    Gustavo is awesome!
A wonderful experience! Our guide Gustavo was charming, and well informed- not only about the restaurant scene, but also local history, architecture and culture. We plan to return to some of the new to us restaurants that we visited. Highly recommended!

Great way to experience the Versalles PV food scene!
The 4 of us had a fun time sampling plenty of excellent local foods and learning about the local restaurant food scene. Katelin was our terrific guide; she was friendly, outgoing and so informative! She knows the PV food scene well and had recommendations throughout the area. We all enjoyed our tour, learned a lot and had plenty of good food to eat. We’ve been back to a few of the restaurants already! I highly recommend Vallarta Eats Food Tours!

A showcase for some of the many wonderful taste experiences this amazing city has to offer.
My husband and I had a great time on this tour. We visited four restaurants, each very different from the others. The first was a tiny "hole in the wall" with Argentinian and Italian food - not a combination I expected, but every thing was delicious, including the wine from Argentina. Next was a chile relleno and a very classic Caesar salad in a restaurant that showed slides from old PV on the wall across the street - a bit of history with our food! Next a very modern and creative Mezcal place on the Malecon with superb ceviche, Mezcal drinks and a great taco. Finally, flaming bananas and flan at the River Cafe. Gustavo, our guide, was full of great stories about the food, this terrific city and some of his own experiences. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour, and recommend it (and him!) highly...

Great food experience in Puerto Vallarta
Karla and Abraham were our guides and they were both professional, attentive and top notch! If you are interested in Real Mexico and some of the foods the people here enjoy- join this tour. A variety of styles of food and toppings. If you have food allergies - let them know- they can make accommodations. Groups are 10 or less which is super manageable. Lots of walking, education and fun. All communication before hand was clear and dealing with the company was easy. Our cruise ship arrived an hour late- we only learned of the change a few days before the cruise started. I let them know and we were able to still make the tour in time. You also get to see the many Mexican families who run these small businesses and see how hard they work. We also got to experience a real local food market. Thank you

Untouristed Taco Tour with Karla (with a K)
Karla was an absolutely outstanding guide! Her extensive knowledge, friendly demeanor, and effortless charisma made this tour an unforgettable experience. She has a natural talent for connecting visitors with the heart of Puerto Vallarta, introducing you to hidden taco gems that you’d never find on your own. As a true local, Karla is deeply in touch with her community, and it’s evident in the warm welcomes she receives everywhere. Her vibrant energy is contagious, and her ability to switch seamlessly between witty English and Spanish adds a delightful touch of humor that makes you feel right at home. The Untouristed Taco Tour isn’t just about eating amazing tacos (though the food is spectacular!); it’s about experiencing the pride and love behind each family-owned spot. Karla has a knack for highlighting this, making the tour a journey through the rich culture and incredible flavors of Puerto Vallarta. Each stop is a staple of the local community, and the passion behind the food shines through in every bite. Having Karla as our guide elevated this experience beyond what we could have imagined. She made us feel like part of her neighborhood, and her pride in showcasing the beauty and flavor of Puerto Vallarta was truly inspiring. If you’re booking this tour, do yourself a favor and ask for Karla (with a K). You’ll leave with a full stomach, a happy heart, and memories to cherish forever.

Great way to experience Mexico's food, history and culture!
Our guide, Jenny, was fantastic. She gave us all kinds of insights into Mexican history and traditions - things we didn't know even after coming to Puerto Vallarta 20 times or more. There was so much food we couldn't eat it all, but they were willing to package things up so we could enjoy them later at home. Also we were glad there were plenty of bathrooms available along the way. One warning, though: remember you are paying for the time and knowledge of the guide. The food itself would not cost more than 1/3 of the overall price.

    Puerto Vallarta Progressive Dinner
The progressive dinner was excellent. The food was great — although, way too much. The drinks were great. We got a good cross section of Mexican food. Our guide, KaitlIn, was helpful, knowledgeable, informative, and a true pleasure to be with. Overall — a great experience.

Hard to choose a favorite - they’re all great!
Karla guided us through the lovely neighborhood of Versalles and made sure we ate well and ate a lot (they looked like LITTLE tacos, it they packed in the flavor!). Karla has a lot of good energy and is friendly with everyone she passed in this bustling and comfortable neighborhood.

Finding the perfect food tour can be a challenge, especially when your time in a destination is limited. After some research, we struck gold with Vallarta Eats Food Tours during our stay in Puerto Vallarta—and it was an experience we won’t forget.

Our group of five adults and a two-year-old embarked on a 3.5-hour journey through the local food scene. While the length might seem daunting at first, time flew by as we strolled the charming streets, stopping at authentic eateries to sample a wide variety of Mexican dishes. What stood out was the thoughtful diversity of the menu: instead of focusing on just one style or dish (like burritos prepared five different ways), this tour offered a culinary adventure that let us explore the rich and varied world of Mexican cuisine.

One of the highlights of the tour was our guide, Kevin. Originally from Mexico City, Kevin brought a unique perspective to the Puerto Vallarta food scene, blending insights into local culture with his knowledge of Mexican gastronomy. His warm personality and focus on the group made the experience extra special. Unlike some guides who can become distracted or impersonal, Kevin remained fully engaged, ensuring that everyone—yes, even our toddler—felt included.

For one member of our group headed to Mexico City after Puerto Vallarta, Kevin even offered insider tips on must-see attractions and local dining spots—a delightful bonus. His passion for food and culture was infectious, and his personal attention to the group added a genuine connection that made the tour feel intimate and tailored.

If you’re planning a trip to Puerto Vallarta, Vallarta Eats Food Tours is an absolute must. It’s the perfect way to immerse yourself in the local flavors, learn about the culture, and enjoy a unique experience that goes far beyond simply eating. Whether you’re new to Mexican cuisine or a seasoned traveler looking to broaden your palate, this tour is the perfect mix of fun, flavor, and discovery.

Don’t miss out—this tour is a standout among food tours and an experience you’ll be talking about long after your vacation ends. Bon appétit! 🌮✨

Karla was our guide, and it happened to be a private tour since no one else booked for our time slot. Karla was fantastic: very warm, knowledgeable, generous. Took photos at each location for us. Never rushed us and even then it still took the full 3 hours. The tour changes the locations of where you go depending on availability as well as your dietary restrictions.

As for the food, it was overall very good. Started off breakfast (10:30) with chilaquiles which wasn't our favorite - it's very simple. Thereafter, it got much better: 4 more stops for birria (excellent), seafood tacos (very good), burrita machaca (my favorite), and then adobado tacos (very nice). You end with ice cream (I tried being adventurous and as usual, paid the price as I didn't like it) and then a visit to a nut/candy vendor (nuts were very tasty, but I didn't want to buy any).

I have a weak appetite, especially early in the day, so i was super full by location 3 so, pace yourselves.

Would definitely recommend to everyone who visits here as you also get a great tour of the city itself.

We had an amazing time on the Taco Tour. Karla was a phenomenal guide. She took the time to explain where we were going and the historical context of the things we were eating as well as some interesting details of the families that owned the various restaurants. Karla also went out of her way to be sure everyone in our group was comfortable and able to enjoy themselves. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to get off the beaten path and enjoy the local cuisine.

We had a great tour of tacos...Alberto was an excellent guide, explaining the history and culture that influenced Mexican cuisine, and the value of corn in the western hemisphere. The old part of town we traversed was not part of the tourist area, but full of local citizens. The tour gave us a more nuanced view of the city, and Mexico, than tourists normally experience.

We loved this tour, would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Puerto Vallarta for the first time.

We stumbled on the tour when we saw their sign our first night in town. We paid for the tour directly through their site. We thought it was a little expensive at first ($55 USD per person), but changed our minds by the time the tour was done.

The rest of the people in our time slot did not show up, so we had a tour with just the two of us and the owner, Stephen. We were really glad we did this tour the first full day of our trip, because it set us up for so much success.

Every single place we ate was amazing. Stephen made sure we had plenty of food and we left absolutely stuffed (I don't think we even ate the rest of the day honestly). We actually ended up going back to a couple of the places that we ate at during the tour so that we could try some other things.

Stephen was an amazing guide. He answered all of our questions and helped us get comfortable with ordering food (we don't speak any Spanish) and finding the best, non-tourist trap places to eat so that we could feel confident the rest of our trip. He also knew a lot of history, which I always love hearing about. He also provided his email so we could ask questions later in our trip if needed, and he sent us a link to all the places we ate and pictures he took of us mid tour (the only pictures we got of the two of us together the whole trip actually).

If you don't speak Spanish and you're feeling a little overwhelmed about how to get the most out of Puerto Vallarta, definitely take this tour. Its worth every penny.

Thank you for the comprehensive and insightful review. You definitely addressed a lot of points that we hear from guests, and it's nice that they can get the answer from someone who has experienced the tour. and not just hear it from us. It was a real pleasure showing you around Old Town and I'm always happy to hear when we can introduce guests to spots they find good enough to return to. Thank you again for taking the time to write such a thorough recap of your experience with Vallarta Eats.

It was great to be away from tourist areas, visiting local eateries alongside the people who work and live in Puerto Vallarta. We tasted fabulous tacos as well as chilaquiles and burritos. Karla was superb as guide. Her friendliness towards our group was matched by her camaraderie with the staffs of the eateries, which was delightful. And, she explained so much about how the food was prepared, the ingredients, as well as the different proprietors who had operated in the neighborhood for decades. A wonderful tour!

This tour took us to some great places we wouldn’t have been able to find on our own, and each taco was unique and delicious. Karla was an incredible guide and knowledgeable about the area and the food traditions, answering all of our questions and making this tour educational as well as great fun. Her bright energy, friendly nature, and enthusiasm made this a very enjoyable experience, and I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to try delicious food and see the Zona Romantica of Puerto Vallarta.

This was a well-organized, fun, informative and DELICIOUS experience! Our guide Manuel has excellent knowledge and communication skills. He was on time and the meeting spot was very easy to find. We enjoyed a great walk through old Vallarta, stopping for generous servings of authentic Mexican tacos and other food. Throughout, Manuel gave us loads of interesting information and was very considerate of everyone’s needs. I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to experience something different (and in my opinion better) than the typical tourist activities, and also eat some of the best food you’ll taste. In addition, the price was very reasonable and we got more food than we even needed - you WON’T leave hungry!

This food tour was my favorite thing on our vacation. Chris did a great job of explaining not only what we were eating, but the significance of the chosen restaurant and some history of the area. Very walkable and very filling!! We did the taco tour with added drinks. The only hiccup was that the churro place was too busy, but we made up for it with bonus chocolate at our last stop. I have a shellfish allergy and got alternate options at the two seafood locations we went to, and a vegetarian on our tour was accommodated for as well.
