- OriD01020 contributionsSmall children and family- great experience! We had an incredible time through the Downtown Historical tour we took with Bikes and Munchies! Our party had four adults, a five-year-old, a four-year-old, and an 18-month-old. We were very fortunate to have had Elias as our guide and Andrew as support. Both were very personable, thoughtful, caring, and passionate about what they do. Elias is trained as a historian and it immediately showed. His extensive knowledge of art, monuments, and buildings was wonderfully matched by his enthusiasm for the subject matter. It was clear that leading tours is far more than a job for Elias; he truly loves what he does. I honestly could have spent far more hours than our tour allowed listening to him speak about each piece of art and every location we visited because his joy was that infectious. Andrew was a true child whisperer. Along the bike ride, he pumped Disney tunes that garnered many smiles from the children in our group, and he knew just how to talk to and interact with the children so that they felt right at home in the experience. He helped all the adults feel comfortable on bikes; he followed the group and helped us stay together where needed, and also blocked any oncoming traffic until we had all gone by where necessary. He also dutifully guarded the bikes and any belongings we wanted to leave behind whenever we went indoors so that we did not need to worry about anything! The food and drinks vendors that Elias and Andrew led us to were all delicious, clean, and outstanding- a much more local taste of Mexico than we would have known to find ourselves. This was a truly excellent experience and one that we recommend wholeheartedly.Written July 19, 2024
- 637karij0 contributionsA must do experience! This was the best bike tour I’ve ever taken! It was a great balance of biking, eating, and history told through the murals. Isaac and Valentino were excellent guides and very enjoyable hosts! I would highly-highly recommend this experience!Written July 8, 2024
- Fearless065388402920 contributionsCan’t Miss Mexico City Activities!I loved the Street Food Condesa and Roma Tour so much, I took another Bikes and Munchies Tour two days later! As a first time visitor to Mexico City, the Street Food tour provided a fantastic overview of the communities of Condesa and Roma. Our guides Fime and Sandy were warm knowledgeable and fun. From tamales to green juice at the Mercado Medellin to street tacos to churros and finally mezcal tasting, every stop was authentic and delicious. Loved learning more about Mexican history and culture as well as having the opportunity to ride around Parque Mexico and the beautiful forest trail around the Castle Chapultepec. Was very impressed with how seamlessly Fime and Sandy created a safe and fun environment as we rode through the busy avenues and leafy neighborhood streets. My second tour was the mural and History Tour with Isak and Sandy. Equally fantastic! Isak was a fabulous guide who presented the history of Mexico/Mexico City and Mexican Muralism in an engaging and fascinating way. We had multiple food stops to places I would never have found on my own. The tacos and tortas were phenomenal. One highlight was a visit to Pasteleria Ideal, one of the oldest bakeries in Mexico City. Highly recommend both tours!Written January 17, 2024
- jmjm3450 contributionsHands down must do tourHad a Centro tour with Isaak. He was very knowlegable and explained history and culture of Mexico very well. His selection of food was also very remarkable. All in all, I recommend doing this before venturing out to do Centro tour on your own.Written December 13, 2023
- S8313TLsusang0 contributionsA Great Choice for Your Visit to Mexico CityThis tour was fantastic and a great choice if you're looking for something different to do in Mexico City. Most food tours have too much food for me so this was a good alternative. The guides, Sebastian and Velia were amazing. They know so much about the history, culture and food of the area and you get a little of each along the way. They are also very friendly, easy-going and accommodating. I'm not the most athletic person and haven't been on a bike in a long time and it was very easy for me to do this tour. The bikes are like beach cruiser types - so easy and comfortable over all types of streets. There are stops along the way for food, a little history and a couple chances to stop and walk around a park and a market. It's really well paced. The route goes through beautiful neighborhoods. Sebastian helped block intersections so we could all go through together and you never feel unsafe or worried about navigating cars and pedestrians. The food was unique and interesting. Everything was tasty. They make sure to ask about food limitations and preferences and take that into account for each stop. I would definitely do this tour again and I highly recommend it to everyone.Written September 26, 2023
- nathanaI7584SE0 contributionsThank you Isaac and Mar! Perfect way to see the city and try new foods!Isaac and Mar were the most amazing and informative tour guides we could've asked for! Incredibly knowledgeable about the city, country, and food, and were so much fun to hang out with. Highly recommend this tour to get a great taste of the city and to meet some great guides.Written May 30, 2023
- Aapples20010 contributionsRam Tacos + mezcalSandy was our tour guide and we had a lovely time. Perfect balance of history and everyday life/casual conversation. So many great stops and so many scrumptious bites! Started off with tamales (3 types), jugo verde, blue corn quesadillas, mame/mango, tacos (my first time trying RAM!), ended with mezcal and crickets! We definitely got our miles in today!Written May 14, 2023
- harbutstl0 contributionsGreat experience!Isaac was just great. Very thoughtful in making sure we understood what we were looking at, lot of local flavor, great, great English. - 820meredithe0 contributionsMexico City Must-doThis tour was exceptional. Aside from the the history, we felt like we gained a lot more understanding of the Mexican culture from our very knowledgeable guides. We were able to taste foods we would not have found and tried on our own— all very good. We never felt unsafe on the bikes, and the guides were very personable and did everything to make the experience memorable.Written May 2, 2023
- alexandrasQ4047SD0 contributionsGreat way to experience the city centerThis experience came highly recommended to me from many travel-savvy friends - and they were right! This was my second tour with this company and it was a very different but equally special and enjoyable time. It was a great way to see some of the city’s most significant structures, landmarks, and art - all with the added appreciation provided by Elias’ interesting information and context. Thanks for another great day!Written March 27, 2023
- Alejandro T0 contributionsGreat experiences with both bike tours I didI recently did a CDMX CIty Center bike tour and enjoyed it so much that I also did the Roma and Condesa tour and both were very enjoyable experiences where I learned a lot more than I would have on my own and enjoyed delicious food. - rafaelrS3023LJ0 contributionsHighly recommendedI couldn’t have been more impressed and satisfied with this trip even if I planned for it. Elias was an absolutely amazing guide. Tailored perfectly for any group. I, along with the rest of the group felt completely safe riding around CDMX from one neighborhood to another. A tour for all fitness levels. The tour was well planned, full of historical information about CDMX and its amazing food, and delicious food! Thank you Elias and Daniel for an incredibly memorable adventure!Written March 7, 2023

- X2646JKkellyh0 contributionsThe best way to see the cityThis was one of my favorite experiences in Mexico City. Our meeting place was gorgeous. Upon arrival we were greeted and served a drink of choice. All of the food stops were phenomenal and we were served food I wouldn’t have ordered normally. Our guides were fun, easy to talk to and very knowledgeable. Biking through the city on a Sunday was the way to go. There was less traffic on the streets. On Sundays the locals enjoy outdoors, the streets close to traffic as hundreds of people run, bike, roller skate around the city. A beautiful way to experience the culture.Written January 18, 2023

Viva Isaac, Viva Sebastian, Viva Mexico!
5+++ tour… I learned a ton while eating my way through thousands of years of history and cuisine.
In 2010, UNESCO anointed Mexican cuisine as a cultural treasure…one of only two countries in the world (France is the other). “Bikes and Munchies” provides a glimpse into this treasure trove of foods…and why Mexican cuisine is NOT Tex-Mex. Mexico is proud of their ancestral heritage; they embrace their indigenous roots where as many countries worked so hard to eradicate. The bike tour serpentines through two large districts / boroughs not far from the city center – Roma and Condessa. This area is so beautiful it makes your eyes hurt. Imagine Central Park in NYC immersed with cafes, restaurants, exotic gardens… and friendly people. The weather was magnificent. For those who have never been to Mex City, altitude is ~7000 ft so you have free outside air conditioning.
Our two guides on the tour were Isaac and Sebastian. Both speak excellent English and were in essence - gems. One leads, the other trails in the back. The bike pace is light... comfortable to talk with partners. Their heads are on a swivel to ensure you are safe as you wind through parks and city streets…though we did not cross many busy intersections. You will learn from them! Both are proud of their country, culture, history and cuisine.
Anthony Bourdain once said, and I paraphrase – I have seen zero evidence of any nation in the world outside of Mexico that has a remote clue of what Mexican cuisine is about or how to reproduce it. For me he probably could have added a lack of knowledge of its rich history and culture. I highly recommend this tour… perhaps you too might be pleasantly surprised.

Fernando and Levi led us on a wonderful 5 hour bike tour of some of the best close-in neighborhoods in Mexico City. We tried mole tamales, chicharones, quesadillas, fresh juices, tacos, horchata, churros and other items while biking all over the Roma, Condesa and Chapultepec Park. One of my favorite stops was the basket tacos that a vendor was selling out of his bicycle. Fernando obviously loves what he does and gave us some great information about Mexico City and some history of the indigenous people of Mexico. I would absolutely take this tour again and highly recommend it for all visitors. Thank you Fernando and Levi!

We enjoyed the company of Isaac on a morning tour of Mexico City. He was very informative and made the very best of a difficult situation with CDMX being in lockdown due to covid-19. We had some amazing food and enjoyed a leisurely cycle around some of CDMX’s best neighbourhoods. We will definitely return to the City once is re-opens properly!

We had an amazing experience with our host Isaac. He was super knowledgeable and very friendly. We only had one day in Mexico City and we are so glad we did this! We got to see so much of the neighborhoods and of course tasted delicious authentic meals. It was an experience we couldn’t possibly do on our own in that amount of time. The tour orchestrator Paola was amazing and helped us connect with a guide the night before which we really appreciated. If you’re considering this tour, DO IT! You won’t regret it :) Thanks for everything!

We just returned from a belated 40th bday and unexpected engagement trip to Mexico City. We had such a great trip but our bike tour with Bikes and Munchies is hands down, our favorite way that we experienced the city. Not only was our guide Isaac extremely informative, we felt like we were not only in great hands, but like we were riding through the city with someone we already knew. I hate to pic one favorite moment but if I was forced to, the tamales were out of this world and biking through the grounds of Castle Chapultepec was magical. Tips for the bike ride:
1. Dress comfortably
2. We found it easiest to carry a backpack along the way to carry water, hand sanitizer, light jacket.
3. There are places along the way to use the restroom.
4. We were asked about food restrictions/allergies before our tour, which I found very thoughtful.
5. The bikes are comfy cruisers, super awesome.
6. The roads were almost all flat, except for parts in Chapultepec grounds, which made for a super easy ride.
7. I can only remember one scary moment when biking through the streets, but only because it was a high traffic area, and we are not avid cyclists, so it was a new experience for us. But aside from that, we felt super safe biking through the streets.
Everything was delicious, our tour guide was phenomenal, and the experience is hands down a must. Tourism is slow right now, our tour was just myself and my fiance, which was a nice treat for us, but would love to see them have more business. We purchased our tickets online and began our tour at 9:30AM. We loved every moment of this tour, I don't think we have anything negative to say about this tour or guide -- this was much more than we expected.

The Bikes & Munchies tour was the highlight of our trip to CDMX! Elias was an awesome guide! He was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Touring with Elias was like chatting with an old friend. We were the only two people on the tour so it was essentially a private tour! Elias was flexible with the itinerary and went out of his way to make sure that we saw the places we wanted to see in Mexico City and ate the munchies that we had been dying to try! This is a must do. We'll be back!

This bike ride was the highlight of our trip to Mexico City. Sebastian and Andre led a group of 6 of us around the city, stopping at beautiful sites and eating so much food. We tried all kinds of things including tamales, tlacayos, tacos, quesadillas, churros, chicarron, smoothies, mysterious fruit, fresh juices, beer, grasshoppers, mescal, & more. It was a great way to meet other travellers—we had time to connect with everyone over coffees and tamales before setting out on our bikes. I hadn’t ridden a bike in two years, but I felt so comfortable with this group. Sebastian and Andre shepherded us through the city and blocked cars at uncontrolled intersections. They were very friendly, informative, and more than happy to provide lots of recommendations after the tour. Bring a hat as you won’t have a helmet. Water was provided. Skip breakfast before you go. The small tour size meant you could always hear what was going on and stay together. Can’t recommend this enough!

We did this tour on our first day in Mexico City and it was a great way to get the lay of the land and start diving into the amazing food of CDMX. My husband and I have done bike tours all over the world, and this was easily the easiest biking we've done, owing to the fact that Mexico City is pretty darn flat. We also stopped a lot, and each food stop was delicious. I appreciated that our guides were eager to give us real insight into Mexico City and its people. Highly recommend!

This was a great way to see a part of Mexico City that can be a little intimidating at first, it's wealth of food stands! We started off our day with amazing tamales and coffee and then we embarked on our bike tour. Isaak and Sandy do a great job of making you feel at ease navigating the roads and traffic of CDMX and the ride was super easy with the city's flat terrain.
We sampled around 4 food stands while seeing the sights of the city and all of the food was unique and super tasty.
I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to experience the local food culture while seeing some of the sights of Roma and Condessa. To top it off, you couldn't ask for a better guide with Isaak and Sandy!

*Did any Americans have GI issues after this tour? Since we can’t handle the water and such
Written January 8, 2023
Not that I’m aware of- my husband and I were fine! This tour was all American tourists and they provided bottled water and filtered water on the tables. My perception is that in the touristy and higher end areas the water is pretty decent (well-filtered). I’d also suggest looking into taking rifaxamin prophylacticly as it is indicated to prevent travelers diarrhea!
Written January 11, 2023
Yes, for the most part the food was pretty mild. In most cases you could add whatever hot sauces you want or leave them off entirely.

Estamos muy interesados en tomarlo!
