          Great alternative to ship excursions.
Tour guide was very knowledgeable. The price was phenomenal for what you get. Definitely will use Viator for future travel adventures.

          Puerto Vallarta overview
Excellent day trip- only regret is that we did not spend enough time in town. I would’ve rather had 20 more minutes there and eliminated one of the other stops.

          Not thrilled, just average
I will say this. The tequila shop tour and tasting ensured an extra star to this review, plus the fact that they pick you up and drop you off at your hotel. Barely spent anytime at the oceanfront/Malecon (which I was hoping), and quickly found myself in overpriced shops (chocolate tasting, jewelry store, leather shop, coffee shop with people attempting to sell expensive carpets). When I sign up for a tour, I expect more scenic picturesque locations, and decent length of time taking photos and learning about each important landmark, instead of a clear ploy to tourist trap. By far my biggest gripe was an uncomfortable ride in the van. I'm 6'3 and found myself severely squished, not to mention an extremely bumpy ride on the cobblestones and uneven roads. A warning for those who get carsick or suffering a hangover, this is not a tour you want to try. All in all it was only $29 CAD and I didn't spend on anything else. Buyer beware, and if you're hoping for a scenic tour prepare to be severely disappointed. Would recommend people just taking an uber to downtown or the Malecon and exploring that way.

This was a great tour....Michael was our tour guide and he was terrific. We enjoyed the various stops and the drive. The tour of the small tequila distillery was fun. The tour was well organized and moved along at a good pace. Raul and Miquel, who were the west jet reps at the resort were very helpful

          Long trip on bumpy bus
Transportation terrible.Bus old, windows were rattling, view from windows were somewhat obstructed because tinting was peeling and bubbly. It was raining and bus was leaking through windows. Should have taken smaller vans and less rattling on road. Tour guide Jorge was excellent! But. Because of length of trip in such an uncomfortable vehicle, it detracted from our enjoyment

          Countryside Jalisco
We booked with grey line tours . Hector was a very informative guide and Jose was an excellent driver! Hector relayed so many childhood stories about the area that is was easy to fall in love with this place. As we travelled from our hotel , Hector talked about the economy and pointed out the US Navel ship in the marina . As we quickly turned north out of PV , the countryside was a vast difference from the shops of PV. Roadside food stands selling fruits and clothes were dotted along the winding road . First stop after the “new bridge” was a tequila farm . Educating us on the family dynamics of a tequila distillery . Up the winding road Jose’s skills were again proven!!!! Hector pointed out variety of trees and the agave fields , telling us where his family would often stop on Sunday drives to San Sebastián ! Next was a coffee plantation in the heart of San Sebastián , the aromas !!! A wonderful lunch was supplied with options of beverages and deserts. More history was given and time for some walking around the town . It was a little cooler up here in the mountains so a little cafe was a welcome sight ! This tour was amazing and I learned a lot !

          Discovery Taco Tour
This is one of the best tours I've ever taken. So much fun. And the tacos were so good. Eric and Adrian provided lots of information but best of all they were very entertaining. Fun stories. Very personable. I highly recommend this tour.

Fabulous Discovery Taco Tour in Puerto Vallarta
We visited 4 local, non-touristy, neighborhood Puerto Vallarta restaurants to eat a variety of delicious tacos & drinks. Our superb guides, Eric & Adrien, were fun & informative. Highly recommend doing this tour with these two guides!

          BoringTour with terrible Tour Guide
The Tour Guide let people wander all over, at every stop we waited 10 to 15 minutes for everyone get back. At the last stop some of us chose not to get off. When we Realized the time, we told the bus driver the ship sailed at 430 argued that we had till 530. We had a schedule to prove we were right. The tour guide still didn't hurry people up. We made it back with 5 minutes to spare. He was very rude when we disembarked because w didn't leave him a tip. Stay away from Gray Line. He covered up his name tag so we couldn't report him

          A Great Day!
We just came back from our full day tour, traveling up the mountain to San Sebastián. Our Tour guide/ driver, Eric, was amazing! He drove expertly, and safely all day, while he gave us a multitude of local and historical information. We enjoyed a stop at a bakery, for delicious coffee and pastries. ( not included in tour price) Then travelled on to San Sebastián, where we toured this quant , 420 year old, historic town. In town we visited a jewelry store, the beautiful San Sebastián church, a coffee plantation, and craft market ( we bought a lovely table runner, that had been woven right there), We ended our visit to the town with a lovely lunch ( included). It was juice, tortillas, molé chicken, beans, rice and a Mexican meat dish. We then, carried on down the mountain to the “ tequila factory “, where we learned about the tequila making process from Alex, who then gave us tastes of the excellent tequila his family makes to be sold, exclusively, at this factory. Sebastián, the photographer, came along, taking many great photos. All in all, it was a great day, made excellent by Eric, with lots to do and see.

          SAN Sebastián Full Day Tour
What a fabulous day with our very informative and genuinely kind tour guide Eric! He taught us so much about the area - history, vegetation (who knew there were so many kinds of fruit trees and agave plants!) local people, etc. After a winding and climbing drive up the mountains (take Gravol if you are at all prone to motion sickness) we stopped at a bakery and purchased pastries and coffee (not included) in a very quaint setting. Next we stopped at a jewelry/silver/opal store. Then we drove another 30 minutes to the town of San Sebastián where Eric walked us through and taught us so much about the history. We visited a coffee plantation and sampled the coffee, visited the church and many other sites. Free time was given for wandering and shopping - prices are more expensive than Puerto Vallarta flee markets. Lunch (included) was an authentic Mexican meal - cheese tortilla, refried beans, rice, chicken molee, beef dish, and warm tortilla shells. On the way home we stopped at a tequila factory and learned how agave plants are turned into the liquor. Of course there is a shop to purchase the many flavours (quite expensive). A fantastic full day!!

Don't Miss this Excellent and Authentic Taco Tour
The taco tour, led by Erik, was amazing and included stops at four off the beaten path taco stands. The variety of tacos was outstanding and delicious. Erik shared his local knowledge at each stop as well as in the comfortable, air conditioned van. Our tour only had 7 guests and was the perfect size to get to know each other and have fun. In addition to the four taco stops, the tour included a refreshing ice cream stop, a tortilla factory, and some sights and sounds around bustling Mexican town. If you want to eat where the locals eat then this is the tour for you. At the last stop the icing on the cake was a tequila drink served in a beautiful souvenir clay mug. 100% recommend! It will be a highlight of your trip to PV. And one piece of advice, skip breakfast...this tour has lots of food.

          The Best Tacos ever !
We took the “Taco Tour” in Puerto Vallarta and it was excellent ! Our tour guide - Erik - did a great job driving and explaining all the local history and culture regarding Tacos. Erik helped us to step into the everyday life of the Mexican people - and sample the best tacos we’ve ever eaten :) Gracious Erik

This is an expensive ride! That’s all it is. They drive you out and drop you off in Sayulita and say they’ll see you in three hours. We spent 30 minutes in San Pancho prior. If there are more than two of you, save your money and Uber there. Catching the bus back is super easy and is 47 pesos per person. Taking it there is just as easy if you don’t want to Uber. Stupid us paid close to 3000 pesos for this trip and it would have been less than 300 pesos by bus round trip. And in the end we would have been able to spend more time in Sayulita. We were picked up at 9:20 AM and arrived back to our condo at 5 PM. We spent an hour driving around picking up people before even heading out. There was very little communication from our tour guide. But hey, the music was good. NEVER AGAIN! I am all for supporting Puerto Vallarta’s locals and the economy, but this markup is ridiculous.

Sayulita is a fun little town, and we would have enjoyed more time.

This was below all expectations. It was a van ride to San Pancho (walk around by yourself for 30 minutes) then ride to Salulita (walk around by yourself for 3 hours). Mario, our “guide” supplied no history, no facts, basically it’s just a long bus ride with two stops.
After three incredible tours with Vallarta Adventures, this was a complete bust.

The day trip to San Pancho and Sayulita was disappointing. Although the towns are interesting, instead of being a tour, it was basically a ride in an
old, cramped van with weak air conditioning. Although the tour guide was a nice man, he only shared a few facts about the towns. We only had 20 to 30 minutes in San Pancho which wasn’t nearly enough. Also, I thought we’d be picked up at our hotel. Instead we had to walk to a central meeting place in The Romantic Zone. I wish we had taken an Uber instead of this supposed tour.

        Great tour!
The guide was great and gave us an explanation and background of each town.
They pick you up from the hotel so that alone is pretty cool.
Overall the trip is great just watchout for the high prices in Sayulita. The beach was more chill and better for waves in San Pancho. Definitely recommended!!!
For food there are plenty of options, dont forget your Chocobanana!!!

Small group of 8 on the tour in air conditioned van. Was picked up at our hotel right on time.

Guide Ramon gave good history of both San Pancho and Sayulita.

30 minutes in San Pancho and almost 3 hours in Sayulita with lots of beach and walking time.

A very easy type of tour to get comfortably to Sayulita

Highly recommend the trip to Sayulita. The van picked us up and dropped off at our hotel lobby.
Great tour guide shared so much info on way up. We also stopped at San Pancho.
Loved how we parked at Don Pedro’s in Sayulita which allowed us to hop off and tour the streets. Loved the food and a quick dip in the water.

Just returned from a very long day. The van picked us up at our hotel at 9:15 and by the time we picked up other tourists it was 11 before we actually got started. It was a long ride to Sayulita and slow going due to the traffic and many speed bumps along the way.
Sayulita was cute little town with what looked like interesting shops and restaurants but we just went to the beach, had lunch on our own, rented chairs and left after an hour.
Back in the van to Punta Mita. Again very slow going and not worth it.
The guide was nice and knowledgeable but the overall experience long and disappointing.

We really loved Sayulita + San Pancho, we would go back to both of these places in the future to explore. The town was charming and there are so many options once you start walking around to eat, drink and shop. My recommendation is take the local bus or arrange a cab, it will be much less expensive and you would get there in 20-30 mins. If you do take this tour, do not buy lunch from them or where they drop you off. Wander down the beach or into the town centre.

Here are the several issues with this tour:

        1. We were picked up at our hotel as expected and then spent the next 2.5 hours driving around, being shuffled from van, cars, busses and stopping at many hotels to pick up people.

        2. Once we finally got on the road we came to San Pancho. We were given 20 min to go to the bathroom and checkout the beach. We had to pay to use the bathroom and stand in line for 5-10 with everyone from the bus. With our now 10 min. we grabbed a quick view of the water and then got back on the bus. I’m not sure what the point of this stop was, other then to check off the box that we went here. I’m sure the 2.5 wasted hours shuffling people was part of the time we would have had here.

        3. We arrived at Sayulita, the bus pulled up behind a restaurant right on the beach. It was at a prime location, very nice and this is where our guide (“Tommy”) brought us in through the back and had us seated for lunch. A few smart people just left and went down the beach. We were given menus (without prices, this should have been my first clue). We ordered our lunch there because we were so hungry by this point and only had 1.5 hours before we had to be back to the bus to return. We had researched ahead of time and expected to spend about $10 USD for lunch and $2 USD for a beer. We figured this place would be a little more but wanted to save time so we ordered 1 appetizer, 2 meals and 4 drinks and our bill was $110 USD!!! They charged us $8 USD for Pacifico beers that were $2 USD on every other spot on the beach. This was a total rip off and we were gauged by this restaurant.

        4. The tour details said we would have water provided and we had no water on the bus or anytime (luckily I packed a bottle from my hotel).

        5. We booked a Sayulita + boogie board trip, we were the only people with this tour booked and had to remind the guide. We only had 90 min. to eat lunch + do anything else. Our trip we booked wasn’t supposed to even go to San Pancho. We only had 1 hour by the time lunch was served and paid.

        6. We spent 4 hours driving there and back. We spent 1 hour and 50 min on the actual tour that was supposed to be a “Day Trip”. The actual time to go one way by cab or bus would be between 20-40 min.

Picked up at Marival Residences. Traveled to Sayulita (45 min) stopped at beach for 1.5 hrs (not advised to bring bathing suit), Toured businesses same stuff different day. Masses of vendors on beach more expensive than markets in Bucerias & Puerto Vallarta would not accept "NO" as an answer. Bathroom facilities there are no words for don't sit or touch anything & Wow the smell. You have bus loads of tourists going to this place. Really! nothing to do unless you go into water. Then traveled (20 min) to San Francisco to visit Chocolate Factory - no factory just a small cafe with the owner giving us a lesson on how chocolate is made; then toured a Community Centre & had a lesson in rudimentary re-cycling (Seriously) don't care I'm on holidays not a Church Mission; Toured town - businesses same; Went to beach for another 1.5 hrs (no bathing suit) had a drink/ Lets Go!!! Don't waste your $$ on this particular tour. Tour guide was Miguel who was fine but his talk included don't give the vendors more $ then they ask for as that becomes the norm, but give me & the driver a tip.

I would highly recommend any tour with Puerto Vallarta Discovery tours, and if you get Carlos Cisneros as your tour guide you will have so much fun! He's very informative and offers all kinds of cool information about Puerto Vallarta and the surrounding areas, as well as history highlights that make it more interesting. The rhythm of the pick-ups and getting to places is very culturally fitting: it's laid back, fun, has cute stops for trying different types of food, and a relaxed atmosphere both in San Pancho and Sayulita that will help your body totally unfold and help your heart rate smooth out! Don't miss out hanging with the Puerto Vallarta Discovery people and ask for Carlos! I promise you will love your time on the tour!
