- Justin M0 contributionsBernando IS THE BEST!!!This tour was absolutely amazing! I could go on and on about how amazing the food was and the tequila, but the true stand out for this tour was our guide Bernando. Me and my friends took this tour for my bday trip, and he made it amazing. His knowledge was ENDLESS. Not only that but he taught us about more than just tacos and tequila. He shared a lot of history about the history and the people which we really enjoyed. This honestly was the highlight of my trip and I would do it again!Written September 9, 2024
- seekandsaunter0 contributionsA Must Do!This is a must do, and I highly recommend Miel as your tour guide. She was informative and really highlighted the historical undertones of tequila, mezcal, and pulque in the region. She was attentive, engaging and personalized the experience. The tacos were amazing throughout, artisanal and as good as any other food we got on the trip. You definitely get your moneys worth, as I left full and feeling good after all the libations. We’d do it over 10 times ‘round!Written September 9, 2024

All the places she took us to were family owned restaurants with authentic and delicious food. - stevenbM3029HC0 contributionsGREAT experience! The excursion is well-paced and we loved getting to experience local restaurants and learning about their history / backstories. Our tour guide Miel was a wealth of information on the history of Mexican cuisine and Teluila, Mescal, and Pulque. The food and drinks are fantastic, but hearing the passion that Miel has for her culture and sharing stories about the restaurants we visited was worth the price alone. Highly recommend!! 10/10Written August 28, 2024
- 224asmaah0 contributionsA MUST!!Absolutely amazing experience!! I'm so glad my friends and I booked this tour on our 2nd day here because we were able to try out authentic food and save our favorite places. Our tour guide, Ale, is the sweetest and was very accommodating for dietary restrictions. 10/10 experience💯Written August 27, 2024

Great use of time and fun way to see Puerto Vallarta.
I'd never ridden an eBike before so that in itself was a fun experience. The streets in PV are cobblestone, and so a regular bike would get old fast. This bike has fat tires and the throttle is helpful on the hills.
We stopped at two shops and three taco stands. I'd never know where to try "good" tacos in PV, esp on the street. Thank you to Alan, our guide, who explained that these specific taco stands were sort of "secret" and known among the locals.
FYI, we did not have any seafood tacos. They were all pork or beef. One stand was particularly interesting because they sold beef tongue and beef cheeks for their tacos. Interesting. You need to be slightly adventurous though, even if you are just trying. I couldn't quite bring myself to eat the beef cheeks, and although I'm not a pork eater, I did try the carnitas. They were good.
The tour ended with a nice little climb to a high point in the city where we could see all of Banderas Bay which was amazing. PV is really beautiful with all the mountains going straight to the sea. Amazing geography.

The tour was 5 stars because of our guide Homero (he was very informative and super sweet), the food stops (delicious for everyone including the 4 vegetarians in our group) and an awesome way to experience to see the city.
The tour lost 1 star from me because of the bikes. I had made my reservation 4 months in advance and provided bike sizing, heights of the riders, etc to make sure everyone got a comfortable bike (as per the tour company). Apparently, they had booked another tour of 8 people to start 30 minutes before we got there and gave them all of the good bikes. We ended up with bikes that were too big or too small, seat posts that didn't adjust properly, bikes that were SOOO old they definitely pulled them out of an old storage somewhere, and even one bike that was totally different because it was rented!

I did the bikes and bites tour at the end of August and had an amazing time. The guide, Gio, was a great guide. I ended up being the only one booked that day so I was fortunate to get a private tour. Gio was very friendly and informative. He really seemed to be enjoying the day almost as much as I was. It made for a really great morning.
The bike riding is not difficult or technical. It is mostly flat riding. The bikes were in great condition. The streets are cobblestone so the riding in places is quite bumpy. If this isn't something you like I would recommend a walking tour, but it really is not tricky riding.
The food stops were amazing. I loved each one. They were all different but all so tasty. With the bikes you can cover a lot of ground in a short time so we were able to go to stops in quite a few different neighbourhoods. I really can't pick a favourite stop. Lots of the places were ones I wouldn't have stumbled upon on my own but am so happy I know about them now! It was also great having a guide there to let me know which of the salsas were spicy (so no unexpected pain!). The biggest surprise for me was the stop for the tuba drink. This was so refreshing and the taste was very enjoyable. The one we had contained apples and walnuts and was the perfect refreshment about halfway through the tour.
A tip - do not eat breakfast first. I went on an empty stomach and left very full and satisfied.

This was a great excursion to do when in Puerto Vallarta! We booked a private tour because we had 12 people. We had a mix of ages and abilities in our group and the biking was very easy for everyone involved. Homero was a great guide, very knowledgeable about each taco/taco stand and the different areas of town we biked thru. I would highly recommend this tour if you want some authentic tacos and a look of the city from a local perspective.

This was a highlight of our week in Puerto Vallarta, and a nice way to see the Malecon and other parts of Puerto Vallarta. We stopped at many family-run taco stands that I never would have found or stopped at on my own and all the food was delicious! The bikes were good quality. Our tour guide Homero (? spelling) was very friendly and I liked that we had a small group of only six people. 10/10 would recommend this tour to anyone who loves tacos!

Homero was very knowledgeable and had interesting insights, background stories, and further recommendations for places to eat. Riding the bikes was a lot of fun and a great way to experience different neighborhoods. We have been coming to PV for several years and every time we take a tour we always learn something new, try new places to eat and see different parts of the city we haven’t seen before. The bikes were very comfortable and we felt safe riding around town. I would highly recommend trying these guys out.

Although this tour starts right at 9:30AM, you will NOT be disappointed and you certainly won't have a problem knocking out the tacos, beer, treats and ice cream on this tour as you earn all of it pedaling around the cobblesone streets of Puerto Vallarta. Our guide Homero was an excellent resource, very kind and knowledgeable about his city, local beers and truly, the best tacos you will find in PV and quite honestly, just about anywhere (specifically the carnitas taco).
If you are on the fence about this tour, I would reccomend anyone that is comfortable on a bike to sign up (although the groups are limited to 8 and we were only a party of 2 when we went), going with a group of family or friends would be quite the experience. I for one look forward to going again with friends upon return to PV.

If I could give this tour a higher score I would. We bought the passes online and the email that was sent was very clear about where to meet, what time, and what stops we would be making. Our guides name was Homero and was so knowledgeable and friendly. We got lucky and were the only two on the tour at the time and got to know him a bit more. He seemed to know everyone!
He showed us small, hole and in the wall places all throughout Puerto Vallarta we would have never gone to if he had not showed us. The tacos were the best we have ever had, and we learned and saw more of the city this way.
Overall, such a great way to start off your trip. Great food, biking, and a great guide to help you along the way. Highly recommend this tour!

I absolutely loved this tour. I was anxious about it because of Covid, but my friend and I were the only people on the tour, which I really appreciated. I know that times are tough for tour companies like Vallarta Food Tours, so I'm grateful that they are doing so much to keep us safe. Now on to the tour...Homero had bikes and bottles of water ready for us and greeted us with information about himself and inquired about specific dietary restrictions from us. We are both non-restrictive eaters and were ready to eat some tacos! Homero took us to a couple of different stops in the 5 de Deciembre neighborhood and then we headed over to Zona. We tried four different types of tacos and had two kinds of desserts. I believe one of the stops is usually at Los Muertos Brewing company but neither of us drinks alcohol, so we stopped at an additional dessert spot. Despite having visited PV several times before, I learned a lot that I didn't know before doing this tour. I also got to try "tuba" for the first time and I fell in love. This was such a wonderful way to spend a few hours and I will recommend this tour and this company to anyone I meet who is visiting PV. Thanks for a great day!

Gio was the most friendly, knowledgeable, and entertaining guide You will sample authentic tacos from stands in the neighborhoods of PV that you never would visit as a tourist on your own. He explains the origin and process of cooking the meat for each location (and every one is different!), the different types of salsas and their origins and you get a little history of the city as well. Then you top it off with some local microbrewery beer (or sodas for kids) and a Oaxacan ice cream stop at the end. Our family loved it! You will have a hard time eating tacos in the States after this tour!

Hi! Our son is almost 2 years old. Is there an infant seat / toddler seat we can put on the bike?

I did not see one. But contact the tour guide company. They are very friendly

I don't know exactly the total as we made multiple stops - send an inquiry to their website for an exact number - it was very leisurely and easy

We have a group of 12 hoping to do the Puerto Vallarta Bikes and Bites tour on Nov 27. Is it possible to all go together? Also, one of the kids is 12 years old, is he able to participate?
Thank you
Written September 6, 2019
Yes - although it might take a little longer, and I’d book ahead so it will only be you 12 + the guide, or gave two groups + guides. We had six on our tour plus the guide. There is one brewery on the tour so you might ask the operators about your 12 year old and they may be able to modify that one stop. Your whole group will enjoy it!!
