The tour was informative and we got to see the city and mountain area of Puerto Vallarta. Our guide Thomas and photographer Ramon were awesome. Our first stop was by the beach where the Puerto Vallarta sign is located then we walked over to a nice picturesque church. After that we headed over to a jewelry shop and a leather shop. The two shops provided beverages and restrooms. We headed up the mountain to a coffee farm and got to taste their coffee. I bought a bag of strong espresso coffee. Then we headed over to a tequila factory where we tasted a flight of different tequilas and how it is made. I bought a bottle of the creamy tequila to enjoy with my coffee. The down turn of the tour was the restaurant located by the tequila factory. The food and drinks was subpar and they charged a lot for the mediocre dishes. It is best to have pesos or use a card during this excursion because they charged more for the exchange rate to the American dollar. Overall, I would suggest this excursion just skipped the restaurant and eat a full breakfast before going and just have a beer at the restaurant.

We had a great day with Pablo our guide. (I am not sure this is the right company, it's the one with the neon orange shirts). We learned a bunch and enjoyed the company. Just know that the places they take you to shop are overpriced for Mexico- do your shopping in Rio Cuale market on your own.
The presentation at the Tequila distillery was the highlight - the presentation was very entertaining and the Tequila was great (but kinda spendy). We still ended up with two bottles of the pecan liquor because OMG! So good!

We booked this tour last minute so we’re thankful that they will able to include squeeze us in. This is a good way to see downtown sights and to know a little about the culture and history. There were quite a few sales stops but they are tolerable. Carlos is a great tour guide as he really knows his stuff and knows how to interact with the group.
All in all, I’d recommend this tour for those who want to do something low-key and inexpensive.

First we were told we will be in a small van to keep the group intimate for easy communication, then we were all herded into a huge bus. The tour guide have extensive outlines in Spanish and short talks in very broken English that was difficult to understand. The downtown walk was pleasant and the church beautiful to behold. Then the bus couldn’t meet us due to traffic issues and we had to walk 20min to the next stop for “shopping”. This was a typical tourist trap jewelry store with endless busses dropping off tourists to do some jewelry shopping. This was NOT on our itinerary and if it was, I would not have picked this tour! Then we were off to the tequila factory at the end of a very long windy coastal road. But first we had to visit a coffee “factory” which was indeed another tourist trap...this time a place with a small roaster, a brief talk and taste and then shopping for useless souvenirs, which was the main reason why we were there. The coffee side of the business was a trick to get tour bus us to stop there. Again, this is not on the itinerary. Well, then off to taste some tequila. This factory is situated on a very bumpy dirt road against a hill. We were herded into a restaurant to buy food options on display which was then cooked while we were taking in the tequila factory. The restaurant is another overpriced tourist trap where you’re charged M$50 for a small bottle of water. The tequila side of the tour was real, short and interesting and the tasting was good.

This tour hit many different highlights of the city and the guide was very knowledgeable, funny, and helpful. We got to explore the downtown region, a coffee plantation, and tasted tequila at a distillery. The food was absolutely amazing at the distillery. This was a great experience!

Carlos was the best. We didn’t want to do anything extravagant or heavy so we decided on a City Tour and for the price it was AWESOME! To top it off we ended with a Tequila Tasting which was so unexpected. Highly recommend this tour.

As a Travel Agent it’s important for me to experience tours and events to be able to speak real time to my clients.

Excellent tour of the city with our guide Eric who made the day really enjoyable for all. We were in a small group and saw lots of the main sights in the city, stopping several times for photos. Included in the tour was a visit to a chocolate factory, and tequila tasting. We ended with a lovely lunch. Would definitely recommend this tour.

Rather than repeat what has already been written, please allow me to refer to the review on Jan 16, 2021 by rbrow018. I took the identical trip with Jorge and Carlos. The main difference is that I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Obviously the pandemic has taken a viscous roll, so I understand why several sales stops were made to support the survivors. None seemed too lengthy or obtrusive.

Lunch at the tequila distillery was reasonably priced considering the quality of fresh seafood offered. They were happy to reduce my meal since I was the only single among several couples. I was invited to join one of the couples who had ordered the same dish. It was obvious they had been completely fair - a half portion for half the price. And the food was delicious; better than at Vidanta and less than half the price!

The entire tour was a pleasant surprise, especially the tour guide Jorge. His personal and private quest is to save Macaws from the brink of extinction. From three birds to a healthy flock of sixty or more. People like him, who do good deeds without fame or fortune are rare jewels (better than at the silver shop)!

I hope you select this tour and are as delighted as I was.

Amazing Vallarta tour – booked through Sunwing
We booked this trip through our sunwing rep at the hotel and found the price changed depending which rep we talked to – so it’s worth asking what their best price really is.

Like other people have said in the reviews a lot of time for this tour is spent on a bus or being told to follow the tour guide here and there with not enough time alone time to look around. One of the stops was in a market and was told to be back in 30 minutes. Another stop was at their silver jewellery store and it felt obvious this store gives a cut to the tour guide, they told us we would be spending 30 minutes in the jewellery store. No I don’t think so! We had no desire to spend 30 minutes in a store with overpriced silver. We walked in and right out and walked around other stores nearby and got the very cold shoulder from the tour guide as he wanted us to stay in the jewellery store.

Tequila Distillery: the guide that explained the tequilas was informative and you got some samples and then directed over to the area to buy pre-packaged easy to carry bottles. It’s intimidating and felt like we should buy a bottle, but after getting home feel it was over-priced.

Restaurant: The last stop was the Restaurant for a traditional Mexican Lunch. Let me clarify the lunch was chicken or fish with a baked potato which I wouldn’t call traditional Mexican however they did have a tortilla and black beans served on the side. Our price of the tour included the lunch otherwise we would not have paid the prices they were charging.

Tour Hours: The bus picked us up at 8:00am from the hotel and we returned at 3:30. At least 3 hours was spent on the bus getting to our destination and back.

Tour Guide: The tour guide was what I would say semi friendly on the drive, a bit informative but on the trip back he didn’t say much at all just please leave a tip for the driver

Would I take this tour again? No...too much time on a bus and being taken to places where the tour guide made us feel uneasy

This tour of Puerto Vallarta was very nice. It was easy going and not rushed. The tour guide Mario was very good. He told us a lot about the city and every place we went was it’s own adventure from the cacao magic where we were told how chocolate candy is made. Hot cocoa and samples of candy were included. Our Lady of Guadalupe was a beautiful cathedral both inside and out. The driver Carlos was also nice and very helpful especially to the ladies with walking issues. Sightseeing and shopping was fun. The only downside was that we couldn’t stop for photos of the waterfalls and the large mounds in the ocean . The tour of the tequila distillery was supposed to explain how tequila was made but we just sampled the drink. The guide was entertaining. I would have enjoyed more sightseeing. The van was not great for taking photos from the window unless you were sitting at the window seat. The tour was longer than advertised.
