- Jill L00Great trip!Such a great choice for our family of four. We knew we didn't want a big 8 hour long booze cruise with 100 people. It was fantastic to go out with just the four of us and our super knowledgeable helpful guide! (I'm terrible at names... I want to say it was Christina? But that doesn't sound right.) She helped us navigate where to snorkel safely, see great things, and stay away from crowds when other boats came. There are definitely some currents so you'll want to be a good swimmer or at least let her know what your swimming level is so she can make the experience good for you. I loved that we got to go through the arches! and the water was clear and we could see to the bottom easily. It's not crystal blue Caribbean water, but it was still beautiful. The boat was comfortable and had shade. We got a nice sightseeing trip on the way back and got to see a lot of sights from the water and learn about the area. It was really fun! 100% would recommend.
- AlyssaH91900Magical dolphin encounter!!!Thalia was incredible!! She knows the pods so well and dozens of the dolphins have names. They recognize her boat motor and her whistle. She was beyond respectful of them. No chasing. No feeding. Just truly “asking” if they wanted to play and come meet us. She passed some dolphins because it was clear they didn’t want to see us. Then others she said “jump in! They want to play!” And sure enough they would come close to check us out and circle us and swim trying to get us to copy them. It was magical. Thalia clearly cares about the animals and respects them tremendously. I would never ever do a dolphin encounter with dolphins in captivity. It’s torture for them (truly). In this setting WE were THEIR entertainment and not the other way around. 6 stars if I could!!
- Annmendez00Experience of a lifetimeWhat an incredible experience. Thalia is so knowledgeable. We saw over 28 whales. Thalia can spot them from over 2 miles away.
- Meadowood201800Touring PVWe had a wonderful tour of Puerto Vallarta that included a butterfly sanctuary situated on 3 acres . About a 5 hour tour with the butterfly sanctuary taking 1 hour. We even had a chance to release butterflies that were about 3hrs old. You will have to go to hear the legend of releasing butterflies! We opted for a city tour that took us to areas away from the tourist areas. We had a wonderful guide, Vicho, who was full of knowledge about Mexico, the history, current events, and shared a Iove for his own neighbourhood. Lunch was included at a lovely little restaurant we would never have found on our own. I wish I remembered the name so I could give it a plug but I don't. Would definitely us Vallarta Natours again and would love to spend more time with Vicho.
- BPHstnSMA00Best Whale Watching at Puerto VallartaWhale watching at the finest level with a legit marine biologist! Fantastic educational and delightful tour of the Bay of Banderas at Puerto Vallarta. Felt the respect that Thalia, her brother and the team have for these amazing creatures as well as their caring for clients on board. Small group, not a crowded boat, makes this a much better personal experience. Dream come true for me. Fabulous time and will try their other marine tours when whale watching season is over. 🌺💕
- 176wendyn00Don’t miss this tour!Amazing experience. Small group and confortable boat. Everything was top notch. Informative and entertaining. We saw whales all over the bay. We went place a some of the other tour boats could not. 1st class organization. Thalia loves her whales. She has been doing this for many years and treats clients with respect. Education and conservation are her goals. Do not miss this tour
- BNAEye100Whales, turtles and more!If I could give 10 stars I would! Thalia’s knowledge and love for the bay and all that surrounds it is clear. Can’t even count the number of whales we saw! All well within the safety guidelines for her clients and most importantly the wildlife who make the bay their home. Will return each time we return to PV. Trust your trip to the best!
- 492gl00Once in a lifetime experienceFirst of all let me say that I love whales, and I was looking for a small boat excursion with a knowledgeable guide. Our tour met both these wishes. We saw a few whales and were heading back in when we stopped by a boat where a whale was playing with them it was fantastic. The boat left and the beautiful male came to our boat, He stayed with us for 20 to 30 minutes, went all around the boat, poked his head out, sprayed us with 'whale snot', was very curious about us as we were about him. The experience was so amazing, thank you to Vallarta Natours.
- MandL8300Great time whale watchingOur tour was captained by Angel and guided by Thalia. Both were great at locating the whales while maintaining a safe distance (for us and the whales). Thalia expertly shared much information on the humpbacks, including their annual trek to Banderas Bay and the mating rituals between the males & females. We thoroughly enjoyed the smaller group we had (6 guests and 3 staff) on the boat, which allowed plenty of excellent viewing for everyone. Highly recommend. Plan to book early as the smaller group size fills quickly.
- MawCincinnati00Incredible tour!Thalia, the owner and our guide was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. She explained the habits of whales and we were able to see many whales displaying these habits. Thalia and the captain, Angel, were experts at finding the whales and were diligent in their efforts to ensure that we followed the whales in a manner that did not cause them distress. The tour itself was incredible and the best part was when we saw a momma whale teaching her baby whale how to breach! What a great experience for our family and we had a very nice lunch with snacks on our way back to the marina. We have been on several whale watching tours on our trips to Puerto Vallarta, but this was by far the best tour ever.
- Roam25895000Magical dolphin encounterWe spent a magical half day swimming with dolphins and watching whales. Thalia was so knowledgeable and made sure the best interests of the animals always came first. This experience was a highlight of our time in Puerto Vallarta. I can't recommend it more highly!
- msmalilama00Such a great experienceThalia was a great tour guide and she is very knowledgeable about whales and sea life. I learned a lot and saw a lot! We even saw four male whales fighting over a female with a calf! I would highly recommend Vallarta Tours and Thalia as your tour guide!
- Happytangents00Wonderful and excitingThis was an absolutely worthwhile tour! The fact that the boat was a fairly small one (not one of those yacht-sized boats) made for a really exciting and personal experience. The guide was knowledgeable and was able to share a lot of wonderful research-oriented information and watching tips. The group was also small: in addition to our family of 5, there was only one other tourist. Additionally, with these smaller boats, you're legally able to get a little closer to the whale-spotting areas. Plus we had whales (and dolphins) swimming near the boat multiple times! Honestly, I was a little nervous about the length of the tour since I had young children (three kids ages 3-7), but they had such a memorable time (my three-year old did take a short nap during the middle of it). Also, the guides packed food and drinks for us, which was a pleasant surprise and such a kind gesture! Highly recommend!
- Barbi042200Whale Watching Dec 2022Excellent tour! Thalia is very knowledgeable & an amazing tour guide. I have visited Puerto Vallarta 7 times & this has been, by far, my favorite excursion
- annasF7937ML00Best whale watching tour!Vallarta Natours is the best! This was my second time going whale watching with Thalia. She is so informative and respects the whales and the ocean. I took my caught and her partner for the morning excursion and it was great. Saw many whales and also stopped so we could hear them calling each other under water. It’s a magical experience and I highly recommend them.

The view in the boat next to the caves is great, but that's it. The water is very murky, not a lot of coral reef and fish to see. The snorkeling tours locally out there sell you a 1 hour trip, but the actual snorkeling time is less than 25 mins. Would not recommend this place to any one for snorkeling.

Dear traveler
We are sorry to learn that you had such a bad experience, how ever you are mentioning "snorkeling tours" of an hour. May you have reserved a panga out of Mismaloya?
Are you looking to review in th actual zone : Los Arcos, or specifically a boat operator?
Our snorkeling exclusión to Los Arcos is 4 hours long with a marine biologist on baord who goes in the water with you and explains about what is been seen, we have 2 snorkeling stops, we offer all lunchwith snacks and soft beverages.
In case the water is merky ( which is something nobody can control), we always move further, to reach some areas where the water visibility will be better.
Hope you give us a chance, some day, to host you, so you can experience a great snorkeling.

The food and drink on the boat and beach was abysmal and I am not fussy! More importantly Los Arcos is beautiful, not enough time to just float and enjoy. Very few fish / coral and too many boats on the upside beach is gorgeous and people very welcoming. Rather than advertise as a snorkeling adventures and have disappointed customers, might be better to focus on scenery, the boat trip and experience of a different beach (and turn the music down on the boat - way too loud so unpleasant

We are sorry you had such a bad experience.
However you may gone with some other tour operstor. We don't have drinks, nor loud music on our small eco-friendly excursion.
We leave with no more than 10 guests at a time, our guide is a marine biologist that snorkels along with the group, explaining and showing as much sea life as possible.
We leave earlier than most boat. Just to avoid the crowds and be able to be Int the water for a longer period of time, without having lots of snorkelers around
Give us a chance to host you, and you'll see what a great time you can have with us

This was one of the best snorkeling tours my family has been on. It was great having Thalia (marine biologist) on to answer all questions about Los Arcos and marine life. The snorkeling was not rushed at all. She was absolutely wonderful with our daughter which made for a great trip.

After experiencing man snorkeling trips in the past, I was looking forward to getting in the water to see the marine life around Puerto Vallarta. However, I was not expecting the experience that we received.
Thalia, our Marine Biologist, tour guide was an incredible surprise for our day on the water. We were not just dropped in the water to swim around as most past tours did. Thalia gave us an incredible overview of the marine life in the area as well as what we could expect for the season of our dive. In addition, she continually gave commentary during the day of not only the marine life but the rock formations, bird life, and history of the area.
During our dives should would carefully collect star fish or urchins for us to see up close while she explained their anatomy before carefully replacing them to their perch. Thalia has a passion that just makes you smile and makes for an incredible trip. I would highly recommend a day on the water with her. You will not be disappointed. Get out there and enjoy the wonders of Puerto Vallarta.

What a nice surprise it is to read reviews like yours!
Definitely a great way to start our day, and keep working with a big smile on our face.
We cannot aim, nor ask for anything less than our guests having a fully enjoyable educative outdoors experience.
As you correctly mentioned, it's all about getting out there, enjoying and embracing nature- She will provide with all we need!
GRACIAS!

Our family had the opportunity to go snorkeling with two separate tours while in Puerto Vallarta. Vallarta Natours was by far the superior experience over the larger tour. We saw far more marine life and we’re able to explore a much larger and much more beautiful area. Thalia’s vast knowledge as a marine biologist provided our curious kids (and us too) with an amazing education and a ton of fun! Los Arcos is absolutely beautiful and Thalia brings you out early enough to beat the crowds. Wonderful day!

Dear Michelle,
Thank you for allowing us to be part of your family vacations. Nature is best appreciated in smaller groups. The bases for ecoturism: Respect, education, support, awareness....having kids on oard makes the experience so much better. We get to see it all through their eyes, we learn next to them and marvel the same way. It's like starting over and fall in love again with what we do.
Many many thanks.

Thalia and the boat captain took our small group comfortably to Los Arcos from Vallarta Marina. Thalia is a marine biologist who provides clear and interesting dialog about the fish, mammals, birds and other sea life around Los Arcos. When a porpoise or whale surfaced, the captain took the boat over for a respectful distanced, closer look. No, Rolling Stones or Tequila blaring or being drunk but a complete, peaceful and wonderfully led tour of a wonder of nature. Thalia speaks fluent French, English, and Spanish so most could take advantage of her insights and knowledge. The trip left early, so we beat the mad rush of 300+ per boat snorkeling tours that invade the Arcos later in the day. Lots of colorful reef fish and other sea life and definitely worth every penny paid.

Any day out with guests is special and different thanks to the input and kindness of each person.

We spent an amazing 1/2 day on the beautiful waters with Lisandro. Close up views of Los Arcos and the blue-footed boobies, to snorkeling the walls of Mismoloya. Great guide and a fun time.

If you like snorkeling this is a great tour. You get taken out to Los Arcos islands in the Bay of Banderas on a beautiful clean boat with a marine biologist who really knows her field. We couldn't fault this tour. We were given lots of informative details on the bay and the different fish, corals, dolphins, whales etc, etc that inhabit the area. We even saw turtles. Simply an awesome experience. One we will never forget.

Small group was very interesting as you got to know everyone. The marine biologist was very knowledgeable. She watched and lead us, at a slower pace which give you time to look at the fish and marine life, not just swmming to try and keep up. No booze on this tour but that was actually quite pleasant. Sandwiches and snacks are provided. Was a bit more than other tours, but WELL WORTH IT!

Nothing in Nature cannot be rushed. Nor would our tours, since each part of our tours is considered thoroughly to enhance the enjoyment of the experience at its fullest.
All our senses are to be turned on, feel the current and water temperature, see the beauty under and above water, hear the sounds of waves, birds and marine animals, smell the oceans perfume and taste home made lunch ... You will feel the love we put into everything we do.
Thank you

I am 70 and a little overweight I love to snorkel however depending on the type of boat I have trouble getting back in the boat so does your boat just have a ladder over the side where you have climb straight up the side to get back in?? We are coming at the end of May. Thank you

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and am overweight! The crew I had was VERY helpful. They have a very good ladder that they put at the back of the boat and they help you in. This is always a concern with me when I attempt to snorkel BUT THIS WAS THE BEST CARE AND SERVICE THAT I RECEIVED. Just express your concerns when you get on the boat and they will help! Hope this was helpful. Have fun!!

Not sure about the water temperature, but I think they are pretty consistently warm there. I would suggest a T-shirt or better an SPF water shirt or wet suit. I did not feel cold here but my sister did, but she pretty much always gets goose bumps! The water is not especially fought because there is protection. If you are an average swimmer you should be able to swim through the arches, don’t be afraid, it is amazing!

Hi, approx. how much time would I spend in the water snorkelling? If my wife came who does not want to snorkel, would she be bored or are there other things to do? Are we likely to see any whales or dolphins where you go, end of March, beginning of April? Thanks.

We saw dolphins and the crew is very keen on making the trip interesting. As for being bored, well well well, you are from London, you've been cold for months, and on this trip, you will be in the southern Pacific with tropical breezes, wondrous nature all around and great Mexican hospitality and safety. Taking a long bus ride home from the Tube is boring - this trip won't be. There are some really goofy 200+ person tour boats that have bands, silly skits, buffet food (awful) and drunk foreigners. This trip is very different and intimate. Not so much the cattle boat. Cheers and I wish you a great trip.

do you have to stay in the water the whole time or can you get back into boat?

This is a very comfortable, safe excursion and you can get in when you are tired or had enough. I must tell you that they do not rush you, in fact the marine biologist encourages you to stop, rest, float and let the fish come to you.
