Make this one of the too things you do when you visit Mexico City.
We had a tour with Clara today and it was truly terrific. She picked a perfect tour for us through this amazing market and gave us a detailed history if the market and the food we were eating. She’s a kind soul that cares deeply about the city and this market. Make this one of the too things you do when you visit Mexico City.

    Highly recommendable
We had a very good tour. Our guide Clara first gave us coffee and we ate a "torta" at a street stall. After that we spent most of our time in two parts of the St. Juan market. There we tried fruit, different types of cheese, dips, sweet jams, corn and drank either wine or Malcedo liquor to go with it. Other typical Mexican dishes followed. The tour ended with ice cream. Clara explained a lot to us about Mexican food culture. She responded to our wishes and was very interested in learning about German food culture. We had very good conversations along the way. This tour helped us to better understand the Mexican soul. We can only warmly recommend Clara and this tour.

    MUST DO IN MEXICO CITY
Toti and Nico were fantastic. Each had and impressive depth of knowledge on the history, culture, and of course the food. The guides made this one of the ver best things we did in the city. This tour is for people that want a genuine experience, Nobu is in another part of town 😉

Absolute essential experience to markets and street food in Mexico City
Clara met us for a guided tour of the food markets and street food in Mexico City. This was our first full day in Mexico and it was so helpful to have someone passionate and so knowledgeable to explain to us the origins of different Mexican food types, the related regional cultural backgrounds to try them out. Clara knew the best of the street food options and purveyors and we steadily ate our way around the city centre trying shellfish tacos (our favourite) , tostas (with turkey) , tostados, pulque (a drink made from agave plant) and many other things. If you enjoy food and want to eat Mexican food, this is a must to acquaint yourself with the different styles of eating and what to eat - helping us up to know what we liked and what to buy by ourselves. Clara is an expert in this field and we so enjoyed our time with her. I highly recommend booking a tour or other food options with Eat Mexico

    Delicious, informative and unique
We had a wonderful tour with Toti, who guided us through this bustling market and provided us with a delicious and safe experience. It truly felt like an adventure off the beaten path and we would recommend it to everyone as part of their CDMX itinerary! Toti was able to tailor the tour to our preferences and we had some of the most delicious food we had during all of our trip (honestly as good if not better than Pujol and Rosetta)! Would do it all over again in an instant!

Once in a lifetime experience (thank you Yimnah!)
Yimnah brought us on a thoughtful, smart, safe, and brilliant tour of La Merced. She was charismatic and educational the whole time (so much energy for multiple hours!), and clearly a celebrity of the market, saying hi to many vendors. As tourists, we felt very fortunate to experience a place as unique and complex as this market, with such a terrific guide. The food was incredible, and what we learned about the history and culture of the market goers even more so. It felt an extreme world away from places like Condesa or Roma. It wouldn’t be a place to go on your own as a tourist, so the fact Eat Mexico brings you safely and respectfully there is a once in a lifetime chance. Thank you Yimnah and Eat Mexico!

Perfect way to experience downtown CDMX!!
Had a fantastic experience with the family food tour. We had three adults and three children between 6 and 9 years old, and everyone loved it. Perfect mix of options for the full group, and our tour guide Toti was amazing. Highly recommended!!

    Informative, Delicious Tour
With a professional culinary background, our guide, Toti, was both knowledgeable and eager to help us appreciate the many flavor traditions we were sampling. We had a wonderful time seeing the city with her, and getting to know little places we never would not have seen otherwise. We left confident about how to enjoy the amazing offerings seemingly on every street. Thanks to Tori regularly checking in with us about how hungry we were, what flavors we liked, etc., we were delightfully satisfied at the end of our tour. Toti is a patient, enthusiastic guide with excellent English -- highly recommend!

This was such a great experience! I get really overwhelmed in situations like this but felt super at ease with our guide, Nico. We ate amazing food and learned about the culture throughout.

    So good I came back!
We did the mercado and navarte tours and had amazing experience. I had gone in both these tours during a visit in November 2023 and had such a great time I decided to do it again with family! Toti was our guide for each occasion and is always a great resource for culinary and cultural questions!

    A great family tour
We did the Streets and Sweets tour led by Nico — myself, our 13-year-old son, and my partner. (This was an excellent tour for a teenager because he got ice cream, pastries, and tacos.) Nico's a wonderful guide, pacing the tour to our needs, patiently answering questions, and sharing insightful information about Mexico's culinary history. Add in the amazingly delicious foods, and we highly recommend it!

This was one of the best food tours I've done. Nicco, the guide, gave a depth of insight into Mexican history, culture, and resilience through food. Santa Maria la Ribera is a hidden gem of a neighborhood in Mexico City, with an infectious local feel that will undoubtedly charm you. The small gourp nature of the tour (4 peopole max) will give you a rare, personalized experience unlike most tours you will encoutner while traveling.

Santa Maria de la Ribera is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Mexico City. Nico was very knowledgeable about the history of Mexico, Mexico City, and the neighborhood. It was a lovely day to walk around the peaceful neighborhood, stopping at different spots to learn about the dishes but also about the people making them. This was a great tour with a great guide!

We had a wonderful experience with Adrian. Not only did we have a great eating experience but we also learned so much spending time with an extremely knowledgeable and experienced chef- about food, culture and history.

Santa Maria neighbourhood is fantastic-- architecture, people, green space, markets. Adrian effortlessly took us to local and unique places. We really enjoyed our time with him. We will definitely contact him for our next tour when we are back in Mexico City. Thank you Adrian !

This tour was a great experience. Our guide Tonalli was very knowledgeable and took us to several excellent spots for tamales, barbacoa, machete, maiz y cacao, and more. The food was delicious, and our guide made the day a pleasant and fun time! We learned a lot about the local cuisine.

We loved our guide Nico! He was super friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. We visited seven restaurants and had a delicious time. Our favorite thing was walking through the local markets and see all of the colorful food.

We ate such yummy, authentic Mexican food. It is a fantastic tour and this was probably the highlight of our trip. I would recommend this highly. Don't miss it!

Most most enjoyable afternoon walk through a Mexico City neighborhood. Nico was a great guide. Combined the history of the La Ribera area with some stops along the way for sampling local foods. Would highly recommend.

Great tour. Went through a neighborhood that isn’t listed among the “popular” places to go which was a huge plus. Had the best barbacoa of my life (and I’ve had a lot) and an all around great time. Come hungry and pace yourself :)

My wife and I went on this tour as part of our first trip ever to Mexico City. We picked this one in the Santa Maria neighborhood because it was off the beaten path of many of the other tours offered by other companies. We had Nico as a guide and he definitely has the background for the job, with a degree in the culinary arts. That background certainly helped with the food tour but he also gave us an excellent background on some of the political turmoil of the last century or so, and how it was linked to the neighborhood. But that's not entirely why we went on a food tour, is it? The food on the tour was excellent. At one location, we had barbacoa taco's (and delicious soup) and he said they were the best he has ever had. I have to concur because during our trip I tried the same taco at 2 other locations and they were not as good as the ones we had on the tour. Nico also took us to a business that made nothing but tamales. They had about 20 variety's! They were excellent. There was much more food so, all in all, a great way to spend an afternoon.
