Overview

Beat the crowds and the midday heat on an early morning tour of the Teotihuacan Pyramids from Mexico City. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the pre-Mayan archaeological wonder will come alive with your guide’s narration. Enjoy the early morning tranquility of ancient pyramids and temples, or chose an afternoon departure to see the site in a different light. Plus, your tour includes a visit to an obsidian workshop and a mezcal-tasting session.

What to Expect

The trip begins with pickup from one of two central meeting points in Mexico City (your choice upon checkout) during the early morning or afternoon, depending on which tour you choose. There you’ll board a bus destined for the Teotihuacan Pyramids.

On the morning tour, you’ll be one of the first to enter the archaeological site. On either morning or afternoon tour, a private archaeologist will expand on the pre-Mayan history of highlights such as the Temple of Quetzalcoatl and Avenue of the Dead.

Ascend to the summit of the Sun Pyramid and Moon Pyramid for panoramic views of the site before returning to the coach to travel to an obsidian workshop, where you’ll interact with a local family and sample liqueurs made from cacti.

Stop for a Mexican food (own expense) before returning to the central meeting point in Mexico City.

Very good visit to the pyramids

I picked up the early morning tour and the visit to the site itself was really worth it. The bus was clean, seeing the metropolis wake up is interesting in itself. Our guide Gherson was awesome. We could clearly see he loves his job and...More

Mixed bag: Teotihuacan tour excellent; Tourist trap afterwards not so bueno

The tour of Teotihuacan itself was informative, extensive, and well-planned. Going in the early morning is essential; the sun becomes unrelenting and you'll definitely need to protect yourself with sunblock and a hat. The tour moves quickly, so you need to keep eyes on your...More

Great tour of the pyramids

The bus arrived slightly late. We arrived in decent time. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and we very strict on time. They have no banners or ways of identifying the members of the tour or even staff which was very confusing. The tour itself...More

You could skip the lunch part and go back to town earlier to catch your flight though.
