- Andrew W0 contributionsChocotastic! This was an incredible experience. The instructor, Rod, was not only extremely knowledgeable on the history of chocolate, but is a fantastic storyteller. We learned how the cacao bean became the chocolate we love. I will never forget this experience. Highly recommendWritten October 30, 2024
- Leslie P0 contributionsWonderful experienceThis experience was a great deal of fun and very informative on the history of chocolate in MX. We learned and got to experience each step in the making of chocolate from the roasting of beans all the way to making chocolate. We also had the opportunity to learn about three separate chocolate drinks and taste them all. Zoar was a teacher and she was wonderful!!Written October 22, 2024
- L7425ILrobinl0 contributionsChocoholic paradise- learning, tasting and making chocolateOne of our favorite things we did in Puerto Vallarta! Our guide Mouan was fabulous! He even started our tour a little early because we all showed up way too soon. We learned a ton of history about chocolate and tried 2 different chocolate drinks as well as made our own different chocolates. So much fun! If you are a chocoholic you definitely need to take this class. 🍫❤️Written October 19, 2024
- durindaa20240 contributionsGreat classThe class was amazing. Zoar was very knowledgeable and made the class very fun. IF ever back in Puerto Vallarta, I will definitely take the class again.Written September 29, 2024
- Jfrosch0 contributionsVacation in Puerto VallartaWify wanted to try this chocolate tour in Puerto Vallarta while we were on vacation. It was absolutely so much fun and so interesting. Noal is so knowledgeable of the Mexican history of the cacao bean. We made tea, hot chocolate and chocolate bars from the beans. It was a great time. Highly recommend.Written September 14, 2024

- 981molliew0 contributionsDelicious and down to earth!Very well put together and overall mellow learning experience! Mole is a complicated dish that Mouan guided us through with ease. The market trip was a sweet way to gain close up knowledge of how food fits into Puerto Vallarta's culture and daily life, and Mouan has a lot of firsthand experience and smart thoughts to share -- thank you for a fulfilling day, Mouan!Written July 31, 2024
- Companion5418680 contributionsA must for chocolate lovers! My husband & I did the Total Chocolate Experience, which is the Bean to Bar workshop combined with the Chocolate Truffle workshop. It lasted just over 3 hours. It was very informative and super yummy!!! It was nice that we were given aprons to use so we didn't have to worry about our clothes. We went in low season so there was just one other couple which made the experience very personal.Written June 6, 2024

- Dana S0 contributionsFun Mini Workshop for kidsMy almost-7-year-old and I did a Mini chocolate making workshop with Zoar. We had a fun 45 minutes making our own chocolate and learning how it was made. It was the perfect length for a young kid to engage and absorb. The chocolate was tasty — but not something you can take home as a gift as it melts quickly.Written April 15, 2024
- lauriebb20130 contributionsFun, but chocolate not great....This was a very fun and informative workshop, taking us through the process of chocolate making. We took off a star because we were told we'd have finished chocolate to take home and that chocolate was intended to be gifts, but when we got home and sampled it, the texture was crumbly and unpleasant and it was already discolored, so not appropriate for gifts.Written April 4, 2024
- rickpX90XT0 contributionsHad a great time and wonderful teachers!!!Great experience. This was an experience we've always wanted to attend. We did the Bean to Bar and the truffle making experience and loved it. We learned a ton about choclate and had a blast making chocolate goodies. Rodrigo and Lizette (sp?) were absoulely fun to have as teachers. Yup...we'd recommend the Choco Museo courses.Written March 23, 2024
- Departure145428363120 contributionschocolate beans were money ?! who knew!my 3 sons ages 8-11 my wife and i had a great time. Elias, our docent, brought the history of chocolate and world history related to chocolate alive. They kept my sons engaged and entertained as well as keeping the class it at a level that maintained the interest of the adults in the group. We learned how to make and were served ancient chocolate drinks, learned about pre-industrialized methods of production, and drank the best hot chocolate we have ever had. We left with chocolates we spiced and molded ourselves, happy and entertained by a great experience. The class is a great way to get out of the sun and learn about chocolate.Written March 23, 2024
- M4758ARgracek0 contributionsIt’s ok.Was expecting more based on the reviews. It wasn’t really a cooking class so much as a I’ll make the chocolate and you guys can watch or peel the beans. We didn’t get to grind beans (like some of the pictures show) and our host didn’t demonstrate tempering the chocolate. It could’ve been because we had kids in the group, but would’ve appreciated more of an introduction, i.e., here’s what we’re going to do today. On the upside, our host was very knowledgeable and we were able to learn a lot of the history of chocolate which I did appreciate.Written March 22, 2024

We booked a 50 minute chocolate workshop. We walked in and greeted great with friendly attitude by Rodrigo. We were motioned to go up to wash our hands and get ready to make chocolate. We had aprons on and we’re given our selected chocolate flavours. We selected our moulds, choosing which types of bars and shapes we’re gonna make. Next, we selected from a dozen additional flavours/toppings to enhance our chocolates. After we filled the moulds, they were put in the freezer while we were given a presentation about the history of Mexican chocolates. Come to find out only 1.4% of the worlds chocolate is made in Mexico. Mexico doesn’t export any of its chocolate. Some of the very highest quality in the world.

We had the most fun making truffles and bon bons. It was very hands on where we actually made every part of the chocolates. Fernanda was an excellent teacher explaining the ins and outs of being a chocolate maker. We all produced perfect truffles and bon bons and took more than a dozen home. A truly enjoyable experience. We highly recommend it.

If you like chocolate, this class is for you! Lizzette was an awesome instructor. We made ganache filled chocolates and chocolate truffles. We also learned how to temper chocolate ! Best of all, you sample as you are making and you go home with the chocolates that you made! Highly recommend this class!

We had a great time with Jorge not only learning about chocolate but also making it for truffles and bonbons. We loved listening to Jorge's stories and the history of chocolate in Mexico but also really had fun with the interactive part of the class where Jorge put us to work.
We really felt like we learned a lot but that we could also do chocolate making on our own given the instruction by Jorge. The best is that you leave the class with A LOT of chocolate. What a great, fun half-day. I would highly, highly recommend the class.
I've also taken the mole class and found that to be equally enjoyable.

My family of 7 (grandkids through grandparents) thoroughly enjoyed our truffle and bon bon making class with Rod. He is a kind, knowledgeable, generous, and personable instructor with a tangible love for people. Our family consisted of two tweens, three middle aged adults, and two grandparents. Everyone in the group found this experience to be very unique, educational and worthwhile.

My daughter, her friend (both 17) and I wanted to do something different on our recent PV vacation (especially one with air conditioning) when I saw all the positive reviews for this experience. As we walked in, I told them to be open minded and that this experience would be either just "okay" or "totally lame" and either way, we just needed to have fun with it. Well, we were all proven totally wrong as it was a total blast!!!! Lizzette and Elizabeth were engaging, well informed and a great deal of fun...even if they did (justifiably) tease me about my less than stellar "fork technic". We all agreed this far exceeded our expectations and sincerely enjoyed our time...and are still enjoying our chocolates now that we are home!

Our entire family had a great visit to the chocolate museum - and came away with some tasty treats that we learned how to make.
The teaching guide did a good job instructing us how to make bon bons and other chocolate treats.
This was a great experience, different from the normal beach tourist activities.

Overall experience was 10/10!
Jorge was a fantastic instructor, he explained the history of chocolate and provided examples of how it is produced. He demonstrated each step in the creation process but allowed us to take full control in creating the truffles and chocolates. Such a fun morning and had a great time creating our chocolates. Thank you Jorge!
We would recommend this to anyone who loves chocolate!

The Joya squad is wonderful. The behind the sences tour of Vidanta Grand Luxxe was well worth it. You get to see how they do everything from the chocolates, to the coffee, to laundry, wine and tequila, to the jams and jelly. Tasting of chocolate and tequila are available for free! It’s all done under the Grand Luxxe towers!

I love activities that I can participate in. This one did not disappoint. Everyone there is so helpful. My DH actually came with me and had just as much fun as I did. Actually, his filled chocolates were better than mine! I will take the other classes during another trip to PVR. My only suggestion is that they sell the molds right there in the museo! I am going to find some back here at home and practice what I was taught. Thanks so much for the history and the education in chocolate.

Yes, I think it would. It's close to the port and just off of the Malecon. I think it's a very manageable excursion. We had a great time there
