      All kinds of fun!
Unbelievably fun evening. If you like to have a good time, with a great guide (Andres) then this tour is definitely money well spent! We thoroughly enjoyed the mezcal and the Lucha Libre at the Arena was an evening of great, laughter filled fun. We’ll definitely go again next time we’re in CDMX👍🏾

Best way to start your trip in Mexico City with Mariel
Our guide was Mariel, and she was very knowledgeable about the Mexican history, and was passionate to share it with the group. This is probably the best way to start a trip in Mexico City, especially if you didn’t know much about their history and culture.

      An excellent tour--worth every penny!
We considered visiting this area without a guide, and we are so glad we didn't! Our guide, Emiliano, was so knowledgeable and thorough -- we learned much more than we would have relying on a guidebook. We covered all the major historic spots, and as a bonus learned something about great places to eat. Emiliano was very attentive to the needs of the whole group, making sure we had time to get water and take bathroom breaks. There are lots of people on the Zocalo trying to get your attention and sell you stuff, including guided tours--we were relieved that we already had a guide so we didn't get bothered.

      Teotihuacan Experience
Mexico a Pie also offers private tours to Teotihuacan, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish! The driver, Juan, and guide, Oscar, picked us up directly from our hotel in Condesa without any hassle. Initially, we considered visiting Teotihuacan on our own to avoid the big tour buses and stops to souvenir shops or other tourist traps, but we decided that having a knowledgeable guide and easy travel made all the difference. Oscar's deep understanding of Teotihuacan's history and culture significantly enhanced our experience, providing context and insights that we would have missed otherwise. We highly recommend Mexico a Pie for anyone looking to explore Teotihuacan, with no nonsense or stops at any souvenir shops along the way. We also visited the Basilica of Guadalupe on the way back. The combination of a safe driver and an expert guide made for a seamless and enriching tour, and we can't recommend them enough!

      History of Mexico 101
Can’t say enough good things about this tour. We did the Historic Downtown Tour, our guide EMILIANO, was truly outstanding. Not only did we get in depth knowledge on the sites visited, he was incredible in bringing the rich history of Mexico to life in relation to the sites visited. Excellent.

Great Tour. Definitively take this tour on day one.
When you first get somewhere new I learned that it’s best to get a tour so then you can do a more leisurely tour after. This did not disappoint. I learned so much and got all the tips on where to go next and there was a religious ceremony happening and we got to see the altars and parade. It was very memorable tour. And the tour guid gave us his number if we needed any help.

      A Memorable Tour!
Estefanie was our wonderful tour guide. She was so knowledgeable about the history, architecture, culture of the different eras of the downtown area and of Mexico in general. She had great communication skills and her personality was the best. She made the whole tour so memorable and meaningful. I want to learn more about Mexico. Highest praise and recommendation for Estefanie!

      Lucha Libre!
This night was Awesome! From the start with the Mezcal tasting to get us warmed up and then heading to the Lucha Libre event. Having seen a couple of matches on tv when I was a kid and then to see it live, it is a total different experience! Thank you Andres for the incredible night, I definitely want to see another Lucha Libre event! Would recommend to everyone.

Oscar showed us the greatness of Mexico’s history
Oscar was a great guide. He was both knowledgeable and passionate about Mexico’s past. We came away with deeper appreciation for the brilliance of past civilizations and why Mexicans are so proud of their history.

I had a 6 hour layover in Mexico City and Mexico a Pie made it happen! My driver Fernando got me where I needed to be both ways. I spent 2+ fantastic hours with Daniela learning about Aztec Culture, the history of Mexico and eating some awesome tacos. Very professional and thoughtful experience! I only had a little bit of time and of course need to come back for a full visit - but this quick tour was so much better than waiting in the airport.

I had a 5 hour layover in Mexico City and wanted to make good use of my time. I had read that I could Uber into the city and walk around myself. Then I saw this trip on this site and decided I wanted to do. For some reason I couldn’t book it online and I called customer service, they quickly resolved the problem and booked me for the following day. I got a text from the local (Ana was great too) representative about who my driver would be and who my tour guide would be. Jair my driver arrived at the airport on time and was friendly and social. My tour guide Brenda was a smart and very informative guide who knew so much about historic downtown Mexico City. I had such a good time and learned so much from Brenda! She even took me some side streets to do some quick shopping. Jair got me back to the airport on time. Thank you all!

To save money, my friend and I opted for a long layover in Mexico City. Thankfully we found Mexico a Pie, since all museums are closed on Mondays, and we wouldn't know how to spend 13 hours in CDMX on our own. Fernando picked us up at the airport. He was very easy to find and arrived right on time. He drove us downtown to meet our guide, Monica. She was full of energy, even at 8 in the morning, and didn't mind that we were still waking up. We started at the Metropolitan Cathedral and she began giving us the history of the city. She would make an excellent teacher. We walked through the streets of the city center as she told us stories and pointed out parts of the architecture. Then we went into the Secretariat of Public Education's Main Headquarters. Seemed like a strange place to visit, but it turns out that it is filled with murals by Diego Rivera. Visiting all three floors is optional, but be sure not to miss the Day of the Dead and Arsenal frescos (the latter features Frida Kahlo). Throughout the day, Monica learned about our interests and pacing and was tailoring the tour to fit us. She took us to the perfect place for lunch (street tacos are a must). She also took us to the Latin-American Tower to visit their outdoor cafe. A free way to see the city from above. It felt like these were things only a local would know. At the end of the day, Fernando picked us up and drove us back to the airport. He stored our luggage for the day, one less thing to worry about, and we arrived with plenty of time for our flight. This tour just whetted our appetite and made us realize that we MUST come back to Mexico City for a longer visit.

Thank you so much for your kind comments! It is very important for us that you feel safe, comfortable, and not rushing in Mexico City while you’re in a layover. Hopefully – as you say – you will come back to Mexico City for a greater experience! Gracias for walking with us!

I did the free walking tour in the city with Julio. He was very knowledgeable, spoke good english and gave a lot of insight in to the history, architecture, but also gave some recommendations on food and culture. Really enjoyed the tour, couldn't have been better and certainly recommend to do it when coming to Mexico City.

We had a long layover in Mexico City returning from Santiago to Montreal, and were not looking forward to long, boring hours in the airport. Instead, we booked a tour with Mexico a Pie, and turned what could have been a significant waste of time into a wonderful introduction to Mexico City. Fernando picked us up at the airport and scheduled, and took us downtown, where we met Emiliano, our guide for the day. Emiliano tailored the tour to our interests / desires (starting with great coffee and breakfast in an atmospheric old building, necessitated by our very early arrival in the city!). We spent our time walking around the city, learning about the history, culture and architecture, exploring amazing buildings, and markets selling local produce and handicrafts. We topped off our visit with an incredible taco lunch, after which Fernando delivered us back to the airport in perfect time to check-in for our flight home. It was a fantastic way to spend the day!

This was a wonderful way to spend a few hours in Mexico City. I hadn't been there before and Monica my guide, was helpful, informative and fun. She accommodated my numerous food stop requests and gave a really good insight into the history of the city. She was great! Highly recommend this tour for anyone, not just layovers.

I hardly ever write reviews. This is probably one of the first ones. Had to mention what a good experience we had with Andre. He gave a really good customized walking tour to match our speed and preferences, which is a must when traveling with kids. Every stop was very informative with rich historical and cultural references by Andre.

Our flight landed at 5pm or so and we were already on our way to the city by 5.45pm. We spent 4+ hours in the city including an awesome taco dinner.

We are returning to another tour with this company on our next stopover next week and can’t wait for another great experience.

    Highly recommended.

I booked this tour directly with the company, Mexico A Pie, not as a layover tour, but as our tour of the downtown area. Our guide, Emiliano, spoke perfect English and was knowledgeable, engaging, and full of excellent advise on places to eat.
(We also took a tour of Teotihuacan with this same company a day earlier - also amazing). I HIGHLY recommend this tour company!

Oh! WOW where to start, first let me tell you that this was a last minute well done decision, which not always turns out well, but this was not the case this time. We had a wonderful time, my son (10 y) and I. Everything was planned accordingly to our flights time, Fernando our driver was waiting for us, was very kind and knowledgeable. Then we’ve met our guide, Andres, he was very kind as well and flexible, he’s an excellent guide knows well all the story of each site. I was particularly interested in seeing Diego Rivera murals and we were able to visit the ones located in the presidential palace, possible the most iconic, the explanation were extensive and interesting, my 10 y was very interested and asked questions all the time. Andres was able even to find excellent food options s for us as I’m a vegetarian and my 10 y is a very picky eater. After finishing Fernando found us and drive us back to the airport. Wonderful experience very recommended!

Gracias Luisa! Thanks for choosing walking with us in Mexico City instead of waiting for your flight at the airport. We’re glad to hear that we fulfilled yours and your son’s expectations – of history but most importantly for food! Hopefully you will look for us when you decide to come back to Mexico City! We had a layover from Puerto Escondido to Montreal. We had the chance to do a tour with Ana and we were happily satisfied with all that she taught us in the short amount of time we had during our layover. Very friendly and professional, this was somehow a private history lesson of Mexico. We highly recommend it!
