A fantastic way to get oriented and learn!
I participated in four Estatcion Mexico Walking Tours. I’ll review them all here (as Trip Advisor won’t allow you to review more than once in a short period of time.)

First: I participated in the walking tour of Centro Historico in CDMX, today with Javier. It was SO great. First because of the ongoing Independence Day celebrations, our meeting point was inaccessible. I was able to text the number on the website and get connected with my guide. Javier is passionate about his city, it’s architecture and the culture of Mexico. I learned about the buildings, their style, influential presidents who built them, why the area is laid out as it is and all sorts of other useful tidbits.

Javier pointed out the emergency poles around the city that have free WiFi and button to press for aid. He warned us of bad neighborhoods, how to travel safely and what to look for a street food stall. He recommended restaurants and answered any questions I had. I had many. LOL.

Second: I took the Taco Walking Tour in Centro Historico, again with Javier. The tour was fantastic. I learned about great taco stands, different types of tacos, and how to spot good stand when out and about. I also learned about etiquette when there. The tour was great and we had some time afterwards so Javier kindly showed me how the Metro system worked, how to purchase a transit card and about the women-only cars on the trains. It was another fantastic tour!

Third: I paid for the tour to Teotihuacan. This time my guide was Elias. Elias was at the spot where we was supposed to be and was a great guide. He began by setting expectations for us, and planting some seeds to keep us curious. I love that we took the city bus and regional bus like the locals would. I would not have enjoyed the Teotihuacan site without a guide. The information Elias shared enriched the experience. He had maps, photos, and was even able to update us on the most recent excavations. Elias answered all of my crazy questions and was super patient.

When you go on this tour: Pack sunscreen! Bring a hat, it is hot and there is no shade. You’ll also be walking about 3 miles. If the pyramids are open for climbing, know that they’re 200 feet tall with high, narrow steps. There is are places to buy water/hats/junk before entering the site, but not once you’re inside. The fee you pay, includes the price of your transportation.

Fourth: I paid for the market tour. I’m so glad I had a guide on this one too! It was Elias again and he was just as knowledgeable about the mercados as he was about the pyramids. We went to very large market that was both for produce and flowers. It was a wild maze! We had tacos, tepache,, corn and candies! The flower market was my favorite part! I would have been overwhelmed doing this by myself. Your fee pays for the price of the tacos, and tastings at various stalls.

What are you waiting for? Book some tours! (And don’t forget to tip your guides!)

Ask for Alejandro!
Alejandro was the perfect guide! Very knowledgeable and passionate about Mexico City! We walked around Coyoacán and I learned so much about the area. I was having a rough afternoon and since it was just him and myself he was very adaptable to my needs. I would book with him again!

Amazing Local Market Experience
Dec 2019 • Solo
First of..I booked this trip through my hotel at Selina Mexico City. The start was a bit rocky since I didn't find the actual tour leader who was supposed to wear a pink T-shirt at the meeting point, but instead, I was met by Ms. Carmina. Let me tell you....I'm SO happy she was my tour leader. It ended up being 2 other ladies who joined the group and they happened to be her aunt and cousin. It became am amazing ladies lunch get together and shopping in the most amazing market (imho) in Mexico City.

We visited Mercado Jamaica and right off the bat I was led to a taco stall specializing in barbequed lamb. I had the Taco Barbacoa and the consomme soup...it was delicious! We then walked to various stalls selling chicaron, mole, chilies, all manner of home gadgets, pinatas and my personal favorite...the Flower Market. This market operates 24hrs...just walking through the flower market is mind boggling
The florists actually live above their stalls so as to keep up with customer demands...truly amazing. The best part was this market is clean. I did not see any flies, stray dogs, not smelly...truly a wonderful experience.

I really am so grateful that Carmina brought her family along for the tour since they too wanted to visit the market. It ended up being a great experience for me learning about Mexican celebration for Xmas, the amazing food experience and the Mexican hospitality. I highly recommend Estacion Mexico and do ask for Carmina as your tour lead.

Excellent Tour!
Nov 2019 • Couples
We met with Carmina who told us we were the only ones signed up, so we got a private tour today! It was easy to find the meeting point, and it was nice to see everything with the help of a local. We know some Spanish, but not enough for a trip like this. Carmina was very helpful, told us history about the market, as well as showing us new fruits, vegetables, and flowers. She then helped us get back to our hotel on the subway--which was very helpful! Carmina was so kind, very informative, and happy to answer all of our questions. We highly recommend this tour!

A must see to fully appreciate the markets!
Jun 2018 • Family
We loved this tour! It allowed us to experience the subway and the markets of Mexico City. Our guide, Celeste, did such a fantastic job of highlighting the different things we saw at the markets. She let us sample all kinds of foods. We even had lunch inside the market and watched them prepare our food. Wear your walking shoes-the market is very big! The flowers are breathtaking. The smells, the sights, the excitement-unforgettable! I highly recommend this tour, and would do it again when I return to visit Mexico CIty. Be sure to ask for Celeste, she was a great guide!
