About
My name is Diego. I have a bachelor's degree in tourism and a master's in local economic development from the University of Guadalajara. I created this experience to introduce travelers to Guadalajara, the city where I was born and raised. More than a regular tour, I'd like to provide you with a thoughtful progression through the city, with an emphasis on history, architecture and socio-political movements. In a fun and slow-paced 3-hour walk, you'll see 10+ of Guadalajara's fundamental landmarks, including: • The Cathedral. • The city square and the main plazas. • The goverment buildings. • Templo Expiatorio. • Mercado Libertad (the largest indoor market in Latin America). • Chapultepec cultural corridor. • Colonia Americana. • Hospicio Cabañas. • Degollado Theater. • ...and more! This is a fully-private experience, meaning your guide will give you exclusive attention and we'll go at your own pace, so a personalized high-quality experience is guaranteed.

Taking this tour will make your trip much more enjoyable!
We had a wonderful time on our food tour with Diego. The information we received was incredibly helpful for the rest of our time in Guadalajara. Diego answered all of our questions, helped us get tickets to a show at the Teatro Degollado, and gave us a lot of useful tips. I highly recommend you book this tour for one of the first few days on your trip. The information you gain will make the rest of the days much more enjoyable.

    Wonderful guided tour with Diego
Our tour with Diego was one of the highlights to our trip to Mexico. Diego was knowledgeable about the city of Guadalajara, where he was raised. I really enjoyed seeing all the sites and learning the history that we would not have gotten to know about if we tried this on our own, especially appreciated going to the food market where local folks go and eating authentic food, ending the day at Tlaquepaque Village with the beautiful artisan shops and quaint little village was also a highlight. Diego was like visiting family so easy to talk with and ask questions. I think the per person price was very reasonable as well.

    Tlaquepaque y Tonala
We were in Guadalajara for a few days and booked several tours. Two of our tours were with Diego Hannon. Diego has studied Mexican history extensively and is still in school expanding his knowledge. Diego is a top notch tour guide. He met us at our Airbnb and we began our tour. First stop of the day was in Tonala, and Diego recommended a delicious restaurant as our first stop. Tonala is known for their world renowned pottery. We visited the Jose Bernabe studio and we were given given a private tour and demonstration by one of the Bernabe brothers. We also met an indigenous herbalist with extensive knowledge of medicinal plants. Our tour proceeded to Tlaquepaque, a beautiful city with lots of unique shops...Overall, our day was memorable and we would highly recommend this tour. We also recommend Diego Hannon as a tour guide.

Fantastic day in Tlaquepaque and Tonalá with our private guide, Diego.
We had a fantastic day on our private tour of Tonalá and Tlaquepaque with Diego, who was really a top-notch guide. Besides being especially accommodating and a super nice guy, he’s very well educated and has a deep knowledge of the entire area, including local history, as well as the history of Mexico and the world. We really appreciated this knowledge and enjoyed talking with him and learning all sorts of interesting details. We were able to experience a variety of places that we would not have known about without our tour with Diego. Some of the artists and artwork he exposed us to were unique and unparalleled. Our tour was in Spanish, but because Diego has lived or spent time in the U.S., Canada and New Zealand, his English language skills are excellent. I really can’t offer any higher recommendation.

    Great Day Trip!
Diego offers a full service tour of two very charming, but different towns within the city limits of Guadalajara. Knowledgeable about the history of the area, but also with connection to high-end microbreweries and hole in the wall taco joints, he makes sure there’s something for everyone. The tour is personal and customized to your preferences, highly worthwhile!

    Amazing tour!!!!! Highly recommend
Diego was extremely knowledgeable. Went above and beyond to ensure my wife and I had a great time. It’s very evident he is passionate about what he does. He know the towns, community, and people like the back of his hand. He not only gave us a great tour but also shared with us his great knowledge of the area.

    Fun and educative
Diego met up with us at the city center, and we walked together to the market. On our way, he explained to us about the city, Mexican history, and interesting architecture. Once we got to the market, Diego explained to us all the different food and items on display, answered any questions we might have, and took us to his favorite spots in the market. As someone who hadn't been to Mexico or speak Spanish, I am so glad that Diego could help us discover Guadalajara beyond my limits. Make sure to bring plenty cash so that you could taste or buy things that catch your eyes at the market!

    Unforgettable trip
Diego arrived to our hotel perfectly on time. The driver Gustavo drove safely and carefully, while Diego advised us of the history and details of the places we visited. The distillery and the agave fields were great to see, and learning the culture of the region was fantastic. Highly recommended.

    Educational and fun experience
If you are looking for an authentic, local's view of these 2 amazing places, look no further than Diego's tour. My wife and I started our day at 7:30 and would highly recommend that you do the same as we were able to beat the crowd at the Guachimontones and get a head start in Tequila, even on a Saturday. There were still people coming in as we were heading back to Guadalajara. We are always impressed as we explore new areas in Mexico and having Diego as our personal tour guide for the day was the perfect way to experience these amazing landmarks. Diego is very knowledgeable on the area and it is easy to see that he has a passion for history as well as folklore. The information he's equipped with is a perfect amount without feeling overloaded. He recommenced many good places to eat, drink, and shop, but ultimately left the decision up to us. There is lots to do in Tequila, so don't be shy if you have an idea of something specific you'd like to see. We were on the fence about trying to travel on our own to these sites and we would have been without 90% of the interesting information and history without Diego. Not to mention we would have not gotten the delicious local food. "When you see the abuelas in their aprons, that's how you know good food is coming," he said. If you are on the fence, you will not regret your day with Diego.

This is my 2nd trip to Guadalajara. The 1st time I explored with friends without a guide. This time 3 couples decided to hire Diego for a private walking tour. The difference was amazing. I learned so much more and saw parts of the city I hadn't seen previously. Diego is a wealth of information and could answer any question. He is an expert on this city and is very familiar with everything about it from its history to its architecture. His knowledge of Mexico overall is phenomenal. He is very personable and speaks excellent English. Our entire group would highly recommend him for a private walking tour of the city. He is also able to customize tours if one is interested in specific sites or experiences.

We were two foreigners, who visited Mexico for the first time due to work. Colleagues recommended Guadalajara to us, and we decided to book this guided tour so that we could understand the attractions better. We went through lots of famous histrorical buildings, city attractions and end up at the big indoor market. Everything was great, and Diego was really well prepared with lots of printed pictures showing the history of the city.

Oh, btw, we were also late for almost 20 minutes, and he was so understanding and nice!

Highly recommended!!!

Well, you should know that Diego met all of our expectations. His demeanor, breadth of knowledge of Mexico's history and awareness of various architectural periods of the city made this almost-four hour tour a wonderful and enlightning experience. My wife and I strongly recommend him.

Diego was a fantastic tour guide! He provided us with the right level of interesting information and had a lot of good recommendations for us to consider in our free time--restaurants, museums, other neighborhoods to explore, etc. His tour was a great introduction to the city and we really enjoyed getting to know him along the way.

I was considering a bike tour but decided to book this walking tour with Diego based on his reviews, and I'm so glad I did. I highly recommend this tour!

Diego was fantastic! We booked his walking tour of Guadalajara and his Tonala & Tlaquepaque tours on consecutive days. He was very friendly, communicative, punctual, and very well prepared for each tour. His knowledge was fantastic and we learned so much from both tours. Diego is also such a pleasure to spend the day with. We could not be happier and highly recommend him!

You really get to see everything that central Guadalajara has to offer. Diego stats with a very detailed history in the founding of Guadalajara. He takes you through to see some of the oldest houses in the city. You can tell he is very knowledgeable on the subject and enjoys talking about it. From there we walked through the churches and cathedral. Diego gives history from every perspective, both the good and the bad, so you know you’re getting accurate and unbiased information. From there, we saw multiple neighborhoods and amazing architecture. We stopped and bought some Teguino, a 9000 year old fermented drink (surprisingly refreshing) We made a stop at the San Juan market and it was without a doubt the biggest market I’ve ever been to. Diego helps you find some of the best food around of the 500 food stands available. (in my case it was birria tacos) Diego was very friendly and cool to talk to. Along the way he made multiple recommendations on where to go to dinner, what attractions are nearby and where you can get the best deals on souvenirs. Very immersive and informative, I would very much recommend this tour and any other ones Diego offers. 10/10. 5 gold stars.

Where to start....

We were prepared to learn some interesting history of Guadalajara but quite honestly speaking, Diego is beyond knowledgeable of this beautiful treasure of a city he calls home. He possesses a deep understanding of the history & culture, which is rich and incredibly interesting.
Be prepared to be taken on journey, exploring so many beautiful neighborhood, churches, cathedrals, public squares, grand markets, city sculptures, and murals, all while learning their history. This is a tour you don't want to miss.

We are so thankful that we chose to take Diego's tour at the beginning of our trip, as it helped to ground us in the historic spaces we wished to spend time to explore.
Diego encouraged us to take plenty of pics and gave us a glimpse into historic sights with images from the past. He also offered plenty of amazing recommendations of museums, murals, towns, and restaurants to check out while there.
He is so proud of his city, and it's easy to understand why after visiting here.

Diego, thank you for making this an unforgettable trip & experience for us.
Guadalajara, you'll see us again.

Many thanks & kind regards,
Chris & Pedro

I searched for Things to Do in Guadalajara - as a first time visitor I was open to any new experience. The walking tour, hosted by Diego, was one of several options I considered. It didn’t take long, though, to select his tour. The reviews were excellent and his description of the tour seemed ideal.

We were delighted with the tour! Diego is very knowledgeable and enjoys sharing his love of his hometown with others. We toured through several architectural eras of historic Guadalajara, each one a gem in its own right. Diego pointed out homes and other buildings that we would have walked right by if he hadn’t been with us.

We were a group of four, and none of us are fluent in Spanish. Diego’s English is excellent - he lived in the US for several years.

If you’re looking for a lovely way to learn about this charming area of Guadalajara, I highly recommend Diego’s tour.
