- lmdean030 contributionsGreat Food Experience. My husband and I had met Chef Manuel previously as our guide on a Taco Tour. His skill as a chef was fun to watch, and the results of his efforts amazing! The best fresh Ceviche we've ever had and the Panela Cheese Enchiladas along with his homemade pepper oil make it an explosion of flavor. Along with chatting and getting to know Manuel better, it was an enjoyable evening. We would do it again.Written October 22, 2023
- Trip7709510 contributionsMarket Visit & Cooking Lesson with ManuWe had an amazing time at this Market Visit and private Cooking Lesson experience. Our Host and Chef, Manu, was EXCELLENT!!! We had 3 couples in our group. Manu customized our menu based on foods we love, and then took us shopping at the Market to buy all the ingredients. He drove us to his beautiful home and taught us how to make some delicious salsas, an amazing ceviche with a special type of red snapper and lastly, delicious chicken enchiladas. As one of our friends said, "It was the best ceviche she has ever had!" Along with teaching us how to make these dishes, he also taught us knife cutting skills. We highly recommend this fun, delicious experience, especially if you can get Manu as your Host and Chef.Written October 7, 2023

- sacha q0 contributionsGreat cooking with even better food!It was a great experience, seeing these amazing markets, where all of the restaurants get their fresh fish. The food that was created in this lesson was outstanding, and I look forward to trying to re-create it at home. Great experience!Written September 6, 2023
- Happyheartbakery0 contributionsManu is fantastic!! Super fun and delicious experience.Fantastic experience! We met Manu at the market where he showed us how to buy fresh fish, then we went to the nearby tortilla factory and watched fresh tortillas being made. He drove us to his house and showed us the trick to “de-spicing” peppers, then made a roasted 3 pepper salsa, fish ceviche, shrimp al pastor, and prickly pear cactus with tajin. Delicious and fun!!Written August 9, 2023
- Ligia A0 contributionsGreat Experience! We had the best experience cooking and chatting with Chef Manuel! We felt so welcomed in his home and learned a few skills we put into practice back at home. Manuel is knowledgeable and an amazing chef. He ruined us for ceviche during the rest of the trip—none compared to his!! Thank you! Buen Provecho!Written July 25, 2023
- lilysA2177RN0 contributionsGreat Cooking Class!Loved this class! Chef Manuel was very knowledgeable and explained every step of the recipe in detail. The food was amazing! He also recommended restaurants and fun activities to check out in Puerto Vallarta. Thank you!Written July 17, 2023

- carriemN1567OL0 contributionsDelicious food and many laughs!Manu was a lot of fun to spend the afternoon with learning about different foods and techniques to cook amazing dishes! You can tell he has a wonderful relationship with everyone at the market. The food was delicious and we enjoyed the time spent laughing, talking, and eating! We had no idea what to expect and it was worth every penny! I would recommend this experience to anyone wanting to do something a little different.Written July 4, 2023
- Trip7972830 contributionsDelicious! A taste we will not forget!Manu provided a unique experience! He met us at the market. He asked about things we liked to eat and we shared we were willing to try anything. We shopped at the market for all the ingredients. We enjoyed conversation as he explained and prepped a wonderful taste of this region of Mexico!Written June 14, 2023
- Dawny K0 contributionsManu’s great cooking and dining experienceManu met us at the market. He started the experience with verifying any food, allergies or aversions, and we discussed the menu. Then inside the market, we saw some amazing, fresh fish, crab, and shrimp. He gave us the opportunity to pick our fish, then he selected the best one for some, what proved to be, great ceviche. Then on to pick out the filling for some enchiladas. Produce next-peppers, tomatoes, limes, and several more ingredients. From the market, we stopped by the tortilla factory to get some fresh tortillas. Then back to his house. Our 13-year-old grandson was with us. Manu gave him some knife skill lessons and let him help prepare our meal. The food was excellent and the company even better. If you’re thinking about a cooking and authentic eating experience, you can’t go wrong with Manu .Written June 5, 2023
- Lynn L0 contributionsDelicious! Fun! And Memorable❤️Travelling with family and friends, We were greeted for the start of our cooking class and market tour by Manu and his little dog Max. It just got better as Manu got to know us and our likes and dislikes. Together we planned a menu and headed to the nearby market to select fresh ingredients. Manu prepared a lovely meal, perfectly spiced and prepared from the heart. Very tasty and generous portions too. Would highly recommend this experience!! Thank you Manu! You made our trip very memorable.Written May 15, 2023
- Excursion7813980 contributionsDon't Miss this Experience if you love FOOD!OH MY GOODNESS! Manuel and the class we took in his home was the highlight of our trip. If we go back, we will definitely book again. The market tour was amazing - we learned so much. I'm glad we did that as a part of the class. He took the time to learn about us and we chose the menu together, shopped together and created two wonderful dishes together. Experiencing the class in his own home was a bonus and we learned so much about the culture sharing the day with him. (and his dog is adorable!) If you're a foodie - or you like to cook - or eat, I would definitely get out of your pool chair and experience REAL Mexican food, prepared with expertise and love. The only problem is all food after his cooking didn't compare! He also sent us the recipes we prepared so we can TRY to duplicate it at home!Written May 15, 2023
- liorae9420 contributionsPoor experienceThe experience was nothing like the description Mano had a very tiny Appartment with a very tiny kitchen that only he can cook and we had to watch him. There was no A/C and the place get so warm from turning on the stove. The food was very minimal mushrooms and enchiladas and I feel that the price that he charge was high. We were 4 adult and we paid $488 in Mexico for a dish and a half. Where in puerto Vallarta it cost you to eat in fancy restaurants $150 per couple with alcohol side dishes and dessert. There is no reason for the price to be so high for what we paid as the food didn’t cost him more than $20 in the local market. We also went with him to buy the food. Very dirty place. I hope that he will change the experience because the idea is great but he need to provide for what he charge a gourmet meal including wine and dessert.Written May 12, 2023
- Vicky824Zach0 contributionsCooking demonstrationI would say it more of a cooking demonstration than a class. The dog Max steals the show…cutest dog ever. Only reason I’m giving 3 stars is because all the other classes I’ve taken before were hands on and this one isn’t. But hey it’s always good to support the local economy and small business.Written May 12, 2023

I have been to Puerto Vallarta many times and must say this is the best experience I have ever had. Helene was an amazing host and cooking instructor.
The food was fun to help prepare and so delicious. We made salsa from scratch with totopos (tortilla chips made fresh); ceviche (I don't usually like seafood but this was so fresh and delicious, I loved it!), poblano rellenos (peppers stuffed with cheese); and for dessert mango mousse! Of course we also made margaritas.
Thank you Helene for an amazing experience. I loved sitting around the table getting to know you. A special thank you also to your helper, Lupe. Such a wonderful experience I will remember always.

I highly recommend this Cooking Class! For our group of four, it was an amazing time of learning not only about the food we were helping to prepare but also about the history and culture and history of Puerto Vallarta (and Mexico)!
Helene welcomed us into her home with open arms, a sense of humour and a wonderful desire to connect with her guests via food. (We also communicated, throughout our visit, in French as well as in English.)
Food... WoW! What a feast... for the eyes and for the tastebuds! Salsa y totopos; pepinos y jicama; seafood ceviche; margaritas (with a secret ingredient!); poblano rellenos; and finally, mango mousse!
Thank you Helene and Lupe (hope I spelled correctly) for a wonderful adventure via an amazing authentic meal of Mexico!

We had a wonderful Jaliscan cultural and culinary experience with Helene! The instructions for where to meet her were easy and clear, and she picked us up personally to take us back to her lovely home in a truly local neighborhood. Once we were issued our aprons, we helped Helene to prepare a feast we won’t soon forget. On the menu was a refreshing agua fria to start and delicious homemade tortilla chips and salsa that we assembled. This was followed by a fantastic ceviche over super fresh guacamole. We then learned some easy tips for how to make a silky-smooth cream of corn soup with excellent flavor. Then we helped to clean and stuff roasted poblano peppers for chilies rellenos. I’ve always been a little intimidated to try making them at home, but Helene and Lupe showed us that they are easy to put together. Finally, Helene offered some very tasty margheritas with a few special ingredients. We sat down at a beautiful outdoor dining table in Helene’s courtyard and enjoyed this amazing meal. After we were pleasantly stuffed, we were treated to a light mango cream dessert made with mangoes right from her own courtyard. Helene was also so easy to talk with and shared so many stories and information about her neighborhood and city – we felt like friends by the end of our meal. This is an excellent experience that gives you a small and authentic glimpse into Mexican culture and cuisine. We highly recommend it!

Helene is an excellent instructor. My sister and I were looking forward to the class and it more than met our expectations.
We made a lunch with corn soup; ceviche, guacamole, chips and salsa; chile rellanos with rice and refried beans topped off by a mango mousse. All was delicious and I believe I can recreate the dishes at home. Oh, I almost forgot the margaritas!
