Great learning experience with a fantastic guide
Had the best time and we learned so much! Gerardo was the most knowledgeable and attentive guide for a small group of us (3 English speakers). There was a separate guide for the 4 Spanish speakers in our group. His extensive knowledge of the Mexican history matched with his passion for this topic made this a superb experience. It was also a great idea to go on this early morning tour to avoid the heat & the beating sun later in the day. The stop at the “makers market” at the was also interesting but no pressure to buy.

        Amazing visit and tour guide
Gerardo was our guide for the day. We first went to Cholula to visit the Santuario de la Virgen de los Remedios, a magnificent place with breathtaking views of the mountains, volcano, and the cities of Puebla and Cholula. Then, we saw the exterior of the Cholula pyramid (no need to enter the site itself as it's visible from the outside). We strolled through the city and visited the Templo de Santa Maria Tonantzintla, an incredible and meaningful place. Gerardo has extensive knowledge and draws our attention to specific details. Later, we explored the city of Puebla. We had lunch at a highly recommended restaurant by Gerardo and continued our city tour (including the Metropolitan Cathedral of Puebla, El Parian market, and Zocalo). Gerardo is passionate, answering all your questions and adding significant depth to your visits. We're happy to have met you, Gerardo!

        Highly Recommend
Our guide was knowledgeable and kept us engaged the entire trip. I have been on many tours in many places, and this tour was one of the best. The sites were incredible, but our guide, Ramon and driver Lorena, made it unforgettable. I highly recommend this tour.

Delightful outing with a minor irritant
We were very impressed with the enthusiasm and vast knowledge of our guide Gerardo, and learned and experienced a lot on this excursion to Xochimilco and Coyoacan. We were taken aback though by one man who sat with us in the boat during the whole Xochimilco outing, and revealed his true motives at the end, when he opened a briefcase full of jewelry and prevailed on us to buy something. Hence only four stars.

        Tekpan tour of Teotihuacan: Excellent!
My adult daughter and I participated in this excellent and informative tour. The Pyramids are so worth a trip, and they were the highlight of our 7 day trip to Mexico City. I highly recommend doing this trip early in the day, as we did, because there were fewer other people and it was easier to see the various sites. Our guide - Yuevuen - was wonderful because he was so well informed about the Pyramids and so engaging. He really made the trip exceptional. And the others in our group were interested, interesting, and enthusiastic. They added to our enjoyment of the tour. We stopped at the Mayahuel restaurant for lunch, where we had an excellent meal. As a vegetarian, I was pleased to have several excellent options, and my lunch was delicious. Tekpan communications with us were very good.

Had a great time and learned so much!
We had an amazing time on this tour. Jun took great care of us and was very attentive. I highly recommend going to the pyramids early in the day when the weather is cooler. That alone made the experience. Jun was so knowledgeable and answered all our questions. We also liked that the driver Pepe drove carefully and very safely. All around excellent experience!

Monarchs & Patzcuaro 3 Day Private Tour
My husband and I booked a three day private tour with Mariana. I was a bit nervous before meeting Mariana in person and commented to my husband that I hoped we liked her because it could be a long three days if our personalities didn’t mesh. We hit the jackpot! Mariana was a delightful person with whom to spend several days. As for the usual guide stuff, she speaks excellent English and is incredibly knowledgeable. Besides that, Mariana was just fun to be with. We talked and laughed the entire time. My husband said his ears hurt from listening to Mariana and me talking non-stop. :) Mariana picked us up at our CDMX accommodations and drove us to the Santa Rosario Monarch Preserve. We had a magical afternoon viewing the butterflies, enjoying a delicious enchilada lunch, and stopping at one of the Pueblos Magicos. From there we continued to Pátzcuaro. Mariana and I had spent the previous 4 weeks emailing back and forth discussing the communities and artisans we were interested in visiting. Because of her background and knowledge of the region she had some interesting and unique connections of people to visit to make our time more special. We spent two days exploring many of the nearby pueblos and artisans. From going to the home/studio/private gallery of Juan Torres to meeting a master weaver Carlos who hand dyes wool with natural coloring and creates beautiful ponchos and blankets it was an incredible two days. We visited the workshop of a master woodcarver (masks), other artisans who created different types of pottery, embroidery, paper made from the lily plants from the lake, a copper studio, and a family who hand makes the straw hats you see all around Mexico. We stopped at churches, museums and markets. Wow! That was a lot to accomplish in two days. We would never have been able to have those wonderful experiences without Mariana’s knowledge. If you are wanting to expand your visit beyond Mexico City don’t hesitate to contact Mariana. She will work hard to create the type of tour and experience you would like. Thank you, Mariana!

Respect for Ancient Mexicans to have built this Complex over 2000 years ago!
We had a wonderful visit with our guide Pepe to the Teotihuacan pyramids. Pepe's explanation of the history of the complex, the religious significance and the extent of the ancient settlement made it an exciting day out. Pepe was very personable and his wider knowledge about worldwide current affairs and life in general added to the perspective of the development of modern day Mexico and its various people. We would recommend this trip for anyone who likes history and architecture and wants to understand how Mexico evolved over the last 2000+ years. Start early around 7am to avoid the crowds and the heat. Lunch was at a charming local restaurant near the complex.

        Best tour we have done!
This is by far one of the best tours we have done. Our guide spoke amazing english, had a great sense of humour, and was incredibly knowledgeable about the areas we went to. We’ve done tours like this in the past in other countries where we’ve been taken to places and felt pressured to buy things, never once did this happen on this tour. We were asked if we wanted to go somewhere in particular for lunch, we were happy to take our guides recommendation and it was amazing food. He even pointed out some places nearby where we’re staying so we will probably try them out too! We loved every minute of it, can’t recommend this tour enough :)

Trek to the Pyramids of Teotihuacan
There are three requirements I have for a good tour: a knowledgeable guide, an interesting site, and good traveling companions. Yunuen, our guide, was the best we could have asked for: as a professor of anthropology his explanations and awareness gave us the tools to examine pre-Hispanic history on our own. Similarly, the pyramids were huge and the historical and modern day relevance runs deep, both my mom and I were enthralled by the degree to which both had been “updated” by the state and archaeologists of Mexico. Finally, our group was composed of so many unique people from all walks of life that we had an enjoyable trek while expanding our understanding of Mexico before the Aztecs!

        Disappointing
Our guide barely spoke English. At the beginning of the tour we wasted about 20 minutes on the background of the site, which could have been done on the 1 1/2 hour bus ride. We raced through the site and had to hurry to keep up with the guide, who then barely explained what we were seeing. After about 2 hours, we had to meet at the parking lot and then were driven to a restaurant/gift shop where we spent another 1 1/2 hours eating mediocre food and having to listen to loud mediocre musicians and even louder "Inca" dancing. Not particularly recommended.

Xochimilco & Coyoacán - great day
This was a fantastic day. Very relaxing on the boat - Xochimilco. Amazing how they manage to move these boats , especially when it’s almost gridlock at points. Eric our guide was also great , went out of his way to show us the best of Mexican food in Coyoacán. Gave us lots of information. Let us walk around by ourselves when we wanted to. Can’t recommend Eric enough.

I hate to leave a poor review, but in this case, I have to. Our guide was very sweet, but her English was poor and several people in our group of eight, could not understand her. There was no microphone or apparatus for amplifying the sound volume on the bus and those of us in the back had difficulty hearing her at all. In addition, she was not able to engage her audience and therefore came across as boring.
We specifically chose this tour in order not to spend time at tourist gift shops or any locations other than the pyramids and the museum. The tour description stated that it was for the pyramids only, but we also stopped at a convenience store, and a gift shop. Although we were all exhausted (it had been 8+ hours since pickup already), we stopped at a tourist trap at which there was a presentation by staff at the gift shop which involved a lot of standing and explanations of crafting which and none of us could understand. The pyramids are totally awesome, but I suggest finding a different tour company.

Thanks for taking the time to provide us with feedback. We are constantly seeking to improve the quality of our tours. We are very sorry the tour was not as expected but we believe that there was also lack of your communication from your side. Related to our tour not having microphone, we believe there is no need for that as we work with smalls groups and we star early to beat the crowds so everyone have a great experience. To be honest this is the first time any of our customer complains about it and we are surprised about it. Requesting feedback to your guide, she said no comments during the tour about her voice tone being adequate were made at all. We apologize about the stop in the workshop and gift shop, we included as indicated in the itinerary description. Customers, sometimes, ask to skip them and we do so as this is a private tour and we are more than happy to accommodate any customer's requirements but in this case, no communication about this was received to either at the moment of booking or directly to your guide. Also, as per your guide's feedback, the group seem to enjoy the presentation about natural pigments and craft liquors. We have passed all these feedback to your guide and she is sorry that her tour did not fulfilled your expectations but she will take this into account to help her improve as a guide. Regards,

My mom and I booked the private tour for this past weekend, and had a wonderful time with our guide Monse. She met us at our hotel at precisely 7am, and we drove about an hour in a clean van with a professional driver. Monse was bright and bubbly, and brought the ruins to life with her knowledge. She also helped us take some great pictures. It was good that we arrived so early, because we left the ruins around 11am, just as it started getting crowded. After the ruins, we stopped at a shop to learn about uses for cactus and bought a few souvenirs, and then stopped for lunch before heading back to the hotel. Monse was very flexible, and allowed us to adjust our itinerary to suit our likes. Would highly recommend!

Pepe was a great guide. We got the private car and tour. We are older so we asked in advance to have a shorter tour that started at 9:00 am. It's the same price and totally worth it as you get to see the same Teotihuacan without waiting around or down time. We went April 2022 and the museum next to the step pyramids is open again. Pepe well explained its contents in perfect English.

We had a SPECTACULAR tour of Teotihucan with Mario Romero through Tekpan Tours! My fiancee and I booked a private tour for just the two of us, and we had a stellar experience with Mario taking care of all the details, from pickup/dropoff, admission, lunch, snacks, and water, he came prepared to make the most of our day together!

Mario was extremely informative, not just on the history of this archaeological site, but also gave us valuable context about the history of Mexico City in general. He was incredibly helpful through the process, having arrived early to pick us up before rush hour traffic and knowing all the lesser known hacks that helped make sure our tour was without stress or worry.

On top of all his knowledge, Mario is infinitely personable, funny, warm, and inviting. He took strides to ensure we would have the best possible experience, and we did! Even though Teotihucan has various closures right now due to COVID (the museums, for instance), Mario maximized our time and made sure we covered every interesting nook and cranny of the site. I highly recommend him, and we hope he can guide us on future tours as well.

This was our first trip to the Teotihuacan Pyramids. Our tour guide Frank picked us up from our VRBO on time. He was extremely accommodating and very knowledgeable! On the way we stopped at a gas station that had a great coffee shop across the parking lot. We also got bottles of water (a must - it got very hot at the pyramids and there is very little shade). Highly recommend bringing sunscreen, a hat or an umbrella. Wear comfortable shoes (don’t recommend sandals) and light clothes. This is a walking tour so be prepared for a lot of walking and climbing narrow steep steps. Unfortunately the Sun & Moon Pyramids are closed for climbing but there are still a few other smaller ones to climb. We took our 9 year old son and he did great! Also saw a lot of younger kids there too! A great family day trip!

For lunch we ate at La Gruda, an awesome cave restaurant with fun cocktails and good food near the Pyramids. Highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time as the wait can be long (1-2 hours on the weekend. 30 mins - 1 hour on a weekday).

Overall we truly enjoyed our private tour! Thank you Frank for sharing your knowledge and passion with us!

Wow, what a great time we had on this tour! Pepe was the perfect guide for us -- he is full of energy, passion and good humor, and really brought the beautiful Teotihuacan site to life for us. He offered to stop for espresso on the way there, and gave us a choice of what to do after seeing the main site. We loved spending the day with him, and let me tell you, going first thing in the morning was the way to do it. Far fewer crowds, and the heat wasn't yet unbearable. But still, bring a hat, sunscreen, water and snacks, because it's a long day. Highly recommend going with Tekpan Tours for an easy, fun experience. Loved the door to door service!

We are so glad we booked this tour, it was the highlight of our time in Mexico City. Communication was easy via WhatsApp and we were picked up at our hotel on time. Our guide Sara was engaging, knowledgeable and helped us visualize this amazing city. We also enjoyed how she organized the tour and the sequence of seeing the sites. Our driver Gabriel was very friendly and knowledgeable as well, the ride was comfortable in a nice vehicle with the offer to stop as we needed for any food or bathroom breaks. And FYI, there is no toilet paper available at the bathrooms on site, We believe it is well worth the extra expense to have a private tour of this incredible place!!!

Monse was a wonderful guide and Luis a great driver. We had an early pickup from our hotel at 7am, after a quick coffee stop we were at Teotihuacan at 8.15am as it opened. Great way to avoid the crowds and the heat

Monse was really friendly and knowledgeable with a genuine interest for what she was showing us, as well as wider culture and history of the country. I would really recommend getting a guided tour for this as the information available on site is very limited, and you learn so much more this way!

We spent ~2.5h on site. At the end of the tour there was a visit to an obsidian factory - we didn’t have anything to buy so spent just 5min here

There was an option to have lunch locally but we chose instead to come back to Mexico City and do our own thing - really appreciated that Monse gave us the choice for what we wanted to do here vs other tours which are more rigid and want you to eat at their choice of restaurant

Wonderful visit - would really recommend Monse as a guide!!

Having a private tour of Teotihuacan with Tekpan Tours is well worth the extra expense; they'll pick you from your hotel, customize what they share with you based on your interests, and pace the tour based on your needs (for instance, my 73 year old mother needed a break halfway through the tour due to arthritic knees).

My family and I were astonished by the wealth of knowledge our guide, Roger, knew about the place, and ancient history more broadly. On his own accord he grouped us together to take photos at the best views on the site (helpful for our family who is not organized enough to remember to take group photos on holiday!).

I felt bad looking at the herds of people on other tours trying to hear the guide over one another. Teotihuacan is a once in a lifetime experience, so splurge on this tour!

We went on this tour with Alma who was fabulous, she had perfect english and knew everything there was to know about the pyramids. Both Alma and Gabriel the driver where on time, very clean car and gave us a excellent commentary during the drive. Thank goodness we left at 7am and climbed the pyramids early because as we were leaving the traffic just to park was a couple of kilometers long as well as queues just to climb. Once at the pyramids Alma was very informative, taking care with us when we climbed, took pics of my husband & I for us and made sure we didn't miss anything. I would highly recommend this tour, thank you Alma we really enjoyed the day.
