About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- russypooh0 contributionsAmazing AdventureThe highlight of our trip to Puerto Vallarta. My BFF signed us up for the Zip Line for the Canopy River Zip Line. It was the best Zip Line experience ever! A wonderful setup. Javier and Rafael are the stars of the show. They made sure we were safe and having fun. The hike to the Jorullo Bridge and the horse ride to end our experience was a plus +. It's a great family outing, so don't miss out.Written October 13, 2024
- brandoni3310 contributionsA GREAT addition to your trip to Puerto VallartaSO COOL! And SO WORTH IT. This was my first ATV experience and I thought it was going to be over quick and it wasn't. We really got to enjoy riding, the sights, we took pictures on the bridge and at a small water fall. Got a break at a bar that sold snacks and had a rest area. The staff is so helpful and fun and they work really hard as well. The restaurant/tequila tasting afterwards was pretty cool as well. It was just what was neededWritten October 12, 2024
- A7883EWjamesc0 contributionsGreat 👍Amazing ATV ride definitely need to know a thing or two on how to drive them since it’s a complex course. Overall awesome just be prepared for a 3 hour bus tour there and back 😂Written October 11, 2024
- seanmJ7368QN0 contributionsIf you love adventure you should do thisDiego and Hector were amazing we have done a lot of zip lines and this was so unique a definite must do. We came when the river was high so that was extra fun and the donkey ride was a great new experience. Would definitely recommend.Written October 8, 2024
- 328stellaw0 contributions💩 experience..My husband and we're one of the first people to the restaurant after our tour. I went to the restroom to change my wet clothing, I was gone about 10 minutes. I gave my husband my order so that he could order while I was gone, but when I got back, every table other than ours had been served. My husband and I were the only WHITE Americans on the tour! We will absolutely NEVER come back here again! WOW is all I can..Written September 20, 2024
- Travis K0 contributionsBuyer beware. Unethical companyThe ride was nice enough. We prepaid tip but were still asked for tips. Then they prohibit cameras so that they can charge $20 per digital photo ($600 for our group). A complete rip off. The lady even said of she lowered the price the company would take it out of her paycheck. If that is true, this company should be ashamed of themselves. I highly recommend using another company.Written September 17, 2024
- rosariotV6139ZS0 contributionsAmazing ExperienceAMAZING !! Just one word needed for this experience, from the moment I arrived to the meeting point Alma the person giving us all the information on what to bring and what to wear she was awesome helped me make sure I was ready for this adventure, next the ride their was beautiful sight seen and driving thru PV was very entertaining thanks to the Best Driver Pepé he made sure we got there and back safe thanks Pepé, then arriving to the place wow It's Beautiful and relaxing. I did ATV and my tour guys Polo and Luis Angel were so helpful and very friendly always, they even helped me taking my pictures since I was there alone huge thanks for that. I also did zip lines which I recommend 10 of 10 for breathtaking views lots of walking but worth the trouble Saul and Ivan made the experience awesome, they also provided water for those walks thankfully. Also to finish this amazing adventure some great food and drinks and last but not least the great Tequila tasting, Kevin even showed me how to take a shot the right way to be able to actually enjoy tequila. I couldn't say enough of this experience and great staff that made all this possible. Thank you Canopy River!! Very recommended!Written September 5, 2024
- Travelingwith4teens0 contributionsStay awayIf you care about your safety, this is not the place to go. We have done other tours with them in the past and they were great. But the Outdoor Adventure tour is unsafe. Guides didn’t have us strapped in on the platforms, lightening all around us and still continued the tour- it was so bad the power was knocked out. The roller coaster zip line is the biggest issue. My daughter was not strapped in correctly and she broke a tooth because of it. The guide said it wasn’t the first time either. Stay awayWritten July 29, 2024
- Abigail D0 contributionsIf you do nothing else in PV, do this!!!I loved this combo ATV, zipline and horse back ride tour!!! Since I was staying in Sayulita I did take the Compestela bus to the Playa de Oro office. It pretty much drops you off right there. Check-in was quick, she just asked to see my license and I signed away my life and the bus picked us up at 12. We did one more stop and then we were on our way. We drove through downtown PV and the murals are absolutely gorgeous. First thing was the ATV, I've done 3 ATV tours this year in 3 different countries and it's hard to say which one was the best, but I think this may be the best one!! There were a lot of ATVs so if you like smaller tours, idk... Next up was the zipline, we had a really great group of guys that led the tour - I don't remember everyone, but Felix seemed like the lead guy. They were all good. I didn't feel unsafe in any way - even though I do question my sanity for going ziplining in the first place. Really exhilarating with beautiful views. I couldn't even tell you how many ziplines we did, but it was A LOT. And you will need to do some hiking to get from line to line - so take that into account. Once we were done we took the nice horses back to home base. I'm not a horse person, but it was fine. My horse was stubborn, but she got me back safely even though I was very scared. All in all, this is the tour to do. It is very much worth every penny. They do take pics as well at a cost, and you can get them at the end of the tour.Written July 28, 2024
- 541parisap0 contributionsThe best time ever!I HIGHLY RECOMMEND CANOPY RIVER! their activities are so much fun and their friendly staff positively adds to the experience. Our group did ATV along with the zipline + mule ride experience. I had the best time ever. Alex really made me feel comfortable and safe during the ATV experience. The whole group: Freddy, Ivan, Pedro and Johnny made our zip line experience one to remember. They were so fun, encouraging, and nice. I’ll always remember this excursion. Thank you to all the staff!Written July 10, 2024
- crystalrQ3478TY0 contributionsThey have it all! Check them out.My boys wanted to ride ATV's so we booked this tour. I chose a shorter tour due to hot weather and rainy season but now I wished we would have gone longer and maybe booked more than one tour. We had a great guide and the scenery is beautiful. We did the tequila tasting and ate at the restaurant. There were so many tours to pick from - you can really have it all here.Written July 9, 2024

- jamesfX422IS0 contributionsTotal excitement! We did the rzr, zip line, and mule ride tour. It was AWESOME!! Our guide on the rzr part was so sweet (believe his name was Ivan). He was also professional and made sure we followed his lead and stayed safe. Next was 11 zip lines and we switched to a new group of guides. They covered all the safety guidelines first and made sure our helmets and harness were on properly. IT WAS A BLAST! It was scary but my husband and I felt safe at all times. Next was a mule ride up the mountain which was very relaxing after all the excitement of the zip lines. We passed on the tequila tasting as we had a shot at the bar during the rzr ride. Side note: the tequila was very smooth. We highly recommend this tour and other tours at Canopy River- we did just the mule ride a few years ago.Written June 30, 2024
- monicasavell0 contributionsJavier and Jerry were the best guides EVER!!!!My 14 year old triplet daughters and I did the zip line tour. Our guides- Javier and Jerry ( brothers) were amazing. They were kind and patient and encouraging. We felt safe the whole way. Super fun and exciting tour. The hikes between the zip lines were an added bonus. The guides made the experience perfect for our family. Thank you for an amazing day!!!!!!Written June 29, 2024

Let me start off with that we had a large group and some of us it was their first time zip lining. I also want to note that the guides and staff were very polite. Complaints: the pre-zip instruction was rushed and not executed well, after our first zip some of the crew was injured because they did not properly instruct on the “breaking”. If u don’t break correctly, u will slam into the end of the zip. One of our group members got a large piece of skin taken off of her leg. The zip line platforms are way to close to the line, you rub and hit your butt when you take off and land on each platform. Granted the views are extraordinary. One of our group members tore her shorts and has a large laceration on her but from the platforms. No complaints on the free fall or rappelling. The Tarzan swing, again is too close to the platforms, we all hit the take off platform. About the river tubing, don’t waste tour money on this part, it’s a small float down the river (about 300-400 feet) over one rapid. The zip into the river is tiny, the only thing we enjoyed about this was it was a nice “cool off” from all the hiking. The mule ride: do not do this if you are not familiar with horse/mule riding. They literally tell u to jump on, give you the rope and say “go”. One of my friends was thrown off and fell on the rocks. They had a horse for her and set up the horse in front of a low lying branch, told her to jump on and go (she has never been on a horse) and the horse started to run, making her get closed lined by the branch. She now has large bruising all over her that she had to have for the remainder of our tip in Puerto Vallarta. The mule ride is completely uphill. You end the trip at the restaurant, which lunch/dinner is not included in the excursion, which wasn’t a big deal for us because the food was great and surroundings were beautiful, there is also a pool u can enjoy. I will be returning to Puerto Vallarta soon but I will not return to Canopy River. We almost did the ATV tour but so glad we didn’t because knowing now, the instruction would have lacked and maybe more would have been injured.

My daughter (19) and I (mom, 47) went on the tour for ziplining, rappelling and tequila tasting. I gave it a 4 star because the guides and experience was great. We loved the first two lines they were the best! Beautiful and high above the trees and river, unlike some others zip lines I have been on where they are barely off the ground. Loved that. The rappelling was fun... the inner tubing was fun but very short and I am thankful for the horse ride back up the hill! I did not give it a 5 star because it never specified that we weren’t doing all 11 lines we only did 5 with a couple other fun surprises, and only 2 repels. The guides were very professional and kind and helpful (Katya and Loony) but it seemed they needed to hurry to the next group. The views were beautiful and I would have loved to have been able to take our phone to have documentation of our fun trip. They have a photographer along to take pictures but charge a lot for the photos that they would email you. I wish the company would sell them at a lower price. They would make more money because more people would buy them. I am most sad about not getting to have any memories to remember the trip and show my friends, unless I pay more money than I already have.

Hi Alice, thank you for your comments.
River Expedition is a combination of 7 different activities, including 6 zip lines, we are sorry that nobody specified that when you book it...
If you don't want to buy all the pictures, you could buy just one for a very good price, to have memories to remember the trip.
One more time, we are sorry that we did not reach your expectations.

There were 9 in our group of adults + teens and our guides were Rafael, Omar, and Diego. I have a fear of heights, so I wasn't sure if I could complete the zip lining portion. Rafael was so kind and encouraging (THANKS, Rafael!!) that I was able to complete all of the zip line experiences + the mule ride back up the canyon w/his help. We enjoyed a delicious lunch w/a beautiful view of the pool afterwards. I'd highly recommend this venue to anyone whose cruise has a stop in Puerto Vallarta and is looking for a reasonably priced adventure that the whole family will enjoy.

Amazing excursion! I took 13 friends and we had an incredible time! We have all traveled and done many excursions & we all agreed this was one of the BEST ever! Dario, Omar, Jorge , Lunnie & Rizzo didn’t miss a beat with our large group. They were so entertaining and great at their jobs! It’s definitely an adrenaline filled excursion but even the most cautious of my friends felt safe. Zip lining through the green jungle was breathtaking,, the rappelling was a blast, and tubing down the river was so fun and funny! The mule ride back to the top was great too- they are so sure footed and know where they are going. We finished off with amazing margaritas, appetizers then some incredible tequilas like we’ve never had before.
I researched excursions like crazy before I chose this one. Save yourself the time and pick THIS ONE!

This is SO worth your time! It was well organized, lots of adventure, and fun! I feel like normally ziplines are "one" and then you're waiting around for everyone else. With this, they keep you moving right along from one adventure on a zipline to the next! We LOVED our time there and the instructors were not only helpful and knowledgeable, but so fun and made the experience great. Be sure to wear sunscreen, clothes that you don't mind getting completely soaked and WATER shoes are recommended (or shoes that you dont really care about ;) Either way, even though I wore clothes I wouldn't recommend getting completely submerged in water, I still had so much fun that I didn't care or mind at all. The mule ride at the end was so so nice and the food and margaritas at the the restaurant topped everything off-- especially with the fun tequila tasting~! 10/10 recommend and would do again!

We cannot say enough good things about out experiences at Canopy River! We selected the Adventure Tour with a group ranging from 12- to 66-years old and all had the time of our lives. We were lucky enough to have Rafael, Kevin, and Felipe as our guides and couldn't have been in better hands! We all challenged ourselves and tried things that were new and caused a little anxiety before doing them. Our guides were very reassuring and explained each of the activities in excellent detail. They showed extra care with our group members who were afraid and made sure we all had the best experience possible. We felt like they were our friends by the end of the mule ride back up to the restaurant. We can't wait to come back and try new adventures!

Our group of 15 went on this canopy river tour with zip lining, rappelling, rafting, horseback riding, hiking, and tequila tasting. This tour was exhilarating and extremely fun, we had people in our group who overcame tremendous fears on this tour who are now no longer scared to be adventurous and open to trying scary things. This tour was one of the best adventure tours we have ever been on, the guides are top notch professionals and ensured everyone’s safety. Do not miss this adventure!!!

The whole tour was great from start to finish, boat ride, private beach, truck drive to the jungle, then 20 min hike on a mule. The zip lines were amazing. Kut and his crew were pro’s, I felt safe and learn a few things about rock climbing did not feel rushed. They had a nice little bar available for after. Getting wet is unavoidable, travel light.

What an amazing experience!! Family of 4, kids age 10 and 12, we did the zip lining tour, it was SO much fun. Worth the money and my kids and I loved it. The staff from start to finish (office staff, bus driver, tour guides, servers at lunch, etc) were all super amazing and professional. Felt very safe and truly just loved it! We were having so much fun, we forgot to view the pics they took of us, I emailed them and hope I may still be able to purchase. Book this trip you won’t be sorry.

Do you have to do the ziplining? Is there a walking trail to get to the water tubing?
Written June 13, 2022
Hi Ruben. No, you don't have to know how to zipline they will give a demonstration when you get there and help you along the way. They're really great about that.
With this experience there was no water tubing. They might offer that as a separate excursion with the company as they do many different things at this location.
Between each zipline there is quite a bit of walking that I would classify as easy hiking. If you have low mobility and have a hard time hike up a dirt hill you may want to think about if you could get up and down a mountain with general ease. Again, they aren't hard but some are a bit steep.
I hope that doesn't deter you though, the big hike back is achieved via mules and my aunt who has lower mobility was able to do it pretty easily.

So how much to purchase photos? I would loved to keep it as a memory but they don't allow camera for safety reason.

They try and sell you a flashdrive for about $60 with all the photos or you can buy less. They have a photographer that follows the group. Pics aren't bad

If one person in our party has back problems can they participate in everything but zipling?
Written July 5, 2018
I guess it depends on the severity of the problem but the rafting, the mule ride and rappelling could all present problems. So I'd say no.
