A lot of fun and informative. Mexican markets can be overwhelming and Chef Enrique taught us what to look for. All the food was incredibly delicious and I love having the recipes to cook again at home. Although I know how to cook, Chef taught me a few new tricks. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to learn more about Mexican cuisine.

My husband and I had a FANTASTIC time with Enrique and Cookin Vallarta. And we both agreed that this was the BEST travel experience we’ve ever had. We worked together from buying ingredients at the market, prepping for and cooking a delicious meal, and having wonderful conversation at the table after.. We were a small party of 2, but Enrique and his family brought is into their space and made us feel right at home. We had great teachers at every step of creating the meal and the food was out of this world fresh and delicious!! I highly recommend this experience and would absolutely do it again.

Recently tried their Tequila Tasting tour and what an experience! Our guide was Francisco and he was beyond amazing!! We did get a little lost as the address provided doesn't show up on Google or Apple maps correctly - if you use waze it will lead you to the correct place! Francisco helped us find our way back and the tequila tasting began! He started us off with a cocktail and then we went through the different tequila tastings. They were all so delicious and some even super unique. He was extremely knowledgeable and so friendly. Highly recommend booking the tequila tasting experience! Great for a bachelorette too!

This was a wonderful experience w/ my wife and I. We always wanted to do something like this and it was just perfect. Enrique was incredible, along w his wife and sister in law. We met at the market, picked out our vegetables, fruit and meat. We then were welcomed into his home where we all prepped, cooked and ate. They were just sweet, kind people and welcoming. Highly recommend it. Learned a lot! We made salsa, homemade tortillas, guacamole, ceviche, ahi tuna, octopus and sea bass. All was delicious! Just a cool experience

super fun and super good food. Perfectly done and very nice residents. Learnt a lot about cooking and a lot about different types of food. He teaches you the background of each food and once you start cooking he is very helpful. Would recommend!

We took the class in Cabo San Lucas this was our second class with this company. It was Barbara tacos and Birria tacos. It wasn’t the same experience as our first one in June 2021. With the 6/2021 class with Caroline we went to the market but due to Covid we weren’t able to go to tortilla factory or meat market. That being said we went to her home group was smaller only 8 it was a more inclusive class we felt more involved and was able to see the dishes we helped cook to the end and served . Had so much fun making the hibiscus margaritas also. July 2024 class had 11 people so you didn’t feel as involved. We went shopping to the tortilla factory it was great, picking out the meat was educational and fun. Then because the group was so big we went to their restaurant kitchen to cook. They made sure we all had Ingredients, some people made it kind of a race and because they finished so fast they came over and grabbed our ingredients that we were prepping, some people don’t have cooking experience and therefore move slowly. The chef was great in showing us the ingredients and explaining what to do and how to cook What we didn’t do is put the food together after it was finished. His staff finished preparing the food for us so we don’t know what it’s supposed to look like after it finished cooking… also cilantro was added to the recipes. We were told in the first class the this wasn’t an ingredient in Mexican cooking it’s more of an American thing in our class 6/2021 but 7/2024 class has cilantro all over it. Makes me wonder if the company had a change of ownership. Not sure we will take another class with this new version.

Educational, fun and delicious! Operated by a family who clearly takes pride in what they do and are amazing hosts! What they didn’t tell you in the listing is the unlimited margaritas that they teach you how to make and leave all out for self-refills for the entire time after coming back after the markets. Recommend!

We had a great time walking the markets and learned how to pick out avocado, pineapple, limes and spices. I learned quite a few new approaches to cooking. Spending time on our lunch, making homemade tortillas was fun.

We like to do a cooking class when we travel and I have to say this one might have been our favorite to date. Chef Alma (her family owns the business and also provides other cooking classes in Cancun) was incredibly knowledgeable and fun to chat with. The food was absolutely delicious and we have some new recipes we were able to take home with us. Can’t recommend it enough!

Excellent introduction to the foods and culture of Mexico! Chef Enrique met us at a local food market and thus began our tour of food, history, and culture. He explained how to buy fresh fish, how to select the best fruits and ingredients, and then drove us to his home to involve the class in the meal preparation. We started with a shrimp soup, made multiple different moles or salsas, and participated — hands on — in the chopping, grinding, and tasting of all. Some highlights: the smoothest Marguerite’s we have experienced, the freshest and most piquant salsas, and a wonderful grilled red snapper. We were sorry we had had a large breakfast before the class; go hungry. An added bonus was a “lecture” on tequila vs. mezcal and corn vs. flour tortillas. Very informative.

The most fun experience we had while in Puerto Vallarta. The market tour, local and Mexican history was fascinating. At Enrique’s beautiful home we learned how to make some memorable dishes. I highly recommend this for your visit to PV.

Couldn't recommend this more! My girlfriend and I have been coming to Playa for 4 years straight and this was one of our favorite experiences yet. Alma and Aunt Lily were incredible hosts, making sure we were well fed and entertained the entire day. They welcomed us into their home, created the menu with us and Alma led us around her neighborhood to start the fun. First stop, we got to see a local producer of the freshest and best tortillas...just add a little salt! Next, we stopped at a fantastic produce market for more fresh ingredients, as well as a taste of some local bites. Finally, we ended up back at Aunt Lily's to cook everything up together and polish off some fresh mango margaritas. Can not thank both of them enough for their hospitality and love!

This was just a wonderful experience and well worth the modest price we paid. The host was both pleasant and knowledgeable. It was evident that he thoroughly enjoyed teaching us his skills. It was really fun participating in the preparation.
