my visit in Oaxaca! Thank you guys so much!

A great experience from part of the team and specially Armando who was the one making this experience a worth remembering one.
Great price for the activities.
I recommend to sleep well as the hikings and the Mezcal route is quite exhausting.
The best part is the openess from the communities and families who welcome us in their homes to eat traditional and local food.
Thank you guys!

The tour at Hierve el Agua was great, really nice to walk to see the waterfall from different angles. The Salinas was a great surprise. The two local guides we had both at Hierve and at the mezcal farm were fantastic and very knowledgeable. And the food was delicious, especially the breakfast.
The two negative things were
1) the hike isn't really nice, it's not a trail and without being hard it's more a walk going down the mountain. It's full of rocks so hard on the knees, be sure to have good shoes. Not necessarily the enjoyable part of the day.
2) A lot of people in our group were Spanish speaking and the coyote guide didn't necessarily translate everything from the local guides, so we didn't get as much from them as we would have wished.
Overall we had a great day and we would recommend it as long as you don't have high expectation for the hike itself. + Just a few things to improve to make it better value for money.

Overall, it was a good experience. The time at the actual Hierve el Agua felt rushed, with us only getting about 20 minutes to enjoy the pools (we left there around 9:30, way ahead of what was scheduled, which we did not realize until later). While the special waterfall was nice, the top portion is much more iconic and more time was needed. Some of the time on the schedule also gets optimized by getting down to the area, too. The mezcal distillery was unnecessary and should be removed from the itinerary-- prices were high, and the food was truly mediocre at best. More time at Hierve, please!

You sent me a link to this form with an email saying I could sign up, in response to my email asking if I could reserve 2 slots for the hierve el agua trip on Wed. 1-23, but this site shows no openings for January. So can I make 2 reservations for Wed. 1-23, and at $90 each as advertised on your website, or not?
