we had such a wonderful time and it’s definitely because our tour guides went above and beyond to give us a great experience.
they really think of everything when they’re coordinating this trip. they provided us with blankets, dramamine, a backpack, water bottle, towels, head lamps, snacks, soap, breakfast, lunch, etc. we probably could have came with nothing and they would have helped us out. we came on a cold, foggy day and i forgot a jacket - our guide danny was literally about to give me his jacket lol seriously the kindest people! so 10/10 for this tour company! thank u so much danny and JC :)
as far as the experience, it goes without saying that this is one of the most beautiful places you will ever lay your eyes on. my partner and i were in awe the entire time. obviously be prepared to get wet and swim a bit. since we came on a cold day, a lot of us in the group, including myself, were really reluctant to swim in the river or go in the cave, but i’m really really glad i sucked it up and did it because this is truly a unique experience. the main pools that you start at are probably like 95°F - the ones at the top are the warmest and they get cooler as they descend. the river (this is where we ate lunch and our guides built us a fire) was surprisingly very warm as well probably like 95°! it’s this beautiful, cloudy turquoise color and i even saw tiny fish in there. the large cave beneath the waterfall is the star of the show, so DEFINITELY go in (unless you’re not a strong swimmer then just go into the entrance and not down the river, yes there’s a river in the cave). there’s also a water fall inside of the cave. it’s insane. the cave above the waterfall is the warmest - kind of feels like going into a sauna and probably like 107°. 10/10 for the location and all of its amenities! book this tour!!!!

I was purified by the waters of Tolantongo! Getting there was a journey, an early journey, but a necessary one to get back to CDMX in time. Unforeseen things happen, one of the vans got a flat but we just made extra room for the passengers and had a lovely breakfast. Van was fixed and the journey continued. Dafni was a superwoman and made all the moves to ensure we stayed on track and on time, even when life happened. She was very clear in her instructions for the day's events and kept the group together. I would highly recommend doing this excursion during the week for relaxation, as the weekends are full of families with kids that love to splash water all the time. Our group was very timely and we had extra time to indulge in some local pulque, the drink of the gods ;) This is truly a memorial event that is worth your time in the CDMX.

Phenomenal and a great value for the experience. On our tour we were able to see everything that Tolantongo had to offer. The pools are gorgeous and warm. They allow you to relax as you take in the scenery. The zip line was exhilarating and offered an absolutely stunning perspective of the river. The river was so beautiful for a relaxing dip. The caves were otherworldly. All of this was facilitated by an incredible, and well organized, tour team who worked to make sure that everything promised in the description was delivered courteously and exactly as described. We’re blown away with this trip and 10/10 recommended this tour group for your excursion. Our gratitude goes to Alex and the rest of the team for an incredible and unforgettable experience. Thank you!

The experience was amazing, but I’m giving 4 out of 5 stars because the transportation was not very good. The bus didn’t have spacious seats, so it was uncomfortable, especially the back chairs. The bus didn’t have good suspension, and most importantly it didn’t have seatbelts. This is important since the road has a lot of cliffs. Besides that, Damian was very helpful and the whole experience was great

Amazing tour. They honestly thought of everything. Bus arrived early. Guide spoke perfect English and was very nice and cool and offered lots of great advice. They provided towels, headlamps, reusable water bottles, waterproof cell phone cases and sunblock. And then fresh towels and soap and shampoo at the end. We had plenty of time in each location. Our guide Alex was always nearby if you needed him but left you alone if you didn’t. The lunch was lovely under the shade of trees next to the gorgeous river. The pools are as spectacular as they look on Instagram. The cave and tunnels are way more exciting than they look. They would not be legal in the US. The driver was totally responsible yet fast. We stopped for delicious sweet or savory pastes that were super inexpensive on our way home. Couldn’t recommend more highly. I’m hoping to do it again!

Visiting the Tolantongo hot springs was a Pinterest/Instagram dream come true! We also visited a turquoise river and then a 3rd (my favorite) stop which was the caves/waterfall. It was beautiful, stunning, incredible how nature exists like this just a few hours from Mexico City. The tour provided many things including a head band with a light attached. With that we went swimming in this incredible cave.
Our tour guide, Eduardo, who goes by the name, “Lalo” kept it professional while we were all in the water. He was very clear with directions on which ropes to hold, what to expect, and what to do at each point. He was fluent in English with extensive vocabulary. He made us feel comfortable, safe, and protected. He was always counting during the excursions to keep track of each person in the group. I and a few others felt a bit nervous at certain points however Lalo was skilled at validating our feelings as well as reassuring us about the fact that countless people do this often and everyone leaves satisfied. He was right. Lalo was generous enough to take the time to go back and take 2 other people from our group who first decided not to participate, but then changed their minds when we all came out of the caves talking about how incredible it was. The water falls in the caves were naturally warm. This was the coolest experience I have ever done in Mexico! It was a long day but totally worth the price. Thank you Lalo, and our safe and considerate driver, as well as TuroToursMX for offering this experience. I’ve been telling everyone I know and they will all be booking this tour on their next trip to Mexico City!

Amazing destination with awesome guides who were very helpful and well equipped. The only thing that let down the experience was the buses used for transport, extremely cramped and uncomfortable especially for the 3 or 4 hours travel each way. I understand smaller buses are required to reach the river, however choosing cramming in extra rows over passengers comfort looses the 5th star today.

Hi Jesse. I appreciate your honest feedback. I want to say that we agree with you completely. As a rule of thumb, we only allow 14 people per van but there are 20 seats. The problem is that all tourism vans in CDMX force extra rows for large groups and profits. Hopefully in the near future, we will have our own vans with max 14 seats, well spaced out. Thanks for your feedback and thanks for choosing us.

I would 100% recommend doing this tour when you’re in Mexico City. Front-to-back AMAZING. The hotsprings are very relaxing and not too crowded, the river is beautiful and the caves are one of the most beautiful pieces of nature I ever experienced in my life. Alex is an amazing guide as well!

Highly recommended tour. The trip is divided into 3 parts. First part is visiting the pools. Highly recommend to do the zip line which will take you down to the next destination. Second part of the trip is having lunch near the bigger pools. I prefer this than the smaller pools on the first part of the trip. Third part is visiting the caves which was amazing. It was a unique experience since not only will you be going inside the cave but you also get to swim inside, water is shallow. Danny our guide and our driver, Herson were very accommodating. Without them, our trip wouldnt have been memorable and enjoyable.

This trip was absolutely worth the time and expense. This place is gorgeous! You will be awarded a unique and amazing experience of a lifetime. The tour operators think of everything for the trip and plan out the day great. I appreciated the regular check ins to ensure you are comfortable and have what you need along communicating next stops, timing, etc. They really think of everything so you can relax and enjoy the experience. Danny clearly loves his role as host and did an amazing job. It’s very enjoyable to be around someone who loves what they do and appreciates the beautiful and cultural aspect of the area. Really loved the tour and the Tolantongo! Thank you!
