        Must do
This was one of the best tours I’ve ever done. Pao was a great tour guide. Very well versed and engaging with all of us on the tour. I felt like I learned a lot from her. I believe I drivers name was Juan, apologies if I have it wrong but I felt very safe with his driving. You will have access to places most don’t while in CDMX. I definitely will be taking a different version of their tour when I come back. Gracias

        Private Mexico City Neighborhood Tour
8/27/24- We took a private Mexico City Neighborhoods Tour with Andres, our tour guide, and the very gregarious driver, Luis! They were both a joy to spend a beautiful day with! They picked us up in a bright orange VW Combi van and showed us the highlights of Mexico City. My sister has some mobility issues and they were very helpful and patient with getting her as close to the sites as possible. They gave us time to explore and shop as we wanted, also. Andres, who is a professor of architecture, gave us a nice historical overview of the city and lots of interesting information. We saw the Zocalo, Centro, enjoyed views of the city from a rooftop restaurant. We had a beautiful lunch at a hacienda in San Angel from Andres recommendation. 10/10 I completely recommend a tour with The Traveling Beetle! Andres and Luis were amazing and it was a day well spent.

        Amazing, fantastic, incredible
I can’t wait to come back to Mexico City to do more tours with Traveling Beetle. Fantastic experience all around and topped off by the wonderfully restored VW van we were carted around in. The tour was incredible. I highly recommend for any and all architecture buffs out there!

Best Tour in Mexico City? Quite Possibly!
Our tour was so fantastic in 2023 that when we returned to Mexico City in 2024, we had to book another! This time we went on The Luis Barragán Tour (Private Tour), making stops at all of the locations that were open during the first week of the new year. If traveling to Mexico in early January make note that many destinations may be closed. Traveling Beetle tour guide Andres was so impressive on our first excursion that I couldn't imagine riding with anyone else for our next. Thankfully he was available for this tour! It was another magical day exploring the magnificent creations of Luis Barragán. As anticipated, Andres was superb in sharing the history of the iconic architect, guiding us through the city with the utmost care and attention to detail. It was an unforgettable tour that I give my highest recommendation. Cannot wait to return for another round. Muchas gracias Traveling Beetle!

Luis Barragan's Pink Parts (Satellite Towers & Cuadra San Cristóbal Tour)
No person in the history of tour guides has been, or ever will be, as amazing as Miguel. We had a wonderful and informative visit to three Barragan sites. As a working architect, Miguel offered interesting anecdotal and historically relevant information that provided a memorable experience for us. He was sensitive to our needs and has a solid sense of humor. We felt very relaxed. Take this tour and tip well!

        Next-level travel experience
The Traveling Beetle is a next-level tour experience. The guides (in the case of our Northern Barragan tour, Luis) are so much more than guides. For example, Luis is a practicing architect with a scholar's understanding of Barragan's work and its historical/social context. But while he delivered first rate intellectual content, he did so with the verve and personality of someone you might hope to have as a friend if you lived in CDMX. I'd take all of the company's tours if I had the time.

Fun way to learn about architecture and see CDMX
Really great experience at the TOWERS OF SATÉLITE & CUADRA SAN CRISTÓBAL TOUR. Our guide Martin was very knowledgeable and answered our questions about the architecture and about Mexico City itself. Easy communication with the booking agents before the tour, too. Muchas gracias to guide Martin and driver Alex for a great tour!

        Great value for non-Spanish speakers
We took the Southern Barragan Tour yesterday. Like the Northern Barragan Tour was 3 days ago, this was excellent. Paulina provided an architect + interior designer's professional insight, interpreting at Capuchins and guiding at Pedregal and Gilardi. She directed our fantastic lunch experience, and she and driver Juanito stayed late while we ordered takeout from the same place, then drove us to our next Airbnb. Juanito kept our 3 bags of soft luggage safe all day in the trunk of the charming convertible Beetle. Paulina introduced us to and debriefed us on the sites while driving, and even squeezed in two art gallery visits enroute to Casa Gilardi. Very professional all round.

        Great introduction to Mexico City!
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the City Neighborhoods tour. Louis was a wonderful guide for the day, full of interesting and relevant info on city history and the current challenges the city is facing. CDMX is huge and congested and our driver “the other Louis” piloted us to both the southern and northern reaches of the city, where we toured some wonderful neighborhoods on a busy Saturday, walked through numerous vibrant markets and several museums and had lunch at a great taqueria. It was a fun day, and the three additional tour guests in our VW bus helped create a lively congenial tour.

        Cuadra San Cristobal Tour
I was looking forward to visiting some of Barragan's works, and this tour did not disappoint. Miguel our our guide and Alejandro our driver were absolutely the best! Definitely made some friends. We learned so much! Got in a lot of the city as well so that was a plus, also further recommendations. Would definitely recommend!

        Amazing day, amazing architecture!
Did the Barragan North Tour with our guide Andres and our drive Luis and they were both so lovely, knowledgeable and fantastic! We didn't opt for the picnic lunch but they recommended a great seafood and taco spot for us to eat mid-day! Even though it is a jam-packed day it flew by and we were so happy with all we got to see and experience. Highly recommend!

We visited Barragán architectures with Andres and Luis in a lovely blue volkswagen camping van. The trip was fantastically organized, the weather was perfect, pace was just right. We study architecture (just like Andres did) and we love Andres’ archive of black and white photos, resources, and knowledge about just any nice buildings in CDMX, always well-articulated and fun. Andres was a great photographer, the candid photos he took for us during the trip are gold. I would recommend to every one who wants to closely look at the amazing works of Barragán.

We had the Luis Barragan Tour. We had a great tour guide who was very enthusiastic about the topic and easily explained everything flawlessly in multiple languages. He created a camaraderie amongst the small group and made the experience intimate. Best tour guide I’ve had.

My wife and I had a wonderful day with Luis, touring various Barragan homes and gardens. From the time we were picked up in the VW bus at our hotel, we were enveloped in Luis's knowledge and passion for the architecture of Barragan and Mexico. Luis, who is a practicing architect, gave us incredibly useful historical and architectural background as we made our way to each property, and then provided detailed tours at each site. We had lots of time at each site and were never rushed. We also had time to talk with Luis about a range of other subjects about Mexico and Mexico City more broadly.

Our southern route Luis Barragan tour with Martin was excellent. Martin was a super host and tour guide who not only knew the architecture inside and out, he also got to know our tastes and provided stops at a gallery and excellent restaurant. We had our 6-year-old son with us who used the provided notebook for sketching all along the way. The VW was nicely restored and was a great ride. We will definitely come back for the northern tour next time we are in Mexico City!

What a phenomenal experience! We took the Satellite Towers & Cuadra San Cristóbal Tour and had the best experience. Alfonso, who was our guide, was so full of knowledge about Luis Barragán. He was so accommodating, fun, and helpful. I highly recommend anyone who is a design aficionado to take this tour.

We're a group of 7 women, all in our 70s, and chose to spend the last day of our 2-week Mexican holiday on a Traveling Beetle tour. Our expert and delightful drivers Juan and Luis picked us up at our hotel at 9 a.m. in a vintage red Beetle convertible and a vintage VW van with a large sunroof. Martin, our guide, is a professional architect and an engaging and compelling teacher. He shared his deep understanding of Luis Barragan's approach to architecture on tours of 3 masterpiece buildings: a convent and 2 residences. We had tried and failed to get access to these buildings on our own, and thank goodness, because our experience was infinitely richer in Martin's company. Talitha in the TB office helped us plan our day, answered multiple emails promptly, and reserved lunch for us at the fabulous Tetetlan restaurant, adjacent to Casa Pedregal, the last house we visited. We arrived back at our hotel at 6 p.m. grateful and exhilarated. The Traveling Beetle has lots of tours and I hope to return to Mexico City soon to take another one.

Martin and Luis were the most incredible duo on our architectural tour! Martin is an architect and was beyond knowledgable of the history of Mexico City and its stunning and varied architecture. Sadly, our first flight to CDMX was cancelled so we lost a vacation day, but at the end of our robust tour, we felt as if we'd seen two days worth of sites. I cannot recommend this tour and Martin and Luis more highly!

We actually did Barragan Northern and Southern Tours. The buildings needed the excellent explanation of the tour guides enroute to and at the sites, because the buildiings have been adjusted in some ways, to survive. We also benefitted enormously from their logistical planning- transport, access, lunch.. And we were inspired by the other couples' questions and discussions with the guides and us. We prefer shared tours.
